#Nintendo Network ID already in use (102-2571)

I created a Pretendo Network ID using my username on the website, linked to my user on the Wii U and it was fine. But then I noticed the region was wrong, so I decided to follow the advice and delete the Pretendo ID through the console and recreate it there so I can have it properly set up. I'm trying to recreate it now on the Wii U itself and it's saying it already exists. I tried logging in on the website and it says that the user does not exist.

If it helps, I got this empty email with the subject saying it got deleted

cyan gate
#

that's the issue

#

@worn jacinth even if you delete the PNID, it will never be able to be reselected

#

also, it wasn't really necessary to delete the account for the sole purpose of changing region

#

if I'm not mistaken (don't quote me), in the future you'll be able to update account info on the website
for now, you can use a modded Wii U to change region

We never advice anyone to delete a PNID just to change settings

#

Anyway that username is lost forever

worn jacinth
#

Oh okay, thanks for the help!

rocky forge
#

And you have a Wii U, when modded it could have allowed you to change your stuff

What

#

Is that thing where you get the warning prompt twice?

worn jacinth
#

I don't think it prompted me twice, I don't remember the exact warning but it said something about "Changing region may cause unexpected issues/results", gave me that link and I followed what it said there

rocky forge

Sorry for what happened

#

First time I see this page

cyan gate
#

that might be what they mean

worn jacinth
#

Yes it was that

rocky forge
#

Anyway that is completely wrong

#

That deletes the PNID forever

rocky forge
#

just to confirm

#

I dont know a lot about the Wii U

worn jacinth
#

What do you mean? Readding the user?

rocky forge
#

i re-read it

#

Did you attempt to delete the user or the PNID

worn jacinth
#

I deleted both

#

But I probably read it wrong and it was just to delete the user on the console, create another one and re-link the PNID

rocky forge
#

It was just the user

#

not the PNID

worn jacinth
#

Yeah, my bad, I'll just create another one with a different name

#

Thank you!

rocky forge
#

Did you actually do these steps and nothing else?

#

Just to know if it's a bug or just your mistake

worn jacinth
#

I clicked on the "Also Delete ID" at the top in the second to last screen, so it was my mistake

rocky forge
#

Oh there you go

#

So our advice was correct
