I've recently been trying to play Splatoon again after 4 months, but when I try to join a match, I keep getting errors saying: "couldn't connect to partner's console." I tried with the same Wi-Fi router I've always used, which has previously worked just fine with this game. I also tried a wired connection, but that hasn't worked either.
I've seen a guide online presumably posted by someone at Pretendo, which tells you how to check the support code associated with the connection, as well as the NAT type corresponding to each support code. Both the wired and wireless connections from my router show the support code that corresponds to NAT type D when performing a connection test, while my phone's hotspot connection has NAT type B.
Seeing as, like I said above, I've previously been able to play online just fine with the router, should I wait for Pretendo to fix the issue, or should I try to enable port triggering/forwarding? My router's settings page only has the option to enable port forwarding, and I honestly have no clue how it's done.
