I use the hack-free method on my Wii U in 5.5.5, error code 104-1209 appears when I connect to the lobby. I reset my Wii U recently, is there a link?

try deleting the splatoon shared save data

the pretendo team is currently trying to fix this error for SSSL users, i recommend to mod your wii u by following this guide:

You can play Super Smash Bros for Wii U if you're a paid supporter at the Super Mario tier or above. Not sure whether it works on SSSL but it should.

This is a known issue. No ETA when it will be fixed and it's highly recommended modding your Wii U for more functionality and stability, the risk to brick is way lower than getting your Hynix eMMC gone.
