#Installing combine.zip through wireless data transfer?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
could try using the 3ds ftpd and filezilla client
bump (Looking for technical exacting reply because Idk if the process would mess up something on the system or installation or not)
why would you not have a screwdriver.
you can find Phillips 00 screwdrivers for really cheap
and it usually comes with other bits, like Phillips 0/000, etc
-# or buy something like the Manta Driver Kit from IFixIt (not sponsored or intended to promote)
although I'm pretty sure Nintendo provided a method for your 3DS to communicate with your PC somewhere in System Settings?
and it might just be only for New 3DS, which your message implies that your microSD Card slot is hidden beneath the bottom cover, unlike the old 3DS/2DS.

The Man, The ...
My cylinder is stuck in a tube it is imperative that the tube and cylinder remain intact and unharmed
Just as it is imperative that there is no screwdriver in play
That uses the old SMBv1 protocol, which is disabled by default in modern Windows versions for being insecure (remember WannaCry?)
It's why everyone just uses FTPD instead (in addition to FTP being more widely used)
fair.
but FTPD doesn't support secure FTP?
so you'd have an un-encrypted FTP connection?
isn't that just as unsafe?
At worse, some files might get tampered with (but it's your own personal network usually)
SMBv1 allows remote code execution
oh.
okay so @hollow rover you're gonna have to get access to your microSD Card somehow, if you don't have Universal Updater
if you do, you might be able to find FTPD there
well assume ftpd and everything work also its for another hypothetical 3ds that doesnt exist. Would a file transfer of the nsmb or whatever those special files going into and overwriting the ones on the system while its on do anything or are those files just used on start up will it prevent over writing when its on or fail at any point
wait a sec, you're wanting to transfer the contents of a game?
"nsmb" made me think "New Super Mario Bros. 2"
in that case, are you able to play that game? did you aquire the game from eShop or personal game card dump?
and why would you have made this support thread if you don't even have a 3DS to begin with???
if you don't have a 3DS, do you have a NAND dump or files of a 3DS?
-# plz say no (but be honest)
@hollow rover since I didn't do ping replies
anyhow, in case you don't reply:
to summarize, there are different approaches of sending data to and from a 3DS either using Nintendo's approach (SMBv1) or FTP. Both are considered insecure (much more so with the former option).
so, try to use FTP over a secure Internet connection, for example.
or, better yet, just go to your hardware store and find a Philips 00 screwdriver. it will cost no more than a few bucks.
assuming you even have a New 3DS. (old 3DS/2DS users don't have to do this, maybe also New 2DS users.)
nah the .combine zip of retendo
oh.
apologies.
but anyhow, this would really only be needed if you use a New 3DS console
or have no other way of connecting your console's (micro)SD Card to your computer or other device
yes
so, go to Universal Updater, find FTPD, and install it.
find your 3DS's IP address, which should be at the top of the screen once you launch FTPD.
make sure your computer/other device and 3DS console are connected to the same network.
then, in FileZilla or whatever, enter your 3DS's IP address and port (typically 5000)
wat does the combine zip replace and would the system being on affect the transfer and overwite of contents
?
once everything is moved over, if there's a CIA or whatnot to install, use FBI.
i.e. Nimbus
or you could use a 3dsx file and launch via Homebrew Launcher
if you for whatever reason haven't done this already, read through https://pretendo.network/docs/install/3ds
Extract the contents of the zip archive to the root of your SD card. If you are asked to merge or overwrite files, accept the changes.
specifically
accept the changes.
yes that part. can u do that wirelessly
what does it overwrite
would a ftp transfer overwrite properly ect
yes. just extract the contents of the ZIP, and using FTP, transfer the files to the root of the SD Card.
this should not be a problem.
okay swag
and if you want to confirm that the files successfully transferred, you could browse through the new files using FBI or GodMode9.
really, just make sure the following files exist:
SD:/luma/titles/000400300000BC02/code.ips(Miiverse, JPN)
SD:/luma/titles/000400300000BD02/code.ips(Miiverse, USA)
