Using an Old 3DS XL. Error code lookup just says "Unknown cause. Unknown solution."
Was getting error 022-5432 earlier, but following the instructions in https://discord.com/channels/408718485913468928/1276160416883671071 helped with that issue. Now I am getting Error 022-2402.
WORKAROUND: Complete Pretendo Network setup in a non-English language, if possible.

Don't make the PNID the same as your NNID

PNID I was trying to use was not the same as the NNID that is linked to a different 3DS I have (it is not linked to Pretendo in any way). When I bought this console second-hand, it appeared to have been factory reset, and I didn't link it to an NNID before now.
Though I will try a different name just in case

Okay, can confirm, my console was/is NOT hooked up to any NNID

try switching back to nintendo > settings > nnid settings > exit > switch back to pretendo > change language to spanish > nnid settings > try again
