#001-0502: Questions about what could be wrong.

I bolded the main points that I'm wondering about as well as the specifics about my specific situation.

I know that there's going to be fixes for this in the future, but I have a couple of general questions about this. For context, I have two devices. I first set up a PNID on my N3DS and it was working fine. I started to have issues connecting to the server after I set up a second PNID on my O3DS. I locally friended my own devices together so I could get more plant pals for Mii Plaza: Flower Town.

All I'm trying to do is add a couple of friend codes to my N3DS that I've received, but I've been unable to get connected to do this.

I don't know if there's problems with having two devices in the same household/network, or, more likely, problems with using the same email address for two different PNIDs (it doesn't seem to be an issue cause I can log in on PC with both of them, but who knows. I sure don't.)

I have tried using my phone as a hotspot and connecting through that, I have tried setting the IP address to "do not auto-obtain" and changing the IP address, neither has made a dent in this issue; I open up the friends menu and 20 seconds later I get 001-0502.

001-0502 is a general connection error that has been plaguing Pretendo for the past few months

the connection cards. you can have up to 3

glass scaffold
#

yeah use your normal wifi connection

buoyant rune
#

I'll give it a go. I'll delete all but the home network and then try switching between two ip addresses a couple times.

glass scaffold
#

your other connections dont matter

#

you dont need to touch them

buoyant rune
#

well ive done it like 12 times, always get this.....

glass scaffold
#

yeah thats good right

buoyant rune
#

and then get this anyway

glass scaffold
#

what did you put the IP address as

buoyant rune
#

idk if i should drop my ip address—

glass scaffold
#

it literally just shows the IP address of that device in that network

buoyant rune
glass scaffold
#

no i mean what did you set it to

buoyant rune
glass scaffold
#

right so what was your 3DS's original IP address

buoyant rune
#

well, I've been going back and forth between .128 and .170

glass scaffold
#

so .170 was what the console originally had

#

uhh try changing your MTU value to 1500

#

it might not be the overuse 0502 error it could be a different one that I think the IP fix doesnt effect

#

and then try 1500 mtu on both IPs

buoyant rune
#

alright, I'll do that

glass scaffold
#

otherwise theres not much you can do with this fix im afraid

#

the next best option is to use phone hotspot

buoyant rune
#

f e ck

glass scaffold
#

again fixes will be released soon

buoyant rune
#

okay, so it has nothing to do with the fact I made two accounts on the same email, that's at least reassuring

buoyant rune
#

wait, holy crap the hotspot thing actually worked this time lets GO
IM FRIEND-ING EVERYONE QUICK

glass scaffold
#

Yeah hotspot usually works

buoyant rune
#

oh, I have to use data for hotspot to work. That's really weird...?

I just unplugged my wifi router for a bit and it worked. That’s what the Nintendo support page recommended me to do.

buoyant rune
#

i'll give it a go, I'll just check if my housemate is stuck in some meeting rn first, lol

#

Okay, I have come to the conclusion that pretendo just reaaaallly hates the home network

#

(powercycling the router didn't work)
