#Hey all, does anyone know why Juxt's Wara Wara Plaza isn't working on my client?

are you using the latest Inkay 2.5.0 release? https://github.com/PretendoNetwork/Inkay/releases
can you try "Reset Wara Wara Plaza" in the settings menu of Inkay if you have not tried that?
Funnily enough, shortly after I made this help post the plaza began working online, I tried resetting it like you said and it reverted back to the offline version. Do you know if the system is supposed to boot into the homebrew menu by default or if the only way to access it is by using the .xyz site? Many thanks for your reply.
no problem - if your custom firmware is up-to-date, you will be running the Aroma environment, and there is no such thing as a homebrew launcher in aroma, it became outdated and is aging alongside Tiramisu
for context, the reason why, if you wonder, is because the way that homebrew gets handled is different across environments, and Aroma now loads plugins in the background, and any [updated] homebrew apps just show up on the home menu screen now
I see, I appreciate the explanation.
if you're on Tiramisu, then follow this guide, and make sure to click "Manually" on the tabs selection instead of "AromaUpdater" (aromaupdater does not work currently)
https://wiki.hacks.guide/wiki/Wii_U:Moving_from_Tiramisu_to_Aroma#tab-tabber-Manually
i mean, i guess functionally if it works for you as-is, then it really doesn't matter, but i just want to forward the information that tiramisu is considered "legacy" now, and you will receive smaller and smaller amounts of help for it as time goes on, Aroma rivals and bests it in pretty much every way
I'm on aroma btw!
lovely, you're all set, then - though i am still curious to know the reasoning that you bring up the exploit site still
i assume you're not autobooting?
Oh, I was just wondering if you're meant to go through that to access the cfw menu (I said homebrew erroneously, whoops!) and no, I'm certainly not autobooting, would you know how I could do that?
i just can't come up with any logical explanation as to why there would be the need to use the exploit site any longer, so pardon any ignorance if you have a legit reason, but it would be nice to know since i spend a bit of time on #wiiu-assistance over on NH
yep, one sec
it's really simple, you should just need to hold X booting the environmentloader and be able to set it with Y
here you go: https://wiiu.hacks.guide/#/aroma/autobooting
A guide to hacking the Nintendo Wii U.
(by the way, you don't need to open the exploit in browser, should be able to use H&S just fine)
Launch the EnvironmentLoader. If you are autobooting the PayloadLoader, simply turn on your Wii U. If you skipped the autobooting steps, launch the Health and Safety Information app. Using the D-Pad, navigate to aroma and press Y to set this to your default environment, then press A to launch into Aroma. To open the Environment Loader in the future, you have to hold X while your Wii U is booting or loading the Health and Safety Information app. On the Aroma Boot Selector, the Wii U Menu should already be selected, press Y to set this to your default autobooting option, then press A to launch into the Wii U Menu. Aroma will now be launched each time you boot the console (or load Health and Safety) and then straight into the Wii U Menu. To open the Aroma Boot Selector in the future, you have to hold START (+) while the console is booting or loading the Health and Safety Information app. Navigate the list using the D-Pad to hover on the title you want to autoboot in, then press the Y button to set this to your autoboot title. Press A to launch the selected title.
here's your relevant steps
in my personal opinion, i feel like it's one of those "might as well" things to do, since there's little reason to use OFW over CFW these days
I launched H&S and pressing A doesn't launch the aroma environment for me, but I haven't switched to CFW yet because I reset my console.
did opening h&s open the environmentloader?
No, just the standard H&S menu
When launching aroma it gives me a yellow warning screen that says "the update folder currently exists and is not a file"
you should be able to safely disregard this for now
you can delete it if you want, though
it disables updates going forward from nintendo (even though, realistically speaking, any more are highly unlikely, but it is advisable to do)
((especially since everything is a manner of a software exploit, and the only hardware exploits are kind of a pain to do, and require additional hardware))
i would download the latest release of aroma from here, (you at least need to get EnvironmentLoader and Base-Aroma) and extract it to your SD card
i am unsure of how long ago you did it and unsure of exactly what guide you followed, but the official guide you can find here, https://wiiu.hacks.guide, and i'm advising it [updating base aroma] because this does not line up with the expected behavior, so it seems like something is incorrect, at least to me, along the way
unless
perhaps you were in aroma, so launching H&S just functioned normally
that's the only case that H&S should load normally
I initially tried this a couple months ago but I formatted my SD and tried it again sometime last week. I did use the official guide also but I might've missed base-aroma.
I believe I was in aroma
i am wondering if this was the case
that seems like the only logical explanation to me, in order to get to the environmentloader you would need to hold X the first time you open H&S on boot
if you're on a non-coldbooting device
otherwise, it would need to be power cycled (to get back into official firmware) and then done
I tried holding X with OFW AND CFW launched with the exploit site and both just seemed to take me to the normal H&S menu, Juxt posts in the plaza seem to be working regularly on the official menu as well.
this is... incredibly odd, imo (are you using the SSSL version of pretendo?), but if this works for you, then who am i to say to change it 😛
i believe i am actually
Wanted to test it out before I even tried CFW
but my gamepad died and had to get a new one haha
really, if you want to make sure that CFW is working properly, then since you have Inkay/Nimble, you can remove those settings from your wifi connection, as they are no longer necessary
if Pretendo does not work after rebooting your console, then you know you're not autobooting aroma
they could probably help you troubleshot it over in #hardware on NH if you ever care to restore it
when i picked up my console a few years back, i had to replace the battery in the gamepad, and i just picked up a nicely sized upgraded battery in the process
My ZL button was no longer working, so I grabbed a y wing screwdriver to open it up and clean it but discovered one of the screws to open the back plate was stripped and I couldn't access it fully. By that point I was just impatient I guess haha, so I found a fairly cheap one on eBay, here's to hoping I never have to replace it again tho, I'll be sure to take better care of this one for sure.
Though the battery on mine also died immediately after opening it up along with realizing my charger really wasn't working well anymore.
Do you know how to change the settings back to the default?
you should just be able to clear your DNS settings (setting them back to auto-obtain instead of custom addresses + don't auto-obtain); i would recommend, after doing this, to make sure that the console actualizes those changes, to gracefully shut it off (i.e. don't hold the power button - sometimes this causes changes with basic stuff like this not to take effect) by pressing the power button, waiting until a full shut down, and then powering it on
i say gracefully for lack of better term here, i am sure there is some better way to call it, i just mean to explicitly not hold it down so it doesnt force a power cycle
for example, when deleting a user account, or changing a controller keybind with a plugin in aroma's config menu, those changes will not take effect on a forced reboot
only with a graceful shutdown
