tl;dr is that you can't go online cause your wii u can't connect to the friends server, is it annoying yes bit there's nothing we can do but wait

The servers are just overloaded, happens to all games with an online mode. Especially mk and splatoon, just wait it out.

Then why can I connect when I hotspot my cell phone, but I can’t connect on my home WiFi from Comcast. I’ve been connecting no problems on my home WiFi up until 2 days ago.
