The SSSL (dns method) currently isnt functional, your only options to play is mod your wii u or wait for them to fix it (if they do) that is

SSSL (DNS method) is broken for games that rely heavily on SpotPass (BOSS).
The only known solution requires you to mod your system:

Follow https://wiiu.hacks.guide/ to install Aroma CFW, then https://pretendo.network/docs/install/wiiu, and finally: follow the I'm getting error code 104-2210 when attempting to play Splatoon section of ⁠#announcements message⁠ to get Pretendo Network working on your console again.

either your SD card is write protected (this will prevent aroma from booting iirc) or it's dead
