I have a feeling this is gonna be harder to implement than most of us think. I remember that for a very long time, you couldn’t link your Nintendo Account to your NNID if they didn’t have the same Birthdays. I don’t know when they changed it, but in 2021 i was finally able to link my accounts, and it only let me link accounts by permanently changing my NNID birthday to my Nintendo Account birthday.

My point with all this rambling is that i think the NNID system (and thus pretendo’s system) for birthdays is heavily tied to the actual console/account data itself, so it might be harder to implement a way to change it on the fly.

So you mean you did something like this process (#1227137764529803294 message), and it worked? If so, it sounds like that's the quickest way to transfer the badges without destroying action badges & categories w/ GYTB!
(What's annoying is that GYTB does actually support making badges link to system apps by putting its Title ID into the beginning of the filename followed by a full stop, but judging by what people here have said about losing their links, when you use it to dump the official badges and .pngs, it must just not put these Title IDs into the filenames, so you lose the links. Why didn't they just implement that, then?)

That's a shame - maybe try copying them in using FBI:

1. Put your modified BadgeMngFile.dat and BadgeData.dat into a folder on your SD card, msking sure they're the only files in that folder.

2. Open FBI, choose "SD", navigate to the folder where you put the badge data files, select "<current directory>" and then choose "Copy all contents".

3. Press B until you get back to the main menu, then go to "Ext Save Data -> 000014d1 -> Browse User Data -> <current directory>" and select "Paste".

This should replace your badge files manually.

Edit: Just noticed this message has been referenced in a github issue, so, to clarify, the file that references the PrincipalID is BadgeMngFile.dat inside "sdmc:/Nintendo 3DS/<ID0>/<ID1>/extdata/00000000/000014d1".

The ID I'm talking about appears in little-endian at offset 0x1C-1F. It's also mentioned in "CTRNAND:/data/<ID0>/sysdata/10000038/00000000" under the name "PrincipalId=<value>".

Also, If you want to add more to your collection, you can download some more with AllBadge Tool, open your badge data in ABE, then open the .prb and .cab files to add the sets and badges, then choose Save As to save your new modded file somewhere separate from your original one. You can also give yourself 255 copies of all badges with ABE!

@grim delta i wanted to ask if you knew how to add more sets of badges through the allbadge method without removing the previous badges that were injected? my test batch was the first set of ACNL badges, and those worked fine. then i unsuccessfully attempted the pikmin badge set (missing .prb files in folder, tried the PC USA version, didn’t inject for some reason? will try again today but not priority atm), and then tried the mario maker badges since the .prb files were intact. i successfully injected the mario maker sets, but the animal crossing set i injected at the beginning disappeared from the badge drawer. did i overwrite that badge set with the mario maker one, or is there another step i need to perform to add more while preserving the ones that already exist in the drawer?

Hmm... I'm not sure why that would've happened, since it should be as simple as loading up your last badge files, then inserting .prbs and .cabs into them.

The only thing I can think of is that you might've edited the original file/created a new one instead of opening the one that had ACNL badges in it with File -> Open Data, but if you didn't do that, it might be some sort of bug.

nothing unusual, just setting up the PNID account. the only actual issue within settings was not allowing me to create the account at all, and someone in another support thread on here told me to change my language to Spanish to fix it. it actually worked and i was able to successfully create the PNID and link it to my 3DS. so here’s the full theory in my mind:

badges did NOT disappear when switching initially between NNID and PNID, because the badge arcade had not registered these badges AT ALL. they were freshly injected badges.

Or at least anything that was/is to do with NN, such as Badge Arcade or eShop

Maybe try going into Simple Badge Injector, note the NNID, switch to Pretendo, open SBI, note the new NNID, switch back, open SBI and see what it says.
