#Need to delete Pretendo account

Hello, I linked my Pretendo account to an old Nintendo account that I no longer have access to, and would like to delete it so I can use the username with my real account that I actually use. Is there a way to do this? Thank you! My current account PNID is RatGrrrl

to further clarify I used the email of an old account but PNID of my current one, and it is not letting me sign in to nintendo anymore. I asked a mod and they said that Jon could delete my pretendo account? That would be great if possible!

This isn't possible. We don't have any "link your Nintendo account to your Pretendo account" functionality. If you used some other service to do this, you'd have to ask them

Deleting an account can be done on the console, it's a built in feature to the consoles. But deleting an account does not free up the username. Once it is registered it can't be used again. This is also how Nintendo Network works. Also again I'm not sure what you mean by "real account" here

Again, it sounds like you're leaving out some information here. I have no idea what's actually happened or what your issue is atm

Sorry, to clarify I used an email linked with an old Nintendo account that I no longer have access to. This autofilled all my data to that old accounts data, which is no longer current, and I cant change it as I cant go into that account. I set the pnid to my current nintendo accounts pnid, which is now causing issues woth my current nintendo account somehow. Therefore I thought it would be easiiest to delete the pretendo account

What "issues" are you having. The issue with what you're describing is that Pretendo accounts and Nintendo accounts are completely separate things. They don't affect each other, it doesn't matter what email, username, whatever you use. They're 2 completely different account systems. At worst the only thing they'd do that "affects" the other is if you have a NNID linked to a console already you can't link a PNID to that console if it has the same username (and vice-versa). But the actual accounts themselves are completely different entities

Autofilled where? The consoles have no auto-fill. And the website should auto-fill your NNID details as it isn't a Nintendo site (this would be like if Facebook auto-filled your gmail credentials, that doesn't happen). And even if it did auto-fill your NNID details when making a PNID on the website, it doesn't matter if it's "current" or not or if you have access to the NNID or not, since as previously stated they are completely separate account systems

By autofilled I meant that it pulled up all the account info of my old account which I can no longer access, and therefore can no longer change. I think you are right that the other issue is unrelated. However, this still means that my account has the wrong info, and I would like to delete it. Is that possible?

Any issues with your Nintendo account are entirely unrelated to us

If you want to delete an account you can do so from a console. I can do so manually but iot's preferred if it's done on the console as there's a whole cleanup process that happens that way. But again, this will not free up the username. You would still need to make a new account

Is there a reason you don't have access to the account? I don't typically make a habit of manually deleting them for the previously mentioned cleanup that happens on the console, but also because I can't just take people at their word that the account is theirs. I can't just randomly start deleting accounts based on the honor system

It was an account I made when I was a kid, and i sold the 3ds XL that it was on. The account info is long gone, and I dont remember it

The account you mentioned earlier in this thread was made in 2024. I really feel like you're confusing your Nintendo account with a Pretendo account

Again, they are completely different things. I cannot delete a Nintendo account, they are not the same thing as a Pretendo account. I can't do anything here since it's not clear what the actual issue with our services is

You mentioned your email earlier in the thread but it's not clear if you lost access to just the Nintendo account that email was used for, or if you lost access to the email account entirely

If you still have access to the email you can reset your password on the PNID and gain access back

Is there any way I can prove I owned the account?

Ususally I have people link their Discord accounts to the account, but since you can't do that there's not a great way to verify this unfortunately

Hi! You cannot use the same username on Pretendo and Nintendo networks, is this the case? Also, on console, have you tried disabling the Inkay patches and logging into your NNID?

If you don't care about the NNID anymore you can forcibly remove it from the console. You can either reset the accounts account.dat to it's default values and delete it like any other account, or just remove the account entirely. In the past I usually just delete the account entirely, but if you reset the account.dat to default then the Wii U will act like it doesn't have a NNID associated with it, and you can delete it like normal (which will do stuff like cleanup your accounts save data and such)

It should be noted that the above method does also work and, yes, will clean up any artifacts from the user left on the system (such as save data, which is very useful), but it will not unlink the NNID from the console as far as the server is concerned. It has the same effect as just deleting the account.dat directly in terms of actually unlinking the NNID from the console. That being said, if you MUST do this kind of forcible account removal, doing the above should be preferred over deleting the account.dat entirely as cleaning up user data is a big benefit

Specifically:

Forcibly removing an account this way works, but it causes a desync between the server and console. You will never be able to link that NNID to a Wii U ever again, since the server thinks it's still linked to a console

But since you lost access, idk how much that matters to you

Ok, thank you for the clarification. i do care about the NNID, and would like to keep it if possoble. Could I prove ownership of the pretendo account by linking it to my discord, and then have you delete it? I never signed in with in on my 3ds so it shouldnt have any weird artifacts

I’m still not sure why you need the account deleted, especially manually

If the NNID and PNID share the same username, and the NNID is already on the console, then the PNID shouldn’t be linked to it anyway

So you won’t be able to account on the console, forcing you to make a new PNID anyway

Why exactly do you need the account deleted. What is stopping you from just making a new account? You have to anyway
