Tried to log in VARIOUS times on my Wii U, claims password is incorrect, changed the password, typed in the new password, still claims its incorrect.

then it seems like you're using your nnid on pretendo which will always not work because your nnid doesn't exist on pretendo's servers

are you logged into your pretendo account? (pretendo miis have different shading from nintendo miis in their icon)

i have intentionally made my pnid the same as my nnid to get around that

that doesn't fix the problem your nnid and pnid are still separate things

Your PNID should not be the same as your NNID. That would explain why you're having issues.
