Those are limits in the console itself it doesn’t have anything to do with the servers you use. If you can’t connect to your own Wi-Fi then you couldn’t connect to any servers to begin with

Because the DSi is a more modern console than the DS

It has nothing to do with the servers

Either it’s locked at the firmware or, more likely, the hardware level. Either the firmware or the wifi chip of the original DS just doesn’t support anything besides WEP, and that’s not something custom servers can fix. Because again, your console couldn’t even connect to them even if they could

The only thing that’s going to fix that is changes to your home network so it uses WEP, or don’t use an original DS

@limpid flame do you have a raspberry pi and two network adapters it can use? (If it's a 3b or newer then you only need one other adapter, this can be as simple as a usb tethered phone)

You can use smth called raspap to make a DS friendly WiFi hotspot

Dsi games are easier, you can use modern WiFi in an advanced connection slot (the regular slots on 3DS)

Wiimmfi setup is just changing your console's DNS, very simple (I forgot what the new DNS is tho)

Honestly, the best way to use DS wiimmfi is to dump files and use melonDS

For wiimmfi: you can use the raspap method I mentioned above, or a wfc stick, or an open hotspot on your phone

the wfc adapter is gonna need an eBay search and a windows xp vm tho, and hotspot may not work for everyone

To be clear you don't need a Pi for RaspAP. It's for any device that's Debian based
