is it visual (ie. a model replacement and maybe some sound or text) or is it server-side (rival octolings)?

for something like rivial octolings, ask someone who actually works on pretendo or at least moderates it. it might break inkopolis for some people.
if you are using asset replacement, it's just a casual non-advantage gimmick that only happens on your screen, therefor it is fine
if you wanna use something that's straight up 'hacking', then only in private battles in which everyone agrees to it beforehand.
