Octoling in splatoon

May I be allowed to play as an octoling by changing my save file? I don't want to be rude and also accidentally ban myself.

You can mod save files I'm pretty sure (I did it myself to unlock everything) but when it comes to playing as octoling I have no idea how your supposed to use the tool to do so and run pretendo at the same time, I tried doing it myself but couldn't get it to work. Also most octoling hacks that were used by the end of splatoons lifespan were client side meaning only you saw them, as such it shouldn't brick anyone else's saves if you could actually get it to work.

I thought they fixed it so any octoling in lobby turned into inkling? Maybe modifying it so it doesn’t trigger for battles so the player stays an octoling stays but the fix to turn the octolings in lobby to turn to inkling still applies (was used to have any saved octos turn into inklings to unbrick a save)

I honesty have no idea if they ever made a fix like that but I know most octoling hacks you can still find were all client side to get around the plaza softbrick issue. You can absolutely still use those hacks today (I did myself) as I said, the problem is getting it to work alongside Pretendo since running the nimble file stops you from opening homebrew applications which includes TCPGecko which is used to modify the save files real time. Maybe theres something else you can find to use instead to modify the save files real time but TCPGecko was what I used and I couldn't get it to work alongside prentendo but thats just me, maybe you could figure it out.
