You appear to not be demon sliding properly here

Demon sliding requires your hop to end in a very short drift as you land, otherwise known as a slide. You'll know if you've done that if you see dust coming from your tires.

The reason you want to do that is because a lot of steep downhill sections will slow you down if you hop down them normally

which is why normal firehopping slows you down there instead

demon sliding bypasses that speed penalty

To also get a bit more nerdy, the reason you gain time for demon sliding here is also different to firehopping. Firehopping, you gain speed when landing sideways while in a boost. But for demon sliding down this hill in this example, you actually just gain speed because of the direction of gravity, which is unclamped unlike MK8DX

@hot shell i progressed on my sdcafiine issue and its able to load smash mods fine but crashes on mariokart. ill try figuring out more over the weekend cause i think it may be a file in one of my custom modpacks thats causing an issue (i have only one modpack on the sd so my guess is thats the culprit).

problems solved. was a bad file in my modpack. im gonna work on making a new one (with blackjack and hookers) and keep testing other file sources. so far all the character skins and music work so im guessing it was either dlc or kart related which kept crashing. ill be able to play online soon!
