Hello team
test
thanks @haughty girder
oooh fancy
Nice!
Boop
🗿
welcome
noice
oi
Henrik: you have been known to always include infectious fog and spitters in your levels. What makes these two mechanics so appealing to you?
slowmode is for nerds
I'd rather just ask people for now to please be mindful and keep chatter to minimum, use this channel for questions pls <3
So its easier for them to sort through it
for both: **Are we going to see any new enemy designs anytime soon not reskins but new ones with new attacks and mechanics **
2 min slow mode 🙂
**QUESTION:**What's the dev current process/perspective for going back and fixing/optimising, if I remember correctly I was concerned about Devs saying that since they were already working in R7, and it would be hard reverting back to R6 to fix R6 bugs.

BETTER Q+ Are there any consideration for adding more standard geomorphs to existing sets? Lots of players now are recoginising when rooms are being reused, and it has made game stale in some aspects.
a question from Punk to both: What were the original inspirations for the GTFO universe? Books, poets, comics, maybe even dreams, as an example.
So, did ||anenomes||, an enemy added in rundown 5's files and mentioned by d0c to be not finished in time for release (but still releasing), face the same situation as the Snatcher where things just keep getting pushed back?
QUESTION: New common enemies? that are not variants.
**question : **In what direction is the new rundown leaning to? New areas, enemies, objectives, items or something completely else? r5 we've got new areas and objectives, but hardly any new enemies (just 1 i think, the charger scout), this rundown we've got some new mechanics and a few new areas, hardly any new objectives.
Question 2: what do you think the playerbase wants the most and whats there vision of the game
any idea how long development for a level takes the developers at 10 chambers? specifically how long is level design, not the actually level testing?
So enemy collision has been added for almost 2 years and there have been no efforts in improving it, is the priority for the player experience too low for it to justify improving it or the development team simply think it's a finished mechanic and there is no need to polish it?
Dev AMA - Ask Your Questions Here
Approximately how long does it take to make a Rundown? I am asking not from just the level design standpoint, but from the conception to the finish
and a question to both from me: How do you feel GTFO has been going? Are you happy with its current state/the game as a whole?
Question: Is the 10 Chambers worried about the active playerbase in GTFO? Is the dropoff of players as the rundown has been there for a while an area of concern, and if so, are there any plans to retain more players / give more incentives to replay levels?
Question: what do you think of the new environments that you are making
Question: The stealth mechanics have mostly remain the same since release, is there any upcoming changes to stealth changes coming in r7.
Question: Do you have ideas/plans for new environmental dangers besides fog and spitters?
**Question for calle: what's the most wished feature that you hear from the community at large (not bug hunters or content creators) but the community itself (other than the flamethrower and universal ping **
Question: Whats the main focus when going into making a new rundown (Dangers, Environment, Story,)?
Is not answering specific questions 10cc's stance
Q3esti10nWhat is the reasoning for the change of "expedition style", comparing to R4, with more "Warden Intel", in form of progression, where levels like R6C2 feel like the game is more hand holding, and linear, compared to R4C2

I know R6D2 feel like more level that is based on more player option, but it feels like completely distincted into seperate "parts", rather than a sort of ambiguity and adventure that a level like R4C2 would provide
also a question for calle: How do you feel about the story of GTFO?
Question: Will the levels become less linear and more challenging like previous rundowns?
What was the thought behind the ability to ping single enemies with the biotracker since at its current stage it doesnt serve a useful purpose in loud scenarios?
What is the current position on upgrading gear and progression?
**Question for game designers: are the game devs going to ever go back and redesign an enemy like charger scouts and such (reason for this question is a lot of ppl agree charger scout was under delivered) **
Question: Why do you opt for more heavily designed, slower to make, levels rather than more generic ones that are faster to create. How about more of a mix of both?
I'll keep the questions for me to later, maximizing our guests time
Question: How limiting is the engine/tool which is responsible for level design, how much control does the software in question allow the devs to have, can you control every door/wall/floor/tile placement?
High level scripting = .json XD
Moduler coding
QUESTION: Is the slow down that happens after deploying Mines or using Lock Melters a conscious design choice?
Being completely defenseless, unable to switch weapons for a while and unable to run can be pretty annoying at times.
Is it possible or could be planned to remove this slowdown as a QoL change someday?
(reasked since they skipped over this, because i forgot to write as question)
Question: What comes first? the lore, or the level?
Question: why did r6 extension didnt have any guns re-added to it?
Question: are there plans/concepts to release content faster in the future or is the current speed working as intended?
Before you start testing a level, do you have an idea on how hard it will be and what Tier it should fit in?
Question: Why the secrecy ALL the time? Why not be straight forward with changes that might upset the community like stamina?
Will enemy collision ever be improved or is strikers pushing giants or hybrids a feature?
Will alarm shutdown command ever be changed or is shutdowning all alarms a feature?
qute QuesiWTioN!#/ Is there is disconnect between creating hard levels and level designers? Iirc I heard that much not groups in level testing are able to complete E level, how then does Dev team aim to create E level that is interesting for experienced players? 🤯

BETTER Q+ Are there any consideration for adding more standard geomorphs to existing sets? Lots of players now are recoginising when rooms are being reused, and it has made game stale in some aspects.
Question: Everyone in the community has been wanting a place to view old logs so they can keep up with the lore. Why has your team been so against this?
reposted question Question for game designers: are the game devs going to ever go back and redesign an enemy like charger scouts and such (reason for this question is a lot of ppl agree charger scout was under delivered)
Will you ever re do the lighting system? Its soo hard to see through some lights
State of optimisation:

I get 9 frames on DX dimension prefab
Recently, Dev uploaded video about level design on A1, in the A1 Alpha dimesnion it is very noticable that the frames drop a lot.
Is there any clarity what has changed between R5 and R6 that caused these?
Can we get a new tool? not a new sentry?
reposted question : In what direction is the new rundown leaning to? New areas, enemies, objectives, items or something completely else? r5 we've got new areas and objectives, but hardly any new enemies (just 1 i think, the charger scout), this rundown we've got some new mechanics and a few new areas, hardly any new objectives.
But why? That creates such a disconnect with the community and alienates players
communication doesn't have to promises to deliver something
stamina communication moment
Someone surely has mentioned the number of objects in the alpha 1 environment, any plans on optimization for these areas?
would also like to ask about plans for cosmetics, such as new cosmetics, a system to unlock other current pieces and possibly a developer support package, including cosmetic items
Question: Are you guys going to look into how cosmetics are being unlocked again at any point? Cause currently one can end up with for example no new pants or backpacks but a long list of colours and masks. And besides that, any plans on adding the old hammer skins as cosmetics or weapon ones?
Question: The stealth mechanics have mostly remain the same since release, is there any upcoming changes to stealth changes coming in r7.
Solved kiting? People are still soloing levels and the difficulty has been ruined cuz nothing else was changed around stamina. How has this fixed anything?
this is for the devs: saying stamina is alot better than all of us being like oh what is this going to be cause being clueless can lead into players thinking a better AI is going to be made or the stealth mechanics going to be changed and because you been secretive stamina was very lame for most players (data coming from me playing LFG in the first 2 month of R6 drop and interviewing ppl aka asking how do you feel) with not saying anything you are just disconnecting the dev team from the community and hurting it
C FOAM sentry
Question: Will you add any sort of achievements to the game to complete on steam or ingame? Maybe even adding badges or medals
Idk why everybody is bashing stamina I like it
That's something that's on our roadmap in the backlog currently
Question: witch part of the developing the game its the most stressful one?
ever consider changing tier of a level instead of redesigning balance?
Any response to the Real Khapri video that released recently?
Can we have an artbook in the future?
question ever thought about making a weapon that can overpen doors and armor?
#gtfo-game-suggestions message #gtfo-game-suggestions with 3d render and pictures
Maybe a smart weapon that can auto aim or aim on bio pings 🤔
Question repost: Do you have ideas/plans for new environmental dangers besides fog and spitters?
Question: why are there so little optional objectives in R6? I feel like R5 had a very good replayabillity because of optional objectives.
Not in this forum. You can ask specific questions if you want.
Will there be a push for more warden objectives in future rundowns? R6 was kinda sparse
question: are the devs going to ever go back and redesign an enemy like charger scouts and or tanks AI?
Is there going to be a way to opt out of Lore Doors, they end up being a pain if its not the first or second playthrough
A tier levels with prisoner efficiency
Question: are tool upgrades still planned as "gear progression" or has it changed, similar to warden commodities and artifacts?
😔 , yes i do, i was a victim victim
in response to what you said about golden border levels. Why is it necessary to have golden border levels on top of A and B levels? it seems to result in an issue of the majority of the levels being very simple.
Will be be getting the C-foam skin bug rereleased as an actual colour scheme or skin
How big is R7 going to be in terms of content compared to previous Rundowns?
THIS needs to be answered
Calle says Haha., nice try
Furthermore, what's the status of gun frankensteining (doing things like putting a cfoam gun on a sentry)? Still planned or cut/moved to the backlog for the next few years?
i'm pretty exited with the "Progression linked expeditions" at the backlogs, what can we expect from them?
Question: How is your stance on a customisable weapon system? E.g.choosing between more bullets in a mag or extra damage per bullet, adding an aiming scope to a weapon in exchange for less bullets or damage... etc
I wanted to add onto a recent question that was asked earlier: Will you add new ways to stealth, horror elements, or gameplay in general? It would be really sick to see new animations for special enemies like the tank. Back when it was rundown 4, one of the last levels had a room with a tank, there were piles of bodies with cracked-open HSUs. Really gave the player the imagination of what happened prior to meeting the tank.
Haha., nice try
Question : What is the future of GTFO after R8, how will you handle the rundown concept, I mean I can't imagine that you will do rundown forever and with every rundown wiping the others, what will remains of GTFO after you stop doing level?....like if I want to play GTFO in 2029
Will there ever be an option to play old rundowns? Does this game have end point, or will it just continue till it dies? If so then why can’t people play older rundowns to have more fun with the game?
R4 every level had an optional objective
Question: whats the most wished feature that you hear from the community at large
Will the optimization in the game will be better in R7? The Framerate was pretty bad in R6 even on high end pcs. I'm on A RTX 2060 and I get 70 in the desert
You've acquired many level designers recently. Do you plan on having rundown "teams" that work on different rundowns simultaneously? Like X team working on R12 while Y team works on R13.
^that's not how it works
overall performance is way worse regardless of location actually
yeah its weird to see my frames drop down to double digits lol
isn't removing complexity a bad thing in terms of optional objectives? And if the goal is to make the game more accessible. Have some kind of warning telling new players to avoid the optional objectives until they're ready.
you got double digits? damn... 😔
Is plan to add more generic/"Standard geomorphs" to exisiting tile sets, enough time has passed that certain players easily can easily recognise where areas are reused, expand Mining for example
Joke question: why is every objective name changed but overload stayed the same
When you showed off the mo-cap gif a while back, I was surprised with how crowded the room seemed to be. Was that intentional, or do you just use what looks like an office space to record mo-cap?
Will there be a new threat level? Higher than overload.
not usually just in the really bad performing levels. usually 200+
Hes saying that because he gets hit with single digits
set settings so low you end up in gtfo roblox
How do you plan to appeal to the more hardcore audience in R7? Both those hardcore people who have been here for a while and those who joined in R6?
D1 unplayable , alreading playing on 3rd of my resolution, 14 frames max
my settings are at the lowest and still in single digit frames bro ðŸ˜
I NEED ANSWERS!!!
Are there any plans or ideas on how you guys are intending to retain playerbase throughout a rundowns life to where it doesn't lose a good chunk of the players after a month?
R2 had an E level at launch edit:realized that right after I wrote it
I was gonna say havent there already been E tiers lol
zero-day E tier clear inc
launch =/= extension..
Is plan to add more generic/"Standard geomorphs" to exisiting tile sets, enough time has passed that certain players easily can easily recognise where areas are reused, expand Mining for example
I met someone in DX who is running a 1080 and his framerate goes down to 30
e level checkpoint?
OHH in relation to the warden stats. Can you give individual stats about how many individual players have beaten levels?
What would a Henrik E tier look like? Shadow spitters finally?
Turning checkpoint doors into saferooms?
OH LORD
When's the targeted release for R7? June or July?
Question Any plans for rewards for a checkpointless levelclear?
funniest weapon or enemies that will never make it in?
Question: How is your stance on a customisable weapon system? E.g.choosing between more bullets in a mag or extra damage per bullet, adding an aiming scope to a weapon in exchange for less bullets or damage... etc
what the question meant was how are you going to balance other tiers for the hardcore playerbase @oblique pumice
Is there any plans to change the way the checkpoint system works or will it just be optimized?
Question: Was rundown 6 intentionally made easier to be a starting point for newer players with the full game release, or was it the first iteration of trying to balance around the new stamina system (overcompensated to make it a bit too easy?) or something else?
Question : will we get new door alarm style other than circle on the ground?
Are there any plans for a potential survival oriented level that is featured in every rundown, focusing on holding a large room(s) for as long as possible? Promoting increased replayability and bragging rights as well as giving a specific place for people to practice on their skills and weapons and teamwork.
QUESTION: Which levels in rundown 6 most prominently portray the design philosophy you want to carry over into rundown 7 and further into the future?
🤔
top 3 R6 levels?
^interested in the answer to that.
Is plan to add more generic/"Standard geomorphs" to exisiting tile sets, enough time has passed that certain players easily can easily recognise where areas are reused, expand Mining for example
Will we be getting rewards depending on if we decide to use checkpoints or not use them?
can we get a sniper nerf
for damage of course
Things relating to will there be a way to see checkpointless completions and things like that
FOR AMMO CAP NOT DAMAGE OR ANYTHING ELSE
any plans on fix matchmaking and kick someone from the lobby ?
do you plan on exploring the split squad concept that r5b3 had? as in, the team splits into two of 2 that then need to go through different sections.
Have you heard the critiques about Checkpoints and the requests for no checkpoint incentives from the community.
Thank you guys for your time. Love this format. Hopefully we can do more of these.
remove glowstick when?
Will we ever get shirtless prisoners?
if not im sure modders will oblige lol
r34 is that way 👉 🚪
its already done 😄
when the hell are the devs going to make the game not run at 20 fps on a 1060
i have a 750
what are frames
Can I send you a smoke signal using Pine trees @oblique pumice ?
Would love to see more on the Dev Stage. This was great.
when will we be allowed to post images in here
lol why am i not surprised
Frame rate and performance are seriously a massive issue with the game at this point, I know a lot of people including myself who have downright stopped playing the game because of this; the game gets noticeably harder to run every time a new rundown releases
Are there any plans to add additional graphics settings or to optimize the game’s rendering in order to allow people with lower end PCs to continue playing the game without needing to worry about upgrading their rigs to maintain a playable frame rate?
Even simple steps like adding LOD models for the environment could make a huge difference
Oh I missed the AMA lol
Thank you all!
calle you should get all the devs to watch the desert dimension from your level video and see it run at 40 fps
(aka shit performance)
Will there be a way to see your ping from host?
Have you experimented with making T scans go through doors that require other scans? If so how did it go?
Dev AMA - Question Archive
As said, we are doing an optimisation pass.
I liked is as well!
The best way!
@oblique pumice I know this isn't the place to ask. But can you post the recording here or on the youtube channel? I saw some people missed it.
Questions with kind of tonality will not tolerated. Or answered.
Haha, how could we not? We have also heard praise about them, so acknowledge both ends of the spectrum.
Hey Calle, is there going to be an answer archive?
I haven’t figured out how we will distribute the answers yet.
#gtfo-ama-answers could be used again
Alright! Cheers for the update and the hardwork
True!
oh of course. I don't mean to say that the whole community doesn't like them. You just seem to not be changing anything for R6 in terms of checkpoints so you are leaning completely towards the people who like them. ideally I would like to find a middle ground in terms of checkpoint. as has been discussed.
As Henrik and Hjalmar said, we can always improve placing and usage.
I'm curious to see what y'all did for R7.
Now that 1.0 is out, do you guys plan on expanding the game’s mechanics much further or is the plan primarily to focus on additional content at this point?
(You don’t have to answer, I know the AMA ended a few hours ago hahaha)
I would like to ask you few questions
1.Do you plan on adding an additional playable 5th character as unlockable for the player to unlock while playing the game?
-
Will there be an action pack thrilling mission in the future?
-
Will there be any unlockable besides cosmetics? like a perk system where you have to do a specific thing to unlock this said perk which gives you a fair bit of boost or lets you do something during combat that normally you wouldn't be able to do like reviving a teammate while able to enduring hits or able to carry them to a safe place with the perk
