retiring an expedition should still reward artifact progress, hence the heat going down. If you remember what the booster progress amount was (0.56) for example when you last retired, then if you drop down again it should say that same amount as it should pick where you left off

if you click "o" in game you can see you completed extreme
Yeah the extreme can be done first and have the objectives still tick off. Like Andy said you are having a bug where the thing is not progressing. If you finish that run you can see if it gives you the extreme completion but I don't think it will.
Checking underneath the o tab would not be a bad idea either
