Single titans as far as I'm aware are always a part of the base enemy spawns you see in almost every zone.
Some of those pods definitely exist on B1 since you get shooters, which seems to be why single titans are always paired with small enemies.

The main advantage of the catwalk is a single spawn direction and the main disadvantage is that you waste loads of time. If you want to save time, you would need to defend in reactor or z65.
Even if you alert z67, just survive to get the code and have someone put it in.
The scout waves are far less threatening than repeating the final reactor wave.
