clearing 1 wave with one mine is mich less good than cfoam holding off 1 wave indefinitely

plus you should have 1 mine because ||second cell hunt is behind a blood door||.

and the room size/layout means 1 room spawns are right in front of you

my answers were

1. being able to reposition while charging is massive. Stamina cost is overrated. Plus spear uses just as much stam as hammer anyway
2. having to hit headshots with a precise hit is harder than a downwards swing (plus just body shot killing anyway). And its risky to corner hold often
3. its easy (training wheels) but hammer has more options/angles due to mobility (see sprint) and hit arc (easier when jumping at one)
4. spear is pretty good in safe stealth tbh. But hammer is just so much faster if you can sprint

Spear does kill babies with one hit now, it has a 1.3x precision making it do 2.6 damage, which rapidly scales up to allow for 1 taps to the occiput in stealth against typical small enemies, combined with the faster recovery from landed melee attacks, you can easily clear faster and with more comfort than any other melee. Spears 1.5x heavy precision damage makes it a good starter for bosses and great for giants. As a result the spear does 26.25 damage on precision hits, which gives it the ability to 2 tap hybrids reliably in stealth (1 occiput, 1 face when they turn), 1 shot mother tumours and 2 tap tank tumours.
Takes time to get used to the spear, but once you are familiar with how to use it effectively it behaves like a more powerful hammer in stealth, with the only issue being running through feelers for scouts and dodging a bunch of strikers while charging in alarms, though you should just shoot them in that case anyways.
Tbh, Hammer is good, knife is rarely better, only really shining when consistent alarms are present that spawn only small enemies. Bat is shit when compared to all 3.
Spear and hammer are the most applicable of the melees, and spear just shines in most situations when you want to actively use a melee including fighting a few loose strikers when the time calls for it in alarms. How the spear is considered the "worst" is comical

I mean: are you really surprised that a known speedrunner considers ability to sprint properly the feature that makes or breaks a melee?
As a local spear main (literally don't even bother playing other melees) - i can attest that spear is very comfy and powerful once you play around it, but that IS the problem for these guys. They don't want to "play around" it - they want to sprint in and smash it with 20 base damage, instead of having to either ambush or awkwardly waddle towards their victim while having to spend effort on aiming for the head.
And don't even get me started on chargers

The sprinting IS the reason its the worst melee for them. If sprint was a normal one - maybe they would be like "eh, hammer is still the shit, but this is acceptable."

Hence why neither knife or bat are worse in their books. Sure, they're not 20 base broken, but at least they can be where they need to be.

For anyone who had an issue with the 'Work Together' (no downs) achievement, I think I cracked why it doesn't work sometimes.

Before attempting the achivement- make sure everyone is playing a fresh session by restarting the game.

I noticed that in chat when failing or completing a mission with someone downed the game would revive them and display it in the chat. I think the game counts that as a down if your game session has a message like that.

I'm not sure if my reasoning is correct, but the fix worked for me first try.
