hel rifle was considered but it's kinda hard to get em aligned for max efficiency

Even if you kill one charge per bullet it's still very efficient
If a couple come around the corner with the .2 delay its kinda hard to get them all off you (though this is probs a personal preference)

28 bullets is plenty, and ideally you want the defender to be holding, say a 3-4 use ammo pack
The ammo situation in C3 could be quite tight, unless you melee kill pretty much everything in stealth and no scouts wake-up

hel rifle (with or without pen) is more efficient vs chargers than hel gun
its the same efficiency as choke mod vs them aswell but has possible pen kills and any hit is a kill (vs choke not doing so after 15 min or when a single pellet misses)
i found using hel rifle against chargers insufferable
something about combination of rev-up combined with how chargers move... disgusting

what's the optimal tool combo on that one? obviously bio because shadows, probably a sniper or shotgun to deal with chargers... not sure how useful cfoam and mines are. There are some doors, but then there are also no doors. Big thonk.
the squad was on its' way to do main scan and we just got absolutely rushed down by like 10 chargers from each side
mines + bio + 2 burst sentry will beat prettymuch any level
iirc there are doors to deal with every single alarm, except maybe the last one before getting the fog turbine as the spawns for that can be a bit rng, but even then there's a ladder for chokepoint focus. And most of the charger alarms are class 4 or below if I'm correct? With c-foam and mines you'll usually have enough time to finish the entire alarm scan before the chargers get to touch you so that can save quite a bit of ammo which is arguably the most important resource in C3. When I did it we had bio/cfoam/mine/shotgun sentry, I suppose you can take sniper sentry(s) as well if you can find the correct place to put it, burst sentry is ok I guess but they're aren't that great against chargers in general
if you're dedicating a person to fend off the charger error waves then hel revolver+hel rifle is probs the easiest combo
sniper sentry barely fires, I wouldn’t recommend using any sentry other than burst

i mean you can't contend with x4 chargers in melee so the only option is shooting them
but if you do that - then you're out of ammo in no time
and then they have the GOAL placing more charger alarms, big chargers, scouts, the full entourage... The only thing that's missing are the shadows.

If it makes you feel any better, barring R4E1 Extreme, it's the level I died the most before finishing it. I think it took like 5 tries and we really got the clear while we were all at 0% ammo or near that

Just had to make decision fast, if you think it's easy to get the turbine and leave, do it. If you think it's better to shoot the scout and pull, call it out then do it fast. I have like 50-50 when my runs end up clear or stealth the zone.

Tried R4-C3-PE twice - wipes.
Tried R4-D1+SEC twice - wipes.
Tried R4-D2-PE twice - wipes. This one hurt in particular - we fucked up in the literal last second and started the extraction alarm (without knowing) with overload objective chilling and waiting to be picked up. Then we couldn't decide what to do and got eaten in the extraction room by the tank and chargers tag-team.
I'm playing the whole day since i woke up to get ANYTHING done and there's 0 progress. I hate when there's 0 progress.

I have beaten every level up to R4C3 so far , which ended last time by reaching the extract scan, getting it to 70%, and then getting run over by chargers we didn’t have the ammo to kill
honestly, don't commit every run to PE, only suggest it if you are confident in your team
I think a good strategy for waves 3 and 4 of D1 is to hold in the last 2 rooms before the zone with the ton of scouts

first time we wiped because we couldn't find the last door and on my way back i got hit with a surprise wave right under my nose
I got eaten together with BioBishop and of course there was no way the guy and Hackett could fight off an entire 4/4 reactor wave by themselves.
2nd time we made it to secondary and... Bots are not great against mothers. We killed the first lonely one, but couldn't put a dent into the sisters.
Mothers are usually one of the only enemies teams will go far out of their way to avoid fighting

They auto wake when you open the door. An easy strategy is to rush the first one using c-foam nades you get from main. If you have chokemod that's fairly easy. Once the first one is gone the second one is no longer a threat
mines should still damage tank even if it doesn't instantly kill, I've seen it while doing OG R4E1 solo runs
we opened second door and ran a long way to a weakdoor, worked again.. dem mommas are fast chicks, always arrive first

The charger error itself is easily manageable until you opened the main bulkhead zone which then it can be a bit of a nuisance if you keep getting forward spawns when the front team is trying to retrieve the key in zones with BBC and charges then an error wave spawns on them
if you really want, you can sit outside of bulkhead door, let the regular enemies come, and then decide what to do from there
R4 is brutal

honestly, the 3 hardest part in the error imo are during tank fight, when opening side zones for key (if front spawns happen 2 times in a row or smth) and extract

These feelings towards C3 make me want to try and grab hani and friends and do the mission again

tank fight is "bad" only if the team REALLY has no idea how to fight a tank and side zones looked relatively fine as along as people didnt try to stealth them too much.

TBH yeah, front spawn for key zone would be a wrench in the plan for sure
To be fair I still think R4C3 PE is probably harder than doing, say R4D1 Extreme, where the only place you could get wiped at is the last zone of Main especially since timers are very generous (dont remember how it was in OG)
Thinking about it a bit more, R4C3PE has you do a lot of stuff with an error alarm going while R4D2PE merely has you going around with a cargo and shadow error, it's a long way but it doesn't require you to do alarms or anything

I stealthed it conventionally without the overload and it took a loooong time.
I PE'd that twice and I dont remember many aside from Error of Main and the last waves of Overload
And then we still decided to just bait the room and shoot them. I only took out the scout and backstabbed some chargers on the way back. We were not risking getting punched into the floor by bbc (some of them were disgustingly close to each other).

I had 2 squads wipe at the very end of that room's alarm scan.
The scan is done, but just can't hold off the army of chargers and get overrun.

And the furthest attempt wiped because the guy opened the door leading to the final turbine room while the final charger wave was still coming (he didn't realise that was the case).
So we got sandwiched between the final charger wave and whoever was inside the turbine room.

its a small amount of enemies but that room tries to capitalize on your mistake of maybe opening the door too soon so it triggers the scout

For what its worth - i don't think we had a chance. One guy dropped out mid game when secondary was already activated, so we wasted time searching for a replacement and as a result were at 60%+ infection across the board. There's no way we were making it out from the final surge scan.

Only 1 surge in the mission unless you go turbine, though I've skipped turbine in all my runs
It helps bypassing some surges with a single foamed door at the beginning, which is very healthy for ammo supply.

if you want to make the most out of a booster I would recommend cfoam portion, it trivialises all the alarms in main(esp the class 6 and 7 where you can permafoam), and the PE extraction is a joke as well with it
That does seem to be the 2nd best plan. Especially since i'm the one who's always on cfoaming duty. Only got like 1 weak booster though... But hey - better than nothing.
either that or i can stack like +100% sentry CPU speed, but sentry DPS is wasted on the surges that just keep respawning anyway
