um actually im not sure. but it seems like santonian was not really damaged that greatly by the energy surges.
I think the log was from d2
but yea I would agree that the world has probably gone to shit because of NAM-V
but im sure some powerfull organizations are still standing. potentially trying to find a cure
I've personally never seen a log past december of 2053
it's possible
so the facility went under in early 2054
Biocom trying to redirect Power is from the 4th of April 2054
oh ok see i was wrong lol
I love the smell of lore in the morning.
Will post the file when I get my ass out of bed and some coffee in the veins.
R6A1
XCEP-THEM-365
Also RIP Spear & Scattergun. Back to the depths of the KDS armory with you!
And that's the one. I have a text document written out in the event we need/want it.
there's also that EAS alert audio log on that expedition too
Are you referencing the audio log in the terminal on Red Alpha?
Here's the text file for XCEP
that's from everywhere
Gotcha.
and just a standard for when the last garganta servers collapsed
Can anyone please dm me what goes down in D1-D4 thanks i canβt play it but I wanna understand what happens
why can't you play it?
Because I donβt have friends to play it with
Here's a transcription of the audio file from B1:
do we now at which year were playing?
My best guess is around 2060-2070.
Does anyone remember which log or date where they initially crack open the meteor?
Nevermind, found the Cretasium log.
Trying to figure out a time frame between the initial infection of NAM-V versus when it ravaged the world. Its possible to calculate mortality rate versus potential survival rate over time.
Which could be used to determine the approximate remainder of survivors top side.
Nice to see that my theory about NAM-V apocalypse from four months ago has been proven true :D
Or the devs have just been watching all the theories in the chat and stolen them π
fredy faber moment
Ok ok ok, so... I am no mathematician, so I'm more than positive that I screwed the pooch somewhere here, but:
Taking the death and infection rate of the current global pandemic (280m), and removing the vaccine which has a 95% efficacy rate, the number of potential infected individuals skyrockets to 2.89 billion people. Subtracting that, that's approximately 4.86 billion survivors. That's roughly 38% of the world population infected and gone. This is with the current R-Naught rate of 5.7.
ah ah, remember that once you have NAM-V, you can only delay it
Right, I'm getting to that.
hypothetical spread would be exponential leading to everyone that isn't isolated to be infected
That's just the current Covid-19 number.
ah alright
With NAM-V:
NAM-V has an R-Naught rate of 17, which is approximately 2.89x more infectious than Covid-19 (5.7). The world population by the year 2050, according to the UN, is approximately 9.5 billion.
With that in mind, we can do some funky math here that I'm more than positive I've left a lot of things out but bear with my smooth brain:
2.89 billion x 2.98 = 8.62 billion, which then means there is only, approximately, 873.6 MILLION people left alive if we follow that same trend the entire way through.
Which means 90.9% of the world is infected and gone.
Which leaves us a total of 9.1% of the human population remaining.
Plus or minus.
"That's a lot of damage!"
Now, I know there is much more scenarios and numbers to involve, but I just wanted to throw a complete napkin math number out there for reference.
Now then, in case the infected turn into sleepers as we see them in game... The death toll will be even higher.
the math check out for an average
i might make a simulation to test out the infection spread
That'd be a good idea. I'm not sure how to do that one.
The math doesn't need to be accurate to prove that the NAM-V apocalypse happened
In my head I was like: "Well, if the R-naught is 17, that means if one person infects 17 people, and then those people infect 17 people each, that would be an insane number (something like 8.9 quintillion)."
Is all the lore from this rundown on the timeline/archive?
Timeline reading time it is
But putting that napkin math to a timeline, that's approximately 8.6 billion people in around 2-3 years.
Which, over 3 years, is 2.86 billion people per year, 238 million per month, 7.8 million per day.
NAM-V blasts through the contagion record, currently held by Bubonic Plague at 200 million, by day 25 at 1:30pm.
so instead of making a simulation i used one
after a month 99.8% of people would be infected with realistic social distancing
in a scenario that everyone fully obeys the rules
95.4% by a month
and in a perfect scenario where everyone does everything perfectly and the only way to infect someone is by being around 15cm from them
it would take around 150 days before everyone gets infected
97.6%
holy shit
take into account that around 2/3 of that are average people just very isolated
at least
safe to assume the world above is non existent
so a very small chance that big organizations would bbe working on cure
all researchers would've died since the parasite goes through class A hazmat suits
yes
how fucked up it is that you can get cured from the virus for a small time but you have to trade your memories for it
and you need to be a KSO
and that
have we looked at the possible theory that this was an invasion attempt gone wrong and we stumbled upon it and restarted the process?
Is this how the HSUs work?
yes and it's not likely
the meteorite didn't somehow teleport to the inner planets by their control
but i suppose flyers have the ability to teleport
but we don't know if it's at will
or if it can go into specific places
yes and no
they make the virus dormant
but were originally developed for a mission to mars
Oh okay, so we are infected, but survive by retiring to our HSUs post mission
kinda
i suppose so
Or by dormant do you mean like shingles from the chickenpox virus where one HSU use puts it dormant indefinitely
Have we considered that the flyers are just natives to that dimension who were also infected. Or is it more so the infection is part of their life cycle which can jump species
there are no signs of them being mutants of other lifeforms
for them to be the original species makes sense
Can I mention spoilers here for D1
ye
but it is a possibility
of course
spoilers are a given in this channel
So initially the flyers don't demonstrate any actual similarities to the infected humans, but the kraken definitely does, as it has tumors, uses the same strange biological projectiles as shooters, and demonstrates the bioluminescence of our typical human mutations
But yeah the flyers use a far different projectile, and have no similarities
Just something I immediately noticed after finishing the mission last night
The similarities also imply the infection leads to the same physical outcomes and mutations regardless of species
that wouldn't make sense though
there can't be such similarities between completely different species
Yet the kraken and our human infected demonstrate extremely similar phenotype
Rabies is one such virus which has symptoms that remain the same regardless of species
but it's rabies that makes it the same
so then it would be a sleeper characteristic
Oh yes that's what I'm saying, it implies the kraken isn't the same species as the flyers
Something that was infected
How intelligent are the flyers, is this an intelligently designed virus used to turn species into tools for dominating planets
DevWriters: eats popcorn
LOL
that's crazy. I think this is a maze runner situation where the warden are actually good and are using prisoners' to try to find a cure for NAM-V.
I don't think the original strain of NAM-V actually causes sleepers though. We know from Dauda's audio log that he was preforming experiments on people and in turn created sleepers. It could be possible that Dauda created sleepers accidentally trying to find a cure for NAM-V...
I dont think we have
For reference, red alpha is the code name for a rocket/spacecraft on a mission to mars, correct?
That cat person/dog person audio log in C2 sure is something
I'm super curious as to what that is, myself.
But all we know is that it's ghost-like, white skin w/ blue veins, skin like paper, and it can talk.
Special thanks to @solar nova for these vids!
sorry for interrupting but
has anything been said re: the creatures' inhuman toughness?
like, how they can get a grapefruit-sized hole punched thru their stomach and keep going?
(and don't even get me started on their ability to survive without heads...)
They probably lack dependence on vital organs.
All we have is the report being currently written by Dr Grem and Associates. It'll be a ~30-page biology study of the creatures. No promises as I have no idea, but I'd expect that to get dropped fairly early next year.
And we know for a fact that they're not carbon-based lifeforms.
but HOW π€
Well, for starters, they don't eat (theory) as we see zero evidence of bones or feces left behind, only rotting corpses. They more than likely don't have a brain, or, maybe even have multiple brains like a worm.
For strikers, the proboscis is probably taking up a majority of the interior chest cavity.
chunked up rotting corpses, mind
in B1 I found 1 or 2 guys... didn't have much bits left.
that's reasonable, their stomachs are quite distended as we see.
regarding this, it implies either an actively malicious instinct or that they are eating them to some degree.
I'd put my money on malicious instinct to protect the hive, like wasps/hornets.
Hmm, perhaps.
I mean, I don't know how much force is behind a striker's whip, but I'd bet you it's enough to knock you or me to our ass and break a few bones.
But at the same time, what use would it serve? Usually they'd stop attacking once the prey stops moving, if they don't intend on eating it.
So imagine a swarm of them hitting you, you'd become pulp in probably seconds.
It's a whip? So it is like a mantis shrimp then?
oh, most probably.
Ahh. Alright.
The proboscis striking you.
Yeah, yeah. I always thought it was like a mix of a mantis shrimp and lamprey, because you can see there is some biting action going on there.
raspin
Until the biology study drops, I can only theorize of what is actually happening, you know?
Ye, ye
And my thought process is that they continuously attack prey/threats when a certain pheromone is released, again like wasps/bees/ants. They keep attacking and attacking until they get the "all clear" pheromone.
Yes, and Scouts could be like... I dunno, focuses for said pheromone. Like radar towers.
It's why we see hornets continue to sting corpses when defending their nest.
Ahh, I see. That's reasonable.
That's my other theory, is the 'call' isn't what wakes up a bunch of sleepers/strikers, but the wave of, for lack of a better term, "incandescent pheromones" that we see pulse out.
But do the base-type creatures produce these pheromones themselves as well?
As far as spitters go... I have not a damn clue how they shoot out their little balls of light, nor on how it tracks us.
Nor what they even are.
I'd believe they do to an extent.
Well, they'd have to.
Alternatively, I have a head canon that they actually can emit certain frequencies of sound that humans can't hear to alert other sleepers of danger.
...That makes more sense, honestly.
Otherwise the scout wouldn't make as much noise as it did.
And they work through a really interesting variance of echolocation.
When I think about it, I think of an owl. If you've ever seen an owl's skull, their ears are much different than other birds and animals.
Speaking of D4, do we know what happens exactly ?
I assume the prisoners fell under severe amnesia so they can't remember things they've done before, but did they explore that part of the complex already or are they remembering different places of the complex where they had to retrieve data cubes ?
So, how the ears work: it basically creates a 3d image for the owl. It will bob it's head around in little circles/motions to pick up all of the sound it can to better track it's prey, like mice, squirrels, etc.
Sure is!
It's not that, really. From what I gathered of the scenario when I played through it the other night: the data cubes that we find, in my opinion, take us to alternate, similar, realities. My head canon for it reminds me a bit of the butterfly effect if you're familiar with it.
Like the data cubes are quantum tethers from one reality to the other.
I won't say that it is 100% the case, but here's my reasoning behind it: every time we pick up a cube, we're taken to the exact moment that we were dropped off by the lift, however the rooms remain the same, but the environments are much different.
The first time we're being chased by the floaters / strikers, the next time we're there, tons of Big Strikers, then we get the Chargers, and last we get the toxic fog.
ποΈ
yet we manage to go back to the "main" reality after the 4th data cube
Now, whether that's accurate or not.. I can't say for sure, I'll let the other guys and their infinite wisdom trump my head canon any day of the week.
But that's how I personally felt when experiencing that.
What if it's not sound, but touch? I'd like to think their "skin" has little hairs/tentacles on it that can detect heat and pressure changes. It would make sense to me since the infected person's head is completely mutilated once they've been taken over.
still got ears
Then why aren't they alerted when doors open?
It's possible. Again, I know Dr Grem and Associates are working hard on a life-like biology study for most, if not all, the creatures we see. I can't say for sure what is what until that study gets dropped.
But boy am I pumped to read a literal ~30 page report.
Doors moving might move air, but the facility isn't pressurized and I don't think air conditioning changes drastically from room to room.
me tooo~
oh you have no clue what's coming guys π
yet the fog turbine doesn't wake them up at all
π
it's insane so far
Gimme gimme books on anatomee
π
not yet buddy, just a Little longer π
It's a hive mind right?
I believe that is the current top theory.
Any idea on a release time?
yesyesyesyesyes
Or is that NDA'd?
I estimate release before the end of the week for certain
but can't say any specific date yet
I can release one bit of information for you
the new current scientific name for sleepers will be "Vermis Multitudinem" unless we come up with something better
who doesn't
Wanted to go to school for neurology but then I found out IT and then I found out Hazmat and emergency response.
π
sleep, school, eat, game, eat, work, eat, game, repeat
I haven't listened to slipknot in so long
I used to and then (gonna' trigger some people maybe) I learned about real music.
/s
I love me some good ol' fashioned deathcore and slam.
But I'm more of a Punk enthusiast, these days.
ahhh I respect it
Though I will say: I did buy some tickets to go see Signs of the Swarm, Fit for an Autopsy, and Enterprise Earth next year. Gonna' be a hell of a show.
Find me in the pit screaming in fear like I just woke up a room of Mothers and Titans (Fathers?).
ππ
Shit, what is the actual name of those guys?
Titans? Hydras? Fathers?
Fat-Ass Kill-A-Bitches?
I dig Shadow of Intent on occasion. I'm not normally in to Orchestral Black/Deathcore.
One of those bands I have to be in the mood for.
Ne Obliviscaris moment
Too many different genres of music these days, why can't they all just be unified
Where music lore
Yeah, I feel it. I don't care for overly specific labels, but based god forbid you're not overly specific about genres these days.
Can't tell you how many times I've been "ACKSHUALY"d because I just say 'metal.'
Like, its all metal whats the problem
^^^^^^^^^^
Its why i shittalk pop even tho there is some pop that i like but its niche
Id be damned if i remember what its called tho
Also people care when i don't know names to pop songs... Like i don't listen to pop leave me alone. I can barely remember the names of metal songs i listen to
The closest I get to pop music is Jazzhop, but even then that's so unheard of in the MSM.
I stumbled upon fucking rap/metal and that's the closest I'll get to modern Western pop
@leaden dagger What is the official name of the titans/fathers/Hydras? I've heard so many names for that big guy that I never know what it truly is.
I fuck with Rap/Metal, ngl. Lmfao.
I'mma just call them 'Oh Lawd He Comin' from now on.
There havent been any official name drops in game about what they are called other than the colloqial "sleepers"
Heckin' Chonkers.
I feel bad for my team mates sometimes. I call things like: "Sleepers, Spitters, Big Bois, Chickenwings, Hybrids, Hedgehogs, Mega Bois, and Smokey Baby Bitches."
We have heard snatchers from Schaeffer but we are assuming he means the sleepers
Wait, maybe I'll just call Mothers "Trailer Park Queens" because that's what they remind me of from when I lived in a small farming town.
Monster A, Monster B etc
I totally forgot you asked this earlier, my apologies on super late reply.
Red Alpha is the name of the space ship that crashed into Mars, and I believe (someone will correct me if I'm wrong) it's also the code name for the alternate reality we get thrown in to with the Matter Wave Projector/Crystals.
I mean
Alpha 2 and Alpha 1 are just stations in that dimension
It could just be Mars
It's incredibly unlikely that the dimension we're thrown in is Mars; the atmosphere in that dimension has breathable air where Mars, as we know it, does not.
Its probably a different planet
Here's the transcript of the audio file from the terminal in B1 in the alternate dimension.
Do we know its an alternate dimension or are we just speculating
We know nothing, other than that the tampered data cube sends us to different versions of that area of the complex.
I'm not entirely sure if we know 100% as fact, but we do know that the crystals act as catalysts for "teleportation" (quantum entanglement).
I have yet to play D4. Sounds dope.
D4 scary
So the tampered data cube does not send you to the desert?
No
Damn ok
Youll see when you play
I have a decent head canon but I don't want to spoil it for you, Sky.
Very much worth finding a group to do it with, or if you're lucky enough, a decent player who's willing to sherpa.
Who tf came up with the stupid term sherpa btw
The origin is actually a tribe of Tibetans who occupy the areas around Mt Everest.
No for the game
Oh, it's a universal thing.
Universal gaming term.
I've heard it in WoW, Destiny, etc.
Literally never heard of it
Why not just call them "carriers" because thats what they do
They carry peoples dumbasses
Yeah, the word came to be because of "casual" mountain climbing becoming a hobby, so people hired the Sherpa tribe to guide them through the safe parts of Everest, which then the word kind of rolled in to standard use.
I'm not sure why the gaming community picked it up, but that's your origin. Lmao.
I'd like to think there's a difference between a sherpa and a carry. Carries usually pull the weight of others, while a sherpa is willing to teach and guide.
In pubs, nearly noone is competent enough to learn so its all carrys :^)
True. Though, in most of the PUGs I get, people tend to leave after the 2nd or 3rd wipe, so it makes sense I guess?
Not a lot of folks want to put their nose to the grindstone for victory. It's normally for the instant gratification.
Its easy enough to teach in beginner groups but convincing more experienced players that they are playing like shit is near impossible
deadass
I've got a group we just haven't played it yet. It seems like a dope level though
I mean, I'm a scrubnoob. I'm always willing to learn new things. For example, I finally rebound my crouch button to 'C' instead of L-Ctrl so I can sprint slide.
Did that like 2 days ago.
smart man
sprint slide gang
People with like 100 hours in pubs are like the Brads of american high schools
Lmfao.
I cant wait for r7 and have r5 difficulty spikes between tiers again
Idk, I kinda' made the (biased) realization that a lot of PUGs don't want to grind for the victory. My example is: I spent 6 days trying to complete C2 Extreme because I had groups that would get so close to completion, but would just blue-ball the group.
facts
same
i stil havent done it bc i dont have time
usually
And now my grind(s) are C3 PE and D3 PE.
And i can just watch all the carnage of players getting broken by new r5c1 methods
C2 extreme is annoying
so annoying
But fun
especially with people who dont know what they're doin
I enjoyed it, honestly. I learned so many new ways to play and new strats and it was fun to figure out.
i can only teach and coach so much π’
Finally got a group that was worth it's weight.
I learned in d4 that you can clutch even with impossible odds and insane luck
how long is D4
My real problem is learning how and when to micromanage my ammo and learning how to not miss every other shot.
Like 90m max
cool
Uhhh my group did it in about 1hr 45m; would have been faster but we wiped just before extract.
Really bad luck on mob spawns.
I do realize that I need to go back through all of the missions and sift through all of the terminals to see if there are any more text/audio logs.
||sprinted through fog and spitters on 2% with a bunch of strikers on my ass in a room i didn't know and got lucky finding the data cube in the first box nearby||
I've made it my mission to convert in-game text/audio logs in to written notepad files to share here.
D4 is very fun
I have screenshots of some C1 logs if u want them

I think I have them all? Send them my way so I can double check.
alright
I do know I need to convert Schaeffer's audio logs.
I'm sure there are some I missed; I went in to each mission and read logs on the first terminal I found.
I'm sure there are logs on different terminals throughout the mission(s).
I'm just waiting for Chase to compile everything tbh.
I'll just sit here and throw on some jams while I sip on a berry smoothie and continue converting logs to notepad files.
Something something hipster yadda yadda
sounds fun
lore channel
In the notion that there is no lore to be had in C3? Absolutely rage inducing.
We at least should be rewarded with a text log.
Are the logs from some of the doors in R6 uploaded for listening?
I can't find them on the lore database.
chase put all audio logs into #wiki-chat a few days ago, including the ones from doors
#wiki-chat message
C2 audio log was most interesting to me. Right after the check point. Bishop or whoever he is i forget is talking to something sentient that isnt human and you hear it ask him how he is and stuff. Its so wierd and interesting. I wonder who or what it was. It's voice was so alien.
it prolly was the thing described by shaeffer in some audio log?
the one he mentioned he was gonna kill
@icy swift oh yeah i just found the audio file dump on the wiki. yeah it was schaefer. how come he sounds a little bit like dr durant? is that anything.
i was pinged
dang
From The Black Hole?
Jeez, I hope we don't get an audio log of him getting shredded by an angry robot.
Y'know what I just thought of?
They bleed.
The creatures DO bleed, and when they pulse we can sometimes see visible veins, or at least similar internal systems.
It can't just be leftovers from their origin, because then it wouldn't flow, and the spurting we see when crushing their heads
(
) does imply some form of flowing.
btw the sleeper analysis is almost done
What is sleeper analysis? Just getting into all the lore..
a report me, dagga and dr. grem are writing
ok - in the database with all the logs, is there a way of seeing newly added logs?
i don't know if chase has added them yet
ah ok
SLEEPER
ANALYSIS
SOON
Bless you three for becoming PhD's in Sleeperology for us plebs.
i still have other stuff to work on
like your idea on why we go in only when it's raining
that would be groundbreaking if i manage to prove it
So long as we understand at the end of the day that not everything might have a lore reason behind it, but a stylistic choice to set the mood for the mission(s), yeah.
I think it'd be a cool little attention to detail, otherwise.
climate
permanently raining?
it's either raining 24/7 or we go specifically when it rains
hmmmm
could just be really bad hydraulic leakage π€‘
it doesn't seem possible even if it was a constant monsoon
and raining in yucatan, mexico
no it really isn't
The idea behind my theory: sound is muffled over distance by rain, especially during steady / heavy rain, and I would imagine the mechanics of the drop are super loud, especially when the sound gets amplified by the giant tube we're dropping in to.
Good idea, that one. Especially being that sound is a major attractor for sleepers.
Don't want anything crawling out, do we?
yeah it's a forest
but not a rainforest
it's mostly small trees and shrubs
I dont think it's that, necessarily, but to keep ears from the outside world in the dark.
Oh, that too?
Well, when they were alive*
Yeah, I assumed that not much is going on upstairs, given the state of the place.
Also, is there anything in the analysis about Flying Polyps?
so apparently it is pretty rainy during june through mid october
although it's very scattered
Given that approximately, by Daraxus' simulation, only 9% of the 9.5b people are still alive? Yeah, not a lot is going on. Lmfao
Bit deep there
around 0.2% not including very isolated places
OH, right.
so 1.5 million alive
I got yours and mine mixed.
yeah
oh dearie me
and take into account that most major research corporations, WHO and others are gone for sure
they are the first to respond
and the virus carrying parasite goes through class A hazmat suits
so the biggest ones are the first to respond and the first to collapse
all specialists that could help, most likely dead
d'ye have any information on the biological bonanza analysis
my question re: flying polyps and their examination
writing that currently
but there isn't much info on the kraken or flyers
i can only include possibilities
The what
D1
don't tell me
To give an idea of just how small 1.5 million people are: that's the entire city of Pheonix, AZ, or Philidelphia in the US. By EU standards: Barcelona, Stockholm, Kharkiv.
It's funny tbh
I've been trying to dodge spoilers in the biggest spoiler chat of them all like a goddamn dark souls player
me dodging spoilers
heheh

So I see.
Phone be auto-correcting but doesn't understand grammar.
Phone be a binch
See, like no apostrophe on doesn't. Like wtf. "Smart phone" my ass.
One of the first things I always do when getting a new phone is to turn autocorrect off
Another question more related to physics:
go ahead
With how deep Garganta is... would the heat and pressure of the depth we go affect us?
the pressure isn't close to fatal due to there being real world mines that are deeper
Geologists theorize for every mile (1609 meters) we descend, the temperature rises about 15f and pressure per square inch increases by 7300 lbs.
Gotcha.
it is in fact near a tectonic plate border
but estimates show that it would range from 30C to 60C
but it appears to be on the lower end
Gotcha. I wasn't sure how the physics of PSI worked with depth.
'Cause I know the average human can sustain like 40psi of pressure if it's sudden, and a gradual increase of about 400psi before the skull caves in.
Uhhh... I'm not sure how to convert that one. I think the metric variant is Pascals?
1psi = 6.8kPa, so...
Sudden impact: 275.8 kPa
Gradual increase/sustained: 2757.9 kPa
Before our bones get obliterated. π
OH I SEE HOW THEY DO IT.
also that data is very incorrect
So mining companies pump cold air in to the mines to regulate temperature and also to reduce the pressure of all of the gasses from things like coal.
yes
there are mines about 4km deep
Which, with that current method, makes pressure only twice the amount it is at surface level.
here's some sadly non-refereed paper
but it gives more realistic numbers for comparision
Hmm.. I wonder if I mistook the one that I read as water pressure instead of barometric.
possibly
probly
given that pressure increases very quickly the deeper you go in water, and compounds much more as well
[is that right?]
yes
Yeah, with water pressure, every 10 meters down = +1 atmosphere.
haha internal organs go KRRTCH
now you can easily realise why going to the bottom of the mariana trench is so amazing
crunch crunch crack
your ears start hurting at 2 atmospheres
and they are over there sitting at almost 1100 atmospheres
Did they actually manage to get down there?
yes
Recreational SCUBA divers max out at 130 feet (40 meters) after being properly trained, otherwise basic trained SCUBA divers are allowed 60 feet (18 meters).
yeah
the deepest a scuba diver went is 230 meters or so i think
anyway
scoobers aside
has any thought been given to the uhhh
blood thing
I'd imagine it has
what blood thing
Geez, 230 meters... I can't even begin to imagine the pressure that's exerted on the body. Like that has to feel like being constantly crushed.
Holy.
That the sleepers have a working blood/vein system?
Yes, that, that
I'm more than positive that will be explained in the biology report.
I don't really have a head canon for it because they melt in to that black ooze.
liquefaction
(Unless that's a stylistic choice to reduce the load on the game client and hardware).
that's COOL, tbh
I like it when corpse removal is like
anchored to the world
and it doesn't just like
go poof
y'know
eeeh I dunno
It's just hard to explain that with physics. Things melt to the point they leave nothing behind; no puddle, no smoke/gas, it's just... gone.
Pure science fiction at that point, I think.
pretty much
I'm pretty sure they melt in order to reduce lag
Yeah, that was my next comment. I'm 99.9999% sure there is no lore reason for it, just stylistic choice to fit the aesthetic of the world.
visible gas
Regardless, still makes awful material for barbecue with the lads.
to say the least
Go to take a bite and it just melts away. Sadge
Has anyone noticed that if u shine ur flashlight on a decomposing sleeper all that is left behind for a second is the shadow version of it?
object perminance
might have something to do with shadows
the light mask lasts a bit longer
shadows are currently impossible to explain
it does not happen with tanks or mothers
i imagine it's a programming thing for the shaders
yea it could be, looks exactly like shadows thou
maybe that's how they programmed shadows xd
just normal enemies except no texture map
100% opacity
seems reasonable from a programming prespective
I think I recall a log that describes a shadow. It was a transcript of a conversation between a santonian worker and a therapist. he was describing the time he heard a "thwap" noise and looked back in the tunnel and saw a dark black human looking thing that was looking at him.
I think it was on one of the b or c levels
r6?
yea
i'll check the audio file dump chase did
dope, I dont think it was an audio log though
transciption?
yep
no, it was someone else
hopefully chase updated the timeline
nope
alright i don't know what log it is then
if you could post it
yea I dont have it i should of taken a screenshot of it
it honestly might of been on d1
or I could be tripping
it's not on d1
are u sure
actually I think it was d1... just checked with my teammates and they said they think it was from d1
its on D1, log name is DT-E105-009
dope, do u have a screenshot
ah the wiki
if its on the wiki i can find it
nope, havent gotten to those lvls yet π¦
it's not
oh ok
cool thanks
oh neat, I managed to put in the correct order, im suprised π
nice
that one seems different
not like a shadow since it wouldn't just disappear
So what did we learn from this rundown lore wise so far
there is multi-dimensional travel, two new mentioned creatures
a new planet with new enemies
schaeffer stuff
and a lot more
The Schaeffer stuff is wild. Hearing whatever it was he described was eerie at 2am last night.
where was it described? I thought he was only talking to it
another audio log
His first audio log talks about what he saw, the second is him talking to it.
From C1.
yeah
oh ok
yea that shit was creepy
i've seen the transcription but haven't heard the actual log
Here they are
2nd one is the talking?
"White skin, blue veins, paper-like skin, and covered in ashes... like from a fire."
Queue the voice we hear.
I think I know what Schaffer was talking about when he mentioned the fire and the bodies outside. Its probably from that email "Your friends at SMC", from April 20, 2049. Describing the bodies and the fact that Gustavo Peres wants them burned.
something could've mutated from that pile and lived
explains why it's made from seemingly attached body parts
Yep yep, and that goes further in an email I found last night that explains Kovac knew about the 3500 bodies that were burned.
oh fuck yeah that's exactly it
those are the bodies peres wanted burned
at least a part of them
Yep.
i remember hearing that log for the first time lmao
i was like ".... Raz? MONSTERS INC?!"
LMAO
hey dagga
WAIT, WAIT, WAIT... Tinfoil hat moment
I just made a realization, I think
"I also know that your arrangement with Gustavo Peres is turning sour, and you may need to remove him from the picture (we can help with that)."
Queue the audio log from...
B1.
we haven't heard peres' voice iirc
"Ben and Gustavo were taking readings at different elevations to see if there's a
habitation zone."
punk
Yes?
yet again a fucking amazing idea
So, tinfoil hat moment:
new lore mole addition
write about it
yeah he is one for sure
Gustavo was a part of that expedition and Janson Davies wanted him gone because he knew something.
So Janson probably made that switch flip to cut the entanglement referenced....
and the quantum tether didn't hold as far as I can tell from this end. This means either:
A. we've had a catastrophic system failure on our end, unlikely. Or B. something has happened
at Garganta, which we have no way of knowing. There is a "C" but that would suppose the data
sent back from the Hammerstein Probe was falsified, which... no, I won't believe that."```
Before fighting the flying things.
so they abandoned him on Alpha?
Here's my theory:
Janson wanted Gustavo gone, so knowing that Gustavo was sent for this expedition, fucked with the Hammerstein Probe so that it frazzled out the telemetry to get rid of him
But, using the others on the team as like...
"Sorry, you gotta' die too."
yeah, damn
And boom. It looks like an accident.
It seems more likely to me that Gustavo is a KSO, not that he's intended to die here.
The option C seems more likely to me, based on how the audio log is presented.
Right.
I mean looking at it as it's written, Janson found his way to rid himself of Gustavo by sacrificing the others to make it look like an accident so that he wouldn't be found out.
He's a KSO, he can't be found out.
not necessarily
remember that one D tier dude who was trying to blackmail Davies?
wait
that was fuckin
uh
fuckin
He's literally on this mission as well.
yeah
I think they're just KSOs now.
Remind me what KSO means?
I forget the acronym. I have to remember too many for work.
The Legion.
Thank you.
Kovak Special Operative (which i prefer)
this is the one i use
Isn't it explicitly Kovac Security Operative?
no clue
it's never mentioned i believe
There is also growing concern over the practice of Martial Trafficking, as many of the operatives used by BIOCOM (designated as Kovac Security Operatives) come from unknown origins, have no legal rights or status, and have been trained using methods that break the Zurich Concord of 2042.
ahah
From US-DOD-RED1.LOG
i was correct then
epic
Well, here's my thought process/theory:
Gustavo knew a lot about what was going on behind the scenes, and in a fit of paranoia or potentially finding out that maybe Gustavo might have been feeding info to the UN, decided that he was a loose end?
And what better way to stop info from being passed on than making an "oopsie" in a manner that didn't make him seem suspicious of foul play?
kinda like a schaeffer story
It just seems very very unlikely that Gustavo would be at Garganta, unless he's a KSO.
So, it's more likely to me that these were events prior to the team being sent to Alpha 2.
he is a KSO for sure
probably
but we still don't have a date for the crystals being found out
But if he were a KSO, why would Anders sacrifice one of his own for a client?
Unless Anders wanted him gone, too?
money and reputation
I don't think it was intentional that they get stuck there.
that client could contribute a lot more than one KSO
That is true.
probably since there wouldn't be any need to explicitly say that it could've been a sabotage
And idk, considering what Dr. Durant stated, I'm willing to bet foul play is involved versus miscalculations or faulty equipment.
i mean if their memories are wipped, then it wont be required to kill him off right
memory wiping takes time in an HSU
Though, I will absolutely consider faulty equipment.
I feel the opposite, it seems likely that the Hammerstein probe had bad data for some reason.
but yes he did say there could have been foul play
lots of time
but wasnt durant an important researcher?
it was years for bishop wasnt it? before he forgot Davies?
And that's why my tinfoil hat theory is that the probe was intentionally fed bad data.
i forget who had the beef
and that's an HSU being used for useless stuff that could've been solved quicker
would he be so expendable
with the amount of money and power Santonian has, yes
Kovak has*
but the world above has goen to shit
right, Kovac sorry
Not at the time that audio comes from, from out knowledge.
this all happened before
confused timelines
y keyboard
also was it kovak or kovac
kovac+
kovac
catto wanna learns more about GTFO lore
aight
Potato potawto.
He wanted to write lore theory, too.
unfortunately he is not smart enough
My cat does the same, except she likes to press buttons when I'm almost dead in certain games.
its fine, we accept everyone
unless ".............,-00000" has some meaning
cat moment
my cat likes to roll on my keyboard while im doing school work
very helpful
cats
they're pretty funky
yes yes
So I have an incredible lore theory
What if
The devs havenβt fully figured the story yet
and?
cold take, move it on
And hence why we barely know anything
The lore is fake
we have figured out almost everything that's not a new thing introduced in r6 like flyers
yeah
I remember someone telling me that the devs rewrote the lore in of the earlier rundowns
^
i think r2 was when actual logs started appearing
ayee
ay grem
sup Dr Grem
Sup.
document is almost done π
we have

Praise the sun
at least somewhat
in don't recall us rewriting any of the lore. we did reveal more of it as time progressed from Alpha to now based on feedback from players that they wanted more lore revealed.
But the lore of GTFO is pretty fucking deep
fuck yeah
gtfo is super simple on the surface but it can go so deep. it truly will never cease to amaze me even with things i've seen before
like
we literally have talked around 6 hours about what the toxic fog is
true
and that's the less time intensive ones
You're telling me the toxic fog isn't toxic fog?
Sup, i don't really crawl around lore but that was interesting
the only chat i'm active in is this one
same here
or technical support
I'm crawling around for when people ask about "is this good/bad", as you 2 know by now
Damn numbers
heh
sawed off is good though
π€¨
Won't go into it as lore chat but
Sawed good
Carbine trow it inti the garbage
Anything you have fun with is good in my book
true
Did you have the NAM-V idea before Corona? Or did you expend after the outbreak
because i found nothing in the logs dated before 2020
Creature gave me good incite that my theory is 95% incorrect, as biofuel doesn't have any toxic fumes.
yeah
But the idea is still there.
but making it does
and all the materials do
and they probably make it in garganta to keep company secrets
Idk to me it seems more like theories than a solid a foundation however I do think what we do know is fascinating
the fog has been a hot debate for a long time
but mostly stuff we have established
like a month i think
yup
πfr
Lmfao we go through eras here.
exactly
it's the Era of the enlightenment
yeah
if you are new listener, let me say; welcome to the enlightenment
before it was the great starvation
let me take a moment here to set things up for you
The idea/theory I had is the use of cyanophyta. They produce toxins that are the #1 cause of ALS (think Stephen Hawking's disease) in 3rd World Countries and have the ability to be used as biofuel in the future; since there are a lot of reactors underground, it makes sense not to use nuclear power, but biofuel for safety.
They also share the same blue-green hazy color.
oh man i feel dumb as i cannot understand that as much
otherwise it's narrowing down from 100 different neurotoxins
It's algae. π
Guys I have a question, and I'm totally unsure of if I am in the right chat
tbh i would understand that if i put effort, i just tend not to now that i read it more carefully
go ahead
but uhh, me and my friends and we are stuck in the B1 level like straight as*es, do yo have advice for us?
Lmao. Felt that. It made my brain hurt doing the research.
ah that's for #gtfo-related-questions
but
what exactly are you stuck on
you won't be ready for this insane doc drop happening later
CONFIRMED TODAY?
yes

on the zone right after zone 35, one of us idiots keep getting touched by the tentacules of the monster
and we all genuinely die out of lack of ammo and health
bruh i'll be testing how to melee giants with the help of a stagger with a sniper sentry or something like that
well that's kind of a thing you just have to deal with
the scout is like that
We read that if you kill it in less than 2 seconds, it won't do anything
1.5 roughly
Just have one person go in to deal with the scout; or if there aren't any other sleepers nearby, a shotgun or sniper to the head will take it out.
tip is to start charging a hammer or spear (bat maybe) and go in while it's retracting its tentacles
if you want an easy solution, sniper
ammo should be fine if you don't alert anything
probably means you are not stealthing enough
yeah
Yep, stealth is key in this game. Ammo should be a last-use resort or for sticky situations.
try going as slowly and carefully as possible
Mhm, we call ourselves trains cuz we go too fast in clearing rooms, that might be why
^^^^
and it gets worse and worse
that is why
Lol
shooting is fine if you are good, memeing and doing something not too difficult
Is it possible when ur 2 in the squad?
Yep; this game punishes bad aim and mag-dumping pretty hard.
Because they don't change the difficulty proportionally to the number of players
lmaoo
Correct, it's always 4-player difficulty. π
that doesn't stop anyone though
damn madlads
But the game is genuinely beautiful though
still planning the pacifist run for a second time
It's hard but I love it
yeah
gtfo is a game where you can have fun no matter what
no idea why but it's like that
Like I can't really rage because we all die like idiots lmaoo
yeah
