Audio log was released 1.6 days ago approx, next log is in 2d 14h, and then 4d, and then 4d 14h
XXX-4-WRDN.LOG 4 days 15 hours
MAH-HS-666.LOG 4 days 1 hours
EBDT-B55-VFS.LOG 2 days 15 hours
Yeah, a little weird.
7PM EST is a weird time for Swedes, too.
It's automatic when they unlock so it doesn't matter that much
4 days?
ye
isn't the anniversary in 5 days?
I'm surprised there's no in-game countdown.
Maybe this is the countdown to the countdown 🧠
It honestly could be
Mayhaps possibly, it's 10C we're talking about, anything can happen at any given moment 🧠
Roadmap suggests they're approaching the end as well, main hold-up appears to be back-end-related.
I'd expect that when Matchmaking: Server Migration is green, the update is pretty much completely finished.
I fully suspect that project will be biggest time sink.
Not that nothing else could end up being a lot harder than expected, that's just the most obviously difficult thing to implement.
feel like we'll have a timer next week or at least 5 days
I think the last log will trigger a timer
the Warden log
yes
Doesn't it seem fitting
the warden releases a message ordering ksos to start recovering the complex
and then a timer appears
that would be cool
When were these logs added, btw?
Yeah, the new ones.
There's a decent chance they were added specifically because they have a good idea of what development will look like in the coming weeks.
Thursday with the release of the audio log, today with the release of the DOD log, monday for the EBDT log, wednesday for the MAH and WRDN log
All of them are within a week of each other
I think
Come wednesday
we are gonna see a 8 day timer
Thats my prediction
Wednesday from when the last log is released*
I think the big reveal at the end of the game is that BIOCOM got stuck on some task to acquire some worthless object that just happens to be at the bottom of everything.
Dunno what gave you that idea :^)
When is anniversary
9th?
10th
Final lore drops 00:00 Thursday 9th December for Sweden i think
If ive done my maths correctly
It feels far too convenient
But they wouldnt put a timer of only 1 day would they
Itd be funny if it was exactly 2 years in early access
Damn, 4.8 month rundown length on average.
timer on anniversary
that is going to be the announcement

US-DOD-RED1.LOG
why is this DOD-RED
instead of DOC-RED
He wanted to hide the fact that he worked on it
With the newest teaser I’m kinda thinking that symbol may have something to do with shafer (I think that’s the guys name)
Rereading the new log, it doesn't appear that all KSOs are the sorts of people expected to come from the Legion, but it's still unclear if the accounted for are still prisoners with severe sentences or if some of them are there w/ memories intact.
Hackett calls himself a "merc," I believe, so hard to know if he was a KSO.
Although, it does seem like they're documenting them for certain members, i.e. Hackett, so more likely they're all the Legion.
Oh shit, March 2nd 2050 mentions Project Insight. This is over 2 years before K-UX-DeepScan, so it seems like the organization was probably kicking around for some time working for Dreyfus before they were assigned to lead the work in Garganta.
Probably a research division of some sort.
thanks fam this was an interesting read
do you think this sort of ties in with the warden being an AI?
and to be funded by the US government is a pretty big deal
i reckon they work directly with the legion program, given that the US has so many overcrowded prisons
easy access to plenty of legion candidates
it also says that the research was primarily for the US government anyway
so is it more of a future dystopia type thing than we first thought?
Big if true
I stayed up late and everything to get the snipe on the last log
Then
0 days 0 hours
if it makes you feel better then this one won't be so early
I just remembered something. in the r5 audio log with... dauda? didn't he say "we're all infected with the virus"?
or am I just misremembering it
I think he said "we all have the virus" or something similar
I would very much appreciate a text transcript of the log because the audio quality and Dauda's accent make it a bit hard to understand at some points.
"We all carry the virus now"
Dunno that anyone could know that tbh.
That is quite interesting actually - this leads to five possible scenarios:
- Dauda still has the virus
- The prolonged time he spent in hydrostasis has cured him
- A cure has been found to the virus and used on him
- Scenarios 2 and 3 - the reason The Warden might still be trying to find a cure for the virus in the complex (I think that's the most likely objective of The Warden) is that hydrostasis has the side effect of causing memory loss.
- Dauda thought he was infected when he actually wasn't.
He is a doctor himself so I'd assume he would know if he had the virus or not
I think him having the virus would be a massive liability in the eyes of The Warden, so I think he was either cured (which then makes me rethink the reason the Warden sends prisoners into the complex), or the long time he spent in hydrostasis somehow weakened or killed the virus, but it isn't a really good cure for the virus because it causes a memory wipe.
Potentially, he was cured of it, like that one person that had rabies and was cured by going into a coma
Except hydrostasis
But it might be like aids, but remission.
Or chickenpox or shingles
I do remember that the startup screen always says some stuff about infection and shit, so that could point to something
so maybe the infection fog re-instates the virus? or wakes it up?
I wonder if Nam-V was a bio weapon?
if the whole thing about hydrostatis sort of killing the virus, it probably just re-infects them
just because you got cured from the virus doesn't mean that you are immune to it like a vaccine
it's possible but there was no information about anything like that being made. also they didn't know about the virus even the higher ups expressed confusion about the effects it causes
could be
ahh ok gotcha
then the virus gets re-activated when you go into the fog
yuh thats what I'm thinking
do we know how long Dauda was in hydrostasis before being woken?
i don't think so
damn
sounds like the baseline is a few years but not sure
makes me a little curious if maybe hydrostasis was originally for deactivating the virus, then they found the memory loss too?
just pulling that outta my ass though
Didn't they invent hydrostasis for the manned mars mission?
or at least the funding for the research under that premise
also i've deduced the biology of how sleepers detect things
😂
it's low to mid frequency echolocation
flashbacks of our B1 run came flooding in
oh yeah
that would explain why the lock melters and fog repellers don't wake them up
they are quite high pitched
also they don't detect you when you break line of sight since sound doesn't go well through walls and such
21 hours left.
21 hours from what?
new log unlock?
Ye
pog
I call dibs on first read
666 file should be pog (2.3 days)
so we have 5 files
State of truth audio: Stoop throat virus spreading in florida outside of gargantia
Department of defense: warfare management AI was successful but used condemnable actions via KSOs and is to be defunded
ebdt-b55 log: 21 hours
666 log: 2 days 7 hours
warden log: 2 days 21 hours
gonna guess that we learn more about the warden and what its doing.
My guess is that the Gargantia flu virus is/has spread around the world and the warden council and AI have been activated to send KSOs (us) to poke around garganta where the virus was found to see if they can find a cure or the means to make one
Seems more likely the WRDN is a rogue AI with some unknown ultimate goal.
Defeating the sleepers might be its final objective, since that seems to have been Kovac's objective late in their campaign while they were tasked with security.
It's just seen the situation and decided, by its own calculations, that it has the better plan.
It's kind of a guerilla war, tbh.
Why do you think the warden is an AI
The characters always reference it as multiple people?
Not canonically.
US-DOD-RED1.LOG and FTR-044-V.LOG, the latter even mentions "WRDN: override"
"get what the warden want, and get home" "Fuck them! Fuck the warden!"
KSOs dont know what the warden actually is
yes
Schaeffers audio log has him say "he knows its name. The Warden he called it. Said it just popped in there"
Maybe its several AI working together like Portal 1 glados with all the personality modules?
In this case it could be AI and multiple entities
There may be multiple DI but the only one working on Garganta seems to be the warden
The reason I don't entirely trust the first quote is the age of the material, and how it might have been written. It could be that their story direction has changed, and they originally envisioned the Warden as an organization of people, but the writing direction shifted over time, probably due to some combination of how the story was developing on their ends and new talent being brought on-board. It could also be that this line was written with the intention of Woods being an unreliable narrator, or with the intention of being vague such as to leave room for the story to be written independent of this dialogue.
True, it is an older quote, I agree there
"them" still works
But Schaefer still refers to the warden as a them rather than an it
If the devs had it planned to be a memory wipe based program from the start then its fine
Referring to "what the Warden want," here.
Singular
they
is
grammatically correct.
?
Singular they is grammatically correct, what about that statement isn't contained within that statement?
Ah I see where you're coming from
"Dave went to the store yesterday. They bought two dozen eggs." This is grammatically correct.
yes
It is a little unusual though, I dont hear that particular grammar in conversation often
It's not particularly unusual.
possibly left ambiguous on purpose, or maybe schaffer's insanity creeping through
It's pretty common especially if gender or identity is ambiguous.
true
true
I seem to remember the warden speaking at some point?
or at least communicating with the team
^
you have to get what the warden want and go home
A mid level objective update or something?
I dont remember maybe Im getting mixed up
There was a very meaningless audio clip that played when you pulled up level info, actually no clue if this is still a feature.
If they removed it, I hope they bring it back.
Yeah, it's still in
blends in after so long...
which level
All of them.
what
^
Not me
I was think the same thing
Might some weird code
Does it change level to level
?
yall reckon this was written by a machine or a human?
seeing as theres a spelling mistake im leaning toward human
Exctraction
Easy to miss tbf
More likely an error on the dev's part.
If anything, the reactor shutdown animation implies either an AI or a script based on the rapid-fire actions.
maybe, but surely someone playtesting would have seen it
game unplayable 0/10
That's very dubious.
let me lead you to prepatch C2 overload
Agreed
Its really easy to miss grammar mistakes like in that weird text illusion
Grammer mistakes = unplayable
This one seems automated, but why is there an ellipsis
If there was hidden meaning behind these transmissions the devs would probably hide it some other way
I am flip flopping between reading hard to analyse the lore and reading too hard into meaningless patterns
We could either believe an extremely old audio clip from a trailer and the grammar of various in-game objective messages, or we could believe the very explicit and intentional logs we have about BIOCOM, the Warden, and their potential associations.
The only out of place part is the warden caring about us
You make a good argument
Any speculation on what this next log will be
All of the EBDT logs have been pretty random. Emails, news snippets, state of truth audio, etc. The two we've gotten have been pretty damn interesting, so I'm praying for something of note, probably an email between two people that details something of importance.
who was the lady that was overseeing the memory wiping in A3?
Don't think her name is disclosed.
did we have syringes leaked for r3?
Has she only come up that once?
We're talking about the person in the A3 audio logs?
yep
I dont remember if syringes were leaked but i remember there was a log about them
Don't think we've had anything clearly link her to any characters mentioned in emails so far.
Very possible she's a character we've heard of, though.
👍
If you mean through logs, logs barely existed back then.
There was a log for them
Right, but only post-release in the levels.
Don't remember booster logs being out early, but I wasn't privy to the website for R5 either.
Oh, the R5 logs have real dates now?
booster log was on santonian
Interesting...
Maybe, then.
The booster and syringe logs were EBDT logs.
Correction, not boosters, just syringes.
maybe we will get some more on those doors
we getting syringes?
Exctraction
?
Exctraction
well im dumb
Exctraction
now i feel really dumb lol
😦
where log
Yo what if this entire thing was just a prank and they release the last log saying "jk now you gotta wait until next december before r6"
lol
#dev-leaks message
looks like Schaeffer is alive??
Doesnt have to be schaeffer
👀
Don't tease us like this
👀

please do tease us like this
Imagine Schaeffer who's been always like "you do this but in secret so no one knows about me or us doing this" and presumably saying hello in morse code, now being like "LOOK, BROTHER, I'VE MARKED THIS DOOR FOR EVERYONE TO SEE"
new r6 door?
ok so new issue with the lore guys
infection must be something else, because there's disinfect packs and stations all around...
so infection is not Nam-V
maybye they found a cure to it but they couldnt get it out fast enough???
thats a possibility
skin breathes you know
uhhhhh
but I dont think it works here
also everyone wears like class c hazmat so
maybye
probably
but if it changes the host then it would change the cells
not an infection in the living sense, but an exposure rather
some toxins like neurotoxins only need skin contact to cause issues
would explain why a shower would fix things
very true
do we know of neurotoxins commonly found underground?
maybe we could identify it
i can assemble a list of possibilities
although maybe the devs haven't thought this deep about ir
aye yoooo
hmm
so let's think about what it does
you know that one level in r4 i think with all the pale bodies
partially changed sleepers
it is naturally a liquid, since it's spewed as one from the spitters and the fog is just water vapour
that makes even more sense
correct
causes immediate health problems after contact
so heres a wild guess
can be removed through skin only disinfection
but then leaves no residue on the skin 🤔
hmmm
actually i'm not sure if it doesn't
Fog isnt just water vapour
thats probably just the non infectious fog
that word usage causes issues
Fine dust can be dangerous
to pc parts
because then we get into what the particle size can be and what filters they all use
the masks would probably filter it out though, no?
it is possible
yes and no, filter size matters a lot
each player character has a different sized filter
yeah thats true
and probably a different filter
but also
the nanometer particle size
aparently these are the masks
unless there was intense drafts
drafts do not occur in mines at such depths due to the distance from the opening
ah ok true
true but how many?
if there are a lot they can push a lot of air in total but generally the air current will be slow
also the fog is sort of settled
since it stays at the lower parts constantly
yeah thats true
and then also
with C2, the generators push the fog down and away
and they would have air pumps down there as not to build up co2
since it is a heavier gas
i think fine dust is applicable in some cases but not all
you wouldn't want to go downstairs and start choking
agreed
also
that log was from when they are mining
but in this case the complex is mostly finished
so wouldn't that apply mostly to lower levels?
that log says 2050
true
I feel most of it would get filtered out in that time
or dealt with
especially with Nam-V going around
i've seen some deep mines though and fine dust can never get that thick
the ground is mostly covered with it
yeah very true
but they definitely dealt with the dust
otherwise it would've been an insane health concern for workers
or we would see a lot of hazmat equipment
which we do not
absolutely nothing
if only a dev would confirm this 😂
Dont forget they dug into the weird mass
they wanted more fog reppellers
but it would've had to rise through the complex then, and then resettle in very specific spots
it is a solid due to there being lava lookalike tubes
the dust could've been there though
Maybe it's magnetic
Feels like it
probably
You never are truly out of the fog
since the fog reppellers would have motors in them
if it was magnetic they would be useless
that's also true
and then again
it's a motor, so fine dust would fuck it up
any dust after that much time would fuck it up
not really
you can isolate them and use a shaft to drive a propeller
also the small ones work for a limited time
so dust wouldn't be an issue for them
the big ones could have a larger isolation system, explaining why they can be on for longer
and are bigger
ahh yeah, good points
also if it is dust, then it must be this cretasium
a composition scan would detect pretty much all matter if it is high tech enough to detect even the 0.0X materials
also nothing else besides the cretasium would be the infectious dust
it is the only thing with mostly unknown properties that exists
which is a fake element, so we can't know anything about it
yep
well shit
the other theory out there is iridium poisoning
not sure how I feel about that one though
that doesn't work
yeah, that's what I figured
so that either rules out dust completely, or means it's only dust
I guess we have to wait for logs
that wouldn't work
Why not
Its contamination, not irradiation
yes
Plus its most likely alpha particles
Hence why you need to be inside the fog for it to affect you
Which has a low penetrative power
true
but iridium doesn't only release alpha particles
and is the second densest metal
and where would the radiation come from?
so dust that doesn't settle from it would be tiny
From the cretasium
that just brings us back to; we can't know without more logs
also would a fog repeller move the radiation?
it is basically on the top of the moh's scale
If the cretasium is in dust particles suspended in air, then pushing the dust away would basically nullify the alpha particles
no, but it can't be radioactive
we get no mentions of radiation poisoning
that's true
The only mention we have is of a virus
yeah
It's most likely a waterborne virus, since it's transmitted through spitters, which are spraying some sort of liquid, and fog, which is usually caused by some sort of airborne moisture.
We have the wonderful opportunity to throw as many different theories at it until we get something which narrows it down
we ruled out virus; disinfect stations
it sprays you
all anti-viral stuff is ingested, at least that I'm aware of
How long was it until the next log?
like 10 hours now I think
~9 hours
so we currently have: waterborne toxin and very fine dust
^
Possibly, but could be the virus or parasites and we're just reducing the risk and severity of infection by washing off contagions.
we cannot prove the dust theory until we learn more about cretasium
It's kind of implied that disinfection isn't really a cure anyway, it's just a sanitization measure.
so let's see why it would be a toxin
Could just be poisonous.
if it gets in you, that's it
washing your skin doesn't help
very true
it will multiply internally until you most likely die
Depends on how they spin it.
The problem is getting sprayed by a spitter even if you don't ingest it by looking away. It causes coughing
and if it was a virus, we do still have immune systems
does it actually? I play the game without the dialog on so ig I don't know
The parasite especially could be something that latches onto you externally, logs mention "removing" it, so perhaps the idea is to slow their ability to make you sick.
sarin also causes such effects so it could be a neurotoxin
could be
fair point ray
some microscopic lifeforms latching onto your skin that then get washed off
good point
that begs the other question, how would that parasite still be alive? whats the host? how is it staying suspended alive in the fog?
Some sort of tiny egg or larvae that can be suspended in water that can land on a host.
hmm, so I guess we can't totally rule out parasite
but I'm fairly confident in ruling out virus, unless somehow the nature of viruses changed in the future lmao
so: neurotoxin, waterborne parasite or very fine dust
yuh
Wheres matpat when you need him
it's properties line up with a neurotoxin and a parasite
we don't know enough about cretasium so we cannot rule out it being fine dust
Well, general poison, doesn't necessarily have to be a neurotoxin.
could be
true
but something very very specific
because poison just kills after a certain dose
this doesn't
true, it does cap out
so it must be something that the human body can handle to an extent
or it cannot enter the body enough to administer a fatal dose
mercury came to mind but I'm not sure. cause it's pretty lethal
I mean, sure, but a lethal dose might be quite high, or we might be in expedition for a short enough time it doesn't matter.
mercury isn't, the fumes are, which lines up with it being some sort of toxin
true, but you can stay in the fog as much as you want and not die
But canonically? We're probably not down there more than 5 hours ever.
5 hours of exposure to most toxins will kill you
laughs in solo PE
it would have to be something very weak to not kill you after such an exposure
true, but the fog is very dense
high water content?
^
yes
Might not necessarily have a high concentration of any poison.
Im sticking with my fine dust
😂
It causes coughs,
It makes you very sick if too much is inhaled
Which accounts for that little buffer where you dont get infected until 10%
Causes sweating
I'm sticking with poison gang
As seen on the screen
true, but most things don't cause much in low concentrations
We are literally in a mine
With enough exposure, it would.
still would make sense that they would be cleared out, we are talking about probably the richest company on earth
they want things done as fast as they can
exactly ^
people getting infected with dust would slow things down and cause a big revenue drop
no one wants that
Isn't that the point of all of the climate control?
agreed
hence, why in that log, he said they'll put more fog reps down there
The virus running rampant down in the facility was causing most of the disruptions,
And for all we know its been years since the incident and it was evacuatef
Things are pretty clearly derelict, as well ^
The climate control could have failed under little maintenance
even more time for the dust to settle, also the power wasn't always on for the air pumps to work
the heat would kill us real quick given how deep we are
not really, but yeah
could*
Climate control has explicitly failed in many areas? Every gen cluster objective is about restoring it.
at such depths the head would be around 40C+
40C ez
that would explain the sweating
facts
also the fog would keep heat in
40C+ is a bit extreme
but in some areas certainly
but we are talking about something not from earth
Too many unknowns but we are forming multiple solid foundations for what it could be
or at least evolved to live deep in extreme conditions
that's very good
Could be all of them
The 2 realistic options and the 1 science fiction option
1km shouldn't actually be all that hot?
given the location too
Provided the walls arent insulated
yep
they are just rock in the lower parts
depending on the location it can be ~35C to ~60C
yet again depends on the location
its in the gulf of mexico area
C1 800m deep and yet plants growing with no problem
They gotta be super tropical no?
most definitely
it is isolated no?
the plants were being researched
does c1 have actual walls?
possibly
Yes but the plants are surviving underground on their own
are they just normal plants?
No clue
they dont look to be normal plants
hmm
fair point
There are green plants
that poses issues
they should be dead in any case
or, at least, that they could
Reading further, temperature at great depths varies a lot, and will depend on ventilation, locality, and, in our case, how hot the devs want it to be down there.
there are no lights to allow it to be done consistently
a very big issue
more supernatural explanations i suppose
they make no sense to be alive unless they are completely experimented on with different soil or something
It's probably safe to assume they were cared for before things went to shit?
certainly
Definitely
for sure
but at this point its been abadoned for years
We dont know how long its been abandoned
its implied to be quite awhile
and they didn't have any light
exactly
Its all we can do
@dull crest how do your plants grow man
we can only just think about it with no confirmation
My wife handles our plants. I grow some herbs, that's all
Lets hope tonights log propels us in a useful direction
Quick, we need to review the logs for female scientists that might be Calle's wife.
OH YEAH
god damn please
😂
we have unsolvable fog and alien plants
basically
and you have my sword
Raise my sword
doesn't make any sense
nope, but its neat
If it was magnetic it could push them away
actually it might work if it was dust and had some field properties
through floors?
Ye
honestly i think it was simplicity in design
then it would stick to fog reps even while they were off since motor magnets
It doesnt have to a strong field either
make it a sphere and call it a day
Repelling force
how can you repel magnetic particles with magnets?
they would have extremely varying polarity
😂
Nah
hypothetical but could exist
Electromagnetism
ah
A spherical design would be handy too
i see some issues with the quantum mechanics of them
specifically any north ones
a field would come out without coming in
it would decay very quickly
Why does it have to be magnetic
it works through walls
Why cant it just be a glorified leaf blower
we are checking possibilities
because it can't just blow air out that then makes a perfect sphere
I mean easy answer. Magnetic fields are solenoidal and divergence free
Todd Howard invented it. "it just works"
Understandable
i suppose
No, thats literally fact lol
ah
No divergence means no sources or sinks on their own
The problem is then that dust particles cant be repelled by magnets
Because they do the old fliparoo
true
i honestly think it was just a simpler design so they went with it
no deeper meaning
also the particles would stick and form bigger ones that cannot remain afloat
Electric fields could work under strict conditions
i don't care, i want answers
hypothetically, but how would that fit in a small fog rep
LEAK THE PLANT LORE
it would most likely need the setup the size of the locker it's in
^^^ true
It doesn't need to be very strong
the induced fields would need to be very specific
Remember this is fine dust we are considering
yes
but clearing up a 5m or so sphere would require extreme technical precision
there would at least be some disturbances along the edges but no, just a sphere
Oh no..... I've just made a grave discovery
that being?
Boosters
OH NO
Fog repeller power babyyyyy
let's just not talk about those
We must consider EVERYTHING
FUCK WHY DID YOU HAVE TO THINK OF THOSE
Every booster
THE CFOAM PORTION
the unwritten rule of the #gtfo-lore channel, "DO NOT TALK ABOUT BOOSTERS"
"it just works"
Some of the boosters make sense. Melee strength/resistance etc
hey ima bring this diamond with me. it gives me extra foam from... well..
it just does ok?
Boosters are injected into you
yeah but like
anything that affects external things is funky
Glow stick power
cocaine
also the glowstick ones
lmao
Cfoam you might get away with by saying technical skill and precision
if you are near them, you take less damage
comfort
Its a placebo that works
also trip mine damage?
bruh
Did you see that comment about a weaker mine that explodes multiple times?
who hasnt lmao
How make mine explode and stay existing
i mean, they can add that
Cluster mine
wouldnt you like to know
Whats the lore on invisible walls
absolute chaos
Windows
god exists and he doesn't like you
let's stop talking about boosters
new rule of the channel, don't talk about them
We shouldve been on it on day 1
people have been on god for over two thousand years and guess what we have
constant low-frequency emissions coming from the walls
An antigravity forcefield
Localised entirely in a 2 dimensional plane of existence
spawn caps
Sleepers are still sleeping
alright so, two new rules: don't talk about wall logic and don't talk about boosters
shit u right
Ravenna can you pin this
BOOSTER THAT INCREASES INVISIBLE WALL POWER
sound can go through stuff but not through that many
Im cold
booster that decreases sound made by smashing sleepers so that other ones awake from further away
i have a headache
🤨
smashing sleepers eh?
i dont wanna see that
get a room
Sussy
fr
can we have a canonical sleeper sex scene
i think that would be a no
Dont underestimate r34 users
im surprised it hasnt been done yet
yes
Noone knows this game still exists
cause its been R005 for 8 months
still early access tho
fax
we are over here just overthinking absolutely everything of the game while devs are like "yeah let's just do that and drive the community insane"
😂
we're giving them too many ideas
quick, delete it all
practically writing it ourselves
Genuinely feels like the new lore will be dropping any minute now but no its only dark bc winter
ravenna probably will too when she pins the message
how many hours are left?
~8
so 2am for me
Ill ping you when it drops
ty
1 more lecture before freedom
Lucky you
Normally id be sleeping until 7pm my time anyway
But i havent slept in almost 24hr now
bruh
And I'm still feeling coherent
get sum sleep
i get that
Even then I'll probably stay awake bc im a dumbass who thinks about this damn game too much
fr, i had a dream about it 2 nights in a row
in one i choke-held a shooter then threw it down a flight of stairs
felt good
lots of interal rage against those cunts
I want to go to sleep as soon as i get home, but I need a squad for like an hour after im home

Growing Concern over NAM-V
by Duncan Keith
Saturday night at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. Usually, the emergency room sees a stead
y influx of patients. It’s busy; but no more than they can handle. the Infirmary is well s
taffed and stocked and has a reputation for dealing with patients quickly and efficiently.
But not tonight. Tonight over 250 people crowd the waiting rooms. As one patient is seen,
treated, and released, 2 more take their place at the end of the line. There are no beds l
eft, not enough personal protective equipment for the medical staff, and a barely containe
d sense of panic among the cast-down faces of those waiting in hope that they don’t have “
the Stoops”. This is a hospital clinging on, desperately trying to weather the storm. The
storm of the NAM-V virus.
Since the WHO officially labeled the NAM-V virus as a pandemic, the number of reported cas
es has spiked. In part that is due to a more concerted testing effort, but it is also a si
gn of just how quickly this virus is spreading. Unlike previous pandemics (Hook, COVID19 –
21, Respo-Z2), this one debilitates its victims. There is no stay-at-home solution. If yo
u have NAM-V, you need medical support. The long-term effects of the virus are still unkno
wn, but once you start to feel the tightening in your bones and the persistent hallucinati
ons you will need medical supervision, or the end will be swift. Medical intervention is t
he only thing that can slow the decline. Even if the patient does manage to survive the in
itial onslaught of the virus, it will remain in their system and can strike again without
warning. Once you are isolated with NAM-V, you stay isolated.

Oh, cool, so the world is ending in-game?
it will remain in their system and can strike again without warning
I take it that this is what Dauda meant.
what were the themes of R4 and 5? i wasnt paying attention
this rundown was something with fog right
Not sure what you mean.
Our goals in R4 and R5 are about setting up for KDS Deep, and the final mission in R5 is navigating to it and activating it.
Could it be that the end goal of the expeditions is to find a remedy to NAM-V ?
I would say they probably found one, but it's somewhere deep in the complex
Could be a lot of things. Based on what we know right now, it's probably either curing NAM-V or, more likely, since BIOCOM is designed to oversee combat operations, its goal is to defeat the sleepers or something related to the sleepers.
I doubt it would be anything directly related to the pandemic, or the outside world at all.
Finding a cure or way to prevent the spread would just be a likely step on the way to whatever it wants to do.
Eradicate sleepers, retake the complex, etc.
In the end there is something of much higher value than saving the world from a pandemic (including all the money you'd get from making a remedy) or simply retaking the complex
Not sure what you mean by this?
As you suggested, "Finding a cure or way to prevent the spread would just be a likely step on the way to whatever it wants to do."
That'd mean there is something of greater interest that can be gained by retaking control of the complex
Rather than simply ending NAM-V pandemic
Naw, I think that's a bit unlikely for now, or at least it's not necessarily anything spectacular it's after.
kinda mysterious tho
i just can't think of anything aside from the remedy (unlikely ?)/biological weapon/something that's not understandable with the current human knowledges scenario
We still don't know what is the thing that escaped the complex either
I'm looking at this more from the lens that BIOCOM is a combat computer, and it's probably trying to do something that a combat computer would want to do. Ending the pandemic, curing NAM-V, etc. are probably not things it would be designed to be tasked with. Instead, it probably has some ordinary goal that it's going to great lengths to accomplish (eradicate sleepers in the complex, take control of major areas of the complex, destroy or contain something that the sleepers, virus, and parasites originated from, or something else that BIOCOM would be expected to be tasked with).
It's trying to "win" in some war that it believes it's fighting.
So a single task without any purpose behind as it is a computer
or various tasks but there is no ideology behind all this
aside from winning
Yep, that's how I expect it's functioning.
Is BIOCOM supposed to be the operating system of the complex ?
Didn't read too much logs about it
BIOCOM is Kovac's digital intelligence used to oversee their combat operations/"missions." Specifically, it oversees KSOs (the Legion), and uses them to complete missions.
Critics of BIOCOM highlight concerns over the use of its “equivalency algorithm’, the mathematical principle used by BIOCOM to gage mission success by projected casualties. There is also growing concern over the practice of Martial Trafficking, as many of the operatives used by BIOCOM (designated as Kovac Security Operatives) come from unknown origins, have no legal rights or status, and have been trained using methods that break the Zurich Concord of 2042.
We also know that it operates somewhat autonomously from the rest of Kovac, and is showing signs of "going rogue" in order to accomplish something in the log with the latest date we have access to. It apparently is supposed to operate from KDS Deep, but it's unclear if it's still housed there when we're being sent into the complex, presumably by it, in-game.
The "going rogue" log in question shows that it's trying to do something akin to what we end up doing in-game (rerouting a ton of resources into KDS Deep).
