Yeah a bit off
it made my suspicion increase
Next time i play ill try to find the " linterna " to look closely
linterna? O-o
Indeed, a party member pointed em out to me
Possibly related to that brief tentacle in the GTFO trailer?
well true, but what if it's just an appendage.
kinda like the scoots feelers, but infinitely worse
from what I know, the devs don't want to make bosses
so I don't think it would just be an appendage unless they have changed their minds/not told the full truth
I'm not like, directly implying a boss
I'm saying what if it's an appendage of some big ol' thing that may or may not be further down that hole?
that we may see/read about, but not directly interact with
hm
I don't think they would do that
because it almost foreshadows a boss fight of some sort
well, you could end up covering it up that its an appendage of something that allows the warden to keep track of everything. Doesnt mean it needs to be a boss. Besides, if there would be any boss fight at all, it would be the warden itself.
me, hacks the warden from a t erminal
Or it ends up just being a harmless creature that just has creepy appendages, that ends up being killed
A baby that once killed, invokes the wrath of its parent.
So the place where the prisoners got dropped into is actually a secret government experimentation process gone wrong. I think it's part of the reason why they have masks? there's something in the "air" that affected everyone in the facility. I mean the wiki did say that it's something that needs a human host. So the different kinds of the enemies are different mutations of people who used to work in the facility. that's why i would assume different zones and personnel id's. government effed up and they need something in there, to remove traces, to clear out the area that's why they are refusing to just bomb the place. there has to be something that they need that's why they are keeping it as it is. So I guess instead of using military people, prisoners would be a better choice because you know, if they were put in a death sentence, everyone would assume the prisoners were just dead not being used as lab rats to complete a mission. but i am sure this isn't the first time someone thought about this. and i am too lazy to scroll up. hahahaha. so sharing my thoughts.
i really hope it isnt yet another evil government project backfiring. Also i doubt any lore on wiki is anything other than theories, just like here due to the fact theres no lore available yet with a few exceptions like character descriptions by Simon and direct observation (as example all strikers are male and all shooters/scouts are female)
I was REALLY hoping this channel would just be the actual lore and not a public open chat to theorize... What ever though lol
@limber jetty If you want just specific 'lore' and such, I would recommend checking the Wiki.
i mean, the third pinned message.
"D0cR3d03.06.2019
Hello everyone and welcome to the GTFO Lore channel. This is a SERIOUS channel to discuss about the lore of the game. Serious speculation on what you think is going on, or when the game is released what is actually going on. Please do not use this to troll, meme, shit post or similar. Thanks."
No yeah I figured that would be the case. I need to go look onto it all later. I am a HUGE sucker for story @alpine lantern . Thank you though.
Same, same. :)
if that makes you happy, simon says the lore is extensive
A lot of the stuff on the Wiki was helped sourced by, or even originally written in this channel though @limber jetty . So feel free to stick around! <3
simon is extensive lore, tbf
Psfhht.... what do you wanna hear? xD
Cause I'd have to check all my pinned messages, across like... Five channels. ._.;;
@last saffron has written a ton of stuff with me as well. So could also ask them. <3
Here's one of my bigger posts;
https://discordapp.com/channels/408196129470152705/585062984619917342/638856493411598365
I love to write stories... Just saying if yall ever want help or someone to look at it just hmu... I dont even need credit lol
Im just here to shoot monsters. Get ID cards. And look at the story
@bold anvil Check out the post I linked above. ^^
Though I now feel like I'm shamelessly advertising my own ideas/writing. xD
Nothin wrong with that
It's great ideas friend. we here to discuss afterall uwu
scrolling up to see all past ideas tho.. kinda tiring
tfw i kind of forgot about my little writing prompt about how transformation in hosts occur
bitey is disappointed in me
i still honestly believe that it's government wise
im wishing its not ; v;
Yeah, I will admit we probably should have done a slightly better job organizing or 'pinning' some of the big posts. @bold anvil
coz u know government is shady
The only reason I linked mine is because I know how to search for my own posts, cause I remember the exact wording I used in all of them. <3
Thank u for linking tho hehehe
ehh..its just so overused at this point id rather it have something to do with the location rather than gov. for the 5 gorillionth time
since the place is supposedly in the crater of a meteor credited with wiping out our giant lizards, dinosaurs
it's too high tech tho. and yeah government project gone wrong is overused
the thing is whoever is in charge / warden has access to prisoners
Well, Slaaneshi, you already know me and Rav's opinion on what the 'infection' is. |3
but what i do wanna theorize about is are these actual actual prisoners
or are they kidnapped humans, being called as prisoners?
the main 4 characters?
^--Has been a very popular debate topic over the entire course of the lore channel. xD
coz if they are kidnapped / captives then i would say could be a big corporation
the area in itself has terminals
alarm doors
I need to hop to some other channels, Slaaneshi you mind explaining to the new lore peeps some of the fun info bits about Bishop and things we've learned about SAM corp? :D
"alarm doors"= for what tho? to keep people in? to keep people out?
terminals arent really an unusual thing, same for restricted areas
could this be just a simulation that a sick bastard made
for his own enjoyment?
if it's not something government connected then my other theory is that it's a big corporation. experimenting on people and such. there has to be something way way down. further down
the confirmed part (from documentary) is that the place is abandoned, we play the same set of 4 prisoners (each has descriptions etc) and warden keeps them against their will, however letting us keep whatever it deems not needed for itself
its supposedly a mining operation, Santonian Mining Industries was it
you can find the logo and name occasionally
theres also a site for them, not sure if i can dig it up
like, actual website
nothing on it yet though
i mean, we went from mining picks to titanic (literally gigantic) drills, so why wouldnt high tech be used in mining
we dont really have a time period for the setting yet, could be something like, iunno, 3000
Alpha map was essentially one giant warehouse, A1 in beta feels more like an actual mining op, heavy duty vehicles present even
Here's a fun text link = https://discordapp.com/channels/408196129470152705/585062984619917342/633503591977582593
ceeev can you find the santonian website link
Also @bold anvil Look at the "Author" of the site. :)
Homepage of SANTONIAN Industries, strategic investors group.
maybe hidden secrets that we haven't seen yet
still empty
||Bishop is the guy who supposedly made the website, and he is a playable character||
nop
I tried to email them.
strategic investors group
oh, im dum
the mining operation probably
the complex itself has santonian as mining industries (some crates too) alongside other filler tier brands
they could very well have fabrication there, since theres a refinery. pretty cost effective too
i'm want to know what are those things that try to kill us
Sleepers.
the most simple answer is, mutated humans, most likely workers, judging by discarded uniforms
what exactly made them turn is unknown, but will most likely be explained in logs and whatnot.
PARASITES.
<---Had to throw that in there, will never abandon the Parasite theory.
ive been recently exploring the possibility of it being multiple things at once
a parasite facilitating an infection which in turn made them a perfect breeding ground for bacteria, think of it like a symbiotic relationship.
Bacteria are not always harmful, quite a lot of them are actually beneficial, such as the ones living inside our intestines. Unlike viruses, the harmful ones do not hijack your cells in order to reproduce, their harm mostly comes from toxins they release.
Why would a parasite make its host a breeding ground for bacteria is an obvious question this theory presents.
Parasitic worms are able to directly affect their hosts immune response, "softening" it in order to well, not get obliterated by our internal defense mechanism. If the Hosts in gtfo are a result of a parasite infection, it could very well weaponize their ability to suppress immune response. And here comes the breeding ground part. Perhaps the parasite cant fully overtake a human body on its own, unable to fully suppress our immune system. So, in order to finish the job it relies on other organisms, viruses and bacteria, to finish it off and have that sweet human body all for itself.
Still doesnt explain how the everliving fuck it causes a human body to undergo such a drastic change, but that can be explained in two ways:
- its a video game, nerd
- It uses its Hosts organs and potentially central nervous system (or vast majority of it) as fuel while the parasite itself take on their functions, essentially wearing its host like a living meat suit.
and that concludes another episode of slaaneshi likes making walls of text about biology
But the majority of the creature (sleepers) are not moving or reproducing. What is the purpose of taking over the host's bodies?
considering the complex has been abandoned for quite a while according to documentary, theyre all in a form of natural stasis. basically conserving energy until something edible comes close.
since we have no clue where it came from for now, cant really say why they need to control and mutate the host as opposed to normal parasites who just use you to feed for the rest of the their lifespan. maybe its their reproduction tactic. Would make sense for a virus, since viruses cannot reproduce without another living being, unlike all other parasitics
There must be something in the facility has a constant life/energy source that keeps both the host and the guest alive as keeping themselves alive requires energy.
Guys if I Use foam launcher
in the wild certain animals and plants can live for a very, very long time in harsh conditions, one example being some frogs with literally freeze themselves when winter sets in, or that one plant i forgot the name of, which can be revived by being splashed with water.
it says Door reinforcment
we dont exactly know how long the complex has been abandoned for
foam is used to seal and reinforce doors
there are a lotta ads in the page good luck im with opera
also the look of the bodies can indicate about the mutation thing its from not so long ago , there are bodies of scientifics almost new or unused
but its a cold place for the dna and the cryo bodies
heres a therory GTFO may actually be GTF0 as in Generation Target F zero
the whole complex is a massive test bed gene modification that has gone terribly wrong
there are several genes with similar shortforms like GTFI2
so perhaps were seeing what happens when a gene therapy virus was released and had unexpected sideeffects
well gen 0 there arent any human bodies (i dont remember well but thats what i remember) , ( i played the beta or alpha i cant remember everything)
what?
F0 is a term used to indicate a specific set of offspring/or population following genetic modification in an experiment
Very interesting, BG.
Anyone else think there's gonna be some H.P Lovecraft, other worldly horror origins for all the nonsense going on? 😂 Cause that's the vibe I'm getting.
the shadow enemy
I haven't gone through what has already been talked about in this lore chat. However, i think i have a possible explanation for why we are prisoners and why it talks about cortex interfacing. Maybe a higher power (aliens, government, laboratory, corporation) is allowing its employees/ workers to interface with prisoners and use their bodies to traverse the facility collecting or looking for something. This seems to be to retrieve PID's in the first rundown which im not sure the reason for. Not looking to start arguments so if there is any blatant information ive missed that rules this out please let me know. This would explain why we are cortex interfacing at the beginning and also why we are prisoners.
If you read the mission statement before starting the lobby it tells you they're getting the pid's to activate the reactor on B1
Doesnt it look like a fungus parasite? with the spores flying around aswell in the missions its make sense for the gas masks
Could be, they could also be wearing those masks for protection against environmental hazards too though.
Don't forget about CTRL INDUSTRIES.
The people who do the generators in the complex and your hacking tool.
Or is it CNTRL? Hang on.
I think its CNTRL Industries. Look at your hacking tool. Its a different company.
I've found what appears to be a lot of company names and logos around the complex, although I haven't checked the hacking tool yet.
Way too small lol
Well, I can't make it any bigger.
No idea, maybe I could ask some of the data miners if they can find the model
Wait, where is the data mine chat?
We aren't supposed to talk about data mining anymore.
Is in #rules
Okay, going to bed. Goodnight!
Okay, got it. Now I'm going to bed. Goodnight. 😆
i agree on the parasite theory, weve seen something similiar in resident evil 4++ series
Las Plagas is sort of an abstract entity within the world of Resident Evil 4. While we do know what this parasite is, the versatility that it seems to have i...
this pretty much explains the RE one
dont know about the Last of Us
The parasites on last of us were based on the fungus that attacks insects
Las Plagas began in mine aswell
Cordyceps
Deep in the Amazon jungle, a parasitic fungus called cordyceps infect ants and other insects in order to reproduce. ➡ Subscribe: http://bit.ly/NatGeoSubscrib...
Yeah dude nature is crazy
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
Similar fungal species but attacks flies
so that leads us to a conclusion
Fungi dont transform their hosts. they devour the tissues and replace it with themselves
Santonian miners could come acros some cordi-seps-parasite that instead of killing the human hosts mutaded them into those monsters?
nothing about hosts suggest its a fungus, even on the inside where it would be most abundant
there actually is a suggestion
on the ranged guys, who shoot spores at us
and players have to wear gasmasks not to inhale this shit
It's a fictional sci-fi game set in the future, i wouldn't discredit any theories
i doubt its spores, considering they can somehow home on you while glowing brighter than a lightbulb
well, its definilty something we dont know and may not ever exist on our world or any other planet ;p
Thing is, for us to name something a fungus it would have to share similarities with our fungi. if its completely different in all aspects, we wouldnt call it a fungus
some things are so fukd up they are simply impossible to be real but they happen, for example upside down rainbow 😄
Ah the whole fungus thing was just me explaining the creatures in last of us
in alien covenant we had an interestin patogen introduced
got into someones head through his ear by the air from the plant he stepped on
it was a black goo changed organism, covenant was really weird
That stuff was manufactured
no no no, there was a point where an expedition went on recon mission and someone stepped on some plant
Oh yeah
releasing spores
the plant was a result of black goo, as i said
uhhh, i think its opposite
it releases microorganisms which cause a bloodburster to grow in its target
The Neomorphs were the result of the local ecosystem on the planet to which David traveled after leaving LV-223 becoming altered by the black liquid. Specifically, the liquid caused small, black, spherical, fungus-like egg sacks to form on the ground. When disturbed, these egg sacks would release a cloud of microscopic insect-like spores (motes) into the air that would then enter a host organism through any open orifice — such as the nostrils or ear canal. Once a host is infected with the airborne contagion, the spores would enter the bloodstream and proceed to cause a Bloodburster to grow inside of them until they violently puncture the skin and claw their way out of the host's body.
local goo ruins everything, thanks engineers
the black goo was liquified version of those "things" the creators used as a weapon breeding basic spore form and bottling it
the shit got out on their ship so they failed their mission and crashed on some planet
there is a youtuber who does that kind of theory shit proffesionaly, ill try to find him in a second
it isnt aliens themselves in liquid form, rather a mutagenic pathogen, since getting infected by it doesnt directly transform into a xeno. its more like a medium
SURPRISE BECAUSE SCIENCE CHANNEL! Subscribe now and click the shiny notifications bell so you don’t miss out on all things science and pop culture. http://bi...
Reminds me of that show Another Life where some pathogen makes a girls nervous system explode out of her back and crawl away xD
tfw your nerve endings just leave you
Lmao
this guy may be a bit annoying sometimes/ but he talks clever shit, just watch it
I like nerdist hes good
its weird, especially since that video is same day covenant released and covenant gives a literal explanation
he isnt too far off
do the devs post any confirmed/official lore in here or is this soley a place for fans to speculate
There is some official information on the wiki/the pinned messages in this channel @frozen cairn
We do however speculate here :)
This was the true cause of the cordyceps in TLOU
I think the only really think we can confirm with our creepy friends is that is some kinda parasite cuz there's weird bulbous growths inside em you can see. The world will never know
And also that.
These just confirm for me that dodging the attack is nigh impossible lol
Like it legit bent nearly 90 degrees three times in the first image like what
finally managed to see that the tip is basically this minus "fingers" and webbing
I'm scaroused
We’ve all seen enough hentai to know where this is going
Banned
(I know this pretty obvious but just let me point out) The horror element of the game is Horror because you are just a prisoner for a crazy person/ai called "the warden" and are not equipped for this situation for possibly "The Wardens" sickened "entertainment" and as the GTFO team stated there wont be like grenades or suppressors as so, so that it can stay the style of horror.
so uhh
anybody interested in what I said (also the wardens theory for entertainment for being sent here is null now as that will probably be debunked in 5 seconds if you look into the lore of what we have right now)
i mean, entertainment is one thing. its objectives would be more..random-ish for the lack of better word, as opposed to concrete ones it sets
warden goes after extremely specific stuff in that situation, data stuff, HSU's etc
I see where u are coming from
it does not care about anything it finds unusable by it, letting the prisoners keep it as documentary explains
Greetings. Im coming After War but Can we hope to have further explanation of the lire?
there are going to be logs with explanation on things, Simon said the lore is extensive so we just have to wait
basically the same thing said ^ but with ACTUAL detail
Cuz i think more dialogues between characters would bé great
I think the prisoners would chat to each other once in a while (except for blitz) possibly after missions (if they fucking make it out alive)
As an explanation of what they really know
I believe thé narrative layer is really important in such obscure ambiants
@worn plank could you elaborate?
The ambiance is also created with the feelings the characters can have, sharing them through dialogues. And what they know of the situations, not only the visual aspects
Cuz we are dropped in a situation without knowing much
(sorry im struggling with autocorrection. Im french)
Anyway im talking about the immersion in the ambiance the game is trying to set
its alright buddy
@worn plank there is a #lfg-eastern-europe channel if you want a group of people to play with in your region
I know ;)
kool
yeah the ambience is important as you are in a place with flesh (and other horrifying amalgamations of infestation) and dark and bright lights so I think the devs will need to carefully plan out the ambience
Thought about the l4d characters reacting to many things
yea
Thats adding a light roleplaying layer that i like
regular scripted conversations,being damaged/attacked by hunters/chargers, etc.
thats a good thing for a idea tho
That was great and a more complex version of this would bé amazing
Or the dialogues we could have when pinging environments or creatures in Evolve
(which is a game i appreciated a lot even if i know many didnt)
Thats actually not far fetched as Evolve and GTFO are similar in technology.
although the pinging creatures/environments might not be really suitable for GTFO's style (aka being a fucking prisoner forced into a complex with repurposed mining tools to kill things)
Sure
I just feel that more characters interaction with each other could give a better diving in the story
I think thats going to be a thing the devs will touch on later in development so you are on the right track.
we only had alpha and beta, plus the characters do talk, trailers and the shadow showcase.
Were just talking about it :)
Btw the characters are controlled remotely but by who? Always personeel from the association?
the characters arent being mind controlled. If they were, there would be no personality for each.
its more in line with observation than puppeteering
they'd probably put devices on them to track em
Complete with explosive implants, I'm sure.
considering their only means of return is by the same way they came in, i doubt explosive collars are necessary
Maybe to make sure they dont also become hosts?
from what i could tell they've put chips on them to track their progress, people who spend too long down there will be infected, but the infection doesn't seem to spread unless they go back down again, it only seems to spread when they're down there and if the infection gets too high and they can't go back down for another mission they're "retired"
and explosives collars most definitely aren't a thing, the sleepers used to be people who had their infection rate reach the threshold
why would the infection only progress down there? just out of curiosity. its possible to slow the onset down, but completely preventing it would be..odd to say the least
well for 1, the air down there is stagnant and they have to wear gas masks to even be able to filter oxygen at all
for most part, all the hosts so far seem to be Santonian personnel, mainly since you can find discarded uniform, even piled up actually. its noteworthy that they never seem to shred their uniforms
i mean why would infection suddenly stop progressing once theyre back up
but from what i can tell the gas masks aren't perfect and they're definitely not filtering the air 100%
well they enter "cryostasis" it's not exactly cryostasis it's like.. water stasis? i think
it would probably just slow it down as opposed to completely halting it. HSUs havent really been explained but its more probable that they work same way some animals enter a natural form of stasis, slowing their own metabolism down to extreme
one of my friends read alot up on the game and it's lore and explained alot to me but isn't 100%% on everything but all i know is the infection stops spreading because they enter "cryostasis" and don't get any oxygen until they're taken out of the stasis they're fed nutrients through tubes and it explains why the characters gasp for air once you start the mission
well, you can safely say that your friend made it all up.
no such info was present in any form in neither alpha nor beta
there will be explanation down the line though, in form of Logs as Simon said
well yes not ingame lore has been determined yet but some of the stuff hes said does add up
the not getting any oxygen part is just, death in purest form, nutrients is one thing, but we still need to breathe
you can reduce the need for it, but completely eliminating it is not feasible
some conditions are more favorable for pathogens so it being much slower outside those is perfectly possible
it could explain why they hate light to the point even flashlights agitate
no it is possible to live without breathing, you can still get oxygen through scientific methods through tubes/syringes, and nutrients of course easily fed through a tube.
thats still getting oxygen, as opposed to "don't get any oxygen"
thats what i meant
yeah my bad on that one, i phrased that poorly
happens ' v'
but yeah from what i could tell they're in aquastasis and are being fed oxygen/nutrients through tubes until they're ready for another mission and head back down to gather whatever the warden asks for
thats my best guess
the main problem (after watching the documentary) is that it implies the main 4 arent in their HSUs all the time
mainly since, quoting directly "Warden lets them keep anything it deems unusable by it"
but im 100% on them being tracked, they most likely have a chip or something else implanted in their brain
but something needs to stop the infection rate, they clearly were human at once
you could see them bashing there own head in the lobby. Like they are going crazy, or something is in there head :D
i have extremely high doubts that they're just free to roam around until their next mission to go down
@hard echo thats most likely from the infection
never seen them bash their heads, even
100% certain the people being sent down are already infected
and ive sat right in front of them for a long time
they do twitch in a way which makes them seem like they hit themselves
oh no i've seen them hit their heads in the lobby numerous times
y
That's what i meant :D
I mean, what i don't get, and they may have an explaination for it: They are like really fast triggered by any movement or light. But Doors or moving light doesn't trigger them.
I think that's just purely to play into the mechanics of the game
not being alert by doors is probably a gameplay thing
it'd be a little OP if they woke up to doors
i know
so it doesnt fuck you up if one sat somewhere you cant see only for it to wake up and end you
But there COULD be an explanation :D
I agree though, it's a bit immersion breaking
but yeah flashlights messing with them when they're already standing in light is a bit weird
but i don't mind
the other thing that urks me ever so slightly is that when they scream after being melee'd to death, that doesn't wake them either
since it's just as loud as their alerted scream
true
What about they already infected, and so the monsters only react to them because of Hivemind?
a hivemind would probably instantly let every single one there is know
the scream is just loud enough to wake those in the room up
no they can
Jeez imagine to sneeze :'D
vocalizations have quite a range, they could simply not realize something happened and its just an odd ball being odd
coughing or sneezing
sneezing is highly unlikely since they're breathing through a mask so no debris from the air would really go into their nose
coughing just as much
some people sneeze when they look in a bright enough light :D
odd, but i have an odd condition that makes me sneeze as well so not too unheard of
Can confirm, bright light on my face and I sneeze almost immediately after xD
Yeah, my brother have this too
Oh lord he thicc
Oh gosh, that's like a walking starfish
Lookin' like porygon
Introducing, the Sleeper Cube, brought to you the people who made Seekers and Big Bois, you now have a huge cube.
What have we determined to be the means by which an infected is alerted? Maybe its not sound at all but some other sense that functionally acts like sound, but may be based off something entirely different. Light obviously alerts them without eyes or anyway to sense it. Maybe they are detecting your heart beat and while moving your heart rate increases to whatever threshold they can detect. Pure speculation on my part.
feels like a very, very basic form of echolocation. unlike bats they simply dont consider you a living thing if you dont move.
maybe something similar to sharks in how they can pick out movment by maget bulshitery?
dont know about magnets, but sharks have a specialized organ which lets them sense vibrations and pulses
yeah that
they also can sense electric pulses in muscles when very, very close
Especailly that since they trigger when movment is close
the sleeper senses in general feel pretty dull since you have to be pretty close to them for them to even begin stirring, at certain distance theyre completely oblivious to you existing
Well, they are "sleepers"
Maybe it's like REM cycles or something
Deep sleep is when they are still, and not deep sleep is when their hearts beat?
Sleepers could just be a nickname. Better than calling them "the dormant"
the community is supposed to make up names for them
the devs don’t really want to name them
The characters say sleepers so i think thats a official one, im in favour of the big ones being named big bois thou
Docile is maybe a preferable term?
Oh, well yeah, good point @frozen cairn
Also, might as well call them big bois/boys. Their names are literally "Big Striker" and "Big Shooter" etc.
At least thus far.
I always call every big enemy "big beefy" lol.
Playing L4D2: "That big beefy is around the corner"
Playing Dying Light: "There's a big beefy throwing rocks somewhere"
Taco Bell is proud of you. 😛
lmao
It gets to the point that even irl when I see those big muscle men on bodybuilding shows, I call them "big beefy"
I think I'm going to borrow that from you from now on.
My teams call the big beefy bois, Goliath.
Also wooo necro posting!
keep in mind: the "virus/infection" have different types of infection possible by a humans traits, disorders, and overall rarity
When we start the game... it says infection level low on the prisoners... so it's an infections?
I think its a fungal parasite
judging by the fact we wear the masks i'd say its possibly fungal and or airborne bacteria. I've noticed at times in rooms with lots of the guys there seems to be particles/dust in the air.
that and the shreikers/scouts seem REALLY fungal.
Fungi wouldnt make you mutate, theyd just devour you from the inside and replace the tissues with themselves.
practically like Last of Us has it
the infection rate is different on every start up, so for now its probably flavor text when applied to main characters
i had a couple saying "unknown"
but all share the fact that we are 'up for retirement' and that is being directly over ridden
the main characters are most likely infected, or at very least scarred by the experience. Bishop could very well be one of the complex personnel, or at least part of Santonian since the source code of their site has him in it
aye noticed that. Got a feeling that he's there looking for something specific. Using us to do it. Hence our constant redeployment.
10cc want to focus on telling the story of the main 4 so itll be expanded upon. As for particles in the air, theyre actually omnipresent, certain lights make them easier to see but theyre everywhere in same concentration
that said, it very well could be an airborne pathogen, its just the particles we see are dust and debris. since the complex has been abandoned for a while, its main system are probably either shut down or malfunctioning, since in A1 from beta you could see the ventilation fans working.
What exactly is C foam?
C-Foam is a material that enemies can get stuck in, freezes them for a bit, or can be used to freeze doors as a reinforcement to cause them to take longer to get destroyed by enemies
But like
Its what if BUbble guns were sticky
What's its chemical composition, and at what point does it become hard
oh, that I don't know.
Alright internet person
could verywell be made up
lOrE
ax
well maybe its a Variation of the touchable bubbles
as they kinda stick to u
with certain mixtures allowing it to make massive ones and are filled with some foamy shit
probably a variation of foam used for insulation. we already use a spray which rapidly expands to fill up space, this one however is probably modified to be either more resin like or gel, rapidly expanding when exposed to air.
I like the idea of them being able to sense things via the same mechanism sharks do. If there is any proof that would be even better.
Has anyone confirmed if GTFO stands for anything specific other than get the f out yet?
or have we come up with any more clever meanings for the initialism?
?t gtfo
The game is called GTFO and it doesn't stand for "Get The Fuck Out" but rather the feeling you have that you want to complete The Warden's objective and GTFO.
^ that’s the official answer
@wheat trail
C-foam, an abbreviation for cement foam, is a substance primarily used in patchwork construction projects. Used commonly in major cities, it is repurposed for blockade stratagem during Warden-sanctioned assignments.
I’d imagine it’s been used once or twice to fill holes made by prisoners attempting escape.
The fact that there are lockers around the areas suggest that there were people that worked here, but I'm not sure what to expect since there are other lockers in other zones. So maybe the people that owned these lockers were assigned to work in those zones; but what kind of work would they do there? We don't really see any labs that could make this laboratory nor do we see any science.. things. We don't see any rooms where they'd test military utilities. But yeah, sure. We haven't seen that much yet. But I'm just judging from what I've seen so far. (I haven't seen much because the only time I've played, I was lagging. But I was able to see the environment.)
Sorry, I've watched Sci-Fi movies and I'm not sure what an actual laboratory looks like lolololol
(dont take my theory seriously i was lagging ingame, so i didnt see much but i wanted to do this lore thing cause it was interestonk k thx bye)
It felt like we were seeing zones under construction or storage areas
Maybe the top levels were all storage. While the bottom levels are where they housed the more important stuff
Warehouse workers wouldn’t need as high of a level of security clearance as well.
I wonder if the creatures were dormant underground until we opened up the cavern they were in... And at the time the people down there were maybe just drilling for some material and or ran into/searching for them? Kind of like the movie the silence but the creatures here are much stranger and aren't just normal creatures that just got trapped for millions of years...(Pls insert creature background I'm not sure what to put xD)
Honestly I want to say they are mutated humans. Kind of like necromorphs.
They look too human for me to assume there is no relation.
on some boxes there were some texts suggesting the poeple working there were probably just mining minerals and stuff.
and the weird, almost fungal like pods inside and outside them (spitters) suggest tehre's some parasitism going on.
Maybe....
Maybe the asteroid that came down had some resource in it.
And the warden was mining it. But it release whatever this parasite or whoever it is that caused these creatures.
maybe
Mayhaps
lol
I have a hunch that it’s the wardens fault somehow.
They will
aight
Trough the game.
it doesnt seem to be a fungal infection imo, more like a parasitic one. If it is a fungus that is causing those "things" to exist you would be able to see some sort offungal growth in the compex
ya idk about a fungal but parasite more likely if it is human
but why the growths?
and the giants
dont understand that part..
The growths to me seem to be sensory organs. But maybe they have a second part?
Like, they have to feed somehow.
hm
There ain’t enough normal people.
So what if they feed like fungus?
It would make sense that the growths double as sensory organs and mouths. Sucking in food from the air or something.
Obviously the place isn’t full of just air. Because the prisoners wear gas masks.
what about the ones that dont
the ones with there faces split in half with the teeth all sideways
face split
any thoughts on the heart beats?
and the light
cause idk what to say about that xD
I do know that there is no way the warden is innocent with it.
ya he probably screwed up
Light I would say is part of the mutation.
Heart beats....
Well.
You know how bees work right?
If you kill one it releases pheromones that attract other bees.
Same idea. Except with light and heart beats. To alert other monsters.
i think its a bit different because you have to wake one in order for it to wake the others
cause it yells then everyone freaks tf out
Maybe it’s a predatory trait?
Like how animals will cock their ears in certain ways to show aggression.
aight then :3
they have at very least 3 possible nutrition sources:
A) what food the complex could have in storage
B) people inside the HSUs
C) Cannibalism.
Considering the complex has been abandoned for many years according to documentary, any stored food has either expired or has been consumed. Cannibalism seems unlikely given their numbers and people inside HSU generally would go unnoticed, unless something malfunctions leading to their discovery.
Additionally they seem to care little for carrion, evident but what few corpses and body parts you can find laying around
Another potential, albeit unlikely, guess is them gradually consuming survivors over the years.
eh, they dont seem that intelligent
Like I said, the fungus stuff makes sense.
they are left in the dark and just sit there.
the air isnt just normal air. Maybe there is methane or something in it? The prisoners need gas masks to breath down there after all.
So maybe they just suck that stuff out of the air to eat.
and with them be inactive the calories they would need to survive is minimal.
ya that could work
fungi would simply eat them from the inside and replace tissues with themselves.
they have no fungal growth even on the inside, plus the corpses would be overgrown due to the fact fungi wouldnt care if the host die, itd simply use the corpse for nutrients and grow to spread spore
Air sadly cannot provide nutrients on its own, it just provides the vital part life needs (oxygen), while the rest is aquired from other means. Fungi are special because they exclusively feed on living/dead things, as opposed to plants
I mean fungus as how it works.
not that it is fungus
sorry about that.
IMO its a alien parasite that operates like fungus as far as feeding goes.
and it does the necromorph thing where it reanimates the dead.
IMO?
blep
hm k
yeah
the other “proof” that it’s a Parisite is that when you get downed, you don’t have a timer
maybe the "tongues" of the creaturs are the parasites themselves how about that.
Reminds me of the strain
@last saffron let's not forget that air is roughly 21% Oxygen, but also contains nitrogen, CO² and is capable of carrying airborne particles such as water vapor and microorganisms
one of the things I'm kind of curious about these creatures and I don't know if somebody hasn't already brought this up and answered it so my apologies ahead of time. I would like to know how such a large population of living man size organisms are feeding themselves and why don't they just waited out until they all starve down there and just picked up whatever they want from any level? unless that many "volunteers" are really being sent down there on a daily basis. I know I might be thinking too far into this for a game but the atmosphere and environment you created makes me want to think from a different perspective about your world, like how they reproducing? do they need a host? seeing that the similar to humanoids do they reproduce in some type of similar fashion like mammals? are the even warm-blooded? if they don't reproduce does that mean there's only "x" number of these creatures ever and each one of these expeditions is more like your the "first to enter" in every scenario you play? and if they don't need to eat, sleep or reproduce then this goes back to the previous question is there only a certain number of these hostile organisms?
....that was a lot more text than I wanted it to be
pretty sure they’re like an infection/parasite of some sorty@
so they need a host to grow into that or do they make multiple individuals?
well I've already left the wall of text I guess now I just wait to see what comes of it lol because I really am curious
they are the borg in organism form
the complex has been abandoned for "many years" according to documentary so waiting for them to die out is unviable for a few reasons, the most prominent being:
- The complex is evidently at risk of structural collapse due to lack of maintenance
- The stuff Warden requires may not survive for long (data caches deteriorating/corrupting due to conditions, HSUs malfunctioning etc.)
So, are we sure this takes place on Earth?
Yes, in the Chicxulub crater
is this confirmed?
I mean, it was a moderator that answered so I think so
for most part its covered in a thick layer of sediment+granite
It is confirmed that the complex lies in that crater
Is there gonna be any ARG type of situation with the lore? Just curious.
(i'd do a search for any ARG like convo, but discord busted lol)
holy shit it’s confirmed???
yeah check pinned messages of this server lol
I meant confirmed by the developers @vivid lion
I've been here for a while and knew about it
Lmao, it's my message that's pinned too
derp
its probably an atmosphere that has to be filtered but is otherwise breathable, spores or rubble dust
bruh why it called 10 chambers when there's nine(?) of yall?
rip
it will be max of 10 devs
bruh just noticed that the ranged infected in the game's banner on steam actually has a face
the more i know
(TL;DR how did this happen and I hope this hasn't already been answered)
The question I've been wondering is that this enemy that we're facing had to had a beginning, so if we can figure that out it could give us more insight into how they work. Presuming it's a virus of some kind that takes over human bodies because the sleepers look vaguely humanoid, is it a government experiment gone wrong, something like the flood from Halo where it's a species from space, or even just a prehistoric creature?
i think its a parasite, which is the "tongue" they shoot out at you
Hm
But how does it infect you
Is there a way to stop the process
Where did it come from
There's so many questions
Where did it come from, where did it go? Cotton eye Joe.... xD
Mindblown in german
I believe it’s a parasite that infects the host and changes the hosts body,
On the end screens you can see the infection rate
So I'm kinda imagining it as something like the flood from Halo
Maybe
Well I’d imagine it’s some underground facility like you know umbrella corporation type thing
I’d bet it was made honestly
Ohhhhhhh, good point
Yeah but also what's the point of making something like that
Science is done for a reason
Was it to combat something else within the universe of GTFO
Hey free body parts
Excuse my ignorance, but what's a BOW?
BIO ORGANIC WEAPON
Ohhhh
a living creature used as a weapon
But considering those two options there has to be either
Something that would want weapons like those
Well they like the dark we know this lol
Or a massive corporation that could both afford and think they could effectively maintain it
Or maybe both
A corporation with a private army or a secret weapon
Well considering the facility it’s self, they got money, and the warden is a AI, and that the Corp is using convicts well they gotta be a shadow Corp or something
Yeah basically
Also are we thinking that the AI is running the show or there's some band of humans behind it
I think our guys
Because the lab looks abandoned, but someone had to do maintenance on the machine
De fuk you talking about? :D
The convicts are in some kinda state of like cryo or something
And the AI is waking us up am sending us in
So we're sending people down there as food
I mean...
The convicts are expendable basicky
But at the same time we have state of the art AI
Why not a drone or robot
That can analyze the data way better
Expensive
Execute pinpoint commands
I KNOW WHY NO ROBOTS
But we've established this corporation has no shortage of money
The yhave to to the Vibe-checks (Bio scans)... robots cant do that
Also if the things can tear down reenforces blast doors
Well if they can destroy those they can kill humans too
@tall anchor That's what the warden want's you to believe
I believe it’s a AI
So it really makes no difference
Humans can stealth a bot can’t really
deal in absolutes
Either way there has to be someone behind it
Anyways my turn to go down see ya
Adios!
Aright so here's my take on the warden
I don't think it can be an AI running by itself because
- Maintenance on the machinery would be necessary, and as far as we can see no other bots are present
- Bots are more efficient than humans, if we had a capability to build an AI that complex there'd be drones and bots everywhere in that hole
- An AI wouldn't send humans down for no real reason when it has access to send itself down in a form of a bot, humans would only be needed to be sent down if other humans were in control
Facility is thrashed , I think all that’s left is the AI
People woulda been in the facility but infected or dead
AI is all that’s left to keep it all contained
But the AI needs something to power it, the machinery needs to be cleaned, it would just stop working after a while, and judging by how trashed the lab is, it's been a bit
And obviously not everyone was infected as we are there
Who is sending the AI the humans
There's just no way an AI could survive that long without more machines present, it'd need a power source, it'd need cleaning, it'd need a stable source of humans, ammo, guns
An AI couldn't get that many resources, or not enough to be able to send so many people inside
D-Class intensifies
hMMMM
Not known
Megalo is a good name
Sleepy.bois
sleepers for the normal one
And juggernaut/jugger for the big guys
Whipper for the whippy boi
Im still thinking for the pew pew guys
The shooty bois
I think this is the whippy guy prob gonna be next upgrade for sleep
Or is that sleepy
uh sounds like some dumb child like slang
OHHH
We're naming the zombies
they are prob not zombies
eh the brainstorming is still good though
hm
It's just a timewaster ^^
You never know
Maybe all people might call the things we named it or soemthing lol\
They sure will :D Let's call the ugly ones Lavars :'D
Jugger is also blind?
WE because you pretty F-ed down there
Jug may be blind, i didn't saw him with an assistant dog :'D
Ok so jugger is basicly sleepy but stronker
So what are the creatures in this game
Sleeping juggernaut/jugger and crawlers
Crawlers are the basic creature?
We don't talk about the others like
WARNING SPOILERS!!!
|| the invis guys, i call them ghosts ||
frick theres ||ghost||???
yeah
Nah
check out the first gtfo teaser trailer :))))$
yeah
inhales
The...
WAT
Is it this
I’m gonna need a bigger shotgun and a much bigger hammer
Nice
im stupid xD
My only concern is... can it be killed with either Bullets or bludgeoning
@stiff slate isn't it fun fo find you >:)
yeyeye And now please leave and GTFO :P (just a joke, stay! :D)
actually @hard echo?
I know it was a joke
@tall anchor
WARNING SPOILERS!!!
|| mabye ;) ||
WE NEED MOAR SHOTGUN
so Sleepers, juggernaut, crawler, shooters and rushers?
@fallen pendant SPOILERS!
Sleepers is an umbrella term
It's part of the lore
Yeah, but its' fitting
no, just for the first day
there’s the ||face monsters, the shooters, big variants of both, spike, shadow||
we shouldn't leak everythink we found xD
I wasn’t prepped for this...
Sleeper, Crabs, Ogres, Phantoms, and Rushers
@tall anchor those are too long
the gamepedia has a bunch of stuff
That’s the names Im gonna use
just look at that
yeah
for gtfo already?
yes, but some just look here, and suddenly see spoilers for stuff that's still to see ^^
GTFO has been public for 2 ish years
Alright... so I’m actually curious as to why 4 people are willing to risk their lives and go into a death trap
@hard echo yes or no to the ||bull charging thing||
Oh underground is called The compelx
And let me guess, this is their sentence?
@tall anchor not 100% certain. but 78%. Could have been that i was confused when i saw ot
You might have been?
They never said the types of zombie types
they did
wer
not directly
@tall anchor i don't own it, but watched stream. And then one showed up. Maybe it was a normal one behaving different. I couldn't see him that good
just look at the “Enemies” page on the gamepedia
yeah
they pack hunt too
so if you wake the sleepers they follow you
not your teammate
The thing that bites my mind is:
They react to sound, but you can open a loud ass door and they chilling. I know it's because it would be kinda bad if they reacted to everything, but i hope they find something that makes sense
What does the rushers even look like?
page on “strikers” has a couple pictures
Ooh so the strikers wat we called crawlers lol
it’s not an official name
Oooh
it’s just the most used
Really
and the devs don’t care what you call them
that’s what they’re called in the code
originally
but it really doesn’t matter
Crawling isnt unique to one type or the other mind you
I mean... everygame had players come up with there own name... i remember "the Forest" :D
I think everything should be 1 word not just "big thingys"
y
yeah fair
BIG DUDE!
I wanna edit it xD
Dude is a good name though
yeah
yeah go for it!
Juggernaut for big strikers
"DUDE there's a dude" "dude, what?
DUDE!!!!!
Juggernaut is to long
Jugger?
Juggernaut is boring
idk
BIG DUDE YEETING STUFF!!
Something menacing, like "steve" :P
i'll edit it when i find a really good name
It's prob what im gonna do all day
instead of playing overwatch
the “Rundown” page took me like 2 hours
im satill thinking
I mean, they get scared if you call your friend dude "hey dude" "WHERE DONT MOVE"
It's hard thinking for the big striker and big shooter
y
i cant really think anything
Until they get something more unique for shooters I wouldnt bother
Yeah
I cant imagine they intend to keep using a slightly larger model
Im also thinking for name shooter
Thumb for the big one, index the tentacle one, middle for shooters, ring for crawlers, and pinky for the small ones xd
Why are strikers not called lickers
you can call em that ^^
ah
you just need to burn it into people heads xD
Or flappers
yeah
Cause they got flappy heada
FLAPPERS XD
What are those scanner dudes called?
??
Hentai
scot?
Yeah scout is the current term
Scouts
scout is nice
Ah okay
Scout is the most fitting, yeah ^^
Do u guys think striker is ok?
Freaky ass looking dudes
I dont like striker
Striker implies melee to me which is not really what they do
same, sound like a footballer-term "Dude i did a striker today"
The big dudes could just be striker maybe
Like "shrek"
like jugger but since u dont like it im finding another name
I just want to yell "OH FUCK IT'S SHREK" in a serious situation lol
lmao
Flappers and clappers
yeeter
yeah
Skeeter
So should be whipper?
i like it
Yeah
Doing it for real lmao
I still gotta finish a couple more pages
The shooters have a walk that reminds me of something...
Ah yes anxiety kicks in
I cannot remember what though
@tall anchor if you need more mistakes in the text, just let me know
Attack in Titan? :P
but my life is busy af
i have no fuking idea what you are talking about xD
delete it again :D
It wasnt deleted in the first place
I mean, you should delete it again :P
not the right chat.
But yeah, Attack on titan there are some that run like this ^^
Changed it lol
It's relevant to the discussion so I'd perceive it as fine, but anyways
Shooters are odd
Shooters dont sound good
Agreed
Let us think
Thinks in german
Just call it striker now
yeyeey first shooter :D
big striker?
No, just striker
oh god no
The little ones are whippers now
oh no
lmao
lmao
Lickers it is
even worse
Striker is a bad name
😳
ik
The little ones dont even strike
they whip with tong
Tong xD
Tongue
tongue
Is correct
there we go
But it's not there tongue
you can shoot them in half and this whip comes out of there torso ^^
Thats why they are whippers :P
whipper sounds better
striker just dosent sound good
And i already edited it huhAh
"there are Whip's" sounds so great.
"There are the strikers" nono
And they could call it in one sylable sor soemthing
idk englsuirhse
We call the big ones Bigguh.. sounds like "Bug guy" xD
hm
It has to be something you can remember in panic.
Dont worry
Yeah, scout is fine
Theres a monster called whipper now
Big boi?
No
