In terms of strength, the smallest melee weapon is a knife - I don't know whether to compare them making a sleeper's head explode like a watermelon with a single stab, or them obliterating ~inch thick steel doors with ~5(?) swings
... I wonder how they'd compare to halo's Spartans or Orion program
I expect the measurements in terms of force exerted would get out of hand fast
But I'm sure someone in this chat would be autistic enough to actually do said measurements
... who was it that spent several days trying to calculate the force required to break down the blood door in dauda's audio log?
is heart rate a false equivalency to being winded?
are you okay frostty
If it's against Woods, I think his luck/determination would be a bit of an issue
Just brainstorming
No, I mean like the average, generic KSO
Not any of the dream team
Prob depends on the KSOs motivation but I think I might be able to beat one with someone else
yeah they're like absurdly strong
but I'd guess they're like that only for so long without the constant influx of drugs
trying to think realistically, I propably couldn't bring one down with a friend if the KSO is still in good shape
okay but the KSOs we play as get winded after running for like 10 seconds with any mildly heavy object
extreme lack of stamina, just avoid them for a bit and they'll tire out
take into acc we r carrying like 40 kilos of ammo and tools
a normal kos would have a bat and a pdw with 1 2 mags only
Depends if we are in combat or not but we absolutely are jacked and on drugs cuz we should not be this agile with the gear we are running
also do muscles not atrophy in hsu
the glps i think function to supress hunger so maybe not
muscles uhh im guessin it depends on time of inmersion, usually hsu is for either hours, days to months so we no kno
water, drink ur piss
✨
Had this convo a few months ago. It's something that's not really addressed by the game or any log.
Best guess is HSUs could provide some form of nutrients between drops but its not directly talked about.
Only cannon bodily functions we know about is Schaeffer and his buckets
That could just be measuring their stability while "reviving" a KSO out of hydrostasis.
I'm more concerned on what Schaeffer is eating in both OG and ALT, especially since the reason he was a KSO at all was entertaining an HSU to avoid starvation
Quick question. Since the NAM-V virus and the parasite are two separate things (although symbiotic) and everyone on the surface is infected (to my understanding), is everyone on the surface a monster or are they just all dead and the monsters are only in Garganta ?
^parasites are local to garganta
More than likely they're dead instead of being sleepers. While there are definitely some creatures on the surface (at least in the ALT universe) they're likely leaks from Garganta and not mutated infected people.
The virus was also more devastating for those on the surface than in Garganta due to their extremely limited knowledge that it even existed.
As far as turning into creatures, we dont have much to go off of other than their designs and the mention of human corresponding DNA found in several of them. Additionally a good majority of the sleepers in Garganta came from the large chamber of The Inner, and spread out when the last employees went to go fight it.
He mentions that he finds commissaries overrun by Sleepers in one of his logs, and he did clearly find food, as there are several empty food containers/cans in his hideout
I remember this, I'd have to look if it was pre or post Schaeffer in HSU
crazy that dauda is shcaeffers dad am i right guys
And hacket is maddox dad
https://gtfo.wiki.gg/wiki/ALT://Rundown_1.0_Logs#3NY-798-65Y so whhat was this about
The following article archives all of the logs, voice-overs, and other related lore which can be found within ALT://Rundown 1.0, or were released at the same time as the rundown. As these logs may have gone through revisions in subsequent updates to GTFO, this article represents the current version of...
ohh we dont know
ok
damn
<@&408548765599793173>
does anyone know the lore of what the wendy's frozen beverage is?
so like, did we ever find out what the pMOTHER trial samples were or is that only mentioned in the r2a1 mission description and never again anywhere else?
Isn't it for the neonate we carry in r2e1?
Or smth like that
no its the cargo case we recover in r2a1
wait i misunderstood
i don't think there's anything that links it to what happens to the neonate
maybe its the stuff that gets put into the neonate
That's how i interpreted it
i don't think so.
regardless, that infant is left behind and presumably dies at the end of r3
it was only ultimately relavant in helping our quad access further expeditions
via cracking some 'dna lock' or otherwise, one might assume.
Personally, i would think its related to the Project rise. Maybe comparing the Samples from it Could determine what May have been the issue with them Not surviving for long
After all, both are cases that are related to rapidly growing Embryos
Thats the message i was looking for😃
Finally played r8 after 2 years and get to read all the lore now. Im frantically looking for some sort of cop-out as the story turned out to be quite underwhelming, and while im not against "and then everybody died" kind of stories, gtfo really left a bad taste in my mouth
Also the whole all-infecting virus that kills all and its in every universe schtick is kinda lame tbh
my headcanon is they order te main 4 to immediately go into hsus, and we dont know how quarantined the restricted zone was so it could be like nontouch anymore
and they use the other sectors
and waos
yeah i think theres a solid chance, certainly a higher chance than the main 4 surviving r8 at all in the first place
same
after all that suffering that both the players and the characters endure it would be just comically evil ending to infect the last clean membrane or so
comically stupid too
i mean, story makes it very obvious that they are NOT good people
ill write it off as lack of funding for 10cc that made them to wrap the story as it is
yeah but also wants to redeem em
it was mentioned the virus can survive for many years even without a host
but will die over time when the host dies
they r on a clean state of miind and seem to clearly regret what they did
HSU was the solution bcos they can just remain inside indefinitely until the virus has died out
i dont know much about the EF-01 expedition but wasn't it kinda small? how many people do they have there? also there was some time discrepancy thing but Durant is alive at the end of r8e2, unless his message is a recording that is part of security measures they set to isolate anyone who tped to them... though it is just my schizo rambling and i doubt 10cc really thought it out
overall i expected more and am a bit dissapointed
2.5 years and 800 hours after i get this
it was small but we tpd half of kds deep with us
so like, probs +200 people
just by the hsus we see on there at thhe end
yeah people isnt the issue
the major concern is: the moment they stepped into that dimension probably some of the virus went into the air
and if it makes contact with any wildlife even a worm on the floor its over the planet is done for
but its also possible on a small chance that there was no wind or something and that virus never made it out to touch any living creatures
its a reasonable assumption imo that the expedition team made precautions to prevent any accidental future teleports spreading the virus too
they know the destination coordinate so they wouldv built the precautions around that
thats my only hope and headcanon
rlly ti can be the ending u want since we dont know ✨
not until my new game afterfo
which will follow a new team coming back to cure the virus
yeah, its odd that u just see trees imo
in reality probably u'd see a bunch of coverings isolating the tp area
the terrain around seems kinda barren so while it is most certain a limitation of the engine we can assume durant's expedition deforestated everything in a 30 kilometer radius except for the very point we teleported to
mm tru
i may be wrong there but weren't there mayans who fought the sleepers?
virus didn't kill the planet back then
though im sure as hell it contacted other lifeforms
Didn't the mayans use magic or something like that?
abyssmal dogshit if true
Ik the mayans used their secret tech i just dont remember if it was magic or na
lore is even worse than i thought
i would be better off never reading all of this and still living in a blissful ignorance
I don't think this is true team
not to sound rude ofc but im really dissapointed
bamboozle??

A Fractured History
Las Noticias Central, Science Desk
June 3rd 2050
As the cleanup continues after the devastating Merida quake, a team of scientists from the Instituto Geológico are trying to figure out when the Merida faultline appeared, and if the seismic shift was a sign of things to come, or a forgotten history.
Their research has not been limited to the Yucatan. In their quest for answers they have sought archeological societies as far north as the Texas Independence and as far south as Honduras. The answers they were seeking turned up at the Lamanai Archaeological Project in Belize. The team uncovered ancient Mayan records of several earthquakes in the region, with the most recent one being in the mid 13th century.
Researchers at the Lamanai project studied scores of tablet inscriptions from their extensive library and discovered reference to a series of catastrophic population declines that occurred in the Yucatan between 800 and 1300 CE. Until the Merida quake, these population fluctuations were assumed to be related to the frequent outbreaks of disease in the region.
Now, with the context of the newly discovered fault line it seems like the ancient Mayan scribes were giving us more information than we knew. While disease is still almost certainly the reason for the massive drop in Mayan population during the 9th century, the cause of the disease is now much clearer. Earthquakes.
Earthquakes are not a major cause of casualties in the ancient world. Structures were too small and the population was too widely dispersed to inflict mass casualties even from the most powerful of quakes. It is the famine and disease, and the hardship which follows that claims the most number of lives. There have been man [Corrupted]

“Where did the Mayans go?” - Our Earth magazine 9/25/43
A new theory regarding the sudden demise of Mayan culture has been presented by Dr. Yvette Hernandez at the Anthropology Forum convention. Dr. Hernandez’s research posits that the Mayans were almost completely wiped out several times by an illness they referred to as “Flea Demons”. Though the interpretation of hieroglyphic stelae leaves much room for interpretation, Dr. Hernandez believes she has discovered conclusive references to mass deaths related to the illness on three separate occasions, right up to the 16th century during the occupation of Mayan territory by the Spanish Conquistadors…
“Superman, Superbug” - Medical Examiner 12/3/44
We’re at war. Right now. All of us. Our entire species. We’ve always been at war, and until recently we’ve been winning the fight. No quarter has been given to our adversary, yet no matter how often we drive the opponent back, they return with greater power and more tactical strength to assault us once again. Who is this arch-nemesis? What has been attacking our species since we first came down from the trees? Who is this enemy we cannot vanquish? Bugs. Bacteria. Viruses. Microorganisms. From the black death, to the Mayan Flea Demons, to Ebola and the SARS Covid outbreaks in the early part of the century, the Superbug always returns stronger and more resilient than before; so, what are we doing to fight them?...```
“Nightmare Neighbours” - Deep Fields 06/14/44
The idea of an interstellar virus that could survive an environment as hostile as space is a mystery that has captivated the imagination of both scientists and the general public for decades. A recent biochemical analysis of those remarkably robust yet unassuming tardigrades is once again forcing us to question the origin of some of earth's oldest viruses. If the lowly tardigrade is capable of withstanding being frozen, irradiated, desiccated, asphyxiated, starved, battered and all around abused, what about the viruses it carries? Are they too...```
These are the only mentions of Mayans in the lore
My cop-out answer is that the mwp can selectively transmit stuff, hence why no sleepers come with us when jumping. It would then track that it can simply not transmit the virus when jumping
Which would tie into all the genome database building we do earlier, the warden needs to know what a regular genome looks like so it doesn't transmit contaminated material to the clean membrane
that's not a bad theory actually
"Conclusion: the Collection cannot be completed. The virus is the primary life force of membranes in which it exists. All will become impure. In this membrane, and all we have traveled.
"
What does "primary life force" mean? I know its vague but id like to hear some theories
it soars above everything else
i- thought it was p clear
Doesn't it mean that it's in control over every life form?
well if u consider exterminating as control yes
Some will need to die, but that's a sacrifice nam-v is willing to make
nam-v still can't traverse vacuum tho
i can imagine planets as pockets of infection but i absolutely can't see how the whole universe can be infected
even with existence of aliens capable of transmitting it further
Suck up the Nam-V Virus with an Industrial Vaccum Cleaner, Surely
also i got a question about project insight archives
it contains coordinates of different membranes and their state
how did they acquire this data and how did they check if membrane was clean or not?
im sure it was explained somewhere but i can't find anything
destination has living flora, so i'd say no.
these shrubs have bulbs
dead plants dont bulb
200 seems like far too many - i'd personally assumed anywhere from 12 to 24 people total
a kso team or maybe two, and scientists
clearly Destination also has nitrogen+oxygen conditions sustainable for human operations
take into aaccount that we can check HSUs that are functional within normal gtfo zones where they would be in probably lss ideal situations - i cannot say an average but usually half are functioning, a quarter are unkown and the others failing
yes, long ago.
by sheer amoount of hsus on kds, there has to be at last +50 thhat are fuctioning
i would say +100
and they dont need power or are independant as thhe ones per zone in normal missions are isolated
hold on, are you talking total people that left on ef01, or in the kds-deep wreckage we teleport with us at the end of r8e2?
i can't assume as to the wreckage, but we didn't bring the secondary objective reactor with us, and if they have any personal power units - they wont last long
you'd need to be under for at least a month to ensure reinfection doesn't occur
5-7 weeks ~~
hsu units on the game have been left abandoned since the facility was taken over, and about half are functioning - that means they ave amazing battery or are independent
u can check by terminal by listing them
they say their status as unknow, functional and borken
i still am not sure how infectious nam-v is
like it can only survive within a host or mere air and hsu from kds deep are infested too
and like if mayans fought the nam-v why wasn't earth destroyed back then
nothing like that is mentioned in logs. the mayans didn't win, it was more of a draw. they both died out. either mayans running suicide missions into the caves or regardless, the excuse i've heard is that the population density then wasn't enough for it to spread far beyond the initial POI
ive seen this take about population density but then the whole "nam-v is infecting everything including animals" premise doesn't work
deus ex machina. r7e1 dauda log, and a few others. -- the is no natural immunity, if you have it, you die, it has an uncountable number of stains... if your immune system is "winning", it induces a "stall", where it goes dormant in your system temporarily, mutates itself to hard counter you, then goes at it again. it spreads through every possible vector except the vaccum of space where there is literally nothing to spread through
it is written explicitly to be opaf
by this logic mayans couldn't have contacted nam-v because the whole planet would've died
throw it up to plot contrivance. i know some people here really hate the mayan plot point
im more inclined to hate the whole post r6 plot as a whole, but it also works
have a read of the "for dummies" doc in the pins of this channel
did that
the story was... incredibly vague, at best, pre-r6.
then it sort of exploded
from 4-5 logs a rundown to dozens
not to mention in-gameplay lore
well yes, but i honestly prefer a more vague and open to interpretation, but somewhat grounded story than the whole existential multiverse virus that has 200% lethality and can survive indefinetely because of parasite magic
we do not know. in logs, the only referenced expedition is ef01 to destination in one worldline, and the jungleplanet in another. this, and the huge ass excel log, are unexplained as to their source
bummer 🙁
i also wondered why travel to EF-01 but not Earth, but i think it is also not explained anywhere
you know it depends. me personally, i know it has a lot of holes, buit i quite enjoy the pre-apocalypse lore.
i think ef01 was simply what the device was set to when insight got their hands ahold of it, in og at least.
i enjoy the pre-apocalypse lore too, it builds quite the vibe tbh, but the rest of the story completely nullifies all prior world-building as everything was for naught and not only in our membrane, but in every one
i don't know if it is relavant, but the r6d4 'corrupted' data cubes lead to alternate infected earths
at least thats for me
truly, "shit's fucked" the game
i mean not even scps use this kind of threats usually
a hopeless ending i know a lot of people didnt want
major overkill and buzzkiller for me
i think its realistic and fitting the vibe in a way, though
even with everything in lore, i can't 100% rule out survival (so you could hold out hope)... but its slim af.
its funny, without in-depth lore knowledge, you would view the ending completely differently
hence this image
we quite possibly, likely even, doomed the last of humanity
in our selfish desire to survive
im ngl i dont rlly get why its so hard to accept
hav u played half life 2
i guess i wont spoil anything if u havnt
who hasn't played hl2 at this point? lol
but basically the hl2 lore is even worse
ehhhh maybe?.. but as i said i think the "mysterious warden uses you as expendables on a near-dead earth and you try your best to survive" is better than "aliens use warden to control suicide-squads oh and btw it is hopeless and everything that you've been doing for 83 levels is beyond futile", but im repeating myself at this point and it is a matter of one's taste in stories
moth? seriously? its on sale pretty much year round
ive been busy being non busy
it released ~15 years ago
i said above that nam-v shoudn't travel through space so it is unlikely that it will infect everything
yea i didnt get (fully) into gaming until like 8 years ago
but if EF-01 humans are the last humans alive it is ggs for them anyway, with or without virus
yeah u can always grab the orange box for like, 1 dolar or something
i mean regardless, i enjoy talking with people about it. i woulnd't have been here for half a decade if i didnt
if anything the gtfo ending is more like portal ending than hl2 ending
||until u realize theyr in the same universe and portal ending has chell stepping outside into the hl2 ending||
i mean yeah, that is a bit unknown. it got to earth via the collector's ship, but as to how they observed it spreading between planets, we may never know
potential cop-out??
perhaps as with sleepers, it just stayed dormant for long enough for asteroid impacts and scattered collisions to do it
either collectors are lying or they are incompetent
like an asteroidal nomad
universe is biieeeg (wonder what they did there)
well their ship has an interior
me when Infection mechanic ingame isn't NAM-V
either way, we will never know -- and damn, i really wish we got to see their ship
my headcanon is that it is actually just how clogged ur headpiece filter is
true
Mine is it’s just accurate to my hayfever irl
there are a couple of instances of infected collectors in lore, but we never get to see those either
and disinfection pack is just u replacing one of the filters of many
nor any infected specimens from their collection
Frostty, did you see that the Snatcher's body/face is very similar to a Unit
actually my headcanon is that all of the players stats are actually their suit's stats and not the body
We should have built a rocket and flew away like in subnautica
cos otherwise it makes no sense for packs to instantly work like that
hp is just suit durability and meds simply patch that up
cos when the suit breaks u die to infection instantly
Infection ingame is just some separate unknown contaminant with a clearly documented cure
idk
buds
specifically the first image with the green pants. Look at the face, then compare to a Snatcher's face
ore lived out our days on the dead earth, going up, rather than down to deep.
yeah, i really dont see it, sorry.
to what extent are Sleepers human
depends...
obviously not all sleepers are human, there are the destination fauna and what not...
most of the sleepers in garganta presumably were once fully human
as to respawn room sacks... that is cloning of already infected individuals... so perhaps not?
and mothers... the children are infected in womb so i have no fucking clue if that counts
genetically, the parasite is mutating them to achieve the forms it wants to control, so their cells would be no less human than cancer cells
the parasites seem to keep themselves whole in hosts they control, laying eggs somewhere near the intestines, hard to tell
but i'm no biologist
an actual pro, @rocky wraith would have a better answer
I thought the sleepers were supposed to dissolve after death, I don't know why these corpses are present offhand
According to Captain Puente they are coordinated and highly aggressive. I have asked the soldiers to capture one but they tell me the creatures disappear before their corpses can be recovered. Not disappear… vanish, maybe? It's probably a translation issue.
### Entry: Gallus {genus}
Poss. intro? fix end bit
/quote
There are cross-species behavioral distinctions that separate all species within the genus. The dark-skinned variants tend to be more active hunters, suggesting the darker pigmentation is a product of natural selection. They are harder to see and therefore more successful predators. The light skinned breed are still vicious and will attack at the slightest provocation, but they do not seek the prey as actively, they are more disposed to sedentary, almost somnific, behavior. They wait, and strike when roused.
/quote
in gameplay, all sleepers do for performance reasons.
in lore, only the red "wave" variant/subspecies do
thats why all the corpses we come across, and i do mean all of them, are the white/passive subspecies
very interesting
I ascribe that they are permeable to the dimension. As in once dead they return to their original dimensions because of the fuckery with the matter wave projector. The ones who remain are original to this dimension.
That wasn't the question...
It was this
I think a few of them are. Most are spawned imo
I thought you said "schaeffer" not "snatcher" lmao
i still dont really see it
Strikers eyes are hardly noticable
b u t t h e y a r e t h e r e
Which is why great amount of ppl think sleepers use echolocation to find you

how do we eat
unknown, presumably nutrients are fed to us in stasis.
but given we are dead in stasis... unknown
The amniotic fluid is the protective liquid contained by the amniotic sac of a gravid amniote. This fluid serves as a cushion for the growing fetus, but also serves to facilitate the exchange of nutrients, water, and biochemical products between mother and fetus.
Colloquially, the amniotic fluid is commonly called water or waters (Latin liquor ...
...but also serves to facilitate the exchange of nutrients, water, and biochemical products...
(Lore to that question was me an fuster was talking about his gtfo vid and he said lore channel is just like either people asking actual questions or "how they eat")
The nuts and bolts of the process
are a closely guarded secret, but sources speculate that the procedure
likely uses a synthetic amniotic fluid to sustain and protect the body
while it is in an induced comatose state. In this state, the body is -
for all intents and purposes - dead, but no cell deterioration or
physical decay occurs. For the human in Hydrostasis, the heart, and
time, stops.
i'll answer them all the same if someone doesn't before i see them.
i check this channel at least once a day. have for years.
I keep like 5 discord servers always cleared of any messages
i only have four discords. a private D&D server, gtfo, dow, and evolve reunited.
Not really a lore question but more of an observation: Snatchers don’t openly appear to be a Nightmare enemy but they share the same wiggly tendrils of NM Shooters/NM Scouts, and differ drastically in ecology than other Sleepers of all kinds
They also lack the vertical split jaw with teeth and other growths
well they are from the original worldline in r7, not the nightmare one, so it makes sense.
Could also potentially be in addition to the use of GLP-1s like we collect in-game. Being a hunger suppressant, and using the GLP-2s we collect less often to help prevent liver issues.

@eternal talon did we ever get the tutorial operatives classification number?
look like it is randomized, at least to some extent.
it is announced less than 30 seconds after dropping. I don't have the game installed, but you could probably load in a couple dozen times to check
always t-xxxx
Solid, will do here this week and cross reference with 000
Dropped 50 times and had others drop as well. I dont think its random, at least in the current game. T-0000 seems to be the designation no matter who drops or how many times you drop.
After cross referencing, there is no listed T-0000 in any log ALT or OG, as well as 000. Sadly might be a mystery person
i meant random as in the numbers following 't'
every time I and other dropped it was t-000
really? interesting.
i pulled up two seperate videos on YT and they had different numbers
both t-xxxx
GTFO is a survival horror first-person shooter cooperative game developed by Swedish indie studio 10 Chambers.
GTFO players are forced to explore the vast underground complex in to complete the Warden's objectives. Complicating the process is the presence of hideous sleeping monsters, who have overrun the whole area. The players must strategi...
etc
did it break at some point?
does it just voice over "subject t-zero-zero-zero-zero"?
if it broke but was never fixed that'd be funny
Wouldn't be too surprising, Ill lyk after I check
@eternal talon Dropped 50 times in R7 tutorial and it was randomized, however there were a few IDs that matched up with some listed in 000, including a Dauda, and a few Henriksons
Doesn't provide any context as to who tutorial person is, but it was interesting that prominent characters appeared in a small sample of the numbers
it's probably safe to say that its random as intended to be our kso, as in cosmetics, rather than one of the main crew
... and any shared numbers is a coincidence
What do we make out of it being T-0000 now?
imo? it probably broke in some update post r7 and the devs either didn't or couldn't fix it - wouldn't be the first time
R6B1 sand textures…
0000 doesn't sound like a 'normal' kso number, and we have an entire spreadsheet of examples...
Surely it used to be tied to player count/how many beat tutorial
because there would never be more than 9999 players who beat the tutorial /s
Or it just resets back to 0
Or it becomes A000
Or 000A
look at clustertruck's chart. it goes up and down wildly
It could also potentially be a digital KSO similar to when Marcus Gantus sent some through after the tutorial area was constructed.
Most likely just a fill in for "your character" but a little sad there wasnt a conclusive answer of who tutorial person is
there wasnt a conclusive answer to anything in this game

hey, do we ever get an explanation as to why the ALT and main membranes collide?
specifically? no.
Cool
Other than ALT Schaeffers's line of "matter wave collapse, thats why we've seen all these anomalies " in R8D2, No given specific reason

the face of waking up in a hydrostasis unit with no idea who you are or where you are
Wasn't it in r8b2 or was that a similar voice line?

"we need to erase everything in those datacubes-"
hold on why am i transripting
The following article archives all of the logs, voice-overs, and other related lore which can be found within Rundown 8.0, or were released at the same time as the rundown. As these logs may have gone through revisions in subsequent updates to GTFO, this article represents the current version of the logs as found within the game.
No i swear he mentions the anomalies
"You should know there are reports of "membranous deformities" in this sector"
but thats cuz u tp between alpha and garganta
Cuz that is ball knowledge
I’m getting sick of this hog
Thesis: Every installation of GTFO is ontologically distinct
That time someone aggroed the entire map because they sneezed while holding left click? Canon timeline.
Every seed, every desync, every missed shot, every door someone accidentally opens too early these are not “mistakes.” They are historical records from adjacent containment timelines.
You wiped because somewhere, in a materially real branch of existence, four prisoners actually did panic and die under one spitter cluster.
The reason GTFO has matchmaking issues is because the game is struggling to align you with prisoners from sufficiently compatible universes. Extreme lag occurs when two realities with contradictory moral outcomes attempt synchronization. If one player has “already died” in too many adjacent timelines, packet loss increases because causality itself resists the connection.
Speedrunners are ontological poachers. They move through unstable realities too quickly for the Warden to fully instantiate suffering.
Sleeper lore
The sleepers are listening to a version of you that failed. They pray for you because they already know the outcome probability distribution curve.
Ammo packs are extradimensional guilt compression devices left behind by the collectors. The reason they only have “uses” instead of bullets is because the Warden quantizes regret into discrete survivable rations, hence why they are called prisoners.
Rundown 8 takes place after the Bone Epoch.

@grave glade
dont forget about the relief packs, they are yummy and on top of that they also heal you for 20%
Average iron-deficient czech prisoner btw
@modest turtle is this true?
Perhaps
so its a yes
Sure
WOULD YOU RATHER
- be forced to guide a random team of KSOs (manually issuing their commands and overseeing them via map) to complete a random expedition (you die if they lose)
- play Russian roulette with Schaeffer but the revolver has five bullets and you go first.
The second one has a higher chance of me winning
lmao
someone needs to play more RTS games
personally, I think I'd have slightly better than 1/6 odds if I picked 1.
still wouldn't be great odds though.
Does DnD count
that's a ttrpg, and from experience, i don't think it applies at all.
i DM spelljammer
If it's an A tier I can probably guide them appropriately
random expedition, random KSOs. Could be the god squad, could be not.
but we goated
I believe in the dream team
XCOM GTFO is kinda fire ngl
Would Love to See my Assault KSO with 97% accuracy Miss the scattergun shot
does the snatcher have any origin in the Alt dimension considering it appears only in r5
It appears in r7
yes but r7 isnt alt dimension
origin? wdym
i mean most enemies in general dont have 'origins' per se
i mean considering snatcher was semi explained in r7
maybe there is like a one niche log explaining snatchers
i thought at least
iit wasnt rlly semi explaiined
it just got a long intro
chafer sees it, gets scared and then we see iit in a cool room
sometimes i wonder if they ever had a storywriter
probably not
i mean for lore yes for enemies not
Yes storyboarding is done in every studio (basically)
10C probably didnt go super deep into enemy lore
R7 is OG
Oh wait nvm I see what you mean
Im dumb af
Not really, its more of an added challenge to several levels earlier than R7C1. The ALT doesn't have R7 occur to our knowledge, so its one of those things that could be chopped up to "its always been there in the ALT dimension".
The "origin" in R7 is more of a plot hole since we never encountered them earlier and never get a clear explanation of what happened in that area beforehand. (I don't hold this against the team since introducing new enemies to the game added a needed variety at the time)
how manual is a command? like if they are doing an alarm, do we have to specificy how to point the guns and fire? or can it just be kill the enemies
hard to say from a certified lore standpoint, probably along the lines of:
go to zone xxx
fortify zone xxx
begin security scan sequence in zone xxx
like, the KSOs aren't dumb individually, they just don't have the free will to choose their actions
issuing general commands they should be able to follow on their own
if you tell them to just complete the expedition, they'd probably get stuck on a security door or if something unexpected occurs and they require input on what to do about it
mostly macro, a little bit of micro, i guess.
<@&408548765599793173>
What on earth is happening the R8B2 log in the bulkhead room lmao?
audio or text log?
Audio
That log is part of a series of logs following a pregnant woman and her partner John. She has been infected and is in a state of delirium. Timestamp is ~10 years prior to the events of the game
It is likely (since it's in R8 and the dimensions are a bit funky) the same woman you can hear in the ALT R6D4 fog dimension. The details of the situation is a little hard to pin-point but it's likely she is pregnant and contracted NAM-V, then is suffering delusions because of it.
There is another log you can find with her that gives a "conclusion" to her story, but no spoilers on what or where
Ghostly beat me to it lmao
definitely one of the more memorable series of connected audio logs
Dam
So where artifacts ever explained at all anywhere and I missed it or?
I'm assuming they're just part of the collectors collection and have been scattered around hence why the warden would want them as a misc objective but idk if this is ever stated anywhere
There was some log about it
They're explained in a few logs but never explicitly what they are in relation to the collectors. They're likely in relation to the production of boosters since the same tier names are mentioned in a KDS log, but nothing is directly said about what they are for.
I dont think the Artifacts we find and Minerals SMC unearthed are the same
some of them mention the weight and density, and converting it into Cubic meters it was too big for the ones we find
my best guess is that Warden is interested in them and just gives out boosters that are still in the KDS stock
Which ones if I can ask? At least for OG R6BX, SXN-AA7-IOP mentions that they found artifacts and that "It was clear by their geometry and form that the artifacts were also constructed and not by natural process" as well as took core samples that were tested both in and out of Garganta later on. Both logs have no description other than that about the artifacts they found, and the ALT dimension is even less descriptive, only having Howard Stokes analysis that doesnt give us much at all.
I'm not counting you out or saying you're wrong if I overlooked one while checking quick, but I still think it's possible SMC uncovered several Warden Artifacts in that instance.
Also to clarify, I'm not dead-set on defending that they found artifacts like we find in game at that point, I think it's just a possibility with what we do and don't know.
the ones found on the terminals out in the open
not the lore log, but the ambient ones
some of them are like reports on tests conducted on the artifacts
just lemme finish my 5D1 run and i will make a screenshot
and then proceeds to give you melee damage booster with enemy distance condition
with this info it should be around half a cubic meter big
of course its not the only one, there is a possibility that its just the one they have handpicked for the tests because it was that big
but all other similar logs are in the same ballpark
Deep Reach = the one that reached The Inner?
Deep Reach is the excavation to reach the inner through the hollow tubes though right? The log discusses a different pocket that Gianna Hilton's team found when digging before the founding of Insight and the switch to getting to the inner over iridium mining.
Dammit Ghostly, beat me again lol
i mean, thats where they have fond the artifacts yes
it does also describe Cretisium as a reflective metal, does sound more like the stuff inside the matterwave and not the seethrough artifacts we collect
refractory mb
i cant read
Some, not all of them. The MWP and data cubes (blocks) were labeled as artifacts as well upon discovery and research.
I think without further info on specific area names and labeling of artifact numbers, it's hard to tell either way.
I'm still inclined to believe it's potentially warden artifacts based on the description of using a "jaw crusher" in their lab. If it is similar to actual ones, the artifact described in that log would not fit in the crusher itself.
If there is a open terminal log describing an artifact from L18-AT06, that woukd answer it
eating artifacts like a jaw breaker
yum
would it imply the worm inside is made out of gummy?
Would be a fantastic random log
Did the 5D1 clear btw?
Im planning on making a cosplay centered around a standard KSO unit used before The Complex went under (no pun intended), is there any implied lore about the standard gear and outfit used by a KSO grunt?
theres guns lthat explicitly seem kovac based [like the kovac peacekeeper and PDW standing for Personal Defense Weapon]
theres also many outfits woth the KDS or Kovac branding
u can check on [[Apparel]] their names
Ok ty
If you're going for standard character, Slendi's link is the way to go, if you're going for a specific character, there is specific loadouts and cosmetics for each playable character.
i mean yes the main 4 were KSOs at some point but we dont know if they used the apparel or weaponry they are connexted with
could be considering schaeffers outfit...
Ngl, specific loadouts is Not Charakter based. Yes If you use specific promos you can See their loadouts, but in every other promos their loadouts do change
im thinking less so abt the main 4, and more about what the complex security forces were equipped with
so im prob just gonna get creative
I was so down with my friends to make a group cosplay of GTFO
But we would be the enemies
Like each and every one of us would be either a chicken, a striker, a charger, a hybrid or a scout
imo, probably the evaluation loadout
Scout 😝
s870 shotgun, submachine gun, kovac peacekeeper bat, deployable turret.
keeping it simple, 100% the peacekeeper bat, and then either some kind of pdw/smg or pump shotgun.
the peacekeeper is essentially a truncheon
Oooooo good idea, that would make sense
GTFO cosplay without a sledge is a crime against humanity
Spear, BPSR surely🐴
only if you use the wifebeater as part of your cosplay
im actively looking at you. yes. YOU!
I'm just saying, they asked for a KSO cosplay, not a prisoner.
To me, it's a pre-apocalypse/post-apocalypse difference
In gameplay, most of our stuff is scavenged
Kovac sledgehammer skin is still a Thing tho. Besides, it is still used tactically outside of the Apocalypse. After all they are guns for hire, so they Could have used it to Breach Doors to reach the target
Ngl i Wish we Had a halligan bat skin to pair it with it
<@&408548765599793173>
ima need to invest in this
NOOOO i was boutta win so much money
I stole all the money
you don't want to see the deer threesomes captured on trailcams
Hello everyone and welcome to the GTFO Lore channel. This is a SERIOUS channel to discuss about the lore of the game. Serious speculation on what you think is going on, or when the game is released what is actually going on. Please do not use this to troll, meme, shit post or similar. Thanks.
Since this will probably come up, my hypothesis on people wondering why the enemies eject "potatoes" out of their corpses is they are most likely parasites that cause the human host to mutate into whatever the creatures are.
The fact that there isn’t a “custody” or a “you die” until everyone dies would make sense then if their goal is to spread the virus, meaning they wouldn’t want to immediately kill the prisoners as they go down into the complex.
Yeah thats sound plausible. Another nod to Aliens if it's true.
Xenomorphs like to incapacitate victims for impregnation so the creatures probably do the same.
Pretty sure the potatoes are just placeholders for gibs.
I'm not quite sure, they do constantly spew out from the same location for a short duration
Like a comical blood effect or a bad physx implementation
Also the lack of a 'custody' might be because when you are downed, you actually are just dying right there
it'd also deal with "why don't the people just revive themselves"
The complex doesn't seem to just a mining operation for minerals; In several screenshots we can see sophisticated laboratory equipment that contain organisms, along with the fact that a known objective in this game is to reacquire hydrostasis units (which I presume freezes biological material in water). My theory at the moment is that the entire reason the complex exists deep inside Chicxulub Crater is to find and extract some aspect of these creatures. It would work with work with the fact that this complex has high security, with the doors, bio-scans and ammunition boxes, plus the fact that another known player objective is to reacquire security data.
Something else I found interesting was what Simon had to say in his last answer in this reply: https://discordapp.com/channels/408196129470152705/557204214833610753/566199882331848704
In it he talks about how people left things behind as a result of an invasion, presumably the monsters. The only major issue here is that it's possible that the monsters came from outside the complex, although I doubt it. He also talks about how something in the GTFO universe has shaped the outside world; so from this we can assume, again, that whatever happened in this universe has had a noticeable impact to the world. At the very least we know that people use to live here and that there was some kind of invasion.
There are this mysterious entity know has ''the Warden'' and Simon keep referring them as ''them''. Soo the Warden is not a single person, but a group.
Could be using them as a gender neutral pronoun. Doesn't know if they are a he or a she, so uses they/them.
Warden = Complex AI?
like glados
monsters = invasion "seed" dropped on Earth 65 million years ago
I think the idea of a research site is very likely. Considering the scientific importance of the location that'd make more sense than a mining operation. Simon's also said that there will be a lot more high-tech environments deeper in the complex that we haven't seen yet.
As for the monsters, my theory is that they evolved from some kind of alien organism that came to earth with the asteroid. Either that or something like an egg. Of course, the Chicxulub theory isn't 100% confirmed, so I might be wrong on that.
While looking through some GTFO screenshots I found the words "SANTONIAN -- Mining Industry" on the side of a locker. With a little bit of research I was able to find out that Santonian is a geological timescale term referring to a time at the end of the of the Cretaceous period, which is also around the time an astroid impacted earth and caused a extinction level event that wiped out the dinosaurs.
Don't know what to think about this, definitely confirms the idea that the complex could be located in the Chicxulub Crater, as it was the location where the the extinction level event astroid impacted earth at.
Wonder which entity started the exploration and experimentation?
A multinational effort?
The US?
Private venture?
(e.g. megacorp)
or like Xcom organization?
Good find @glossy cargo !
My guess is started out as a scientific venture to study the crater and they probably hired Santonian as an outsourced contracted mining company to do the digging and they discovered the life forms and then science facilities were built to study them and then hell broke loose.
Well, they definitely have private corporations helping them out. On many screenshots I found the names of different companies (at least I assume) on different crates and boxes, along with the fact that these prisoners are being forced down into the complex -- They have no choice. While it could be something around a shady government op I assume it'll be more privatized. Although it is entirely possible that it could be an AI or something like that. There just isn't enough information for that yet.
yeah that was great observation
Thanks Runar, i'll post that screenshot in media for you guys to verify.
Also the game takes place in Mexico.
It's possible that the aliens/monsters managed to break out of the complex, and that the reason the prisoners are sent into it is to somehow stop that.
I doubt it because it's made clear you're sent in to retrieve whatever is deemed valuable to the Warden.
I also found that the word "GROHL" (at least I believe so) are on a container and a sledge hammer. Perhaps there are multiple organizations working together to achieve/acquire something? It appears that they've put a lot of work into the complex.
Must cost a hell lot to dig one so deep in the middle of the ocean?
maybe it's like borderlands where all these different tech companies are competing in the same site
Why you didn’t bring up black Mesa or aperture Science, I don’t know...
it's because i don't play baby games
Ghostly whispers echo trough the city as the night slowly approaches. What are these whispers are about, you might ask? They tell about a game called Hearing, and that a steam code for it is 0WF66-IFTXF-2865K
If you have claimed/activated the key please say "claimed" or something similar, so we and others will know that the code is taken!
Clained
why are you dropping keys?
Faye, one of our guides has provided some codes for us to share around to you lads <3
@dawn snow
Maybe pick better chats?
I mean, if you all dont want keys to free games, just ignore it. It's pretty easy.
I don’t want messages advertising free games in a “serious lore channel”
I have been ignoring them in other channels, it’s not that that’s the issue
She didnt @ you or anyone else. Get over yourself.
IT's okay Berch, we will look out to not share codes here if that's what he feels like is better
I mean this channels supposedly more for scrolling through about general tidbits for GTFO lore...
This whole server is technically for GTFO. She is also a mod. And providing free stuff. It's a win win. Just read over it. Its that's easy. Dont be so thinned skin to have something like this urk you.
And obviously people higher up are ok with the keys. So, take it up to them perhaps?
If I really cared about the codes being in this server I would have said something about it elsewhere.
I don’t, ok? It’s just the fact that they are being put here, in a lore discussion chat that annoys me. In the general chats? Fine, who cares. I personally like to sometimes have a look in the GTFO chats more for the actual game content.
wow its an all out war in here lol
Alright, let's settle down, all is gucci. If you guys don't want codes to be shared in gtfo related chatrooms we can simply not share them here and that solves the issue
On the subject of the potatoes that spew out of the monster when they're damaged, I was able to find earlier concept art in a video that depicts theses monsters shooting out these potato things. This leads me to believe that these potatoes aren't place holders, at least not for blood. It's entirely plausible that these potato looking things are the final product, as they closely match the concept art. Now, the reason i'm saying this is because of the fact that in the concept art, which is drawn on paper also has these potato looking things in it. I could understand a place holder for blood in a 3D, realistic game but paper? It just wouldn't make sense. Anyways, that's just my take on the matter.
Also, here is the logo and name of that Santonian mining corporation I was talking about earlier:
While watching gameplay footage I saw the logo everywhere; barrels, doors, signs and supply boxes.
The potatoes were never placeholders to me.
Not sure why everyone thinks that way.
If it was orbs with no textures, sure, but their design seemed deliberate. If they wanted to just do simple guts that probably would of been simpler than going through the hassle of designing these things to be used merely as a placeholder.
They could very well be a parasite or something of the sort. Maybe the body produces them as a side effect of being mutated.
They might be parasite eggs?
Yeah probably parasites or some sort of mutagen.
Well they do have it sprouting out of their body too, could very well be a form of hardened calcium for a type of makeshift organic armor
might as well make them australian potatoes so that it is palatable to @clear path LOL
maybe colour them green?
Even if they are "eggs"
and translucent with something moving inside?
RUSSET BURBANKS
If they went everywhere after say a grenade
That would be fine
But if I fill something with lead and it spontaneously erupts eggs everywhere that's just weird
😂 comical at best
Oh man take a closer look at Picture 2 posted by @glossy cargo - that dude has a serious case of hemorrhoids coming out of its ass
And Picture 1 - is that what I think it is? @clear path @glossy cargo
Maybe some kind of a cyst rupturing
Potentially some enemy similar to say a boomer but instead of a fat dude it's a thing covered in cysts
a cyst is small
And every time you shot it the cysts go everywhere
(big fuck off cysts)
Not real life ones
Tbh that would look all kinds of fucked up in a dude was covered in giant cysts
Perhaps
If they had kept the monster's faces almost exactly the same as a human face but split in half
It would be even more scary
than just a mass of a deformed looking unrecognizable thing
what's the term for it
Imagine if the cysts were actually full or parasitic larvae and when you shoot them it sprays blood, pus and parasites everywhere
The the parasites do damage over time
Potentially even needing a teammate to help remove them
In one of the interviews Simon talks specifically about how the tunnels in the complex are organic. Now i'm not too sure what could do that in a realistic sense; lava tubes or a cave system perhaps? If not, I was thinking that they could have been created by the monsters shown or that they were originally there in the astroid.
Link: https://youtu.be/awvGKlfflAQ?t=597
Something else I found quite interesting in the video is how Simon refers to The Warden; several times he talks about your captors, meaning plural. So at the very least we can assume that the entity(s) forcing you into the complex are more than two. Just another interesting piece.
We talk to Simon Viklund about 10 Chamber's debut title, GTFO. This is the first episode of a new interview series we plan to try and do either weekly or bi-...
Split heads look like they were already headshoted then reanimated... Or some messed up science experiment.
Perhaps, we're not entirely sure if they become reanimated yet, but it's a possibility. Also i'm not sure if a regular bullet would deform the face in such a way, unless it was something more powerful like a rail gun; then maybe.
the only gun that can do that is a LANCER
Lads.. I've been really curious about this.. In the GTFO Trailer, at the very end, when a tentacle thing attacks the player and he says "WHAT THE HELL IS THA-"
I believe I've heard that its an actual enemy .. but how does it work? when does it hit you? how often does it happen? is it a finisher? (when the last player dies).. what is that thing?
Ping me if you got somethin on that one, chiefs
@tranquil dome I don't believe that creature has been shown in any other video, and I doubt that it's actually in the game yet but I assume it's a special monster or mini-boss kind of deal. The regular tentacle grabber things in GTFO have a short distance than what was shown with that special one at the end, plus, they don't have the webbed features so it's definitely different than the others.
Special one:
Regular one:
totaly not the smoker from L4D
shhhhh
Yeah! Thats why I’m so bloody curious about it!
Could be similar to the Worms that come out of those holes And Like tracks u
That are like in set areas/spots and will follow
From the King kong movie like thing
it's a bunyip mate
bros i love L4D2 been playing it lately the nostalgia is there omg
that's the bunyip's tongue lol
Just a reminder let's keep this channel strictly about discussion about gtfo lore.
but what if gtof lore is L4D lore?
Well, the games are unrelated in terms of lore.
They grabbed the LFD Virus and After they Destroyed it public And with those samples they Decided they would experement and made a completely new strain?
Thats mutated Out the wazoo and They broke out and now THe facilitys ruined And zambie things everywhere
and the warden wants To collect that resarch and Use the virus to start wars and control countrys with the ultimate Bio wep
Highly unlikely, but not impossible.
@glossy cargo The pictures that you send me yesterday about the Special and Regular Tentacle,
Take a closer look at them.
Heavy:
Normal:
See what I mean?
They could Potentially be the same
But I'm guessing on a "Normal" and "Heavy" attack, for example the normal attack does 25% whilst the heavy does 60% damage to the player
The tentacle on the second image comes from that regular monster.
From their head.
The tentacle on the first image is a different enemy, which we only met in the trailer so far.
how do you know?
I saw it
mind sending a screenshot?
On the shadow enemy reveal, the shadow enemies also have these tentacles coming out form them
they attack with it
the shadow enemy is the regular, but invisibile
thats it
they also have tentacles
Yet they could have normal and heavy attacks 🤔
Talkin about that one, chief?
yes
set the video to 0.25 speed and watch it
its clearly visible
Now, I'm off.
good nite mate
Its 2PM
Anyway, I see where you're comin from, but don't exclude my theory
hypothesis?
same thing xD
You got my point ffs xD
Kinda. Still, the generic enemies have tentacles inside them that they can use to sting attack. That one huge tentacpe face thing is a seperate enemy.
Look mate I'm sorry but you can't prove it. all we're doin here is speculating
Look mate I'm sorry but you can't prove it. all we're doin here is speculating
That was to pug lol xD
yet now that I think about it
This lad right here
he looks like a bigger.. more mutated version than the grunts are, if the grunts as we know them got tentacles inside of them, this one could have a bigger more "lethal" one, being the finisher in the trailer
If I recall correctly, the heavies will be able to pick up players and run away with them. I doubt they'll have any form of tentacle attack, though.
Well, we don't know for sure haha. As for the tentacles, they are different enemies. The one in the first picture is (possibly) refered to as snatchers in game, while the second one is just an attack from the normal monsters.
Keep in mind that there are many variations for the basic grunts
Yeah and thats what I'm thinking about when I'm talkin about the big lads
fat bois = Everything from Basic grunts but more bigger and deadlier
Also, considering the character in the TGA trailer says "What the fuck is that." when the tentacle/snatcher approaches, I'd guess it's quite a rare enemy to encounter.
Yeah!
Speaking of that one, I just catched something, check this out
The textures and general form is different
Yep!
Guess we got that one settled
speaking of a new topic.. and monsters
Devs said that there wont be "boss fights" but a combination of enemies in specific environments
Since we're underground we don't really have that many... "environments" to chose from.. let me just say a limited supply of those.. and they change dynamically, and that dynamic change (one of many) has already been revealed
https://youtu.be/QxANd2XtcWQ?t=499
Notice how we hear a weird thumping sound.. as soon as the sound stops, the air gets more dense.. more foggy.. and we hear a Siren with a dramatic music coming up
my call on that one is that since we're underground, air has to be fresh, in this scenario the air filters break, the environment changes and a fight is likely to come up because of the siren (noise level)

tell me what you bois think
air filters break? the personal ones you mean?
Not air filters.. aah I'm missing the word for it
general ventilation of the whole complex
Yeah I'm talkin 'bout that the whole time
just those few seconds.. Imagine how much work that would be.. Shaders.. sound.. textures.. Dynamic music
Man... Very Impressive!
Thats so cool
But well kind of a shame i would like to vs a biug bullet sponge That has mechanics and if u don't follow them ur fucked but whatever
Wait a minute rewatching the trailers
DO the weps not have much recoil?
Some of the weapons in GTFO are created from repurposed mining equipment
so
dead space?
all stories take place in space after all
since planets are in space, amirite lads?
and I'd guess it be more akin to Dead Space 3, in that case
Yea
a lot of the information is about GTFO is what goes on inside of the complex but i think what is happening in the wold outside is more interesting
There were hints about the outside world, the possibility that it's been overrun as well. Evo talked about this.. just scroll up. A lot.
I don't think it's overrun, to me it doesn't make sense because you're sent in to retrieve things of high monetary value.
If the world was overrun and these things were important for survival it doesn't make sense to send in prisoners with little to no training to get them if stakes were high.
Also the TGS trailer says sending people in the complex happens every night without fail, so it's just a meat grinder for the Warden to see who can get the goods.
So the complex is some kind of prison colony or like detention center
It's a mining/research facility.
But I believe the entrance to the complex from the surface houses a prison.
Since they send prisoners in groups of four through a free-falling transportation vehicle.
Form the way it was described it seemed that the main character where being forced to enter the complex
Correct, they're sent in against their will.
Hmm
So the warden is only like a site manager of the mining company
Or maybe a government agent getting criminals to do the work
Most likely a group of individuals.
These individuals would have some previous tie to the complex and considerable power to get people to send Down
So the logical choices are the original owner of the mine or some kind of external organization
Yeah most likely.
And they would have other people on stand by Incase prisoners die
Pretty much yeah.
It's sorta implied in the first trailer. Every night they send prisoners down and it's usually different people everytime.
lore wise anyway
gameplay it'll be the same characters lol
There is probably more to the complex than just a mining facility and if that are so internet on sending people in to get stuff there is likely more than just what they are mining
Perhaps the enemy weren’t just there but where manufactured
That might say something about the world outside
Yeah there's definitely more to it.
It take's place around the Chicxulub crater which is where an asteroid struck, so my guess is the asteroid housed some sort of organism and the miners found it by accident.
and got became infected, then scientists were brought in to experiment which is why there's science and research facilities deep underground.
Form gameplay there where rooms that looked like labs
But I guess we will have to play the game to figure out what the connection are
It’s seems kinda strange that a mine would have so many big locked blast doors
Probably keep the creatures from reaching the surface or escaping and keeping the place a secret.
Yeah
Thinking about it it probably wouldn’t be an infectious entity because we had the teaser image that show the sleeper eggs
Most likely something we haven't seen before,.
We've only seen like 3 different types of enemies in gameplay.
And the creatures have two arms and legs so they use to be human.
The lack of corpses shown in screenshot seem to indicate that.
Yeah i guess your right
Those eggs aren’t just a pointless detail maybe those are what was being mined for
And the scientists where there before the miners
My guess is miners were there first and then scientists.
This does seem very dead space like
I’d like to think that gtfo is in like a connect universe with other overkill games
Definitely no connection.
Big rip
did the developers confirm that the voice over in the trailer was one of the playable characters?
It is. The narrator's voice is Dauda.
pick them up and drag them like the smoker and run like the jockey
List of deepest mines
Rank: "S"
Name of mine: Santonian Mining Complex
Depth: >2500 feet
Location: Yucatan, Mexico (Chixculub Crater)
Primary Resource: ALIEN POTATOES
there is lore?
NANI!?!
Wait when did we know it was in the chixicilub crater?
A long time ago. I think it's coordinates were in the TGA trailer
wonder if it's only ever going to take place in an underground mine
The game will be taken place underground.
Though you can expect different kinds of environments, not just mines.
Expansion pack: aboveground levels
@cerulean forum they said that they don’t want bullet sponges, they want the difficulty to be from other factors like enemy movement, environmental facts etc
They were making a joke my friend lol
Oops over my head lol
Even even newer dlc: dildo baseball bat
Let's stick to GTFO Lore... yay i'm no better XD
Can I get some lore for why the doors in this game can be broken so easily by a few enemies?
Cool, but you’d think the Devs would want there to be more fear ashen you see a door breaking
Like, 3-5 guys it’s alright, but 10-20 “OH NO!
Interesting
I was thinking more from the psychological horror side
Because if you shut off a door, you're gonna have to walk on for the actual stealth
@sudden gorge I would guess cus they strong as fuck but when it comes to their defences they are lacking
Stealth would be key, but also a makeshift “containment” would be cool
Well I like the idea that they break the doors slower to make it a bit more realistic cus they would be tough but yea it could reduce the catching off guard idea thatthey have
What should catch you off guard is the fear of the unknown. Make a loud noise, hear a screech off in the distance and see a copious amount doing everything to get to you
In situations like that, doors ideally COULDNT do much to holds em back
Well if the door isn't super reinforced, a horde of monster could break through easily. Considering that the monster look stronger than zombie.
*For the third myth, Adam and Jamie head out to a barn with 150 zombies in tow to see if the combined force of a horde would be held back by a barred door.

Eh, not so much. The first two times they try it, the zombies (clad in polyethelene corrugated sewer pipes to prevent a squished Savage) easily blow through the door, barely breaking stride. But the third time, Jamie reinforces the hell out of the door, screwing in multiple boards and making sure the hinges don't go. And this time they hold. Though there's a lot of creaking and cracking, the door does not break and they're confident that, even if the zombies kept at it, they would never overwhelm the fully prepped barn door which prompts a very characteristic taunt from Jamie.*
Also... video game logics. Anything is possible to not impede fun with realism.
True
Looks like some kind of spider/crab creature
i can see looks like 4 appendages
Maybe they come out of those egg looking things?
The specimen suspended in a liquid reminds me of the the facehugger specimens in Aliens.
Tfs this from?\
@pliant quail it's a facehugger?
Probably something similar to that yeah.
We're talking about the capsule in the screenshot
David made the facehugger out of thr body parts of Elizabeth Shaw
Ah
Sam that's alien lore
Looks like a grunt to me tbh
It's clearly not humanoid.
Has multiple legs too
and the tank looks too small to fit a human in it
It's the work of the rogue Complex AI
Who decided one day to download itself from limiting silicon to a hive mind wetware
Would make a nice backstory lol
what do you mean biological?
No
As far as I know there's no indication of it.
unless we see some sort of hive stage late game.
the brain
which I wouldn't be surprised since aliens is a huge inspiration for this game
Yeah true
Maybe the monster we face soo far in GTFO are merely reject of the true monster (Like the alien). Instead of leaving a dead body with chest open. The body animate via whatever reason. Yet the true monster still hide deeper into the complex.
Something 10cc will surely not spoil and let the player figure out.
could be "early phase" of the infection like the villagers in RE4 with plagas
the late phase had heads and limbs completely replaced with plaga appendages
WOuldn't it be badass if the potato gore spawned little shits you have to kill still?
MADNESS
Like bursting a spider nest
god that would be scary as shit
Having Tiny as fuck spider things with a hitbox smaller then a can in Prop hunt Just chasing u
ANd then they climb on u iof they get 2 close
and then the other players need to remove them or u need to stop doing shit for a good few seconds and use a buttom prompt to stop drop n roll or something to get rid of them
Tiny alien monster zerg that die in 1 bullet but is fucking annoying.
yess
The cancer would be real
Plus some ppl are scared of spiders/bugs so it would go towards scaring people
Reminds me of the most when a guy fell over full of spider eggs and blew up into small spiders
why don't we put that in #gtfo-game-suggestions
mist not most
Even his avatar has lumpy / bumpy head
blonde afro my friend
could that be the african guy
the character portraits?
probably wearing biohazard masks
could be a Bane-like filter haha
Alien potat
Splosh
Looks nice tbh
Kinda does
