bit over 80C
Guessing this pushes it more than games
Surely we can make it into smth that GPUS can process
gtfo moment
oh yeah that'd be way faster, but like I said I haven't learned any shading languages
and i'm not willing to go as far as to learn one for this lmao
Would it actually? I was memeing
Very true lmao
Tbf I don’t snow what makes things better for gpus or cpus
Gpus i know have more cores and such
numbers are what gpu's are good at
all I know is 16gb of RAM is NOT enough
It’s enough to get by today (for normal peopel)
and I should buy 2 16gb sodimms
No lmao
no when GTFO
wym
Isn’t everything just numbers
Have you seen the prices
yes
yeah ram prices have tripled lol
🥀
W1l ive seen 32 GB ram kits for as much as like 500 usd
And i wasnt even looking for the most expensive
200aud for 1 16gb sodimm is insane
Wait give me one second
That’s what i mean
What DDR is it?
ddr4
100 usd here
its for my laptop, I need to upgrade so I can not crash when GTFO
Close other stuff !!!!!
btw there's like 60 trillion years of unique password and I searched like 60 million in around 8 minutes, so it'd take like 5 hours to get to i32 max and astronomically long to actually go through all of them, I ain't finding a full 10 character match 😔
also this has noticeably heated up my room lmfao
when I play GTFO I only have That And Discord bc I need to talk
Vro doesn’t snow about the hidden tasks
I do snow, but I have everything disabled
and im still 15.5gb when playing
Ain’t nor way gtfo and discord taking up 16 GB 🥀
and it crashes so often
best i can do im afraid
finding the full string isn't possible on a cpu i think lol
remind me to play when this happens
Surely ChatGPT can cook it up for gpus
sure
i won't stop you from trying lmao
Well i was gonna ask cahtgpt and see what it’d make, not at my pc tho so someone’s gonna have to remind me
Or i remote home to it and tell my mom to turn it on
decision decisions
even then it'll just go until it hits i32::MAX which isn't guaranteed to have the string
it can easily find 5 or 6 character substrings, but for full string matches you're gonna need something orders of magnitudes faster
someone I'm in vc with gave it to claude to turn into gpu code lmao
apparently you don't even need to rewrite it to c++ because there's a rust crate that does that
cpu is back at 65° 😌
it did not deserve this
Just 3747377171 qol mods for gtfo and its possible
i am fuster
I agree with him
great lore right?
oh yeah now that I greatly improved the speed and range of the algorithm, I can tell you that slendi (with that exact spelling) first appears in Year 30,136,850 - gonna take a minute
Found: SLEND-IZ7WR (Year 30136850, Week 16) (matched 'SLEND-I')
YAYYY
Does FROST-YBOII appear
Or with some letters replaced with numbers
Like FR0ST-YB011
I'd need to gpu accelerate it to find that out, finding a full string match is orders of magnitude harder than finding a substring with length <=6
Ya
it's gpu accelerated now
courtesy of claude, I have no idea how OpenCL works
though now instead of it being virtually impossible to find a full string match among like 30 possibilities (with various leet speak combinations) it'd take like 10 hours on average and 20+ in worst case
well I can already tell you that it, nor any variation of it, appears in the next 60 billion years
I guess I can wait
I've searched 170 billion years with no hits 😔
considering the sun dies in 5 billion years, I don't know how high our chances of seeing it in the game are
the first occurence of "DOW" is in year 2192...
Found: YXSQ5-NDOWC at Year 2192, Week 21
this can only mean that's the release date
Good work shiru
See you all in 200 years
Release date found 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
@dull crest we (shiru but I’m taking credit too) solved the Dow ARG
You are suggesting GTFO will not survive the end of this solar system
But surely someone will one day take the entire steam catalogue to another planet
why only you are taking credit?
Let’s just say all of us here provided… uhhh mental support and as such also have solved it
Cuz I’m a selfish prick :>
Only GTFO and Dow will be taken with
How evil of you
;>
truly the 2 best video games of all time, worth being immortalised
Frfr
But then who will play them
When everybody dies
it will be the mythical 4 bot run
Where the bots finally master the game and beat it without a player even existing
neural network plays gtfo
Its called a beginner lobby in R1A1
”the irl warden plays GTFO”
Hm
Possibly
But atleast the bots wouldn’t wake up every room
I searched the next 1.436 trillion years, still no @next panther ascii codes to be found. This side-quest has been fun and kept my office warm, thank you.
...Office?
Well it generates a lot of heat and their office prolly has the best pc/gpu
I wonder how much power that took
he said about 600W while it's running iirc
and it ran for a couple hours
also for reference there's 3.6 quadrillion of passwords in total, which makes for around 70 trillion years
and we're searching for 32 possible leet speak variations of Frostyboii
What would be like the best specs for doing these types of puzzles? Got a 7900 xtx at home but don’t think vram will be the deciding factor
nick is using a threadripper and rtx 6000
Nevermind lmao
yeah lol
he got it to 400 Million years / second for one string and 140 Million years / second for 32 (all the frostyboii variations we're looking for)
if my math isn't off it would take 48 hours to search every password for one string with that and 4 hours on average to find a frostyboii variations
assuming consistent speed
not too far off
Yeah it definitly eats a ton of ram and occupies the gpu
Surprisingly, no ram pressure. One core of cpu pegged, gpu almost completely pegged. <2gb of vram usage.
CPU spent its time transferring result sets to/from the gpu and checking if something was found.
Parallelizing the search space is way more efficient when finding more variations. Cpu is the bottleneck on one search term, capping the gpu utilization around 40%.
I stopped cause I figured 100x the age of the known universe is probably far enough. By the time we get near that horizon we should have better gpus and ram prices may even have fallen by then.
ram prices falling?
Maybe once the universe grinds to a stop
Ram prices will fall once nothing will exist
Or we make every person get their memory wiped and remove all of the servers for every ai
Big Lore news @thin surge i am in fact.... still fuster...
Debatable at this point
whats a deba table???
happy new year, my fellow slaves
Happy new year frostty 🫡
How was your new years?
Unfortunate, we were gonna watch the horses but I got too sick to drive
happy new year
In a way, the best way to spend it
I made the silly decision to sit until midnight to watch fireworks
All the fireworks were behind trees so i saw nothing
Truly peak end of the year experience
Climb the tree
Good idea, I’ll consider it next year
@eternal talon Do we have a list of all non-KSO Santonian Employees available with their job titles if known?
not that I have
but i figure you could probably assemble quite a few names from the combined total of logs
it'd just take... a while
i figure the most annoying of that would be cross referencing logs that mention the same characters with new information
alright, I can get to that
We have 1 log that lists some of the main mentioned characters with their job title but outside that you'd likely have to scavenge through the other logs by dimension to pick up their titles and designations. I could look here in a bit at which log specifically has the list of names (not 000)
yeah, I interpret 000 log as KSOs for the most part (since it clearly mentions at least a handful of known KSOs)
Ill lyk when I get home and can look at my spreadsheet. I believe it has several of the Insight, SMC, and KDS employees on it
how long would it take to finish reading the longest log in r2b2
Like 5 mins
You don’t need to read the entire thing though
(That’s whilst spamming a key)
Unless you really want to (logs achievement only needs you to ”open” the log)
Yeah like 5 mins or smth
If you actually want to read it, its incredibly repetitive and boring but viewing all of it at the terminal load speed takes about 5 mins of holding enter
what is there to read
just names and random locations
they probably just had a it randomly add names ids locations
no way someone would type allofthat
addin to that question in questions with questions
Omg Slendo
cuz chafi said some true stuff in c2, "do you think they would want copies of themselves in the new universe? would you? they ar you! what would u do?"
if alt was gonna betray og, og just did it firstt
hih!!!!
Names, universe/Membrane IDs. Pretty much nothing terribly important since nearly every important dimension isn't mentioned in them
We do know that the Data Cubes contain Cretasium though, right? Due to R8B2
On the wiii it says the crystals are alsi cretasium 77a tho
i'd need a sauce for that
because i don't believe it personally
https://gtfo.wiki.gg/wiki/Destination it says "Throughout Destination, various black crystals can be seen near cliff faces. This material is Cretasium 77a, the same material used in the Matter Wave Projector and Data Cubes. The backside of Flyers and Big Flyers are also crystalline with the same structure, implying they eat these crystals to explain their teleporting capabilities."
Destination (also referred to as ??? in-game) is a desert environment located outside of The Complex, that first appears in ALT://Rundown 6.0, and originally in Rundown 6.0. Since there is canonical relevance to both of these timelines, references to both will be used with OG and ALT labels.
As the official name of this environment is unknown, i...
well then the wiki is wrong
I can update it in a bit
I'm not saying it's wrong
I'm saying I don't think that is true but I don't know and I'd love to see in the logs as to why the wiki says that
Maybe it's true. Idk
We dont get any description on the crystals that appear besides that brief one where it talks about them merging with KDS tech shortly after teleportation experiments start
well it references 2 logs that dont say anything about the projector
Datacubes are what it means, I see
well one log does show some scientist suggesting the crystal could be caterium
cretasium
I think it’s cobblestone
Now we're getting somewhere
It was my thought (understanding) that cretasium was a metal-like material that the ship was mostly made out of
Like how we build buildings out of steel and concrete
That it, as an alloy, simply was mistaken for iridium
And that cretasium-77a didn't really have significance beyond that
- just it being a generically super good structural material that the collectors used to make stuff out of
Not that it had any direct/important significance to the data cubes, mwp, artifacts, etc
Well i read that the data cubes contained cretasium "platters"
I sure hope not considering human trafficking is illegal :3
'selling me on the idea'
it's an expression
if anyone is selling anyone it's the american government selling inmates to kovac
which checks out lol
Very true
no
a platter by definition is a plate
theres multiple definitions
schaeffer is hinting that its like the discs on a hard drive
We need to erase everything off the datacubes before we write new navigation components to them. Project Insight research indicates datacubes contain magnetized Cretasium platters and are susceptible to intense magnetic fields. That means a degausser should wipe all data on them. I've had the Warden drop you into a Material Refinery sector. You should know there are reports of "membranous deformities" in this sector. I don't know what you'll find down there, but only refinery terminals have a degausser option, so here you are. I also don't know what will happen when you subject those datacubes to a high frequency AC magnetic field, so... good luck.
hmm
one sentence is far from specific
hes either saying wipe the data on the datacubes or frrom the platters. but he is saying "them" after mentioning the platters so
and i still don't see what it has to do with the crystals
the crystals power the MWP, not the data cubes
the data cubes are used to make the mwp not do random jumps
well i was responding to this about the data cubes
i'm not too sure how hard drives work, let alone alien hard drives
but if it's like burning data into a disk
the disk just could be made of cretasium
all i found about creatasium being linked to the crystals is a log about some scientist called Marcus saying "I don't know much about geology, but the rock looks crystalline to me. Perhaps this is the Cretasium substance I have heard about? but thats not a direct confirmaiton
We’re looking into the possibility that the behavior of the artifacts may be inhibited or regulated in some manner by Cretasium 77A. It has been found in large quantities throughout the fossil and it’s the only material that does not disappear when introduced to the… hello? Hello? Dr. Hammerstein? Uhm… where was I? Uh… pause recording.
**The silicon resin does temporarily block the jump defect, so that has helped. It decays pretty quickly as the Cretasium eats through it, but it means we actually can touch the artifacts at least. **
**Sector analysis complete. The mass extends 2,215 (+/- 372m) meters from apex to nadir. Width estimate is 1,247 meters (+/- 208m). As suspected, it is largely made up of the newly discovered Cretasium 77a material, and surrounded by a thin membrane of iridium. Further analysis is required to determine if the material composition mirrors the artifacts. The data suggests the composition of the "egg" is not identical to the artifacts, but shares properties. This suggests a similar origin.
Core composition analysis follows:
cretasium 77a: 38.60%
oxygen: 27.34%
silicon: 12.12%
aluminum: 5.13%
iridium: 3.32%
sodium: 3.26%
calcium: 2.57%
potassium: 2.10%
magnesium: 2.03%
titanium: 1.14%
hydrogen: 0.93%
phosphorous: 0.77%
carbon: 0.54%
+trace strontium, barium, manganese, fluorine, sulfur, zirconium, tungsten, chlorine, copper, nickel, nitrogen, zinc.**
nearly 40% of the entire ship is cretasium
it's gotta be structural
there is like, no other way imo
like we use steel, iron, concrete, wood, etc
just more advanced
aluminum
etc
well theyre aliens
well our hard drive platters can be made out of aluminum
yeah, that's not solid enough as a straight source. that's just an in-character guess
it's interesting that he calls out that it's crystalline though
since the corridors of the fossil are described to look like lava tubes
(ala a volcano)
which... i don't think obsidian would be crystalline
it's more like glass, no?
yes
Additional: Several large, clear tubes can be seen on the true color gamma print, starting at the approximate center point of the mass. They do not appear to be lava tubes; the composition materials are too dense to be affected by any heat generated by volcanic activity.
**These locations are collectively known as "the Inner". This area has a separate classification due to evidence of geologic compacting and sedimentary settling. This implies an ancient impact or explosion. You may read my report titled [redacted] for further information on those findings.
Having pinpointed the location of several chambers in zones [redacted] and [redacted], I have approved a comprehensive mapping and exploration of those zones. I am certain these chambers are not the result of natural geologic processes. An initial report, by one of my staff (not me) suggested they were lava tunnels. I have rejected that conclusion as there is no evidence of volcanic activity in this area and the chambers are too symmetrical to have been formed by any natural mechanism.
I believe we are looking at evidence of [redacted]. I am confident that the chambers were been constructed by [redacted], though, as yet we do not know how or why they were made. Certainly, a great mystery for me to tackle.
I have ordered any objects found within the Inner to remain in situ for the time being. It is my responsibility to establish protocols for all future explorations, so we will start as if we were freshmen archeologists, shifting soil for the first time. We will organize and classify first, then once more is known we shall consider excavation, removal, and transportation. As I believe any artifacts we find will be [redacted], we will need to stay alert to the possibility of [redacted].
**
the only thing really similar is they are both shiny-black materials
though the crystals on destination go near-full transparent in sunlight
look at this
I've actually never been to destination myself so I can't say for sure, but couldn't these be highly reflective instead of transparent?
based on this image
How have you never been to destination!?
trouble getting friends to play lol
Also it depends. I have more pics that I'll post when I get home.
Just solo r6b1. If I can do it, so can you
playing with people here got me through R1 and a larger part of R2
great move on my part to join
they are lightly transparent with surface light still bouncing off a little bit

For all those that were paying attention to the major lore news;
Sad to announce that I am infact.... not @thin surge
This is news to me, Ill have to add it to the vid
next round of news: white is not black
the signs were there all along for those who paid mind
@eternal talon Is this log from R7B2 incorrect?
alias:int_server.1024_ciph.tier5.high_core/APirosA134.flagged
From: Anders Johanson A029
To: Andre Piros A134
Date: August 08th 2053
Subject:
Unless you get approached about this matter, no further action is needed on your part.
Anders.

D-Lock Block Cipher
alias:int_server.1024_ciph.tier5.med_core/AJohansonA029.flagged
Mr Johanson,
On August 8th at 07:48 a Santonian employee was discovered in the hydrostasis unit storage area
Mr. Piros has advised me of your request for more Kovac involvement in future expeditions. The current approach to operative debriefing, situation training, and resource management will not scale well for your proposed usage. However, we do have a command system that will fit your needs.
BIOCOM. Managing operations through BIOCOM would ensure full coverage for all future expeditions, coordinate additional stationed security posts throughout the facility, and provide round the clock protection or surveillance for all POIs within the theatre of operation (currently Garganta itself and the red zone on the peninsula). BIOCOM is a DI that will take control of resource tracking, supply management, objective specific training, operative briefing, and rapid response deployment.
That's the pitch done. The long and the short of it is BIOCOM handles things better than any human can. It doesn't sleep, doesn't make bad decisions based on compassion, and unlike human COs, has a 100% success rate for all fifteen of its deployments (if you need to know more, we'll have to do some paperwork). It still requires human oversight to handle some of the more sensitive ethical considerations, but even that can be pre-programmed to fit your ruleset.
It would take a few months to transition over. We should start now.
Anders Johanson```
From Johanson to Andre Piros, so the email should read the first line as "Mr. Piros,"
Or, the end of the email shouldn't have the Anders Johanson, one of the two
it reads a bit weird to me
i can't say if it's from that specific expedition, as there are simply too many to remember.
it looks like a forwarded message
like it was written, sent out, then attatched to a note and sent to piros.
oh
i see the problem now.
yeah, that looks like a typo.
though i'm uncertain who the intended original recepient would be, if it was indeed piros or otherwise
Not sure if this is really a lore question but does r8e2 finish in a different part of KDS deep than r8e1? R8e1 looks identical to r5e1 but r8e2 looks quite different and I can’t quite figure out why
I say identical, excluding the huge crater
R8E1 is on the same place as R5E1 yes, u enter through a side hole in the wall
R8E1 is if im not mistaken above both tho
thats why the cylinders the same but diff
or maybs its below i dont remember
The door that’s next to where you grab the cubes in e2 is the door the e1 team comes through
oh is it
wait no it cant
r5e1 doesnt line up nor r8e1 since its the same layout
r8e2s is vastly different
R8E2 is directly underneath both R8E1 and R5E1 with the latter two sharing the same 2nd to last zone and all three missions sharing the exact same final zone
In R5E1, you cant go downstairs because the railings aren't raised/lowered
In R8E1, you cant go downstairs because the downstairs is destroyed and you arrive in there directly after the OG Team escapes
and where the whole other room in r5e1
it's embedded in the wall
M
the power has been long since turned off in KDS Deep and the doors are all closed
you have no reason to enter the portal room canonically at that point but it's there
prisoners dont have the MWP yet anyways
do you need me to drop in
I am dropping in
ok maybe
yes pls
i dont see it
ando was a cutie and took a screenshot of my r5e1 run but its high ksks
ON THE WALL
i cannot tell what the 2nd image is ngl
i csannot distinguish any angle
I am on the top level looking down at the elevator for this maintenance platform
remember that R5E1 and R8E1 take place at the exact same mission drop elevation of 984m
and R8E2 is just a little bit beneath that at 1004m
all three missions end up in Z545 and through correlation of being able to see and stand in the destroyed portal room in R8E1, you can therefore come to a definitive conclusion that this is the exact same depth of KDS Deep's massive canonical verticality
it is a very cool way of demonstrating how the complex is connected on a much larger scale
different layers. KDS-Deep is fucking huuuuuge
**The board at Santonian have decided that the offer is acceptable.
Santonian will allocate a further 30,000 sqm of space for KDS Deep. This is in addition to the existing area you have allocated for Legion storage and the Biocom installation.**
- DGV-788-OMG
outside of r5e1, we've only seen/been to a tiny portion of it. though i can't say for certain because it extends up/down into the fog, there are likely several of these vaults in DEEP alone.
i'm not sure if r8e1 shows the same chamber as r5e1
i think it's supposed to, level generation not withstanding, but i can't say for certain
and r5e1 doesn't have the warp gate and stuff
so a minimum of two vaults.
(r5e1 and r8e2)
are we sure about that? obviously the tile wouldn't exist because it wasn't modeled by 10cc until r6, but was there a door there and stairs that perfectly line up?
idk... it's a bit murky. you never go into the portal room in r8e1 iirc.
so you can only ever see r5e1's room and r8e2's.
r8e1 ends in a giant pit full of rubble with a broken freight lift that has come crashing down from the ceiling.
it's also not perfectly ahead like you would expect... the pit is... offset?
this is just judging from my pictures though, i havn't played in a long time.
add all of this with the matter wave collapse, it's a PITA to tell what is what for sure
Makes sense. I guess I assumed that r5e1 and r8e1 were the same considering the similarities (catwalk) and the rooms leading up to zone 545, or at least that’s what the devs intended
Unit B-7 being the other canonical name for KDS Deep
i should mention for clarity, that there are also smaller localized vaults outside of DEEP, as seen in r7a1.
all in all, garganta has storage for 32,000 ksos.
24k in deep, and 8k outside it.
Dayum
whether it actually has 32,000 ksos... is unlikely.
a large majority would have most likely died during the last few years of human resistance in garganta
true, but in the context of that log (dealing with generators and power supply) and the fact that it was built into garganta later and wasn't a part of the original plans, it's probably simply a designation for that sector and it all runs on the same grid/generator.
...which makes me question the 'b' in b-7.
r5e1 isn't anywhere close to a b-tier expedition in elevation.
the elevations for tiers in R5 is pretty wack, just look at the elevation for R5A3
unless garganta is structured something like this, i guess
add or subtract letters, add or subtract floors.
from this screenshot, once you get past the crashed HSU elevator that we can recognize from R5E1's extraction tile, that's the end of the cylindrical column we typically see, and beyond that, the big central pit, is where the translocation chamber would be slated to be alongside where the door would be and maintenance bridge
the OG Team takes all that with them
and thankfully this part is clearly visible
hard for me to get pics inside jungle without triggering the end credits
yeah that cable structure is... different
it's pretty much all gm_flatgrass terrain in the distance.
no substance, just geometry
like destination, sadly
just diff textures
strange. no clue why the hole is shifted 20 foot to the left.
that part I am not wholly sure on either
because it isn't just the explosion--it was a hole already
yeah
part of knowing the lore as much as I do now makes me kind of dislike that R8E1 is called Valiant even though it is a fine name
because this is not Valiant Chamber
no lmao
Kovac was specifically denied access
still, i wish we got to see the ship.
Valiant would be perfect for an expedition to Valiant Chamber
get bent automod
it's gotten me a couple times too
whenever i copy paste from logs, i put it in bold
that is straight lore being blocked lol
Does Project Insight have any notable facilities with a rough equivalent to KDS Deep
because as far as I know it's just the Translocation Chambers as their primary
you know, i actually have no idea...
also 'translocation chamber' simply means the room a teleporter is in.
etc
as to their labs, we know they exist, because they lost equipment,
but i don't think we ever got a meaure of scale
let alone where hammerstein, stokes, durant were working
back during ogr6 i had the impression that that was what r6c1 was,
because of the intercom audio tapes,
but in hindsight that doesn't make much sense given the tileset.
yeah, they are usually tied to Tech environments with the exception of R7C2 and R8E2 which are Mining environments
my question is what are datacubes doing in Floodways, that seems like an awful place to store them canonically
something like R8B1 feels much more appropriate
i agree, but then again we found the mwp just on a random shelf in storage in a r7 secondary.
like it's some scp safe-class object
only way to explain that (especially since R7C2 has power near completely turned off and bulkheads all sealed) is that it warped there as mentioned in the stokes log
that they can warp when touched
well that's the issue...
in pretty much all instances when they've been touched, r6a1, r6c1, r6d4, etc, they follow the standard rules; teleporting to a different dimension as well as location
at least in the case of r6d4 it is another universe's garganta, but still
oh hey I actually didn't catch this before
Stokes log #1 from R6C1
[Hear]say on. This is Dr. Rebecca Stokes. I’ve just arrived from Houston and have joined Project Insight as the new Analysis Overseer. I’m going to be working my way through the Hammerstein Collection, item by item over the next few weeks. Okay, let’s start with artifact 7 of the collection, the Matter Wave Projector. “The team have coated the artifact with a silicone resin to prevent further accidents.
yep, clearly though by the time of gameplay the circumstances have changed.
'further accidents' likely alludes to the lost cowerkers and lab section.
Hearsay on. This is Dr. Stokes. I uhh… I have some thoughts on artifacts 13, 14 and 17. I’m referring to these items as “The Data Blocks”, my theory is that the Blocks hold digital data of some description. We haven’t found a way to access this data yet, but I have James working on an interface. The Blocks share design aesthetics with the Matter Wave Projector. As far as I can tell they are constructed of similar materials… Dr. Hammerstein disagrees, but he always does so… useless. I’m confident the Blocks are supposed to attach to the Matter Wave Projector, unfortunately the workers who discovered these artifacts also disappeared. The fact they can’t be found anywhere in Garganta and that BIOCOM literally has no trace of their BioSigs anywhere, is remarkable. I’m trying not to speculate too much but they went “somewhere”!
'well enough alone' is pretty much the motto of gtfo
so many mistakes and reckless/selfish actions.
Hearsay on. So, I figured out a way to; eh not me, I mean one of my team. Nolan was it? Uhm, Nolan figured out a test we could run on the artifacts that might help us understand; I CAN HEAR YOU OUT THERE! I TOLD YOU I DON’T WANNA BE DISTURBED! HELLO?! [Sigh] We initiated a jump with the Matter Wave Projector but with the different configurations of the Data Blocks; they are navigation blocks. I don’t know how we can figure out where they go to without actually going there ourselves, but at least we know. What else? **The silicon resin does temporarily block the jump defect, so that has helped. It decays pretty quickly as the Cretasium eats through it, but it means we actually can touch the artifacts at least. **
so by the time we get it the silicone has likely worn off
#i just touched a weird thing i found in the tunnels and now i'm in dune. pls help
i mean hey, this also helps prove crystals =/= cretasium
as the crystals are inside the mwp, not the shell
then again, smc built the shell around whatever the device originally was...
silicone resin is clear/cloudy, almost like glass in appearance unless dyed
i'd suggest it being corrosive, but that wouldn't make sense for a structural material that makes up...
cretasium 77a: 38.60% of the ship.
i know some alloys like brass (copper) are antimicrobial
but that is a bit different
given that is such a substantial part of the ship, and Collectors traverse across membranes doing their collecting thing, it definitely isn't unreasonable to assume Cretasium is across every Membrane that Collectors have been to
additionally, in R8E2, you do see those very crystals all of a sudden even though they are NOT in KDS Deep
i mean, that's one argument
the other argument is that they load the fuck up, floor to ceiling, with it between voyages like submariners do with food and supplies
i like this back and forth. it's good to talk lore occasionally.
the collectors did have these coordinates saved,
maybe it isn't that rare, but just uncommon?
i mean earth doesn't have it, so it isn't every world
and it'd be weird if the same mineral with the same bizzare properties appeared again and again with frequency
like...
coal, for instance, is very fucking rare in the universe, but super common on earth
any planet with plantlife would likely end up with coal sooner or later, but it's that plant life that's the biggest hurdle that makes it rare
Yeah
so it could be all of the planets they had saved had the material so they knew where to go to stock up
the only time we go to other earths are when the data cubes are corrupted
ie; wrong data
idk.
The most curious thing about these crystals to me is that they are on the Flyer/Big Flyer’s backs
honestly, i don't find it too confusing.
they can teleport locally.
they probably just have some biological means to do what the collectors use them to do technologically
Yeah, they do demonstrate that as early as R6B1
A sort of rift appears and the Flyers come through
this is the direction I was thinking as well
obv, they would have taken over the multiverse in the some 5.5 billion or so years (i forget the number translation)
if they could teleport between worldlines
Not only does it appear they can do so, but they FOLLOWED us after the return matter wave jump and they just keep pouring in
we left the mwp in the machine
r6...c3? we served as a distraction so (presumably) another team could go get the mwp for us to use it in r6d1
...so they'd have an easier time collecting it.
just floaters instead of, the horde we deal with
“damn it team we left the interdimensional door open”
that'd've been cool as a sort of 'bonus mission'
playing the other side of r6c3.
an 'oops all floaters'
aren't there two missions where we are a distractionary force?
R5B4
what's that one for? do we know/can we guess?
@rocky wraith
For R5B4, I can see this being for two main reasons: diverting enemies exactly like R6C3 is for another team, or diverting the enemies from another sector we visit
i assume it has to do something with this. Prolly Artifacts solved in something, or even related to the birthers?
counterpoint to 2: if we are diverting them to kill them, why not just kill them there?
R5C2 Overload is confirmed to be for unlocking doors for another team
very true
something like this for the purposes here sounds like trying to determine water/solution quality for another purpose
It’s specifically referring to the GLP-1’s you get in that same mission
Alternatively there is also Thermal desorption spectroscopy, but i am not sure why would warden need to do that
allo
yo
for my best guess(I havent looked at the story in a while), this was when we were getting a bunch of reactants and DNA samples right for the clone?
when i search up tds i get something else 🇺🇸
yes, we are gathering DNA Samples and lots of GLP-1's at this point
If its for helping make the clone, then accurate ppm measurements of samples after years of degradation is necessary because it allows us to see how many plasmids are in the samples so it can not completely screw up the creation of the clone
somethiong along those lines, essentially checking the integrity of the ingredients we have gathered at that point
Much of what is in garganta is not in great state. Making sure your solutions are dissolving correctly helps
especially since I know GLP-1's usually need to be refrigerated and we don't actually get them from fridges, they are just in lockers and boxes
(Note: there are such fridges in Labs)
we do divert aggresive biomasses if they are too strong, like r4d2
so maybe this was moreso to bring em little by little
yush. in-lore we can imagine that the GLP-1 is preserved appropriately with a selection of chaperone proteins in an inert solution
I think it was diverting so another team can sort out electrical issues
while we can kill all thats there, if more are on their way, theyd be after us, not the team checking issues
idk, if it truly were to divert power, warden wouldnt just lock us in and wait 30 minutes
well thay was option 1
of the convo
i was arguing for option 2
not diverting power. diverting aggressive masses of enemies
i see what you mean now, misread this line
Remember that the masses of enemies are technically infinite. Which is why they cant just be outright killed for an area
they can only be diverted
like the whole, overlapping gargantas because of mwp
I mean even aside this, Cocoons are capable of generating absurd amounts of biomass incredibly quickly
they are shown to be able to respawn every enemy except Flyers and Nightmares
yup, but not all areas have cocoons
and neither do they retain their aggression
I really, really wish we had more details on Cocoons lorewise
Except for R5B3 Secondary it's all dormant stuff yeah
mood. there's a lot that is just up to me to interprit for the chat
The sheer concept of Cocoons existence is mind boggling from a lore perspective
they can respawn Moms, pMoms, and Tanks just as fast as anything small
(this is moreso a gameplay mechanic but still)
might work more as a stronger pull for enemies across multiple dimensions to travel through dormantly
that they are able to detect when stuff has been removed from beneath them and respawn them usually under 40 seconds when not in proximity
because they won't do anything if you never kill
yup
I Wish they stayed Close to the Initial concept of a deep asleep sleeper in a mystery Box Cocoon
wdym
We still have the datablocks in the Game for them being enemies you can Deal damage to
Unlike the spitters
Its unfinished tho, trying to damage them will Just Bork the game
They are also Standing upright, Not Just hanging from the ceiling
Alternatively they maybe Could have been Like a stationary mother, but idk man
your taskbar is atrocious
it's hard to believe gtfo is almost 7 years old now
:O
I started behind u half a year
Also hii frostty
have you still not done all the levels
If the answer to the previous question is no, lmk, can get you the rest with the goon cave lol
of r4 and r5? no lol
i haven't played gtfo in the better part of a year
i jut check the lore channel every day and talk here with the community.
what the fuck does that mean?
Me, and The Goon Cave, will help you clear at some point then
nah, i don't really have any interest in finishing all the content
the lore has always interested me far more than the gameplay
I mean R4 and 5 are some of the least fun levels in the game.
you must remember, what frostty says is true and they spent many a hour racing friends doorbuggung levels to reach lore logs
r4b3 gotta be the most boring level
no r4c2
c2 at least has a fun ov and sec
3-4 surges back to back 😭
in infectious fog for 2-3 of them
the big gaming :]
GUYS ITS AN ELEVATOR
OFC ITS AN ELEVATOR WDYM ROOM WITH NOTHING
i had been told so many times it hhad "nothihng and it was empty"
ITS AN ELEVATOR
IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE OFC U WOULD WANT 2 OF THEM ON THERE
So what if u look up the hole
oh that one is just a light tho
God said let there be light
also, on a completely unrelated note, Dauda was an absolutely horrible person!
idk about the rest, hackett probably just needed a good therapist...
but dauda deserves the hell he ended up in.
Interviewer
Well it's common for veterans to suffer post-traumatic stress when they return from combat. Looking at your file, you have seen a lot of action. Perhaps you need a break.
Hackett
Oh no, it's not that. It's that I don't care. It just... doesn't affect me anymore. Like... Look, last posting, Kovac sent me up to Delbaran, hm? Little Kurdish village in western Iran? Well, used to be Iran y'know. So I was told I had to keep the villagers in check, right? And these poor bastards were terrified that the Republic Forces or what have you were going to take over the village and kill every last one of them, so I was told to keep them there until an envoy could evac, right? The thing is, I was also told I couldn't let them leave. Now, they had to stay in the village, so we knew where everyone was. But these people were shittin' bricks. So, some of them took it upon themselves to run.
Interviewer
So you were upset when you failed your mission?
Hackett
I didn't say I failed. I shot 'em. Ended up killing about 20 of them. Maybe more in fact, when we think about it. The thing is, I just... don't give a fuck, y'know? And that's not right, is it? I think I might be, like y'know, broken or somethin'.
i don't recall any of our four being stated as having participated in the burning of the red cross workers and infected before garganta was constructed in ixil.
Wasn’t it the earth quake and Red Cross were helping out and someone torched them?
**Gustavo,
Thanks for dealing with the Red Cross. They have been removed from the area
and we can get back to business. One thing - they didn’t get to Chicxulub,
and we have. Looks like your evac teams didn’t even touch this place. What do
you want us to do with the bodies? There’s a lot of them. Not sure what
killed them but our med team assures me it’s not toxins.
Let me know. We can burn them if you want.
Andrew.**
**Burn them.
G.**
yes.
the same fault line / earth quake / event / thing that caused the mayan outbreak in the 16th century
the merida fault line iirc
unless it's been clarified in more recent rundowns and i'm not remembering, i'm not sure.
I remember Hackett being the only real half okayish person cuz we don’t snow if he got framed or if he actually blackmailed or whatever
from alt:
**Gustavo,
Thanks for dealing with the Red Cross. They have been removed from the area. Looks like your evac teams didn’t make it as far as Chicxulub. There are a lot of bodies still here. What do you want us to do with them? We can just burn them if you don't want to deal with it.
By the way, our med team assures me they did not die from toxins. Did you use a virus or something?
Andrew.**
**
You may burn the bodies.
The government would never knowingly expose our citizens to any toxins, viruses, or other harmful substances. They likely died from causes related to the earthquake. Please be more careful with your accusations.
G.**
from alt SoT:
Host
We? You work for Dreyfus?
Caller
No. I mean, yes. I worked for SMC but I’m out, man. I had to go. They’re… they’re burning bodies down there…
Host
Burning bodies, what do you mean?
Caller
They got these explorations, right? They’re digging into something down near Chicxulub--
Host
Chicxulub, that’s the town they took over, right?
Caller
Yeah, well it’s a town and that big crater, right? Down in the Yucatan--
Host
Right, we’ve talked about that on air--
Caller
Yeah well, they’re poking around down there and finding all kinds of weird stuff. People going crazy and coming back all mangled and--
Host
Mangled? What does that mean?
Caller
Like mangled, mutilated. Bones bent and broken, skin changing into I don’t know what… that’s why they’re burning the bodies, to get rid of the evidence.
Host
What happened to them?
Caller
I don’t know. We thought… my colleagues thought maybe they found something. You know they’re mining for iridium, right?
Host
Right, but does iridium exposure do that to a body? We don’t know exactly--
Caller
No man, it's not the iridium! That’s what I’m saying! They found something down there!
the person with blackmail on dreyfus was Bishop
😭me when i don’t snow lore
Anyways
Ye bishop only one that I remember was like half decent as a human
Woods shot up an army base in the name of god and kovac got him from a penitentiary.
dauda worked for insight and conducted human experimentation with nam-v and parasitidae garganta to determine its limits.
hackett... had mental problems
woods canonically has the mandate of heaven*, which is funny.
Woods
You cannot kill me. It is not in his plan.
Interviewer
We’re going to send you somewhere to get some help.
Woods
I know.
Interviewer
It’s a new program, designed for people just like you, Woods.
Woods
I know. I knew before you did. I am going where he needs me. I will be ready. When the plague comes, I shall be rescued from the lion's mouth, and he will lead us from the darkness. For though there may be many of me, he is one.
Interviewer
Well, we’ll see won’t we?
Woods
I will see. You will die.
Og or alt?
alt.
Alt was the one that escaped right?
no.
For though there may be many of me, he is one.
even in OG, his belief was strong, albeit hidden better.
Lowkey what woods is talking about sort of sounds like his god is OG woods
I wish I could wipe GTFO from my memory so I could replay it
play outer wilds.
Well currently I wanna see if reanimal is doable solo
See schaeffer’s bucket again for the first time
reanimal!!! 🔥
I mean he does admit that he is not well, so that’s a good start
Played through twice with all achievements, its very doable solo
Good game, few small bugs that mostly were patched alr.
Ye half watched spiff play thru it and seemed like only one bug
There's 1 big softlock still in the game but unless youre speeding, you shouldn't encounter it
Its a time. 5 or so hours 1st time through
Doesn’t seem that bad
how be ye video comin'?
behind another large project thats in the works atm.
@eternal talon I think R1 and R2 take place in 2063, just like R3
The "Dots and Dashes" is obtained in R1D1, and is confirmed to be Schaeffer (in the vents above, I presume?)
We know Schaeffer’s quad was killed and he defected in 2063

And that all happened in April 2063
that was my assumption with how R3 and R4 play out that they're very close together in the timeline. R5 is harder to place,
Yeah the later ones are harder to confirm but also given Schaeffer has untethered himself from The Warden/BIOCOM entirely, I don’t see him waiting more than a few months before he enacts his plan (R7/R8) while he’s figuring out stuff in his hideout in OGR6CX/ALTR6BX
especially since from the scenery, it's clear Sleepers have tried to get into his hideout/fallen asleep on top of it and he had to kill them, he is just simply not going to survive for years on end
Also on this note, a couple things about Schaeffer's hideout:
-His bed is an Operation Bed ripped straight out of Labs, it's identical both mattress and blanket
-The food cans in his hideout are the only place we see definitive food canisters in the game. I looked deep into the logs and there is one mention of an Agra Foods which is owned by Dreyfus Industries, no logo on the cans themselves though other than the orange/brown stripes on the side
-The sheets of paper are just gibberish unfortunately except the ones that can be clearly read in-game
i figured all main rundowns would be ~the same year
r3 was simply the only one we had a specific date for / could prove
Yeah I'm thinking the same the more I read
also... BED?
In R6B1, there's another 2063 date from a log talking about unauthorized access from June 2063
a) i dont remember that, b) how the hell did he drag it all the way down there?
yeah pulling it up now in Unity just to show it's identical
here they are as seen in-game
he found a clean mattress and clean bedsheets from one of these OR tables and took 'em
do u think he wore those clothes
considering they are at the foot of his bed I would bet probably
Took me a second because the Schaeffer version spells his name as "Scaffer"
affeh
I assumed between a year and 2 just because of unknown time between missions (atleast in the OG timeline)
I'm guessing this is relating to the last log in the game in R8E2, the one in the Kraken zone
about the incubation period being up to 12 months
also I wanted to mention; I don't remember it being mentioned anywhere in the logs about how humans mutated and what their characteristics are, ||(I think I only remember there being a log about chargers or something but that's it)|| so I would appreciate if you could point me to that 'cuz I'd actually be interested in reading up on it ||(or refreshing my memory incase I just forgot)||
also I think it's funny that this lore video I'm watching about GTFO just assumes it's a fungus when one of the literal first logs in the game mentions it's a virus and a parasite lul
its a rundown 3 log, think a2 or a1, describes strikers shooters scout and chargers
[[ALT://Rundown 3.0 Logs]]
it is kinda vague or the scientific names kinda make it hard to tell which ones it's talking about
but thanks
gallus reptus and gallus jaculus are probably strikers and shooters respectively, and then gallus capreolatus and gallus horridus are definitely scouts and chargers, respectively
Do Not rely on YT or reddit for gtfo's lore
yeah lol
kinda figured that much
it boggles down to "this is my headcanon"
roanoke's video has been wrong since the day it was posted, and he's gone out of his way to delete comments correcting him.
its why i'm no longer subscribed, despite loving his previous videos on movies
its dishonesty, plain and simple.
the 'bad ending' of gtfo, as my meme eluded to, is the fact that we are all infected with nam-v
we've doomed the jungle universe, and the last of humanity, just by going there
in our selfish (and futile) attempt at survival, we've caused extinction
@eternal talon btw corrected wiki for accuracy last night based on discussion in here
i know the wiki always has had a lot of little errors/inconsistencies, but again, don't take everything i say as fact. i'm not infallible. i just happen to have been around here the longest and memorized most things.
the logs, as frustratingly unconcise as they are, are all we have at the end of the day - and all the ambiguity they bring.
we shouldnt take one particular interpretation as fact imo
mine, or otherwise
I didn’t get through all of it, it’s still got a lot of inconsistencies or thought trails
but we should mention them
Just a significant chunk
yeahhhhh
A good example is the ~680 years thing and potentially multiple Destination Membranes
its a mess.
there is no one good way to manage it
just point out connections and observations/drawn conclusions, but dont pick a side without... i'd say almost certain proof, given logs
like i like the 'collectors' page
What I’m doing is presenting the ambiguities by sticking to facts, and then fostering the thought provoking nature it provides. Regarding the ~680 years matter:
-Stokes mentions napkin math with the 1:85 timescale difference and doesn’t even know if it’s definitively correct. We should similarly question it.
-Possible that the singularity of membranes in R8 messes with the timescale. We don’t know
-Possible that different Destination Membranes exist with different timescale factors. We don’t know
With that time gap though we could also toss it up to R8 timeline funk, especially with how the MWP is sposed to work through both locations and time. (R8B1 being a prime example). (Also very likely its just a number tossed out to show how absolutely unrecoverable EF-01 was for Insight
Glad we both think that. OG EF-01 was unrecoverable
I like @eternal talon 's Bishop theory so gotta have the ALT be semi recoverable lol
yeah I kinda got that vibe from him when he compared his theory to another where he said Doomguy was the Doom Slayer and anyone that opposed him he presented with a nerdy ass voice
like anyone that disagrees with him is immediately wrong
even when you got clear evidence of the contrary
yeah figured lol
the last log eludes to that
Is it clear if The Warden helps the OG team to escape in R8E2 or is the intel non-diegetic for the sake of gameplay (like the admin override info, the reactor and waste flush info and the doors all being openable after Schaeffer's rant about credentials in R8D2)
we know warden wants to help considerin that it is there in the first place
remember, OG warden has been overriden by a trojan virus which gave schaeffer partial control
ALT warden is moreso coming through and helping
or well- more like helpin us know what to do since it isnt doing a whole lot either
I thought there was just a single warden spanning all membranes
i mean - thats a good point actually
but either it is still there and helping us somewhat, we just dont know to what extend anymore
chafer was on control of the HSU lifts but we drop onto D2 and E2, that could be warden
I suppose if the warden knows that the alt team have been told to go to kds deep by "Schaeffer" then it knows something is going down there
given that it responds to active threats during missions it could be assumed that it has some amount of active surveillance throughout the complex
it has complete control of BIOCOM and hearsay, it sees and hears everything in Garganta
even if its control is hindered, it p much knows, it does supervise both teams
it did sort of set up both teams at the end -
it didnt care wwho lives, just that someone does
As far as multiple, there is likely multiple versions of the collectors over several dimensions (given that the collectors ship with active presence is in both dimensional logs, OG and ALT)
Rundown 8 is hard to assume much due to there being a minimum of 5 dimensions mixed at that point in time. We also know that this is not what the warden had planned and is more of a retaliation to Schaeffer's actions.
It likely came to the conclusion that letting the ALT team die while protecting the OG team and the HSUs in KDS would have a higher chance of continuing life than the alternative of saving them.
(Huge grain of salt on this as much of it is speculative and cannot be confirmed)
"a retaliation to Schaeffer's actions" condiserring wardens on crutches by r7e1 i dont think it wwouldve been able to
i think it was just a mwp collpase out of its unintended or bad use
cuz it malfunctions, several times
it is far from on crutches, Schaeffer has limited control of BIOCOM that was pretty easily taken from him in 8B4. Schaeffer in the OG dimension is also fairly incompetent when it came to controlling it, especially after killing Henrikkson. With as short of a time period that R8 takes place in as well, he likely didn't have much control of BIOCOM for much time at all.
that has to be out of something else, as in a2 and b3 we do his bidding no problem and only starts functioning again after interactin with the ALT in b3, flashin for a second
What would it be out of? Shaeffer starts his plan, The Warden then sends the ALT team to do A1-B2 in preparation of the teleport. It only took control back when Schaeffer was actively going to harm the complex shortly after B3.
It likely didnt see anything Schaeffer was doing as a problem up until he risked the lives of those in KDS deep
It also continues to function for the OG Team in R8C2 quite a lot
i mean he risked lives already per draining the coolin tanks - it woulld be just weird that if its sorta capable it lets itself be trojan'd
like - what for?
slendi what
all of this started out of saying that the warden caused the dimensions merge
out of a retaliation to schaeffers plan
which i i said i dont think so cuz the warden wouldnt have that much power to do that
not at all what I said
"Rundown 8 is hard to assume much due to there being a minimum of 5 dimensions mixed at that point in time. [...] is more of a retaliation to Schaeffer's actions."
u used the same wordin
wdym
I said that it took control back when schaeffer started his plan, not that is caused a dimention merge
a retaliation implies a conscious decision made by something to take revenge against somethng else - madge
the membranes convergence/singularity/merging is far more likely due to many versions of ourselves haphazardly using the MWP and Data Cubes, it's even discussed in R6D1 Logs when Schaeffer is talking to a Conduit that the Collectors want to teach us how to use them properly, something Project Insight failed to do and barely knew what they were doing before Garganta's fall
DAS WHAT I SAID
The Warden retaliating against Schaeffer definitely happens by the time of R8B4 for the OG team, in the meantime the Warden seems to be fine for the ALT Team during this interval as they say nothing or hint that anything is wrong
There's no corruption on their BIOCOM visors, either (ALT Team) until R8E1
i wanted to say - mmaybe its just a collector in the membranes but mutiple wardens, but idk how that would work
cuz ALT and OG lived fine separately with their own versions
nuh uh
how can my ass help
uh
not allowed to say
again Ghostly, not what I was going against, I'm well aware the merge happens before R8, I was saying that The warden took control back of the OG team in retaliation of Schaeffer starting the meltdown plan. How you pulled that I said the merge is the retaliation is beyond me lol
ur wordin was v unclear
if both of us got that then something is up with that sentence
.... also i doubt warden is like, "revengful"
it only looks for life to continue, and saw chafi as an obstacle for that
hes just so slimy to kill, since wrdn cannot even trace his location
Meow
:O
I was agreeing with you and just notioning for slendi
Fair enough, I was mid level while reading/ typing lol
R8 has a lot happen really fast with still a lot of ambiguities
I'm having to be real careful on wiki with it
My guess is around 2-3 days for the whole thing, given diolauge but the time travel and really funny time differences between E1 and E2 doesnt help.
Yeah I have to imagine the events are faster than other Rundowns, there's hardly any time to waste
Naturally, multiple Wardens exist (across Membranes) and the concept of that isn't really discussed in depth
(not being entirely serious) but you could toss the time difference in the E's to being that the team simply got the WR speedrun in E2 but over 20 mins faster lol
to what extent things get merged/overwritten, such as what Membrane takes precedence or if things coexist
so true
The only example we have of coexistence are OG/ALT Teams and both versions of Schaeffer
I guess the dead teams we find too, their bodies are fresh
could be the teams from the other universes we potentially* know exist in the mixed one
Could also just be random KSOs since equipment is likely standard across the board
In all cases, it doesn't appear that an individual person undergoes singularity, their alternate versions are just effectively "spawned" into the membrane seemingly without their immediate knowledge since Schaeffer doesn't even directly discuss it at any point and Nightmares are never referred to by name, but prisoners still recognize them as Sleepers
R8B2
, other versions of ourselves can be heard shouting and gunfire off in the distance as the ALT Team, and that can’t be the OG Team since they’re in R8B4 at the time
With the teleportation, it could happen at a different time as well, especially since we end that mission (B2) midway through B3. I wouldn't rule out the OG team being who we hear, it could be during the cell zone scan or the class 4 in that mission
Not saying there wouldn’t be other KSO’s too of course
Also a possibility, I'm assuming that like the other 3 times we hear other shooting that its meant to be the OG team
The other times absolutely
The reason I have some measures of questioning specifically the B2 one is because the other times, it’s just the muted gunfire in other instances, no clearly distinguishable verbal callouts, and I don’t think we hear ALT’s gunfire in B3
the only bit we hear connected to them is on the bridge. I see the discrepancy
yeah that's what I recalled offhand as well
let me be clear - Schaeffer's trojan DOES NOT AFFECT WARDEN. It affects biocom. warden controls biocom, despite biocom constantly trying to erase warden. It is two puppeteers controlling the same set of strings.
biocom itself has been pretty much helpless for a decade
warden can send orders against schaeffer, but so can schaeffer against warden. the ksos just get conflicting sets of orders on the objective stack - they are all equally valid
the thing is, schaeffer is a not-so-sane human and warden is an alien. schaeffer can only be a nuisance for so long, until warden figures out how to get around his meddling/junk objective stack updates.
its just in the middle of this fight for control over biocom we (as og) are able to disconnect ourselves, imo
otherwise warden would have been easily able to step back in and stop us
warden v schaeffer, schaeffer v us.
schaeffer killing henri in r8 was a catastrophic blunder on his part
Schaeffer killing Schaeffer was catastrophic blunder #2
also, on the other topic, we dont know if the warden has a physical form waaaaaay the fuck down in the ship, or if it is an entirely digital consciousness
if there is multiple wardens or just one, i dont think it makes a difference
it would still bat for team collector
if multiple wardens in r8, just means schaeffer gets fucked faster
as schaeffer has proven, he doesnt trust anybody - not even himself (literally)
multiple wardens would just big brain together
I was basing it on how both dimensions have the collision. They could have merged together upon dimension merge as well forming the giga-warden
...don't think i'll ever get over not being allowed to see the ship/inside it.
so much fucking potential
GTFO 2: Mayans* in The Inner
remember it was a process. alt://r6dx has corpses
i wont argue whatever at the start of r8 was a straw.... but still
Still think that teleporting in 6D4 is what broke it, especially with how much and how many dimensions you tleeport to, several of which appear in R8 logs
potentially, but og still had r7 so idk.
R7, but no logs in 6D4 OG
which one?
Nightmare bishop is alt one
idk about that. i just know the alt bishop isn't alt bishop, cus' of the mask.
original ALT bishop is completely AWOL
hey frostty can I show you something cursed I found
Woods
I know. I knew before you did. I am going where he needs me. I will be ready. When the plague comes, I shall be rescued from the lion's mouth, and he will lead us from the darkness. For though there may be many of me, he is one.
Interviewer
Well, we’ll see won’t we?
Woods
I will see. You will die.
this is funny because alt:// woods dies, while og escapes
sure
nightmare shooters have stubby arms and a tiny shrunken head
you can still see them both in normal gameplay
I just have the tendrils turned off to make it easier to see
only the nightmare shooter is like this
ive seen this before
you aren't meant to see them though, in the code they tried to turn them off and hide them with the tumors on the side, but the problem is if you try to turn them off they ragdoll like crazy upon death
the nightmare scout they were able to successfully remove the head and the arms are better hidden, because it's bigger
and to loop this back into lore, it gives me some insights as to what composes Nightmare physiology versus their normal variants
All Nightmares lack a distinct head, but that doesn't mean they can't have faces, as seen with the Nightmare Giant and Nightmare Babies
But I don't think any logs ever indicate their composition, not even in R8B1 which is in Labs
(unlike the normal variants)
at least the host is no longer suffering?
a positive spin on it
another thing about them is there is absolutely no difference between wave variants and hibernating variants of nightmares we encounter
whereas the hibernate and wave variants of the normal counterparts have known confirmed differences and were studied
a unique subspecies?
A different strain causing their specific mutation, yeah
normal sleepers never attack Nightmares and vice versa, and are often found together throughout the latter half of R8 even
and just like wanting to see the ship in The Inner, it really makes me think there's more Nightmare enemies we just end up never encountering
The existence of the Nightmare Shooter AND Nightmare Scout would give fair amounts of credibility to the idea of a Nightmare Big Shooter existing, especially since there is a Nightmare Giant so the size isn't an issue
After going through some old footage, MacReady (Kurt Russell) and his team uncover a crashed alien ship that's been buried in the ice for a 100,000 years.
From The Thing (1982): A research team finds an alien being that has fallen from the sky and is starting to hunt them down. Things take a sinister turn when they realise that the creature ca...
All convos with Frosty come back to the thing lol
i love the thing, what can i say
its a classic
btw, did you ever watch all that 2011 prequel stuff i sent you?
watched it months ago lol. back when I started my new job
its a damn shame
cpuld have been a goated movie
i still think its okay, but yeah, 100% coulda been better without studio bs
are High/Main Extreme/Secondary Overload ever discussed in any logs? The only place I can think of is R4A2 interrupted comms
i dont remember
Clearly they exist in canon, and it's not just a gameplay element, given characters are talking about it directly
Not really, kinda just a gameplay thing. they mention the KSO doing things outside main stuff but not in the compacity of the gameplay
but it also doesn't seem to apply to everyday operations
it seems like it would be a KSO only thing
"Yeah I work in the Overload Sector"
sounds real wack
what about 'threat level'
threat level does very much so sound realistic during the fall of Garganta or if areas are contaminated
i feel like gtfo as a whole could pretty easily be an SCP
GTFO but SCP would be cool if done correctly
the scariest part of GTFO is that no toilets are ever seen during the events of the game except Schaeffer's bucket
wdym, R5D1 is a big enough shit level to cover it all lol
are we thinking keter?
For most yes
or apollyon?
Kracken and flyers might be apollyon
i mean straight up, garganta n' everything
for everything prob apollyon just for the lack of containment options for some things
I thought it was a good movie and it had some interesting ideas like synthetic body parts being discarded but they REALLY should've went with the animatronics they made and practical effects
damn shame
I think some of the people that worked on it ended up making a similar movie with practical effects but it didn't really do well
but yeah the 1982 movie is an undisputed classic and what I like the most is how realistic the characters all act given the situation
@indigo cliff 'GtfoLoreForDummies' in the pins of this channel
Any questions it doesn't answer for you, I can explain directly.
it would absolutely be Apollyon
it's uncontainable and world-ending
sorry I didn't see the messages earlier lol
Why does Kovac park so many of their vehicles in Floodways, which is prone to having vast amounts of water/possibly waste water within it? Are they stupid?
Memes aside, I would think they would do so in Storage mostly
Hello, i have played the game for a while (around 300 hrs). Up to D difficulty and i just started replaying it with friends. Redoing some rundowns reminded me of a lore question i can't seem to find the answer of so i though i would ask here, in case anyone is kind enough to answer
Why are we looking for a neonate hsu ? What is it exactly ? What are we doing to it ? And how does that help us ?
I’m guessing youre at R2?
Well, currently yesbut in the past, i played up to R7 and did a lot of mission depressurizing, opening and doing other stuff to it and i never quite understood why
So quick rundown is that neonate is a baby in a HSU and we are doing some like DNA sampling and stuff on said baby
And depressurising it is like prepping for said sampling methinks
Frostty prolly got better lore info on the baby
We are prepping it for a life speedrun
Truke
Hong Kong reference?
Truke
r7s neonate has a diff purpose than r3s neonate
the complex before the rupture had a program to breed and create clone soldiers using neonates, but they failed cuz of the clines decomposing too quickly, and now it's repurposed by the wrdn for another purpose, which is clear if u read the R6D1 initial log [cof cof do its v cool]
as for r3s neonate, we dont rlly know as it stays connected to a machine, where it presumably is today
well not today- but it stayed there forever
maybe it was a necessary step on the cloning process, or to open sectors, we dont know
Maybe in r3d1 we actually put the baby in its actual bed to sleep forever
uhhhhh well not its mom but sort of
Meow meow meow
Yeah, i heard of the clone programm but it just that given the context of the event of the infection. I don't understand how this programm can help with anything really. I don't really see how it can help open door or find a cure or anything...
Well gargantua has a war/arms company as coowner (or whatever you want to call it), also if you can figure out how to create infinite manpower well youll become extremely rich (also if you want to you can just send in infinite waves against the sleeper given youve got enough time)
Project RISE (the cloning program) was a long term goal of KDS well before they were in Garganta.
Their original intention was to have a way to add members to the Legion program since they were under a little scrutiny for using incarcerated people.
In the context of how we used them, R2E1-R3D1, its likely that it was to gain access to previously inaccessible parts of the complex, or provide more data to assist in creating an effective clone for the Warden to use to communicate.
In R7 its a little less clear since we dont finish out the rundown doing what the warden wants. Its likely to further the cloning technology though as OG Schaeffer didnt take too kindly to his interactions with the clones in OG R6.
Since the events of R7 don't happen in the ALT universe, I'm inclined to believe it was to potentially make a better clone
as if the morals of using clones as security/soldiers wouldn't be scrutinized lol
ok fine
wrdn used it to communicate with schaefger
thats what happens in the r6d1 log
my favourite character shaefger
a conduit [the clone] speaks by the warden
aefer
But then Shaefger later finds Maddoxed but that guy didnt last too long so Shaefger gets Henry son to help him out
