note, that the "bugs under his skin" is likely related to parasitidae garganta, not nam-v.
it is the same scientific family as ticks and such
Parasitidae is a family of predatory mites in the order Mesostigmata that has worldwide distribution. They are the only family in the superfamily Parasitoidea. Relatively large for mites, their color is often yellowish to dark brown. The family as a whole preys on a wide variety of microarthropods and nematodes, with individual species usually h...
um, splash, in regards to the warden, we don't really know its motivations.
it being on our side in r8 isn't something we can really confirm...
as the alt://r6d1 log is without tense.
it could go either way.
additionally, the r2/r3 unit isn't like a conduit.
it was biological storage. we leave it behind at the end of the rundown (r3 that is)
like many things, we don't have answers.
biocom is also partly biological, so it could be related to that.
so wait if r2 and r3 weren't to create the friend then who made the friend
what led to him
i should learn a bit about the lore ngl
in regards to communicating to us over radios and the facility intercom, the warden is an alien.
it probably doesn't know english very well, and even if it did, it's entirely digital--
inside the systems of biocom
otherwise it would be long dead, like the rest of the collectors.
that's what the for dummies doccuments are always there for.
okay, but how does creating a human help with english
also i think the warden likes dogs
it doesn't, not with learning english, but it can speak, and is... i guess partially invisible to sleepers?
they have a really hard time detecting the conduits.
now that's interesting
also the conduits being human-based, they'd appear more like people, and less like monsters to us.
finally an advantage of using a barely functional human vs trained soldiers
the conduit dies after that one conversation with chafi right
granted, schaeffer still killed it, but it is something
in the original universe, yes.
that's funny
i think this is it
q.q
this is mentioned in a couple places...
At first, when the creatures heard it, they tore it apart. As they ripped into it, it kept talking; trying to speak. It had no fear. Now the creatures don’t see it anymore, it walks through them like a ghost. If it has no fear it can’t be one of us. Next time I see it, I’m going to kill it.
no fear?
well i guess fear and pain are not the same
wonder why the hell the sleepers wouldn't interact with it
maybe the conduits are infected too and they just slowly die as they live
It was a human, approximately. It was standing in the middle of a mass of creatures, and they weren't attacking it. The creatures knew it was there, but... pheromones? Temperature? Some kind of... social or behavioral characteristic? I don't know.
whatever the conduits are is mostly unknown. some kind of mutant, to be sure, because of schaeffer's descriptions.
warden's monstrosities created from the renmants of RISE.
wouldn't call them monsters
fren shaped
very heavily malnurished fren but food doesn't grow on trees
if you had any other questions, feel free to ask them while i am here
uuuuuuuuh
you guys went over a lot of stuff while i was away
how many worldlines combined when r8 happened
we don't have an exact number.
last i calculated was something like 11?
don't quote me on that.
OG, ALT, Destination, Nightmare, and the corpses of different versions of our squads
i think there was like 4 or 5 sets of corpses... including alt://r6
somewhere in that range.
how do you know that these all combined
Hence the vid in the works
OG and ALT is easy.
destination, because of this and r8e2.
nightmare worldline is also easy.
then for the corpses, its kind of self-explanitory.
I smell lore
yeh
Yes
there is also that one ceiling room...
Fog Dimension from 2 logs too
a whole bunch of evidence. i'm not just pulling stuff lol.
That's completely normal
nomnom
there was that one zone where the ceiling was a flipped copy of the level below... i forget which one, and don't have a good picture.
r8a1
becoming a sleeper would be infinitely worse, i promise you that.
or r8a2 main
every time we die i just imagine our guys sitting there and constantly getting slapped until we pass out
68 or 67?
You don't have a floor flipped ceiling? I do
Oh, one hit is enough to instantly kill you
But you know
Gameplay
we can tank like 7
Yes
no?
Because gameplay
say that again
explain how 1 tounge hit kills you
In reality no one would survive more than one or two hits at most
personally, i think it'd be more likely that they'd want to convert us rather than just kill us
other than infection
They can bite you and take a chunk of your body
Tell me how you would survive that
90% of our apparels are NOT armor
we'd be like, prime tank mutation material
also it's tounges not like a buzzsaw
they have teeth
Looks like someone hasn't gotten bit and lost a bit of skin/body
the tongues also have mutated teeth inside those.
t thats what i meant
Normal Sleepers are like 5x times stronger than the average human
yeah right
they have no jaw
we have amazing bite strength because we mew
we have jaws
they have none
MEW? MEWING?
it's just a tooth filled piece of intestine or esophagus or something
i imagine it's their guts
intestines are still there. the tongue is tongue.
just mutated wildly
parasitidae garganta plants its eggs in the hosts' intestines, also as seen in the picture
i wish i could take my trusty wrench and fix gtfo
Fix the complex
fix world
fix namv
boom
The engineer
you know, technically, we could escape without nam-v, it'd just require a LOT of planning and time.
time we don't have
was about to say...
well, first, we'd need to seal off all of kds-deep, i mean, weld shut vents, doors, everything.
completely cut off all oxygen and everything
then kill everything inside,
at what scale does the parasite live
wait a little over a month for nam-v to die out,
then make some kind of airlock with hydrostasis units to get into deep
sleeping in hsus in the airlock, and staying in them for a little over a month aswell
after that, it theoretically should be clear
but only theoretically
GTFO just needed some religious people that praise the sleepers and boom, we got a new dead space game
nam-v is really annoying to combat because of its infectiveness and transmission vectors.
so is the consensus that with e2 we just went AYY who ordered a fucking PARASITE
primarly within infected hosts.
and we kill another worldline
yeah but how big is it
if i saw one would i be able to hold it or kill it
are they microscopic?
nam-v kills and infects EVERYTHING really fucking crazy fast.
it runs out of "food" because it just nukes universes.
the parasite and nam-v are symbiotic.
nam-v makes the parasite and its host immortal, so it can just sit dormant, never running out of "food" between outbreaks.
in return, parasitidae garganta is basically unkillable as it has a universe-destroying virus ready to pop off whenever anything/anyone wants to disturb its nest.
no. they are quite large, given the size of their eggs.
once again, i link wikipedia.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parasitidae
Parasitidae is a family of predatory mites in the order Mesostigmata that has worldwide distribution. They are the only family in the superfamily Parasitoidea. Relatively large for mites, their color is often yellowish to dark brown. The family as a whole preys on a wide variety of microarthropods and nematodes, with individual species usually h...
So you could reasonably exterminate them
Before the decon process
you'd have to, otherwise they'd render it futile
Nom nom nom sleeper eggs
its very very difficult, but possible
it requires a LOT of prep time
and time in general
which as pable says, we have... none of, in r8e2.
Is this what happened
maybe an hour, tops, when we need months
no.
at least, it is not apparent.
we did, almost certainly bring nam-v with us, though.
yes.
Yeah
Slowly?
gtfo doesn't have a good ending.
a number of weeks.
Durant was chilling and then we brought hell with us lmao
depending on how long we spend in rundowns 1-8 outside of stasis
Poor durant yeah
3 weeks actually
i'm assuming average expedition time x number of expeditions?
i remember one of you did that calculation before
We would also need to count some of the expeditions we don't play in the actual game
Why does time out of hydro matter
Like we killing Daylight team and shit
very true
We did that?
nam-v kills you in a maximum of five weeks.
could be less, can't be more.
as long as we are outside of hydrostasis, that timer is ticking.
the damage is slowly building up on our bodies.
Okay but doesn't hsu reset the timer because it literally kills it
No
hydrostasis kills it, but it isn't a magical cure-all
The damage stays
You can get rid of the virus but the damage to your body is permanent
we'd just reinfect the instant we leave the hsu
So potentially
we are corpses inside hydrostasis.
if your hsu is quarantined for five weeks...
We have masks on
masks are ineffective.
skin contact is a vector.
Oh don't gimme that
Nam-V went through the highest level of hazmat suits
all transmission vectors
I forgot how is it called
everything except the vaccum of space, as per dauda's research
Ttuth survived for 10 weeks OUTSIDE
scba
something like that
Truth
He avoided contact with EVEYRONE
but it wasn't nam-v getting through that hazmat *
it was parasitidae garganta, eating through it.
You know the virus just doesn't spawn everywhere
Because of the air inside the complex
Bro
What
It's some dust
Typical osha violation
Doesn't even have asbestos
Light work unironically
**...and our only defense is SCBA Level A suits when in NAM-V hotspots. Even with this level of protection, the parasites are finding ways in. **
Someone didn't decon while getting out of the suit
How do you miss a parasite that big during decon
People must have been suffering so much
that much is true.
I am impressed with mr. Truth
Like that guy made it far
Too bad he had to eat food
I'm pretty sure in one of the worldlines he offs himself
In the other he just disappears
There's 2 endings to him?
nam-v is just written in a way as if it is designed to win a powerscaling competition.
The one is where after he dies his bunker goes boom
It's not suicide
After he's dead he will destroy himself to prevent infection from him
Because he's based
Did everything right except murder his wife potentially and have a dog potentially
in the OG universe, only nam-v got out. in alt://, both nam-v and the parasite did.
in both universes, the mayans somehow managed to prevent total univsersal destruction in the 16th century.
there is nothing just about gtfo.
I try to ignore that
it's greed and ego, all the way down
from dreyfus, to hammerstein, hell--to the very reason the apocalypse happened
If you think about it, the Mayans won because there wasn't really many people to infect
Back then human communities were extremely scattered throughout the land
It you think about it the mayans is a stupid plot point
Namv would have killed everything
on the contrary, i think it'd make a better gtfo 2 than the alternatives.
How would GTFO 2 look
mayan suicide squads entering the caves opened up by the earthquake
Playing as a mayan?
taking out as many as possible, knowing you can't return to the surface
its credited as why the mayans died out, in the gtfo multiverse
their war with nam-v and the parasite.
Mayans did had more devastating melee weapons than we do nowdays
"flea demons" as they called them
No lol
Yep
I said devastating not durable
obsidian is sharper than steel
you'd be surprised.
Would i
One hit of their weapons were enough to completely cut someone's stomach open
Or almost take off limbs
A macuahuitl ([maːˈkʷawit͡ɬ]) is a weapon, a wooden sword with several embedded obsidian blades. The name is derived from the Nahuatl language and means "hand-wood". Its sides are embedded with prismatic blades traditionally made from obsidian, which is capable of producing an edge sharper than high quality steel razor blades. The macuahuit...
Yeah so are ours
If we had access to actual current melee instead of improvised melee we would wipe the floor with them
*we are also ksos, with significantly enhanced physical strength and durability.
Do you have the links saved somewhere ready to send? Lol
no, just remembered what they were called.
i've got two monitors and have memorized more.
gtfo lore is my hobby
This is Mayan lore tho
mayan lore is gtfo lore.
Actually Mesoamerican lore goes hard too
its a part of the history, its a part that must be memorized.
and you really can't deny how interesting this war is, given its only briefly mentioned in two logs
I will continue to deny it
and i will continue to think it's a badass concept that should be explored in a sequel/prequel.
i mean, there really isn't much for competition in that regard
maybe a pre-apocalypse game during the fall of garganta when there are still people about in the complex?
How did they even know what they were fighting
i wish we could have seen the ship
Make a modded rundown :3
The facy we didn't is extreme sad
...i have
Make another one
About the inner
i''m nowhere near talented to make custom tiles like that.
besides, i'd rather see something canon.
With enough time and VRAM everything is possible
Max depth is 4km so we're gonna max you out at 1.4 ok
Cool
Let me go to hell
You already gave us hell in a2 sec
Make it about the inner with some mine themed tiles
Instant S tier level
nah... the inner is like, propper space ship.
black obsidian walls
nothing even remotely human-looking
also fucking huge rooms
I want the deep tunnels
the collectors must have been tall af
And hot
Why do you think so
The revealed chamber extended 43 meters to the north, measured 27 meters at the widest point (east from the point of entry), and rose up to 15 meters high.
Oh my god
Could have been a septic tank
They were FAT
artifacts were recovered from the chamber.
given how advanced the collectors are... i hate that i can't argue with you.
their garbage might as well be planet-destroying weapons compared to us
holograms.
They can't speak to humans
What If Warden was their Bonzi buddy
Wait are melee weapons not cannon?
Yes?
Wack
How did you end up at that conclusion
We were talking about how melee weapons break limbs and stuff
And realistically only the hammer is able to do it
At least in one hit ofc
I assumed exaggerated for gameplay
has it gone circular in some weird way
Not they dont fuckin exist in cannon
there's the entire thing of "the prisoners are souped up on a chemical/steroid mixture to be stronger"
that has to be taken into account right
Yes
wait wait wait wait wait... are we fucking arguing that sledgehammers don't exist?
what is the topic?
😭
We were talking about limb breaking with melees
And I said realistically speaking only the hammer would be able to do that
for a normal person, yeah
i'd say pretty much any weapon other than the knife would be feasible given ksos.
and maybe spear
spear tho
Bat would most likely still take a couple hits
kinda pointy stick removes meat of the bone
Spear would impale enemies
nuhuh witha good hit it can be more meatyy
also
i would magine sleepers meat iis softer
cuz decomposition to a point
the skin seems pale
idk... how many swings does it take you to break an inch thick padlock with a bat irl?
and they are deformed
Meat? Probably
Muscle? Unlikely
ñom
Like idk, never tried it
one cuz im real based :3
and cool
i feel like it'd take dozens, at least
Alright Slendo, I'll test it at your house lock
ksos can break it in one.
how bout i test u at my house instead
the strength difference between a normal human and a kso is just unreal
At least invite me to dinner first
poor :c
*one uncharged swing, even
Yeah but we still have limits
I mean
KSOs
We as characters
You know what I mean
regardless, about weapons being canon, they 100% are.
you could realistically find any of them in the complex, most likely.
the spear would probably be the hardest to find
but potentially doable.
I'll invite you then
:D
Spear does sound like the best weapon to actually fight sleepers
honestly? i'd go bludgeoning damage 10/10 times.
Thousands of years of evolution, and spear is still peak
you've seen how little flesh/muscle mass they need on limbs and still can keep going
piercing just isn't the way to go
Yeah but you also need to keep your distance
Being face to face with a giant or anything bigger than a normal sleeper is extremely risky
Hell, even chargers would demolish you
i guess you've just never heard of a quarterstaff...
A quarterstaff (plural quarterstaffs or quarterstaves), also short staff or simply staff is a traditional European polearm, which was especially prominent in England during the Early Modern period.
The term is generally accepted to refer to a shaft of hardwood from 6 to 9 feet (1.8 to 2.7 m) long, sometimes with a metal tip, ferrule, or spike at...
6-9 feet long, with a metal tip on one or both ends
a "big stick" has been a concept people have used since before spears existed.
checkmate.
clubs, cudgels, bludgeons, etc
a stick?
The kanabō (金砕棒, kanasaibō), lit. 'metal stick' or 'metal club') is a spiked or studded two-handed war club used in feudal Japan by samurai. Other related weapons of this type are the nyoibō, konsaibō, tetsubō (鉄棒), and ararebō. Related solid iron weapons with no spikes or studs are the kanemuchi (or kanamuchi) and the aribo (a...
A stick durable enough and big enough to use as a "quarter staff"
You can't just use anything you find
Spears are the ultimate medieval weapon and i will hear no more of this heresy
Spears take advantage of the biggest thing in warfare, just being really far away from someone
However given the range of sleepers you can't really outrange them with any melee
So this advantage of spears kind of doesn't matter too much
Unless you're dealing with chargers potentially
Also I'm relatively unsure of how well you or I could swing a sledgehammer at a sleeper
yes and no...
sure, the spear is the easiest to use and most effective weapon in the hands of a newbie
and yes, it is also abuses the biggest thing in warfare
Outranging people is really good
well, i'm not angry
nor annoyed
you have a point, and i agree
but i don't agree enough, thats just it
i... think...
What do you think is the best melee
in gtfo or in general?
THE KATANA!!!!!!!
FOLDED 10 THOUSAND TIMES!!!!!!!!!
BECAUSE JAPAN STEEL WAS ASS
just kidding
Wasn't Japanese steel really good
actually, no
Because their ore was super pure
they had to fold it a lot when forging because of how bad it was
That's not the story i learned from YouTube
me neither...
well, llllet's agree to disagree on that topicc
about melee... it mostly depends on technique, IMO
There is a video of a spear fending off 3 katanas because of range
but in general, to whoever is handling, i would say a spear, yes
i would argue that the javelin is even better (which is a kind of spear anyway, so point still stands)
why? beccause it takkes advantage of the biggest thing in warfare, being as far away as possibllle
you literally throw a arm-sized arrow at someone
The art of throwing shit
i mean... guns are literallly the epitome of throwing rocks
Yea
So are tank shells
They're basically arrows because that helps with penetration
I think the stinger spear would be the best thing yoj could have in gtfo
the only issue with spears is if either someone grabs it or someone gets way too close
Jab a sleeper and tear that thing out and hopefully cut them in half
The super close issue is also for swords tho
but not with knives/daggers!
which, btw, are amongst the worst melee weapons in general
Yea
because you have to get up close and personal...
so, the ultimate weapon would be a collapsible spear
short as a knife (pointy and stabby!), but also extendablle to be a big ass spear
but alas... we do not have the materials to make a durable one...
maybe the hacksmith will come up with a way to do so, or NASA... hopefully
A telescopic spear would have terrible durability
Not to mention you wouldn't be able to use it like a spear...
Because of the difference of height between layers, you couldn't hand slide.
One of the main (one handed) maneuvers with a spear is thrusting toward, using momentum and catching the spear just before it hits... effectively throwing it while still in hand.
Your hand would get caught on the first groove.
Also I'll die on the hill that spear + shield is superior to wielding a spear in two hands.

Change that spear to a hellebarde and wielding it in 2 hands would be so much better
very usefull guide for spear mains
and i like it
line moment
I wonder what are the lore implications of the diabolical scan line
Had to have been fun clocking into work at Santonian
"yeah I work past the Secondary Bulkhead"
proceeds to run for 5 mins
I was watching a speedrun of a mission once and joked with a friend that these were the santonian employees who knew exactly where the scans would be because they worked in the complex every day for several years
Prolly true ngl
how many tiimes we got to say the complexwent on lockdown D:
and that sec scans wasnt the usual
Imagine they have full team scans
Would that be like
500K people needing to fit in one small ass circle?
What if, it is to verify that you are human? some Dumbass sleeper wouldn't be abled to open a door that way, even if he can somehow flip the door lever
to verify u got permit to enter i imagine
its a bioanalysis at the end it figures out ur identity
warden- and schaeffer- does give us permits that otherwise we wouldnt have
r8d2 demontrates it
Can you imagine like if the dumbass warden could just put alarms on silent
I wonder what all these sleepers and biomass feeds off of
Something in the inner is juicing them up maybe or is it just the nice glowing warmth from the nuclear reactors
we have chemical soup in the hsus. we will be fiiiiine
I get the parasite is immortal but the human body
Not that
Sleepos
Let them snooz
ah.
What is their sustenance
cannibalism
its a bit... plot-holey
yum
They don't attack their own
Otherwise the complex would basically be empty
2 guys click at the same time and then they start fighting because they woke each other up
Then the rest of the room joins in because now everyone else is also awake
Scouts would be nuked from orbit across the complex
"SHUT UP DAVE"
I wonder if you could tame a sleeper
Like a shooter
its up to your interpretation here. They do be hybernating so they can take at least some time without needing for nutrition
Yeah but it has been multiple years and they do move every few seconds
also the destination variants
defang a striker and call him lamar
that's slavery.
If(hasparasite) == true
sleepers aren't zombies -- the people are still in there
I don't wanna hear this helkish eternal conscious suffering again
again?
Yeh
did i already link you the rant about the mothers once before?
No
they probably, no, almost certainly, have it the worst.
wide opened ribcages is not so poggers
funny face :]
I'm confused on whether the mom is one thing or 2 things combined into one thing
is one ttthing
oh
yay
vestigial male
is it ksmdkm [[Mother]]
So much fun
Taking inspiration from trees i see
doesnt the model without tumors only seem like one
Do we need to update the mom page
I'm inclined to believe that the skull is just full of eggs
And the lights are off
Everything else in their body's full of eggs
i mean that's just hopefully guesswork.
we can see the outline of their faces beneath the membranous hood
Looks pretty normal
just one person yeh
one person doesn't have two sets of arms...
its front and backside
i have no clue how you came to that conclusion
possible mutation :D idk
there are 4 sets of arms, if not more
4 sets?
multiple [redacted] for maximum baby production?
You mean 4 individual arms
How does the parasite even source that
Also i think it's unnecessary
One unit has some million sperm cells
I don't think multiple would matter
I also wonder what's up with all the tumours
i meant of females.
Mmm maybe
i mean regardless, the rate at which they reproduce is NUTS
I don't even know why they reproduce
sleepers throw themselves in massive waves to defend their hives.
they don't use tactics, they use mountains of bodies
In the sense that new grown up sleepers just hatch out of the ceiling
my idea with that is redundancy
I don't think babies grow into anything
though, it is hinted if i remember correctly that mothers and tanks aren't entirely natural mutations
Dauda you fuck
Megamom can birth Normals
bonk dauda
There's one of those in the whole game
which is even weirder.
but then again, r7d1 fundamentally breaks a ton of biological rules with the unit/neonate
What happens there
@rocky wraith
you'll either get an instant reply or get one in 2-3 business days.
something about this game has had a tendancy to attract experts in certain fields in the past.
i know another person, punkthulu worked in disaster cleanup
bodyhorror
but they haven't been active in years
yeah, but the speed at which it develops is biologically impossible
read through this.
#gtfo-lore message
I feel inclined to excuse this
They didn't have to add the animation to accidentally break biology and it has no other implications
fandom wiki >:(
What else do you have
it would explain why Project rise clones were not lasting for long
[[R7D1]]
trusty #gtfo-chat that will definitelly not misinfo you
the other actually supported wiki
"B6A108AC43 #4913 - “... are not clones. RISE uses existing genetic material, but the resulting…” - flagged"
OGR6 HPF-4NP-UNK
The R7D1 page still needs some updates too
I wonder why the complex decided snipers and long range rifles were needed
Granted some rooms are big
But rifles will easily reach
Maybe for hostages
kill employees trying to run away in the jungle
helecopter pot shots
i assume its standart issued equipment for all sorts of tasks including for the ones outside of the complex
When considering typical weaponry for security enforcement never really goes beyond pistols, SMGs, and basic rifles, the implication presented by weaponry such as machineguns and sniper rifles is much more sinister as to the militaristic nature of Kovac Defense Services
also, the penetrative power of snipers might have been thought to be neccessary to deal with tanks and franks
When was the first encounter with Sleepers in the complex
remember, they were fighting against the sleepers and slowly losing ground for a few years
they use hollow points tho, it is for human targets
i don't remember. at least as early as 2053, given OGR6 DT-E105-009
it was a good while. a few of the logs describe kovac escort teams for insight's scientists
So that means it was for about… 3 years, given the Dauda log of him being put into an HSU and saying the facility is overrun?
last dated log is 2056, november.
ogr6's WRU-TYR
the one i linked before was in january 2053
i don't know if its the first, though
it's too late for me tonight and i don't feel like digging.
I smell lore
what lvl is this for
R7D1 i think
ooooo thats what that was i c
wassup?
Explain r7d1 and how that breaks biological science
That's why you were summoned basically
Or don't if you don't wanna
basically the rapid growth and development of the neonate is wayyyyy to fucking fast
2 secs
Could link the previous time you mentioned it in here
no theories, its basically a part of the future science. But there are a lot of fun little tidbits that we worked on over the years to work it all out
I’ve actually got another bio question: what about the biomass generating specimens seen throughout the labs environment dormant in tanks
Oh yush!
I can explain those
So a standard procedure in figuring out how organisms work is to look at their proteins, DNA, and phenotypes(the physical presentation of characteristics). But looking at them is not enough to work out what they do. So a standard thing we do, is cause an error or mutation in a particular gene and then grow the organism as normal. You can then watch its development and see how missing that gene has affected its development, eg. if the developing organism is suddenly developing tumours all over, you can then infer that the gene might have something to do with DNA repair or replication. ETC.
Sometimes the mutation will just cause the organism to die, which isn't very helpful, so sometimes we introduce activation proteins instead into these genes to trigger them to fail later in development when we want them to, to then get a better idea of what's fucking up and why.
I surmise that these tanks are filled with the mutated versions of sleepers that the scientists are experimenting in this way to work out how the parasite/virus/organism genes are functioning in order to control it or work out cures etc
Just my 2 cents
🙏
The mass in the centre is acting as a womb and placenta to supply nutrients
hope it helps
That does help a lot, thank you
there IS a log stating that the parasite and NAM-V mutate super rapidly and wildly. could it be the case that those are actually natural ocurrences?
i mean, they have the tech to bore a massive facility, so they sure have the tech to analyze genes directly
Double check that it uses the specific word 'mutate' because I dont quite remember that and means something different than adapt
going
there, "... extent of viral mutation ..."
the whole log
lliterally the first log, lol
they definitely have the tech to "see" genomes directly, it is stated in one of the rundown 1.0 logs as well
even a geologist can do so, they being gallius hammerstein
there is a non zero chance that no the fuck he can't, and instead he just claimed that
hammerstein is an ass
fair enough
i actually got the "wrong" log
those are not from alt// rundown
by skimming the ccorrect logs, they look like to be the same
at least the ones from alt r1
they're in 205X, so they should have the tech anyway, no?
they could in fact do, I just don't think hammerstein saying he did something means that he did
i smell lore
like "maybe they could but THIS EXACT THING isn't the right piece of evidence"
makes sense
Oh yeah, normal gene sequencing will allow that, but telling what they actually do is why they have all the tanks
Pretty neat, but you also have to remember that naturally occuring mutaitons are 90% deleterious and 10% addition (Gain of Function) mutations. Which mostly turn out to negatively impact the host. Researched mutations that are artificially put in by scientists are intended to 'knock out' the gene from having an effect. While many normal mutations may have little to no effect whatsoever
The gene shuffling is present in many of our species including us, (see somatic hypermutation for antibody creation), but the form and function that this high rate of mutation the parasites and virus tend to have are seemingly towards adaptation to increase infectivity
i''ve heard about somatic hypermutation, it's so cool
are you a biologist? biology researcher? something sciency and saucy?
i didn''t know that fact about natural mutations, but, in hindsight, does make a lot of sense
He's dauda from another mauda
the fandom wiki.... mire is gonna kill you
yes he is.
:(
the fandom wiki could have a log saying Woods likes to play with his pet flying squirrel before missions for all I know
no one is upkeeping it and it has a lot of misinfo on it by now
;-;
do u prefer ghostly or mire :3
Ghostly is an adjective and mire is a noun.
It is the correct way.
You wouldn't call me lostty.
I lowkey call him ghostly 😭😭😭
learn proper grammar
Team is this where I pull out the trilingual card?
But anyways I usually call people the first part of their name
Funny
I took French and Japanese in high school
Well by those definitions I’m quadlingual
Maybe 5 if you count my limited French
Ich parle decent 日本語
😭
I only speak a tiny bit of German though. Heritage.
So thing is I can like understand and be understood by Norwegians, Danes is slightly worse, Germans are also slightly worse but I could prolly survive
More like my grandmother was fluent, and my great grandmother was German herself.
I spent a lot of time around my grandparents as a kid
I've never taken a course or anything. I only know basic phrases and words
Huh fair enough
My dads Finnish but like I don’t know a lick of Finnish
And I’m not really a part of the Finnish culture
So I rarely call myself Finnish
ok loremaster
Are all the members of the jedi council just called "master"?
You didn't think that through.
shure
:3
hehehehehehehe not me
although some people do call me andro
That’s cuz ur nick on this server is goat
I don’t look into people’s bios that much
@honest summit @royal crow got some clarification on that "OOB Alpha Camp" in R8B2 Sec when looking through the cavern entrance if you turn around after teleporting for the first of the 3 terminals. It IS an Alpha Camp: It's a partially loaded alternate Alpha Three. Not sure that it's the same Alpha Three as where the Kraken fight takes place in R8B2 Sec though because the same sightline is used on the final teleport to the Kraken fight itself
you can see all of this from inbounds
you can hover over both alpha three and that OOB one to compare, it's the rightmost 2 buildings
say, during the Kraken Fight there is a cave the sleepers are comming from. Is it similar to the cave we tp to?
the Nightmare Strikers, correct? they come from the South end of Alpha Three. I think so-- but I'd like to verify that later today alongside the cave the Sleepers come from in R6AX, since that is also the same part of Alpha Three
Didnt have time to write Till the end
Cause i Could Imagine them making a Low quality Version Just to Connect the two arenas without the need to Render everything
The following article archives all of the logs, voice-overs, and other related lore which could be found within Rundown 6.0, or were released at the same time as the rundown. As this rundown is no longer available, this article represents the last version of the logs as found within the game — although errors or omissions may exist.
@eternal talon
I can't believe I missed this one
I mean they built these concrete walls, nearly 20 meters high right onto the seabed floor and then drained out an area that’s almost 15 acres, that’s… 10 football fields of seafloor exposed. The contaminants they have leaked into the surrounding waters are incalculable.
nearly 20 meters has to be just the water depth. That's way too shallow for safety purposes, a small wave would flood the place
15 acres is a plot of ~246.3 meters squared, but we know that structures like this should be circular
idk i did not study to be an engineer
you should study to be a door closer!
I'd think they mean that they extend 20m above water
but now that I read that 2nd and 3rd time
This is an alternative interpretation and would be more akin to oil rig height before the platform
that would be reasonable
idk how deep the ocean even is at that locatiob
to take the other interpretation into account
10-11 fathoms
how much is that
hold on I can use google
yeah I don't think that's enough for the whole wall
that would leave like nothing above water
couldn't Garganta be partially underwater?
the rain in the beginning of each mission might just be the water trickling down a clear-ish dome?
i mean, if it is at sea, no equipment could withstand seawater for that long without repairs...
and it's is not like they have capable automated repair drones, even though they appear to have robots in the labs section
it would also explain why it is never daytime in Garganta, because there is no natural light
I doubt they would do that
so the prisoners always go down at night?
i mean... it does have some sense
a dome wouldn't make sense cost-wise as well as construction-wise I don't think
the sleepers... sleep?
structure wise, it makes sense. it may not be a clear glass-like dome
I don't think "sleep" is a good word ironically
that makes rain forever?
maybe not forever but just in the 'right' moments
no, i mean they have a cicardian cycle, they "sleep" at night
It is partially under water
I think they just hibernate and don't even have any idea of a cycle
problem solved!
La Vena is off the coast, most of, if not all other entrances are on mainland
There's an entrance above the water with an helipad if I'm not mistaken
where does the HSUs reside in Garganta then?
the ones with prisoners
becase it is always raining
no lore related?
It just looks spooky
No
like, being underwater, or the NAM-V/parasite combo sleep in the rain...
No
damn
It's just gameplay flavor to make it look scary
this game is completely unplayable
survive, sure, but awake and angry?
yes
not sleeping then? damn
both
i mean, sure, if they survive awake, why not asleep
you can get Sleepers entirely underwater in R8A2
lemme drop in
turned on markenemies to show it wasnt a corpse
you can get sleepers semi-regularly here
Sleepers take baths? No way
only place in the game too
(there are actually puddles of water in Gardens, Floodways, and even the Destination cave arena and they can be found sleeping there too)
this is just the deepest water
no need I guess
why be awake and do nothing when you can hibernate and fuckall
Is there any lore reasons on how different alarms attract enemies in different amounts? (Surge, normal, diminished)
The best explanation we have is volume/frequency meant to cordon off higher security areas. The full spectrum is Diminished, Normal, Moderate, Strong, Extreme, Surge
I see! That’s interesting. Didn’t realize there were more levels in between
The Sleepers were being fought against for a couple of years before the fall of garganta, so it isn't entirely unreasonable to surmise such during training exercises like as seen in the tutorial and R8B3
in r8d2 it does mention Db levels and affects the enemies
normal moderate strong extreme?
i have never seen those
Normal is just any alarm that doesnt have those suffixes
Moderate is also like almost the same as Normal, just slightly different interval
the alarm page probably needs an overhaul at this point
Its missing about 60% of the alarms I mentioned in my script, with a ton of the info missing completely off the wiki
That figures
do we know if dataspheres are just storage devices? i had a crazy theory that they're human brains that have been repurposed as storage units, which is why data has to be injected into them
they're for sure not human brains
It would be really funny if they were, because in the objective room of R5C3 and R6CX, that central mainframe is just a giant datasphere
you can just barely make it out underneath the monitors, much more visible in noclip to see
I've always interpreted it as The Complex's form of SneakerNet
i live inside of there
which tile?
R5C3 corrupted uplink room
is there a lore reason for why R4 has this redness on the hole
also does each rundown take place in different holes
ye sort of, diff parts of the complex
what about the redness in r4
It looks cool
from what I asked around it's just cosmetic
and yeah we use a bunch of diff tunnels for infil
as well as exfil
it's interesting that garganta which is where everything started outlasted the world
even before gtfo's rundowns
the world fell before the complex did
and it's even more interesting that this is believable
while being ironic
I mean
Garganta has super soldiers
The ability to make clones and use their parts to heal their soldiers
They had HSUs
Alien technology
Etc
I doubt the rest of the world had this
Also it's way easier to lockdown a complex made of halls and rooms than you know, countries
Wild animals can get infected too, and they don't care about borders
chimp/shrimp theory will rise again
they took our jobs
Tell that to draft horses and oxen.
they took our jobs, horses and oxen
@eternal talon I read another very interesting log from ALT R4C1
unfortunately I can't even post it because it gets filtered
G62-988-G2Q
why does it get filtered?

Decker,
Here are the stats as of July 2053. So many unknowns - much of this is best guess.
General admin: 11,000 sq/m (offices, meeting rooms etc)
Habitation: 28,000 sq/m (dorms and private)
Recreational: 4,000 sq/m (rest areas, leisure spaces)
Medical: 14,000 sq/m (includes topside clinic and evac station)
Services: 9,000 sq/m (transit, power, water, environment control etc)
Utility & Access: 160,000 sq/m (utilities, access tunnels)
Mineral & Ore processing: 325,000 sq/m (mostly iridium and platinoid processing, some specialist facilities not explained in the directory)
Material research: 205,000 sq/m (can't get in to these so who knows?)
Storage & shipping: 485,000 sq/m (mostly topside and upper levels)
Modular Enterprise space: 315,000 sq/m (this is that Project Insight space we discussed, and something called RISE)
BioEngineering facilities: 90,000 sq/m (Hammerstein weirdness)
Affiliate allocation (Nyxos): 45,000 sq/m
Affiliate allocation (Rockford): 20,000 sq/m
Affiliate allocation (McCallister): 3,000 sq/m
Affiliate allocation (Kovac): ? (can't find ANYTHING on this, but there's several levels of excavation they have completely taken over)
Affiliate allocation (Unregistered): 185,000 sq/m (not specified, but we're still not allowed in)
Deepest point: Shaft 17b 4200m (we may have gone deeper. The drill never stops)
Largest natural void: Valiant Chamber 7,364,250 cubic meters (latest numbers, they're still exploring)
Largest excavation by volume: Probably KDS Deep? KDS Deep location was approximately 4,000,000 cubic meters before Kovac rescinded record access.
I'll fill in the blanks if I get KDS clearance. Or maybe I'll just walk in like I own the place ;/
Igor```
what's so interesting about this
I've seen this log before.
the abbreviation for cm^3 is the male seed in this log
It gives very rough calculations for garganta's size.
whuh
isn't it "just" how much usable area they got
so it's still pretty up in the air regarding like how long it goes in different directions
Do scout feelers come out from the head or the back?
I know in the game it is from the head
But is it supposed to?
By the Physiology
any scout variant can bend down
if you immediately cause a scout to tendril out again the animation becomes funky and it comes out from their shoulders/torso for some reason
how i thought of it were like the "stones" on the heads are supposed to be tendrils
papillomas
i'm assuming it's around the bottom of the neck
they're stored in the torso
and they come out through there
they don't really fit inside the neck or head
it's a lot of 🪱
Do we know how chargers form
just another one of the virus mutations, i believe its canonically a colagen like substance the one that covers them?
but same as shadows just nother funny mutation
Shadows are weird
Is it connected to the weird glowy ceiling that you first see in R1C2 and other charger levels?
most probably
we dont know what the ceilng is, but takng the enemies work lik a hive, maybe soome protection as the keratin coat seems to protect
and the ceiling seems to be of the same subtance
Very neat, always enjoyed that bit of environmental storytelling
I don’t think shadows share anything like that other than always showing up with reactor deactivations
shadows share the capability of making us make theories on hoow they exist KMSDKM
In the Nightmare Dimension there is different goop on the ceiling where this would otherwise be
headcanom is thats just ummesesary growth like a moss
like mom tumors, just a plague
I mean I think it’s just the nightmare strain of growth plain and simple
In R7E1 it is used twice and in both cases enemies come Out of it. So my theory is that its Something sleepers can travel through Like the Blood evevators in DMC 5
The Nightmares are a different strain of sleepers
Oh yes the flesh walls which also appears in nightmare dimension
huh where
Brazil and reactor
oh a2
no i keant where in r8
but yes those two
thats true
no we pass when there isnt one and then we look around and its there

Yes so you passed thru it
as a2 happens in a much mote infected dimension i woulsnt b surprised it just gets made
um
fucking gameplay
um you
