Sometimes I wonder just how big this server was for there to be so many different chats

And the ones I have customized to be in always are white

On the daily someone at least posts in pets or food, all of the GTFO chats usually are posted every hour or so, GTFO general and help is more frequent and tech and wiki I’ve not been paying attention to

why does 71d1 have overload but not secondary?

next panther
#

so the current overload didnt fit secondary in their eyes

loud urchin
loud urchin
#

and even then, half of it is just error alarms which isn't too much of a modifier

loud urchin
next panther
#

b2 fits it

#

i cant remember b3

loud urchin
#

ah yes going and finding 5 osips surely modifies this mission

#

doing 2 s1 scans, an alarm, a blood door, and a terminal command surely modifies this mission

next panther
#

oh

#

i messed upp the objectives

#

yeah idk

loud urchin
#

r4c2 c3 it just starts error alarms

next panther
#

but thats what they said to me

loud urchin
#

r4d2 is another error alarm

#

tbh i can't remember r4a2, that was another error alarm wasn't it

#

and so is r4a3

next panther
#

yeah

#

so they kept to it in most levels

loud urchin
#

then for r5 uhhh

#

r5a2, much modifier

#

r5a3 i guess was the fog that's pretty meaningless

#

b1 was a reactor

#

b2, more fucking osips

#

c2 was thunderdome

#

so ya it doesn't stick exceptionally well

wanton moss
#

Like, doing secondary changes Main route? Like adding/removing fog/gas, error alarm, darkness?

#

Also I think you meant to say secondaries, right? Cause in R4B2 Variscite Sec Obj starts error that lasts the entire level. I think R5A2 sec obj turns off the lights for the whole level. Although I guess R4C3 Overload starts constant charger wave after HSU scan. Or did I mix that up with secondary?

#

Maybe I should stop idk

next panther
#

i think they just didnt really stick to it that well

wanton moss
#

Yeah I was getting confused thinking about it. Been watching a lot of recordings lately and was like “this one fits, this one fits, that one doesn’t, wait, is that sec or over?”

ionic dune
#

Do woods and co know before they get teleported that they will get teleported for the first time? Their reaction seems non existent

raw terrace
#

they used to have dialogues

ionic dune
#

Does chatter reborn have the lines?

#

I listen thru that and uhh still seemed very like ”woah that happened, let’s continue like nothings unusual”

raw terrace
#

but for example woods breathes heavily and says like "God bless us..."

#

maybs hackett just doesnt give a shit

ionic dune
#

And then ”did everyone get back” for woods

#

And that was all I heard when I manually imputed it

#

Is it cuz I didn’t get the rest of the lines from the bots?

ionic dune
#

I’d expected there to be like a ” where are we” type moment where they’re all talking to each other 🤷‍♂️

raw terrace
#

tbh thats not much this game either
but idk how the mod works so im not sure if ur missin lines

ionic dune
#

So far I’ve only gotten woods lines which is unfortunate as I think I need others with same mod to get the rest of the lines, also fair enough but it did feel quite tame

raw terrace
#

ur also in a team of 4 so consider ur groups own reactions on top

#

the voiceline there is moreso supposed to add to ur banter, ur own groups banter

#

while lines on r8 r7 are story focused for ur group to pay attention to

ionic dune
#

Oh fair, forgot for a sec that this is in fact a group effort game lol

ionic dune
#

Is Mr truths rant about the earthquake the mothership firing?

#

It’s in R6B2

royal crow
#

Thats just an earthquake caused by the long time crashed ship
After that earthquake a massive deposit of idk what element was discovered

#

Thats when and why Garganta was built

ionic dune
#

indium or sum like that

#

oh ok

coral gorge
acoustic ferry
#

What a bunch of bullsh

coral gorge
#

Real

#

especially looking at R8

#

and R6D1

#

which all have lore „forced”

acoustic ferry
#

Im still figuring out how having character voice lines is forcing lore

#

Ignoring those door sections

coral gorge
#

Im still trying to figure out why they botched all the R6 lines

#

which where legit really cool

acoustic ferry
coral gorge
#

Oh yeah

#

thats valid that they moved those to terminals

#

cause those sucked

acoustic ferry
#

But they could have just added triggers that played them whilst you were just exploring

#

Now no one’s gonnna listen

coral gorge
#

I mean, i kinda got used to the logs on terminals formula

#

but some could be in the middle of the level

#

especially the Scheaffer ones

acoustic ferry
#

And I’m still figuring out who is this part of the player base that complained about that

#

Im yet to find one

loud urchin
#

but it was iridium here iirc

acoustic ferry
#

Can I play with others with the chatter reborn mod?

gray bone
#

Yes

acoustic ferry
#

Also how many voice lines were removed?

#

Like roughly

loud urchin
#

removed, or never implemented? either way people probably don't have an accurate answer

acoustic ferry
#

Removed

eternal talon
#

voice lines... i know in r5, at least, each character had a couple for their and others backstory logs...

#

so like 16

#

but i don't really know more than that.

cunning light
#

A few of them were replaced when the alt:// rundowns came out, I believe

#

Or maybe when the voice command system was implemented ? Around 1.0 ?

eternal talon
#

and didn't want a characterized story

#

remember, back in ogr1-ogr2, there was practically zero identifiable information about the characters

cunning light
#

The idea behind the character chatter during gameplay was not bad, but it was quite hard for it to hit home

eternal talon
#

they were just inserts

#

and in regards to people not talking about it, it's an old, mostly settled issue.

#

it is what it is

ionic dune
loud urchin
#

both iridium and indium are real elements

eternal talon
#

this game, in its incredibly tiny niche, sells itself as a super hard coop pve experience

ionic dune
eternal talon
#

people i don't think came to it for the story ala dark souls, but the uniqueness

eternal talon
loud urchin
#

there was something about an unknown substance being named something or other 77a iirc

#

but i couldn't tell you about that

eternal talon
#

or cretasium 77a

#

one of the two

loud urchin
#

ah

eternal talon
#

it is a partially iridium alloy.

ionic dune
eternal talon
#

hyper strong alien metal

#

the ship's hull is made out of it.

#

it's what was detected on deep scans

#

i think the artifacts are also partially made of it

#

but dont quote me on that one

#

Cretasium 77a

#

The silicon resin does temporarily block the jump defect, so that has helped. It decays pretty quickly as the Cretasium eats through it, but it means we actually can touch the artifacts at least.

#

We’re looking into the possibility that the behavior of the artifacts may be inhibited or regulated in some manner by Cretasium 77A. It has been found in large quantities throughout the fossil and it’s the only material that does not disappear when introduced to the… hello? Hello? Dr. Hammerstein? Uhm… where was I? Uh… pause recording.

ionic dune
#

So it’s corrosive

#

Or whatever that one’s called

eternal talon
#

So, I took it upon myself to conduct a physical inspection of our FO network, and have found something I can't explain. In several locations (schematics attached) the optical cables have somehow enmeshed with the surrounding rock. I don't know much about geology, but the rock looks crystalline to me. Perhaps this is the Cretasium substance I have heard about? Whatever it is, it is enmeshing itself with the BIOCOM network infrastructure and affecting ping times. The system is running fine, but I thought you should know. I don't see how it could be considered a security risk, but there are places where our physical network is - for want of a better word - vulnerable.

ionic dune
eternal talon
#

no, this is how biocom supposedly "hacked into" biocom.

#

all of the bulkheads were sealed far later.

#

oh

#

i can't read

eternal talon
#

i don't know

ionic dune
ionic dune
eternal talon
#

We need to erase everything off the datacubes before we write new navigation components to them. Project Insight research indicates datacubes contain magnetized Cretasium platters and are susceptible to intense magnetic fields. That means a degausser should wipe all data on them.

acoustic ferry
acoustic ferry
#

Also id they’re inserts why even name them?

eternal talon
#

nonono

acoustic ferry
#

Why aren’t they just random prisioneirs

eternal talon
#

i'm saying they were treated as inserts by the community,

ionic dune
eternal talon
#

i'm not speaking for 10cc

acoustic ferry
#

Oh ok

eternal talon
#

even back then we knew bishop wrote code for the santonian industries website, and a couple other minor things

#

just not genuine backstories

#

that'd come far later

ionic dune
#

Did the Facebook page come later?

eternal talon
#

all we really had? was the official character descriptions

eternal talon
#

i'm assuming the single-paragraph character discriptions were released extremely early on.

#

** BISHOP, FRANK GO-1395
A lifetime ago, Frank Bishop made a losing bet. He’d robbed, kidnapped, and trafficked in a bid for fortune and power.
This time, it was blackmail, but things didn’t go to plan. His target turned the tables, condemning him to years of brutal captivity.
The torture and deprivation he endured ended with Bishop suffering an even worse fate: Hydrostasis.
Now, unable to remember the man who destroyed him, he’s left with only the rage and mistrust that sustained his tragic existence.

HACKETT, AIDEN O-4711

The first person to admit Hackett isn’t cut out for this world is Hackett. Even as a child, his feral mind was a deadly force.
When he joined the military, discipline loosened the grip of his dark impulses, but nature always finds a way.
Inevitably, Hackett’s instinctive cruelty was unleashed on a peacekeeping mission that couldn’t have gone more wrong.
Clear-eyed about his actions, Hackett knew that redemption would cost him life as he knew it.

WOODS, ISAIAH F-2056

Isaiah Woods was a religious man of honor and courage who saw too much.
The brutality of combat changed him from a spiritual man to a ticking time bomb.
When his fuse finally burned down, he went on a rampage and justified it as divine retribution for the evils he saw around him.
Even now, with no memory of the carnage he wrought, he feels the presence of God flowing through him. Some fires burn too deep to smother.

DAUDA, ABEO T-3701

A brilliant young mind. A groundbreaking researcher. A pillar of the scientific community.
Nigerian-born psychopharmacologist Abeo Dauda was all of those things before his obsessive ambition broke his moral compass.
Dauda’s blindness to the human cost of his experiments made him indispensable to unscrupulous drug companies.
As long as they stayed out of his way, he didn’t question them.
By the time he realized the depravity of the people he worked for, it was too late.

Ogs are worse

#

For various reasons which I don’t know

eternal talon
#

by the tiniest margin

acoustic ferry
#

Did alt ever know they were talking to another Shaffer that was coordinating some other team?

ionic dune
#

Wasn’t it based on how they are when we are playing?

acoustic ferry
#

Before the Schaefer’s died

ionic dune
#

And when OG abandons alt?

eternal talon
#

but its roughly even

#

only a slight difference\

#

they are the same people, after all

acoustic ferry
#

Woods is still a psycho?

ionic dune
#

Aren’t all of them? (Maybe not bishop depends on if he’s actually guilty)

eternal talon
# acoustic ferry Woods is still a psycho?

Woods
I know. I knew before you did. I am going where he needs me. I will be ready. When the plague comes, I shall be rescued from the lion's mouth, and he will lead us from the darkness. For though there may be many of me, he is one.
Interviewer
Well, we’ll see won’t we?
Woods
I will see. You will die.

#

Interviewer
And those marines were the enemy?
Woods
Yes! Or… Listen, I knew every one of them. Apostles of the devil, to a man. They celebrated it, rejoiced in the chaos of their deeds. I did give them a last chance to hear the word before their judgment, but they chose to remain deaf.
Interviewer
Did they laugh at you?
Woods
They did not seek forgiveness. That is what matters.

eternal talon
ionic dune
#

Eagle said psycho

ionic dune

Oh

#

Yea fair enough

acoustic ferry
#

Are those the two different logs from alt and og?

eternal talon
#

og:
Recruiter
Hmm. (deep breath) And those marines, I suppose they were the enemy.
Woods
Yes, I spoke to them, each and every one when they arrived in Larnica. These men reveled in the chaos. I reminded them to their oath to the lord, but they could not hear me.
Recruiter
(breath) Did they, didn't do nothing?
Woods
They offended GOD! I found them to be lost and without hope! The godless, on the slaves, on which upon hell is built. The godless have forgotten the commandment, the godless FEED the Devil! The question is, why weren't you there to kill them?

eternal talon
#

i can post the full audio if you want

acoustic ferry
#

The main difference is that woods seems to give them a chance before he kills them in the alt version

#

Whilst the og one doesn’t

eternal talon
#

i mean... og "reminded them of their oath"

acoustic ferry
#

Oh yeah ur right

#

Then I don’t see a difference

ionic dune
eternal talon
#

would alt:// have betrayed OG though?

acoustic ferry
#

That is the question

#

But the thing is

ionic dune
acoustic ferry

I know ogs betrayed them, but they didn’t know if the alt team was going to die

That meant losing the cubes

Interviewer
Maybe you just need to go home for a bit? Get away from combat? I see your father is still alive? Perhaps you could visit him--
Hackett
Go home for a bit? What the fuck is wrong with you? Why the fuck would you ask me to go see my father when you have no idea what kind of man he is, or what the fuck I'm going to do to him if I ever see him again? Your job is to shuffle paperwork and make sure the pens don't run out of ink, love. Stick to your fucking lane. Now where do I sign before I run out patience with you?

OG:
Interviewer
Maybe you just need to go home for a bit, get away from combat? I see your father is still alive. Perhaps you could visit hi-
Hackett
No I... can't do that. I got some bad memories from that place. I go back there, I'm pretty sure I'll shoot that fuckin' bastard in the head. (chuckles) Nah... No, I really think that this is the best way. I figure I'm gonna die on one of these missions anyway so, before I cark it, I'm thinkin' that this might be a bit of redemption, y'know? I mean... If I don't know who I am or what I've done, then am I still guilty, y'know? That, maybe if you wipe my fucking brain out I would come back better.
Interviewer
But you won't remember any of this.
Hackett
Look, if you're not gonna take me then just fuckin' tell me, alright? I don't have to be here, y'know.
Interviewer
Yes, of course. Your case is... fascinating. We will take you.
Hackett
Lovely. Good. Let's get on with it then.

Yes. Follow me. End Interview.

not og or alt

R8A2 is set in the nightmare worldline

the warden wants the complex to exist

worn rivet

yeah, at the begining of the outbreak minimizing what it can reach or stopping it would've helped.

like depending where you destroy, could've stopped it's spread for a time

worn rivet

you’d prolly need a couple nukes

Yes

#

I am aware

#

I mentally picture Garganta like Levant Mine

#

Just a lot bigger tbh

eternal talon
#

^ maps

tough wave
#

(Levant Mine)

#

Just some sprawling underground hellscape

#

That keeps going in more directions

eternal talon
#

pretty much.

tough wave
#

Ramped up to sci fi slave labor size

eternal talon
#

the deeper down it is mostly mineshafts

#

further up is living quarters, offices, labs, cafeterias, etc

#

it would easily have a population of over 100k on-site permanently

#

it had 32,000 KSOs

#

that's 3 security officers for every 10 people.

#

that ratio seems a bit high

#

but then again KOVAC moved their headquarters there, to KDS-DEEP

tough wave
#

Tbf I imagine the KSOs existed primarily in their beds

eternal talon
#

so its possible the number is even higher

tough wave
#

Good for storage space solutions

#

Does GTFO ever explain exactly what hydrostasis does

#

Or what like

eternal talon
#

yes

#

hydrostasis essentially functions as follows:

tough wave
#

Conditions have to be promoted inside that pod to create the environment for it?

eternal talon
#

1: you and everything inside is killed (including bacteria that would rot your corpse).
2: you are suspended in amniotic fluid
3: you are pumped with chemicals and otherwise preserved.
4: when needed to be woken, you are "revived" and administered hydrokinetic fluid to prevent your muscles and organs from melting/degrading.

#

that's why it works to kill the virus

tough wave
#

So what part of that kills NAM-V?

eternal talon
#

everything dies.

#

**The breakthrough that Kovac Research hopes will answer these questions
is called Hydrostasis - a process that allows humans to be held in a
state of suspended animation for weeks, months, even years at a time
without suffering any ill-effects. The nuts and bolts of the process
are a closely guarded secret, but sources speculate that the procedure
likely uses a synthetic amniotic fluid to sustain and protect the body
while it is in an induced comatose state. In this state, the body is -
for all intents and purposes - dead, but no cell deterioration or
physical decay occurs. For the human in Hydrostasis, the heart, and
time, stops.
**

eternal talon
#

hydrostasis isn't cryostasis

#

it preserves your corpse then brings you back to life... somehow

tough wave
#

But like

#

Alright

#

So if you're in a pod and they fill it with amniotic fluid that doesn't like "kill you"

#

It would suck

eternal talon
#

but we don't have any records of the pod failing like that

#

(though if it did happen, it'd make sense KOVAC would cover it up)

tough wave
#

So does NAM-V drown with you then?

#

Or

eternal talon
#

like pretty much everything else

eternal talon
#

amniotic fluid is like womb fluid

#

its the same term

#

that babies are in before being born

tough wave
#

Ik, I'm the person you talked to about this entire process before

eternal talon
#

we don't know how it kills you and everything else

#

it just does

tough wave
#

I see

#

So

#

It kills NAM-V and you "somehow"

eternal talon
#

and then only revives you

tough wave
#

In a way that you can't nessecarily properly explore

eternal talon
#

granted, it isn't a cure, and leaving hydrostasis you are likely to immediately get reinfected again

#

if dauda and schaeffer are anything to go by, it'd also forcibly implant you with a KSO control chip

tough wave
#

Also fwiw liquid breathing doesn't nessecarily kill you, just in GTFO it does

eternal talon
#

that and the memory loss... it's not exactly a great solution

tough wave
#

I'm not saying it's the solution per say, but it implies NAM-V either drowns, or dies to some chemical solvent, or can't sustain without a living host

eternal talon
#

we know it can only survive without a host on surfaces for a matter of four weeks

#

it isn't immortal on its own, like it is with the parasite

#

the immortality is something related to their symbiosis

tough wave
#

So you seperate the virus from the host which is simple till things like Pablo

eternal talon
#

yes and no...

#

according to cdc, on the surface at least, it was basically impossible to do so

tough wave
#

Lmfao I got automodded

eternal talon
#

even if your immune system beat it back, the virus would go dormant within you, mutate itself, and hard counter you

tough wave
#

If Kovac wasn't a donkey grim dark sci fi company they'd have just made robots for this

#

What's NAM-V gonna do to a robot?

eternal talon
#

KSOs are basically biological robots. we are slaves, kidnapped from US prisons. they don't care

ionic dune
eternal talon
#

well, thats not entirely true

#

they cared enough that they started working on RISE, because of how fast they were losing KSOs

tough wave
eternal talon
#

but RISE is just making KSOs faster

eternal talon
#

but maintenance would be a bitch

#

because nam-v would just sit on the robots for a month before anybody could get close to them

tough wave
#

Would it really be more of a bitch then using a human body? Whether or not GTFO acknowledges it Bishop is gonna need knee replacements and neosporin shots

eternal talon
#

both suck

#

i'm not sure which sucks more

tough wave
#

The one that proves to be a suitable host

eternal talon
#

right, but how do you know a robot is safe?

tough wave
#

I get why Kovac is the way it is

#

For atmosphere and lore

eternal talon
#

you'd have to clearly identify each robot as each, and...

#

you couldn't make them all look the same

tough wave
#

Why not?

eternal talon
#

that's a disaster waiting to happen

#

i thought it was clean!

tough wave
#

Sharpie numbers on their heads

eternal talon
#

this one was one that was in the infected zone yesterday!

#

i didn't know!

ionic dune
eternal talon
#

they didn't.

#

when a KSO was unusable, they salvaged it

#

cut it up, used the organs for transplants,

#

stored the meat in freezers

#

if you can't fight, you get recycled

#

we aren't humans in the eyes of kovac

#

we are tools.

tough wave
#

How is that functionally different from using a robot except for the fact that you want to use people

#

Kovac was just run by a moron tbh

ionic dune
#

you dont need to spend resources to code it and stuff, less prone to buggs

eternal talon
#

idk. you could argue some moral reason, using inmates

#

whereas robots werent ever evil

tough wave
eternal talon
#

the overwhelming majority of KSOs were US prison inmates and undesirables.

tough wave
eternal talon
#

our quad are mostly a band of outliers

tough wave
#

Whatever someone did in prison it isn't morally worse then what kovac is doing to people

#

Qualifying anything as "undesirable" then taking its right to do anything is uh

#

Morally reprehensible

eternal talon
#

i used the term undesirables mostly for cases like bishop

#

the in-lore answer is inmates

ionic dune
# tough wave Just gotta wait years for one

sort of, prisons are filled with people and sure you have to "break" them but its easier than coding a robot (then comes the question to if you could copy paste the code), also cheaper which in the eyes of kovac is prolly what they want

#

theyd prolly get paid by prisons to take their inmates

eternal talon
#

its passive

#

just don't lose power

ionic dune
eternal talon
#

(not a joke, that is how it works in the US)

ionic dune
#

yea ik

#

watched a documentary about it during english class like three years ago

eternal talon
#

slave labor is still legal in the US... the exception written is for inmates

#

like, straight up

#

it makes sense kovac would get their slaves from here

ionic dune
#

i think we watched the same documentary lol

eternal talon
ionic dune
#

oh

#

nvm then

eternal talon
ionic dune
#

average US moment (everything for profit)

eternal talon
#

its genuinely awful

ionic dune
#

yea

eternal talon
#

there is a reason why the US has the highest prison population in the world

tough wave
#

Then they'd combust down there and Musk would pretend it's fine

ionic dune
#

when profit meets living standards

tough wave
eternal talon
#

in latin, officiarius, from official

tough wave
#

Weird when you consider that along with the predominantly black youth imprisoned in America

#

Or yes the fact that prisoners are used as free labor to make all sorts of textiles and other things in America

#

I am acutely aware of this country's issues tbh

gtfo's story is predominately built on capitalist greed... and idiocy

Nah ill take that as an answer for why they do what they do

Boston Dynamics would've diffed the hell outta GTFO tho

the merida earthquake, burning of the red cross workers,

digging too deep for billions of dollars of iridium,

Chappie solos

ignoring quarantine procedures,

#

hell, dr. richtofer losing his eye after trying to force an artifact into a crusher

#

idiots all around

eternal talon
#

**Incident Description

Artifacts taken from L18-AT06 were delivered to the MSL for analysis. After cataloging the samples and performing several surface scans, myself and Dr. Richtofer agreed that the material was unknown to us and proper analysis required breaking one of the artifacts down so a full spectroscopy could be performed. Dr. Richtofer placed one of the artifacts into the Jaw Crusher. The machine, though functioning perfectly well, had no effect on the artifact at all. It remained intact and untarnished despite the crusher operating at full power.

Dr. Richtofer attempted to force the sample into the crusher, but in doing so the artifacts lodged between the crusher plates, causing the mechanism to overload. The hydraulic hoses driving the vibrating plate shattered, and the flying debris hit Dr. Richtofer in the left eye, causing a globe luxation.

We replaced the Doctor’s eye as quickly as possible, but it is likely that his vision will be lost, The artifact remains unbroken.

Actions taken after the incident

Dr. Richtofer has been placed on medical recovery (on-site). A new crusher has been ordered. The artifacts have been sent to SMC headquarters off-site for further analysis.**

how does one "open" an artifact?

Fun fact, globe luxation is a nice way to say "eyeball hanging out"

eternal talon

have a closer look next time you play

You can see it inside em actually, if you have good eyes or a thermal scope

It's not like we're getting an answer anyway

eternal talon

no, likely not.

tough wave
#

I really wish the devs kept with it for like

#

2 more rundowns?

eternal talon
#

DoW likely exists somewhere in the gtfo multiverse.

tough wave
#

The rundowns only get better as I actually play through them chronologically, and I'd like a bit more lore

eternal talon
#

i'd be surprised if we don't get easter eggs

i wished they made a bit easier lor efocused

the original rundowns, the orig...

#

oh okay.

tough wave

I know what it was originally like

#

The OGs felt like uh

#

Trial and error segments for them?

eternal talon
#

r7 is the last remaining rundown of the original worldline still in the game

#

though all of og is still canon

ionic dune
#

and left side of r8?

tough wave
#

Yeah, multiverse stuff

eternal talon
#

yeah, but r8 is 🍝

tough wave
#

Can I say I hate multiverse stuff?

eternal talon
#

i wouldn't consider it OG or alt://

ionic dune
#

nightmare lol

eternal talon
#

it was all background lore stuff with the collectors and how they got here and what they were up to

#

destination, while a different worldline, was mainly just a different planet

tough wave
#

I just don't like mutliverses as a prevalent plot device, they feel like the sci fi equivalent of "magic" nowadays

eternal talon
#

it could have existed in our universe and the only thing that would change would be the time

eternal talon
#

easier to explain plot holes.

tough wave
#

Yes

ionic dune
#

why does some infected become shooters, some chargers, some pablo etc?

tough wave
#

I like hard sci fi a lot more then soft sci fi

eternal talon

  1. depends on the host, their physical biomass, genetics, etc

**### Entry: Gallus {genus}
Poss. intro? fix end bit
/quote
There are cross-species behavioral distinctions that separate all species within the genus. The dark-skinned variants tend to be more active hunters, suggesting the darker pigmentation is a product of natural selection. They are harder to see and therefore more successful predators. The light skinned breed are still vicious and will attack at the slightest provocation, but they do not seek the prey as actively, they are more disposed to sedentary, almost somnific, behavior. They wait, and strike when roused.
/quote

Entry: Gallus Reptus

Paragraph on:

  • Reptus show little signs of intelligence beyond their predatory instincts. Clarify the intraspecific devolution theory?
  • possibility of structured hierarchy among the pack, and the role of Reptus in that hierarchy
  • possibility that Reptus are a post-metamorphic stage of Jaculus? Note no confirmed sightings of Jaculus in a pupal state.
  • NEED DNA SAMPLE

Entry: Gallus Jaculus

  • more intelligent than Reptus, or given a more strategic role in the hive?
  • what are the implications of emergent intelligence.
  • potential human connection/influence. Mimicry or symbiont relationship with parasite?
  • remove that woman from the team

Entry: Gallus Capreolatus

Name options:

  • Capreolatus
  • Cirrhus
  • Pampinarii
  • Clavicula
    Discuss tendril hypotheses :
  • diphyllobothrium latum mimicry?
  • siphonophore/zooids theory
  • NEED DNA SAMPLE

Gallus Horridus

  • advanced predation techniques
  • purpose of keratinous growths unclear. does it charge under threat?
  • NEED DNA SAM**

there are exceptions,

Oh

eternal talon

oh

#

i didn't read all the way

tough wave
#

"Animal"

eternal talon
#

reproductive anatomy is fairly minor

tough wave
#

Siphonophores are stupidly cool, if you're unaware of them

ionic dune
eternal talon
#

for male/female strikers/shooters it is most likely due to physiology, due to changes from hormones etc

eternal talon
#

one of the three leads of insight

tough wave
#

Without also getting into like

#

The philosophy of what makes people people

eternal talon
#

its like, big and muscular? giant/chicken/hybrid!

#

tanks and mothers aren't entirely natural mutations

#

there are inklings that partially dauda is responsible

tough wave
#

Iirc mother's are multiple people

#

So are tanks

#

Very dead spacey, tbh

eternal talon
# tough wave Iirc mother's are multiple people

two humans fused, yes. one male one female, the male serving like an angler fish, pretty much nothing but for sperm so the mother can breed shit tons of little ones that get infected by parasites in the womb. dark stuff

tough wave
#

That is kinda how I assumed that happened

#

It's logical

eternal talon
eternal talon
#

just the thought of that really brings out the horror

tough wave
#

Do mom's have more then one?

eternal talon
tough wave
#

Head

eternal talon
#

not that i recall.

#

if it did, it would be on the underside

#

the male makes up the back legs and is sorta mostly dissolved/repurposed biomass wise

#

the mother is the front legs, head, and "wings"

tough wave
eternal talon
#

it is really a LOT like angler fish

#

the male is much smaller and becomes vestigial

tough wave
tough wave
#

I'm like, stupidly into biology but mainly marine bio

eternal talon
#

mothers are two.

tough wave
#

What makes tanks tanks then?

#

Or we don't know

eternal talon
#

we don't know details because...

#

he's a KSO now

#

he can't tell us

#

and didn't make many recordings

tough wave
#

Tbf GTFO has a stark lack of details on these things

eternal talon
#

he has nightmares about his research tho

#

a couple logs about those

tough wave
#

They wouldn't tell you anyway

tough wave
eternal talon
#

hm?

tough wave
#

Maybe dauda should've stopped at some point

eternal talon
#

oh, yeah. he was a fucking monster.

#

lemme get those logs rq

Actually

**BISHOP, FRANK GO-1395
A lifetime ago, Frank Bishop made a losing bet.

I'd have to know who he was doing it to tbh

eternal talon
#

we have no idea.

tough wave

Frank Bishop might infact be a moral Paragon if it's the right people

eternal talon
#

that first bit is only mentioned in this text blurb

tough wave
#

Jude Akuwudike killed it as Dauda tbh

tough wave
eternal talon
#

morally bishop is the best, yes.

tough wave
#

And we'd be better off if Dauda went postal one day

eternal talon
#

killed half of the insight lab? eh.

#

hammerstein was a duche

#

but i think durant and stokes were pretty alright

tough wave
eternal talon
#

durant (in alt://) left to the jungle world. he and his team ended up the last living humans from the merged worldliines

#

durant (in og) died with his team on destination

tough wave
#

And before Durant did any of those things he was furthering Kovac's end goals, which end goaled Earth.

#

Which makes him a net negative on the planet

ionic dune
eternal talon
#

to be fair, insight was called in by dreyfus after santonian had already dug into the ship

eternal talon
#

only bishop returned.

#

actually,

#

i dont think that log mentioned the floaters...

#

i remember it being weird

#

let me see if i can find it

ionic dune

is floaters meatballs?

tough wave
#

Iirc yeah

eternal talon
#

what the fuck... where the hell is this log

#

is the wiki missing one?

ionic dune
#

lol mb, started a treasure hunt

#

am like an NPC, gave frostty side mission

it was one of (two) logs talking about durant's expedition on destination

where the fuck was the other one

which log is it?

eternal talon

the one regarding hammerstein and co hiding in caves

talking about being picked off one by one

i'm trying keyword searches but can't find it

i remember talking about it a loooooooooooooooong time ago because the creatures in it seemed too intelligent to be floaters/infected

thanks 2022 artek

i'm gonna find this damn log!

😠

here is a bit from it: ""They took Peterson yesterday while we were resting in a cave. They must have been watching us all along. It’s possible that they’re using hunting strategies or at least they work together to… to… ""

#

from 2022 artek

#

where the fuck is the full log!?

#

This is Dr. James Durant. This may be my last entry from EF01. Only myself, Alice and all of the security officers are still alive; and I’m fairly sure that our survival is not their primary objective. They are protecting the data first, then us. Bishop keeps moving us but the creatures always find us. Even in the pitch black they can locate us with ease. They took Peterson yesterday while we were resting in a cave. They must have been watching us all along. We had the entrance guarded and a rock wall to our backs but they still just… [breathing] plucked him out the middle of us. It’s possible that they’re using hunting strategies or at least they work together to… to… [clears throat]. We are going to die here. That much is clear. We’ve lost the Quantum Tether to Garganta, and despite scanning the entire frequency range, there’s no signal. Control must be searching for us from their end but well heh… We don’t fully understand the Matter Wave Projector; damn fools. I have pleaded with Bishop to return to the landing zone because maybe there the original tether frequency will still work; he refuses. He just repeats his objective: Explore and cover as much ground as possible and wait until Control instantiates a Matter Wave for our return. Clearly, that’s not gonna happen but you can’t talk to him. You can’t talk to any of them. They’re robots.

#

^ i found it @ionic dune @tough wave

i had to go to the fucking github

bishop wasn't a part of our team then.

he was assigned to a different quad.

ionic dune

and that squad was among others durant?

eternal talon

durant, a dozen scientists, and a quad for escort.

he wouldn't remember any of it regardless.

you mentioned that dauda had nightmares, am i correct to assume that was before hydrostasis?

the audio logs i posted way above

Gtfo's characters are strange.

coral gorge
worn rivet
#

Well psycho, murder, sociopath, stupid.

ionic dune
#

They’re just silly

#

Also bishop saw an opportunity and took it

worn rivet
#

He did alot of crimes/stuff that is morally grey at best.

ionic dune
worn rivet
#

Yeah that guy.

ionic dune
#

Yea he saw an opportunity to blackmail and gain stuff but didn’t go that well

#

(Joking btw)

worn rivet
ionic dune
#

I’d consider it by a large margin if he didn’t do the murdering part, still not a good person

worn rivet
#

Yeah, if your counting before gtfo's events/kso

ionic dune
#

He’s someone i wouldn’t be very uncomfortable with taking a drink, the rest I’m very uncomfortable with

ionic dune

ionic dune

Well

Not including abaiding a criminal, the other 3, during a crime.

ionic dune
#

Nvm then

worn rivet
#

No matter how you put it, he still commited at least 3 to 4 crimes, not including whatever interdimanisnoal ones he broke.

ionic dune
#

Yea doesn’t sound too good on his resume

Almost dead bodies?

# ionic dune Almost dead bodies?

During the og teams escape/fucking full force sprint from the complex during r8e2, after betraying alt team for the datacubes they had spent their entire half getting only to die in a sick last stand where they all embrace death and say their goodbyes to the ones near them, they activate a teleporter using the MWP and escape bringing along with them a ton of hsu's containing the half dead bodies of multiple kso's (fun fact the area we enter during r8e1 at the end is the same area just had the main area ripped out.)

#

It's got a name, ahh yes kds deep.

#

So yes mass kidnapping of almost dead bodies.

ionic dune
#

Oh

#

Well

Fair enough ig

Mr. Clinton,

As I mentioned in our original discussion (I have attached the Hearsay recording for your review), the Santonian employee contract is very clear on the punishment for entering restricted areas. Kovac Defensive Services have a comprehensive contract with both the Santonian Mining Company and the Mexican government that allows Kovac to establish martial law and “administrative punitive consequence” over any person within the exclusion zone. This is not just a company contract, it is national law.

All workers at Garganta and the surrounding area agree to these regulations when they sign their contract.

the vault is slightly different

#

if that is due to redesign or whatnot, i am unsure

#

r8e2's vault is much expanded.

ionic dune
#

R5e1 looks menacing in like a ”hero” way whilst r8e2 looks menacing in a ”villainous” way

eternal talon
#

r8e2 is our valiant escape.

ionic dune
#

Huh, why didn’t the warden throw 24K KSOs at the same time to achieve their goal?

eternal talon
#

it might not have 24,000.

#

32,000 is just the total maximum capacity of garganta

#

8k outside deep, and 24k within

#

a considerable number probably died during the fall

#

regardless, we do conduct expeditions with other teams

#

r6c3 is a good example

#

us serving as a distraction for another team

ionic dune
#

Fair

eternal talon
#

as to why the warden didn't drop you in to r8e1 with several thousand KSOs as backup, i can't say.
other than 10cc not developing GTFO with npcs in mind

#

and performance reasons

ionic dune
#

Yea

#

Also prolly very chaotic

royal crow
ionic dune
#

And don’t think the ksos were trained to work in terms of armies

royal crow
#

Just get out the actual important people

#

The others can fuck off

eternal talon
#

why are we the "actual important people"?

#

especially after schaeffer died?

ionic dune

I still dont know why we are considered important with schaeffer, might come later in r6-r7

royal crow
#

Being realistic we are the ones that actually got a chance to survive

and yet leaving is futile given nam-v

it'd take days if not weeks of prep for a sterile environment

# eternal talon R5e1

I meant the area in r8e1 where we go through the door and see the place aflame and falling apart, I think is the area from r8e2

#

Cause we go through the door after the hold out while the cubes go through and boom, wreckage.

ionic dune
#

"dealing with them" is them being put in HSU to not remember what happened or just straight up killed?

eternal talon
#

schaeffer's ID is C067.

#

and he wasn't killed or HSU'd.

#

schaeffer and phil decker.

ionic dune
#

oh ok
