Both are cutie pies
she has really really short legs.
it's impossible not to laugh when she tries to jump
she's built like a wiener dog
Does this sometimes
No but dedicated for only cats
Sometimes I wonder just how big this server was for there to be so many different chats
it's an old game.
And the ones I have customized to be in always are white
Kinda
On the daily someone at least posts in pets or food, all of the GTFO chats usually are posted every hour or so, GTFO general and help is more frequent and tech and wiki I’ve not been paying attention to
why does 71d1 have overload but not secondary?
bc their idea of overloads for the game were "adding a modifier to the expeditions"
so the current overload didnt fit secondary in their eyes
i don't think this is true, and is more likely to be conjecture from a bunch of people in the community
I was told this by the devs
and even then, half of it is just error alarms which isn't too much of a modifier
BUT R4B2 B3 WHAT THE FUCK
ah yes going and finding 5 osips surely modifies this mission
doing 2 s1 scans, an alarm, a blood door, and a terminal command surely modifies this mission
r4c2 c3 it just starts error alarms
but thats what they said to me
r4d2 is another error alarm
tbh i can't remember r4a2, that was another error alarm wasn't it
and so is r4a3
then for r5 uhhh
r5a2, much modifier
r5a3 i guess was the fog that's pretty meaningless
b1 was a reactor
b2, more fucking osips
c2 was thunderdome
so ya it doesn't stick exceptionally well
What does “adding a modifier” mean?
Like, doing secondary changes Main route? Like adding/removing fog/gas, error alarm, darkness?
Also I think you meant to say secondaries, right? Cause in R4B2 Variscite Sec Obj starts error that lasts the entire level. I think R5A2 sec obj turns off the lights for the whole level. Although I guess R4C3 Overload starts constant charger wave after HSU scan. Or did I mix that up with secondary?
Maybe I should stop idk
No i meant to say overload
i think they just didnt really stick to it that well
Yeah I was getting confused thinking about it. Been watching a lot of recordings lately and was like “this one fits, this one fits, that one doesn’t, wait, is that sec or over?”
Do woods and co know before they get teleported that they will get teleported for the first time? Their reaction seems non existent
the lines got eliminated
they used to have dialogues
Does chatter reborn have the lines?
I listen thru that and uhh still seemed very like ”woah that happened, let’s continue like nothings unusual”
isnt there two lines one for going and one for coming back
but for example woods breathes heavily and says like "God bless us..."
maybs hackett just doesnt give a shit
And then ”did everyone get back” for woods
And that was all I heard when I manually imputed it
Is it cuz I didn’t get the rest of the lines from the bots?
Also fair enough on that part
I’d expected there to be like a ” where are we” type moment where they’re all talking to each other 🤷♂️
tbh thats not much this game either
but idk how the mod works so im not sure if ur missin lines
So far I’ve only gotten woods lines which is unfortunate as I think I need others with same mod to get the rest of the lines, also fair enough but it did feel quite tame
ur also in a team of 4 so consider ur groups own reactions on top
the voiceline there is moreso supposed to add to ur banter, ur own groups banter
while lines on r8 r7 are story focused for ur group to pay attention to
Oh fair, forgot for a sec that this is in fact a group effort game lol
No
Thats just an earthquake caused by the long time crashed ship
After that earthquake a massive deposit of idk what element was discovered
Thats when and why Garganta was built
indium lmao
Thats one hell of a name
All of these lines eliminated because “they didn’t want lore forced on them”
What a bunch of bullsh
Im still figuring out how having character voice lines is forcing lore
Ignoring those door sections
Im still trying to figure out why they botched all the R6 lines
which where legit really cool
Which had mandatory 5 min logs or whatever
But they could have just added triggers that played them whilst you were just exploring
Now no one’s gonnna listen
I mean, i kinda got used to the logs on terminals formula
but some could be in the middle of the level
especially the Scheaffer ones
And I’m still figuring out who is this part of the player base that complained about that
Im yet to find one
it's a real element
but it was iridium here iirc
Can I play with others with the chatter reborn mod?
Yes
removed, or never implemented? either way people probably don't have an accurate answer
Removed
voice lines... i know in r5, at least, each character had a couple for their and others backstory logs...
so like 16
but i don't really know more than that.
A few of them were replaced when the alt:// rundowns came out, I believe
Or maybe when the voice command system was implemented ? Around 1.0 ?
some people if i had to guess, prefered roleplaying as their ksos
and didn't want a characterized story
remember, back in ogr1-ogr2, there was practically zero identifiable information about the characters
The idea behind the character chatter during gameplay was not bad, but it was quite hard for it to hit home
they were just inserts
and in regards to people not talking about it, it's an old, mostly settled issue.
it is what it is
Yea confused them cuz I thought it was a real element
both iridium and indium are real elements
this game, in its incredibly tiny niche, sells itself as a super hard coop pve experience
Oh well, I blame them sounding the same then lol
people i don't think came to it for the story ala dark souls, but the uniqueness
i can't tell you how many times remembering borderlands has fucked that up for people
there was something about an unknown substance being named something or other 77a iirc
but i couldn't tell you about that
cretasum 77a
or cretasium 77a
one of the two
ah
it is a partially iridium alloy.
I’ve only heard of indium until today so that’s why I thought it was indium
hyper strong alien metal
the ship's hull is made out of it.
it's what was detected on deep scans
i think the artifacts are also partially made of it
but dont quote me on that one
Cretasium 77a
The silicon resin does temporarily block the jump defect, so that has helped. It decays pretty quickly as the Cretasium eats through it, but it means we actually can touch the artifacts at least.
We’re looking into the possibility that the behavior of the artifacts may be inhibited or regulated in some manner by Cretasium 77A. It has been found in large quantities throughout the fossil and it’s the only material that does not disappear when introduced to the… hello? Hello? Dr. Hammerstein? Uhm… where was I? Uh… pause recording.
So, I took it upon myself to conduct a physical inspection of our FO network, and have found something I can't explain. In several locations (schematics attached) the optical cables have somehow enmeshed with the surrounding rock. I don't know much about geology, but the rock looks crystalline to me. Perhaps this is the Cretasium substance I have heard about? Whatever it is, it is enmeshing itself with the BIOCOM network infrastructure and affecting ping times. The system is running fine, but I thought you should know. I don't see how it could be considered a security risk, but there are places where our physical network is - for want of a better word - vulnerable.
Is this why you can’t ping across zones?
no, this is how biocom supposedly "hacked into" biocom.
all of the bulkheads were sealed far later.
oh
i can't read
😭🙏 me when
Its a fair theory in my mind, only question is why query would work but not ping 🤔
We need to erase everything off the datacubes before we write new navigation components to them. Project Insight research indicates datacubes contain magnetized Cretasium platters and are susceptible to intense magnetic fields. That means a degausser should wipe all data on them.
It seems they didn’t know what to do with the characters and so when they realized they needed to have character development we already were at r6
r5, but yeah
Also id they’re inserts why even name them?
nonono
Why aren’t they just random prisioneirs
i'm saying they were treated as inserts by the community,
Is ALT r5 the first lore focused?
i'm not speaking for 10cc
Oh ok
even back then we knew bishop wrote code for the santonian industries website, and a couple other minor things
just not genuine backstories
that'd come far later
Did the Facebook page come later?
all we really had? was the official character descriptions
i'm entirely unfalimiar with this so cannot say.
i'm assuming the single-paragraph character discriptions were released extremely early on.
** BISHOP, FRANK GO-1395
A lifetime ago, Frank Bishop made a losing bet. He’d robbed, kidnapped, and trafficked in a bid for fortune and power.
This time, it was blackmail, but things didn’t go to plan. His target turned the tables, condemning him to years of brutal captivity.
The torture and deprivation he endured ended with Bishop suffering an even worse fate: Hydrostasis.
Now, unable to remember the man who destroyed him, he’s left with only the rage and mistrust that sustained his tragic existence.
HACKETT, AIDEN O-4711
The first person to admit Hackett isn’t cut out for this world is Hackett. Even as a child, his feral mind was a deadly force.
When he joined the military, discipline loosened the grip of his dark impulses, but nature always finds a way.
Inevitably, Hackett’s instinctive cruelty was unleashed on a peacekeeping mission that couldn’t have gone more wrong.
Clear-eyed about his actions, Hackett knew that redemption would cost him life as he knew it.
WOODS, ISAIAH F-2056
Isaiah Woods was a religious man of honor and courage who saw too much.
The brutality of combat changed him from a spiritual man to a ticking time bomb.
When his fuse finally burned down, he went on a rampage and justified it as divine retribution for the evils he saw around him.
Even now, with no memory of the carnage he wrought, he feels the presence of God flowing through him. Some fires burn too deep to smother.
DAUDA, ABEO T-3701
A brilliant young mind. A groundbreaking researcher. A pillar of the scientific community.
Nigerian-born psychopharmacologist Abeo Dauda was all of those things before his obsessive ambition broke his moral compass.
Dauda’s blindness to the human cost of his experiments made him indispensable to unscrupulous drug companies.
As long as they stayed out of his way, he didn’t question them.
By the time he realized the depravity of the people he worked for, it was too late.
**
I think there’s a command in the terminals that brings up a Facebook page
Even without remembering anything the og team still manage to be terrible people
Can’t remember if it was bishop or dauda though
FB was bishop
Aight
Don’t they have the same/very similar backstories (also they lose their memory after hydrostasis, and yea there’s a reason they’re in a prison)
by the tiniest margin
Did alt ever know they were talking to another Shaffer that was coordinating some other team?
Wasn’t it based on how they are when we are playing?
Before the Schaefer’s died
And when OG abandons alt?
yeah, the logs, as you mentioned, have minor differences, which could be argued to be more or less morale
but its roughly even
only a slight difference\
they are the same people, after all
Woods is still a psycho?
Aren’t all of them? (Maybe not bishop depends on if he’s actually guilty)
Woods
I know. I knew before you did. I am going where he needs me. I will be ready. When the plague comes, I shall be rescued from the lion's mouth, and he will lead us from the darkness. For though there may be many of me, he is one.
Interviewer
Well, we’ll see won’t we?
Woods
I will see. You will die.
Interviewer
And those marines were the enemy?
Woods
Yes! Or… Listen, I knew every one of them. Apostles of the devil, to a man. They celebrated it, rejoiced in the chaos of their deeds. I did give them a last chance to hear the word before their judgment, but they chose to remain deaf.
Interviewer
Did they laugh at you?
Woods
They did not seek forgiveness. That is what matters.
Isn’t that him being psychic?
him knowing future events, yeah
Eagle said psycho
thats this one.
Are those the two different logs from alt and og?
og:
Recruiter
Hmm. (deep breath) And those marines, I suppose they were the enemy.
Woods
Yes, I spoke to them, each and every one when they arrived in Larnica. These men reveled in the chaos. I reminded them to their oath to the lord, but they could not hear me.
Recruiter
(breath) Did they, didn't do nothing?
Woods
They offended GOD! I found them to be lost and without hope! The godless, on the slaves, on which upon hell is built. The godless have forgotten the commandment, the godless FEED the Devil! The question is, why weren't you there to kill them?
both from alt
#gtfo-lore message and #gtfo-lore message are og/alt versions of the same log, well, a snippet of it
i can post the full audio if you want
The main difference is that woods seems to give them a chance before he kills them in the alt version
Whilst the og one doesn’t
i mean... og "reminded them of their oath"
Its mainly that og betrays alt
would alt:// have betrayed OG though?
I do not remember lol, only that one did the other
I know ogs betrayed them, but they didn’t know if the alt team was going to die
That meant losing the cubes
Wait which side of r8 is alt and which is og?
left is alt:// right is OG
Cuz it’s right side abandons left side
Iirc*
E2 is on right side?
And E2 abandons to get out no?
apparently cant type either
@acoustic ferry ALT://
Interviewer
Maybe you just need to go home for a bit? Get away from combat? I see your father is still alive? Perhaps you could visit him--
Hackett
Go home for a bit? What the fuck is wrong with you? Why the fuck would you ask me to go see my father when you have no idea what kind of man he is, or what the fuck I'm going to do to him if I ever see him again? Your job is to shuffle paperwork and make sure the pens don't run out of ink, love. Stick to your fucking lane. Now where do I sign before I run out patience with you?
Interviewer
Yes, of course. Follow me. End interview.
The nightmare path is not helping with my confusion
OG:
Interviewer
Maybe you just need to go home for a bit, get away from combat? I see your father is still alive. Perhaps you could visit hi-
Hackett
No I... can't do that. I got some bad memories from that place. I go back there, I'm pretty sure I'll shoot that fuckin' bastard in the head. (chuckles) Nah... No, I really think that this is the best way. I figure I'm gonna die on one of these missions anyway so, before I cark it, I'm thinkin' that this might be a bit of redemption, y'know? I mean... If I don't know who I am or what I've done, then am I still guilty, y'know? That, maybe if you wipe my fucking brain out I would come back better.
Interviewer
But you won't remember any of this.
Hackett
Look, if you're not gonna take me then just fuckin' tell me, alright? I don't have to be here, y'know.
Interviewer
Yes, of course. Your case is... fascinating. We will take you.
Hackett
Lovely. Good. Let's get on with it then.
Interviewer
Yes. Follow me. End Interview.
with what
Does alt betray OG?
Oooooh you meant like that yea mb I misinterpreted ur question
the plot can't continue if the characters are dead
Im thinking if I should do it or spoil it for myself
its a horrific spin on the evaluation
Apparently I can’t read either, thought you meant alt betrayed og😭
Huh
not much else
I might go and do it if I can complete it with bots
Don’t think people generally go for that secondary
bring at least one scattergun.
That scattergun is gonna be on me
Cuz fuck the bots respectfully
Friendly fire as if we look like sleepers
Seems like OG is controlling his emotions better
Also prolly gonna take two months or so to get good enough to actually do that level but idk, I put a lot of prestige on higher rundowns rather than the tiers (even tho it’s not working like that)
Alt seems much more aggressive
Nightmare path?
Apparently r8a2 secondary is a diff path, team dies on it so yanno it just start and stops there
I think it’s the alt
Iirc r8a2 is on the left side
But alt is essential for OG and OG is essential for alt
afaik r8a2 sec is a completely different timeline
not og or alt
Eh, neither worldline 'exists' anymore as of r8, they've all merged into one, but yes
R8A2 is set in the nightmare worldline
I don't think it's fully merged with the others into r8 at this point, like destination wasn't
So the teleport is justifiable
Fair
But they split from alt right?
I believe the general consesus is that nightmare is just another team
WIth no particular inclination towards either OG or ALT
Oh so when they drop it’s another team?
Afaik they simply aren't part of the discussion as a team that really interacts with the lore outside of that one mission
Since you know, at the end they do die
One of the Moderators that is Close to devs described it as "What If Prisoners took a wrong Turn"
Fair enough (I have trust issues with you specifically)

Fair
riddle me this, in R8B3 we hear the B2 Dialoge First, but how can it be First If we have Not accuired the DCs From B1 yet
Unless, its Not in real time, but a pre prepared recording that we have triggered
Yeah its an issue
Its wrongly done
Pretty squishy metal, can chew it as well
oh yea thats why i remember it lol
Time anomly would be the best explantion i can give.
me when the devs themselves get confused about their timeline and fuck shit up
my theory was the data cube travel between b1 and b2 changed our times
idk red world shenanigan
the log with a guy locking himself in an HSU, is he Schaeffer and who is Art?
Do you have a voice clip for it or was it a text log.
both, ill send the text log
Okay, i will be able to figure it out from their
or well, i dont have a recording software
1 is henrikson, not likely but it could be, 2 and 3 are the 2 versions of schaffer, most likely option.
He's orignal schaffers assitant, who's control chip schaffer deactivated, and in r8 after saying he will help the prisoners cause of the meltdown plab, got beaten to death with a metal pipe.
wasnt the guy that got beaten to death in r7a1 or was that a diff person?
In the last mission we hear him, you can find his id covered in blood and the pipe in a room nearby where the audio plays, also the next mission schaffer says "Henrikson! Henrikson! Oh yes, Well what's done is done start the test prisoners." From my knowledge, no that's the wardens conduit
oh ok tyty, it did sound like him
does woods say "alright got no surprises" or "alright god, no surprises" when he enters a room? (no bio on woods)
does he sound to have a british accent or a diffrent kind of one.
hes the one we are playing as
woods is a northamerican man
Then it's not bishop, so maybe
also woods is the only one that believes in a god so yanno
that is a good point, probably is woods
also its or that i was asking not whom
huh
idk if its "alright got no surprises" or "alright god, no surprises"
Second one fits the god aspect with him being relgous and all of that, first onehmm.
yea cuz i can make sense of both, its just which one it is that im pondering over
I wonder if radation can effect those turned by the parasite and NAM-V
I would love to get my hands on a version of the virus that cant kill to see what it could do to creatures.
Imagine the potential
The advancments
Dauda is that you lol?
schaeffer
Hammerstein
IT'd be fun
I wonder why the warden or schaffer didnt try and blow the complex up instead of whatever plans they were running on.
like a solid chunk of their problems would've been solved
wdym
the warden wants the complex to exist
or atleast, for the time being
If not all of it even a little bit of the complex being gone would've stopped alot of stuff.
and alt scheaffer wanted to save himself and others from nam-v, which the surface is also kinda fucked
i mean… when? Like at the very beginning of the outbreak?
aso just as a side note, you would prolly need a fully size nuke to blow up the complex
its city sized after all
yeah, at the begining of the outbreak minimizing what it can reach or stopping it would've helped.
like depending where you destroy, could've stopped it's spread for a time
i suppose the warden needed the equipment
Also in OG the warden does manage to limit the spread of nam-v
or atleast the parasite
which doesnt escape in OG
That parasite that bonded with NAM-V is intresting
yeah thats a very interesting thing
Also pretty cool
makes it way more interesting that its 2 diffrent things, so you can have nam-v without the parasite and vice-versa
I do not think nuking a underground facility with a virus would actually help
Chances of it getting out are high
Even if they did
overall, the best they could count for was to burry the complex
It would still get out eventually
Place a giant rock in front like the Mayans did with the ship
Problem solved
you would have to hope that:
All sleepers get turned to ash
The parasite is dead
And nam-v dies out on its own
Considering how Nam-V survived billions of years, i don't think some radiation will kill it
Or even die on its own
At all
Its a virus
Without a host it WILL die
eventually
eventually
and radiation should ensure no new hosts enter the environment
(except possibly humans)
we know it dies without an alive host due to HSU
where the pod „kills” you, so nam-v also dies
Yeah but what i wanted to say is that it dies in 5 weeks on the environment without any external influence
I forgot if it was 5 weeks or not
I dont remember ngl
i think 5 weeks was the time it takes to kill a person?
frosty would have to answer that
Or atleast, not perfect
you’d prolly need a couple nukes
since i imagine nukes have a way smaller radius of damage when detonated underground
- high risk and whatnot
Tbh it would Just make the entire structure collapse, crushing everything under the weighth of the earth
I doubt anything under the destructive explosion of a nuke could destroy the sheer size of garganta and it's levels
at its prime, probably. but since it is a swiss cheese because of those shafts, it is much less stable
you'd need much bigger given it is underground.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underground_nuclear_weapons_testing
Underground nuclear testing is the test detonation of nuclear weapons that is performed underground. When the device being tested is buried at sufficient depth, the nuclear explosion may be contained, with no release of radioactive materials to the atmosphere.
The extreme heat and pressure of an underground nuclear explosion cause changes in the...
we do not.
but i'd think humanity would try anything to kill it, including radiation therapy
(ala cancers)
i suppose it'd depend on the level of radiation
but ultimately we don't know.
pretty much
it did so with the parasite, and sleepers. hosts from within the ship, and the destination infected had the floaters/kraken
it is fatal within 5 weeks. it can live on surfaces for... let me actually check that
subjects exposed to locations that had been contaminated up to 4 weeks prior to exposure still
contracted the virus.
so slightly less.
about a month
me when the dog
Didn’t it survive in space?
Inside of Aliens who were on a ship (afaik), it prolly has increased radiation resistance but barely anything living is safe from extreme radiation
For a time on the drifting derelict, yes, but the ship was likely still mostly pressurized until it crashed
The Complex is under the ocean/gulf of mexico partially, isn't it?
yes/no
Garganta's main entrance, where the dig started, is just outside of the town of Ixil
the complex was dug straight down from this point, probably with elevators, horizontal lifts, trams, etc
and it continued this way for a long time
Isn't Ixil right on the Yucatan peninsula?
after hammerstein's expedition triggered the blasts and the holes were opened up,
Yeah, it is
there are hundreds of holes. most either breached the surface (where there was land) or stopped just short of the seabed (under the sea)
one of these holes under the sea, a few kilometers off the coast, would become the new primary entrance
I think your best move would be flooding Garganta, if you want to destroy it.
with sea walls built up and helipads/buildings, that portion of the ocean floor would be drained, and the hole exposed
that is the hole where the daylight team etc entered the complex.
of all exposed holes, most had infrastructure built into them to make moving cargo and personnel easier
these are the holes/loading screens we drop into the complex in
maybe, but that carries risks aswell
nam-v already made it to the UK via ocean currents
Oh, sure.
Destroying the place in any regard is like, unfeasible in that manner
in ~2059, the warden sealed all of the exterior bulkheads/doors.
Nam V is super invulnerable best virus ever with no counterplay except Mayan obsidian swords
as it stands, it is sealed
I don't think dropping a nuke on the complex would cleanse it either
in ALT:// the parasite had already made it out by this point (so kinda pointless) but in OG it successfully prevented the spread of the parasite from leaving the complex
no it's too deep and too wide
garganta is fucking huuge
Yes
I am aware
I mentally picture Garganta like Levant Mine
Just a lot bigger tbh
^ maps
(Levant Mine)
Just some sprawling underground hellscape
That keeps going in more directions
pretty much.
Ramped up to sci fi slave labor size
the deeper down it is mostly mineshafts
further up is living quarters, offices, labs, cafeterias, etc
it would easily have a population of over 100k on-site permanently
it had 32,000 KSOs
that's 3 security officers for every 10 people.
that ratio seems a bit high
but then again KOVAC moved their headquarters there, to KDS-DEEP
Tbf I imagine the KSOs existed primarily in their beds
so its possible the number is even higher
Good for storage space solutions
Does GTFO ever explain exactly what hydrostasis does
Or what like
Conditions have to be promoted inside that pod to create the environment for it?
1: you and everything inside is killed (including bacteria that would rot your corpse).
2: you are suspended in amniotic fluid
3: you are pumped with chemicals and otherwise preserved.
4: when needed to be woken, you are "revived" and administered hydrokinetic fluid to prevent your muscles and organs from melting/degrading.
that's why it works to kill the virus
So what part of that kills NAM-V?
everything dies.
**The breakthrough that Kovac Research hopes will answer these questions
is called Hydrostasis - a process that allows humans to be held in a
state of suspended animation for weeks, months, even years at a time
without suffering any ill-effects. The nuts and bolts of the process
are a closely guarded secret, but sources speculate that the procedure
likely uses a synthetic amniotic fluid to sustain and protect the body
while it is in an induced comatose state. In this state, the body is -
for all intents and purposes - dead, but no cell deterioration or
physical decay occurs. For the human in Hydrostasis, the heart, and
time, stops.
**
step 1
hydrostasis isn't cryostasis
it preserves your corpse then brings you back to life... somehow
But like
Alright
So if you're in a pod and they fill it with amniotic fluid that doesn't like "kill you"
It would suck
you'd drown
but we don't have any records of the pod failing like that
(though if it did happen, it'd make sense KOVAC would cover it up)
like pretty much everything else
you don't drown from the amniotic fluid
amniotic fluid is like womb fluid
its the same term
that babies are in before being born
Ik, I'm the person you talked to about this entire process before
and then only revives you
In a way that you can't nessecarily properly explore
granted, it isn't a cure, and leaving hydrostasis you are likely to immediately get reinfected again
if dauda and schaeffer are anything to go by, it'd also forcibly implant you with a KSO control chip
Also fwiw liquid breathing doesn't nessecarily kill you, just in GTFO it does
that and the memory loss... it's not exactly a great solution
I'm not saying it's the solution per say, but it implies NAM-V either drowns, or dies to some chemical solvent, or can't sustain without a living host
we know it can only survive without a host on surfaces for a matter of four weeks
it isn't immortal on its own, like it is with the parasite
the immortality is something related to their symbiosis
So you seperate the virus from the host which is simple till things like Pablo
yes and no...
according to cdc, on the surface at least, it was basically impossible to do so
Lmfao I got automodded
even if your immune system beat it back, the virus would go dormant within you, mutate itself, and hard counter you
If Kovac wasn't a donkey grim dark sci fi company they'd have just made robots for this
What's NAM-V gonna do to a robot?
KSOs are basically biological robots. we are slaves, kidnapped from US prisons. they don't care
(average profit driven cooperation moment)
well, thats not entirely true
they cared enough that they started working on RISE, because of how fast they were losing KSOs
I'm saying wires and metal wouldn't prove a suitable host
but RISE is just making KSOs faster
i agree
but maintenance would be a bitch
because nam-v would just sit on the robots for a month before anybody could get close to them
Would it really be more of a bitch then using a human body? Whether or not GTFO acknowledges it Bishop is gonna need knee replacements and neosporin shots
The one that proves to be a suitable host
right, but how do you know a robot is safe?
you'd have to clearly identify each robot as each, and...
you couldn't make them all look the same
Why not?
Sharpie numbers on their heads
sounds like one of those intercepted messages
there is also a thing with that...
they didn't.
when a KSO was unusable, they salvaged it
cut it up, used the organs for transplants,
stored the meat in freezers
if you can't fight, you get recycled
we aren't humans in the eyes of kovac
we are tools.
How is that functionally different from using a robot except for the fact that you want to use people
Kovac was just run by a moron tbh
you dont need to spend resources to code it and stuff, less prone to buggs
idk. you could argue some moral reason, using inmates
whereas robots werent ever evil
Just gotta wait years for one
the overwhelming majority of KSOs were US prison inmates and undesirables.
There is no moral justification for using an inmate for this tbh
our quad are mostly a band of outliers
Whatever someone did in prison it isn't morally worse then what kovac is doing to people
Qualifying anything as "undesirable" then taking its right to do anything is uh
Morally reprehensible
i used the term undesirables mostly for cases like bishop
the in-lore answer is inmates
sort of, prisons are filled with people and sure you have to "break" them but its easier than coding a robot (then comes the question to if you could copy paste the code), also cheaper which in the eyes of kovac is prolly what they want
theyd prolly get paid by prisons to take their inmates
chucking them in a box for two years i wouldn't really qualify as "breaking them"
its passive
just don't lose power
🤷♂️, even if its passive you still break them
you gotta love the US for-profit prison system
(not a joke, that is how it works in the US)
slave labor is still legal in the US... the exception written is for inmates
like, straight up
it makes sense kovac would get their slaves from here
i think we watched the same documentary lol
probably not, i just know this from trivia
Penal labor in the United States is the practice of using incarcerated individuals to perform various types of work, either for government-run or private industries. Inmates typically engage in tasks such as manufacturing goods, providing services, or working in maintenance roles within prisons. Prison labor is legal under the 13th Amendment to ...
average US moment (everything for profit)
its genuinely awful
yea
there is a reason why the US has the highest prison population in the world
Tbf if you wanna model this off the current us they'd be sending Tesla RobotsTM to Kovac to combat NAM-V
Then they'd combust down there and Musk would pretend it's fine
(and it isn't crime)
when profit meets living standards
Hey, did you know the word officer comes from overseer?
in latin, officiarius, from official
Weird when you consider that along with the predominantly black youth imprisoned in America
Or yes the fact that prisoners are used as free labor to make all sorts of textiles and other things in America
I am acutely aware of this country's issues tbh
i can tell, you have a they live discord profile
Good movie
i agree.
Bill Hicks pfp tho fwiw
whats fwiw?
For what it's worth
for what its worth
oh ok tyty
gtfo's story is predominately built on capitalist greed... and idiocy
Nah ill take that as an answer for why they do what they do
Boston Dynamics would've diffed the hell outta GTFO tho
the merida earthquake, burning of the red cross workers,
digging too deep for billions of dollars of iridium,
Chappie solos
ignoring quarantine procedures,
hell, dr. richtofer losing his eye after trying to force an artifact into a crusher
idiots all around
like a hydraulic press?
**Incident Description
Artifacts taken from L18-AT06 were delivered to the MSL for analysis. After cataloging the samples and performing several surface scans, myself and Dr. Richtofer agreed that the material was unknown to us and proper analysis required breaking one of the artifacts down so a full spectroscopy could be performed. Dr. Richtofer placed one of the artifacts into the Jaw Crusher. The machine, though functioning perfectly well, had no effect on the artifact at all. It remained intact and untarnished despite the crusher operating at full power.
Dr. Richtofer attempted to force the sample into the crusher, but in doing so the artifacts lodged between the crusher plates, causing the mechanism to overload. The hydraulic hoses driving the vibrating plate shattered, and the flying debris hit Dr. Richtofer in the left eye, causing a globe luxation.
We replaced the Doctor’s eye as quickly as possible, but it is likely that his vision will be lost, The artifact remains unbroken.
Actions taken after the incident
Dr. Richtofer has been placed on medical recovery (on-site). A new crusher has been ordered. The artifacts have been sent to SMC headquarters off-site for further analysis.**
Location of Incident: Material Spectroscopy Laboratory
how does one "open" an artifact?
Fun fact, globe luxation is a nice way to say "eyeball hanging out"
the ones we pick up during expeditions. they've got stuff inside them
have a closer look next time you play
You can see it inside em actually, if you have good eyes or a thermal scope
Opening tho?
huh, never noticed
Idfk
zombie moment
its like marbles that have trinkets or dye inserted into the center
It's the easiest on the purple or orange ones
Sometimes it looks like tequila worms
the bold and smth smth smth
The oranges have a lot of those
oddly enough, those aren't parasites. the parasites are desribes as resembling parasitidae, a family of ticks here on earth
the worms are something else
The worms are worms
It's not like we're getting an answer anyway
no, likely not.
DoW likely exists somewhere in the gtfo multiverse.
The rundowns only get better as I actually play through them chronologically, and I'd like a bit more lore
i'd be surprised if we don't get easter eggs
i wished they made a bit easier lor efocused
technically
chronologically would be r7 r1 r2 r3 r4 r5 r6 r8
i skipped from end of r2 to r6 cuz im bad
because of the OG/ALT split
Don't want Easter eggs tho, want info like Dr. Big Flumpus is the reason Hel Tech was micronized, or I want to see an alien
Should've numbered em like that then
we never even get to see the ship
I'm on R4E1 rn, wanna PE it
no,,, like,
they were released at diff times
GTFO originally was a FOMO game
No I understand what you're saying
I know what it was originally like
The OGs felt like uh
Trial and error segments for them?
r7 is the last remaining rundown of the original worldline still in the game
though all of og is still canon
and left side of r8?
Yeah, multiverse stuff
yeah, but r8 is 🍝
Can I say I hate multiverse stuff?
i wouldn't consider it OG or alt://
nightmare lol
eh, i thought it was really good pre-r8.
it was all background lore stuff with the collectors and how they got here and what they were up to
destination, while a different worldline, was mainly just a different planet
I just don't like mutliverses as a prevalent plot device, they feel like the sci fi equivalent of "magic" nowadays
it could have existed in our universe and the only thing that would change would be the time
it is a bit hands waivey, true
easier to explain plot holes.
Yes
why does some infected become shooters, some chargers, some pablo etc?
I like hard sci fi a lot more then soft sci fi
2 things.
- depends on the host, their physical biomass, genetics, etc
Iirc the difference between shooters and strikers is reproductive anatomy of the host
- the subspecies of parasite
different parasite subspecies tend to favor certain sleeper mutations
oh yea shooters are female no?
That is what I was told
fair enough
Strikers are male
**### Entry: Gallus {genus}
Poss. intro? fix end bit
/quote
There are cross-species behavioral distinctions that separate all species within the genus. The dark-skinned variants tend to be more active hunters, suggesting the darker pigmentation is a product of natural selection. They are harder to see and therefore more successful predators. The light skinned breed are still vicious and will attack at the slightest provocation, but they do not seek the prey as actively, they are more disposed to sedentary, almost somnific, behavior. They wait, and strike when roused.
/quote
Entry: Gallus Reptus
Paragraph on:
- Reptus show little signs of intelligence beyond their predatory instincts. Clarify the intraspecific devolution theory?
- possibility of structured hierarchy among the pack, and the role of Reptus in that hierarchy
- possibility that Reptus are a post-metamorphic stage of Jaculus? Note no confirmed sightings of Jaculus in a pupal state.
- NEED DNA SAMPLE
Entry: Gallus Jaculus
- more intelligent than Reptus, or given a more strategic role in the hive?
- what are the implications of emergent intelligence.
- potential human connection/influence. Mimicry or symbiont relationship with parasite?
- remove that woman from the team
Entry: Gallus Capreolatus
Name options:
- Capreolatus
- Cirrhus
- Pampinarii
- Clavicula
Discuss tendril hypotheses : - diphyllobothrium latum mimicry?
- siphonophore/zooids theory
- NEED DNA SAMPLE
Gallus Horridus
- advanced predation techniques
- purpose of keratinous growths unclear. does it charge under threat?
- NEED DNA SAM**
you are correct.
there are exceptions,
but that is the case in like, 99% of cases
Oh
Favorite animal mentioned
"Animal"
reproductive anatomy is fairly minor
Siphonophores are stupidly cool, if you're unaware of them
remove that woman from the team
lol
for male/female strikers/shooters it is most likely due to physiology, due to changes from hormones etc
rebecca stokes.
one of the three leads of insight
Tbh I didn't know how else to softball it
Without also getting into like
The philosophy of what makes people people
its like, big and muscular? giant/chicken/hybrid!
tanks and mothers aren't entirely natural mutations
there are inklings that partially dauda is responsible
two humans fused, yes. one male one female, the male serving like an angler fish, pretty much nothing but for sperm so the mother can breed shit tons of little ones that get infected by parasites in the womb. dark stuff
honestly not really. they only have one head.
this is what tends to cause me to bring up the fact slepeers aren't zombies
just the thought of that really brings out the horror
Do mom's have more then one?
more than one what
Head
not that i recall.
if it did, it would be on the underside
the male makes up the back legs and is sorta mostly dissolved/repurposed biomass wise
the mother is the front legs, head, and "wings"
Then wouldn't only having 1 head not indicate the use of multiple corpses?
it is really a LOT like angler fish
the male is much smaller and becomes vestigial
I do want to know how the bodies melded tbh
Ik angler fish fwiw
I'm like, stupidly into biology but mainly marine bio
for tanks? yeah. only one person.
mothers are two.
both tanks, mothers, and snatchers were partially due to dauda's meddling/research
we don't know details because...
he's a KSO now
he can't tell us
and didn't make many recordings
Tbf GTFO has a stark lack of details on these things
They wouldn't tell you anyway
Maybe stop?
hm?
Maybe dauda should've stopped at some point
Clearly
Actually
He might be the worst one there
Woods and Hackett are just killers
Bishop iirc doesn't even have blood on his hands
**BISHOP, FRANK GO-1395
A lifetime ago, Frank Bishop made a losing bet.
**
from official gtfo website
I'd have to know who he was doing it to tbh
we have no idea.
Frank Bishop might infact be a moral Paragon if it's the right people
that first bit is only mentioned in this text blurb
Jude Akuwudike killed it as Dauda tbh
Alright so, my take is that if Frank was screwing with people who could put him in a KSO hellscape, they probably deserved it and Bishop might be the best out of our 4 characters
morally bishop is the best, yes.
And we'd be better off if Dauda went postal one day
killed half of the insight lab? eh.
hammerstein was a duche
but i think durant and stokes were pretty alright
I am under the impression that anything that delays the outcome we got, even if it's by minutes, is a morally positive action
durant (in alt://) left to the jungle world. he and his team ended up the last living humans from the merged worldliines
durant (in og) died with his team on destination
And before Durant did any of those things he was furthering Kovac's end goals, which end goaled Earth.
Which makes him a net negative on the planet
do we know why they died?
to be fair, insight was called in by dreyfus after santonian had already dug into the ship
something something the floaters picking them off one by one. i do not remember the log.
only bishop returned.
actually,
i dont think that log mentioned the floaters...
i remember it being weird
let me see if i can find it
is floaters meatballs?
Iirc yeah
it was one of (two) logs talking about durant's expedition on destination
the first was on the r6b1 terminal at alpha two
where the fuck was the other one
which log is it?
the one regarding hammerstein and co hiding in caves
talking about being picked off one by one
i'm trying keyword searches but can't find it
it was from sometime between ogr6 and ogr7
i remember talking about it a loooooooooooooooong time ago because the creatures in it seemed too intelligent to be floaters/infected
god i fucking hate fandom
i click something and it brings me to the top of the page then down to somewhere that isnt what im looking for
idk what u mean i love requiring ad blocker to open it in public
i feel like i'm going fucking crazy
frostty is being greifed by fandom (or someone removing the log)
search for the keyword "pack behavior"
im already losing it over all of the levels im too bad to clear
thanks 2022 artek
or "pack tactics"
"hunting tactics"
i'm gonna find this damn log!
😠
here is a bit from it: ""They took Peterson yesterday while we were resting in a cave. They must have been watching us all along. We had the entrance guarded and a rock wall to our backs but they still just… [breathing] plucked him out the middle of us. It’s possible that they’re using hunting strategies or at least they work together to… to… ""
from 2022 artek
where the fuck is the full log!?
This is Dr. James Durant. This may be my last entry from EF01. Only myself, Alice and all of the security officers are still alive; and I’m fairly sure that our survival is not their primary objective. They are protecting the data first, then us. Bishop keeps moving us but the creatures always find us. Even in the pitch black they can locate us with ease. They took Peterson yesterday while we were resting in a cave. They must have been watching us all along. We had the entrance guarded and a rock wall to our backs but they still just… [breathing] plucked him out the middle of us. It’s possible that they’re using hunting strategies or at least they work together to… to… [clears throat]. We are going to die here. That much is clear. We’ve lost the Quantum Tether to Garganta, and despite scanning the entire frequency range, there’s no signal. Control must be searching for us from their end but well heh… We don’t fully understand the Matter Wave Projector; damn fools. I have pleaded with Bishop to return to the landing zone because maybe there the original tether frequency will still work; he refuses. He just repeats his objective: Explore and cover as much ground as possible and wait until Control instantiates a Matter Wave for our return. Clearly, that’s not gonna happen but you can’t talk to him. You can’t talk to any of them. They’re robots.
^ i found it @ionic dune @tough wave
tyty
lol
i don't even remember what we were talking about
^
Clearly, that’s not gonna happen but you can’t talk to him. You can’t talk to any of them. They’re robots.
i wonder if all the trauma finally got to them due to the fact that they havent hoped into HSUs in a while
what?
KSOs aren't conversationalists
no. bishop was just like that.
we have more freedom under the warden than we did under biocom raw.
i smell Bishop slander
that makes more sense
They didn't need to be
bishop was stranded on destination, likely alone, for two years
It's not a person anymore, it's a meat puppet
(given 85x1 and the time stokes says before he appeared back)
fair enough
pretty apt description.
wait did this happen before durant went into destination?
before who went in what?
yea mb
during.
time works differently there.
ef01 was "gone" for two weeks
time on destination is 85x slower
he lived through two years there
oh ok, did bishop or the others get lost or what happened? (mb if it says in the log im a bit nauseous)
and that squad was among others durant?
durant, a dozen scientists, and a quad for escort.
he wouldn't remember any of it regardless.
fair
hydrostasis
you mentioned that dauda had nightmares, am i correct to assume that was before hydrostasis?
no.
the audio logs i posted way above
these are after.
remembering who he was before.
oh ok
when he would have time to sleep and thus have nightmares?
WHO THE FUCK KNOWS!
microsleep (wouldnt be enough time for dreaming though)
idk with how i play hed have like 15 mins whilst i pull up tutorials
plus he mightve been standing in a room to prevent spawns for like 20 mins
In R6 7 and 8 I see some Rundown's name label with yellow text like R6A1 what does it mean ? ( I m still in R4C2 )
the yellow means its a more story focused mission
so i can find some useful lore in that mission ?
I m very confused this game's lore
more than useful lore, a more focused story
or well- in some levels some lore is explained
mostly r6 i guess
Read the lore for dummies doc in pins
It talks about the very basics of the game without spoilers
Lore is everywhere in the game in the form of logs
They are mostly world building
The yellow levels have a bit more of "story action"
Usually dialogue
wait OG timeline? Sorry I m about mostly new player. So now I m playing ALT Timeline?
Can I play OG ?
Rundowns that start with ALT are the ALT timeline
Rundowns without ALT are OG
Only R7 is available
When the game came out they used to remove the old rundowns
Now only OG R7 remains
ALT is the same but with small differences
The story is also different in some bits but its mostly the same
When the game notice we have 2 timeline? If I did not see this channel , I might have never known.
ALT Rundown 6 and Rundown 7
You'll notice it pretty fast with how a certain character acts
one of my friend gave up this game haha
He gave up since R2E1
very long run we died at the last door 3 times , we died many time till we know how to manage to the last door. I think 10 times +
We dont looking any spoiled we want to breakdown the rundowns by ourself. haha.....
my 2 friends say This game is the best Co-op FPS game ever in thier life ( same as me 🙂 )
in r6bx, is this the list of people who died/is alive?
hmm
its scheaffers list of who he could possibly wake up from HSU to help him
Oh ok tyty
In a log in the same levels talks about people who can help him
In OG take out the warden
ALT help him
He mentions our team and a couple other people
Oh ok tyty, I’ll go log hunting when I play it
Gtfo's characters are strange.
i mean, pretty much everyone was a psycho to some degree
Well psycho, murder, sociopath, stupid.
Wait, bishop?
He did alot of crimes/stuff that is morally grey at best.
The guy that tried to blackmail
Yeah that guy.
Yea he saw an opportunity to blackmail and gain stuff but didn’t go that well
(Joking btw)
He's one of the better members of the main team, by a slight margin.
I’d consider it by a large margin if he didn’t do the murdering part, still not a good person
Yeah, if your counting before gtfo's events/kso
He’s someone i wouldn’t be very uncomfortable with taking a drink, the rest I’m very uncomfortable with
What makes him worse during GTFO events/kso?
Mass murder, technically, illegal usage of firearms in a crime/during a crime, bio weaponry, many many counts of tresspasing, the list goes on.
Well
Not including abaiding a criminal, the other 3, during a crime.
Nvm then
No matter how you put it, he still commited at least 3 to 4 crimes, not including whatever interdimanisnoal ones he broke.
Yea doesn’t sound too good on his resume
Forgot mass kidnapping/theft of almost dead bodies.
Almost dead bodies?
During the og teams escape/fucking full force sprint from the complex during r8e2, after betraying alt team for the datacubes they had spent their entire half getting only to die in a sick last stand where they all embrace death and say their goodbyes to the ones near them, they activate a teleporter using the MWP and escape bringing along with them a ton of hsu's containing the half dead bodies of multiple kso's (fun fact the area we enter during r8e1 at the end is the same area just had the main area ripped out.)
It's got a name, ahh yes kds deep.
So yes mass kidnapping of almost dead bodies.
i mean... kovac did get complete and total legal authority over the yucatan from the mexican government... so laws don't really apply.
**
Mr. Clinton,
As I mentioned in our original discussion (I have attached the Hearsay recording for your review), the Santonian employee contract is very clear on the punishment for entering restricted areas. Kovac Defensive Services have a comprehensive contract with both the Santonian Mining Company and the Mexican government that allows Kovac to establish martial law and “administrative punitive consequence” over any person within the exclusion zone. This is not just a company contract, it is national law.
All workers at Garganta and the surrounding area agree to these regulations when they sign their contract.
Andre Piros**
R5e1
I’m not one to consider ethics of duty as a good moral rule
That looks so menacing lol
R8e2
the vault is slightly different
if that is due to redesign or whatnot, i am unsure
r8e2's vault is much expanded.
R5e1 looks menacing in like a ”hero” way whilst r8e2 looks menacing in a ”villainous” way
r5e1 is the warden finally getting access to the 24,000 KSOs inside DEEP.
r8e2 is our valiant escape.
Huh, why didn’t the warden throw 24K KSOs at the same time to achieve their goal?
it might not have 24,000.
32,000 is just the total maximum capacity of garganta
8k outside deep, and 24k within
a considerable number probably died during the fall
regardless, we do conduct expeditions with other teams
r6c3 is a good example
us serving as a distraction for another team
Fair
as to why the warden didn't drop you in to r8e1 with several thousand KSOs as backup, i can't say.
other than 10cc not developing GTFO with npcs in mind
and performance reasons
Tbh it could be he didnt want to take any risks
And don’t think the ksos were trained to work in terms of armies
Yea and the others might’ve friendly fired
Isnt ALT team another perfect team? Or close to it?
this question really is, why r8?
yeah
I still dont know why we are considered important with schaeffer, might come later in r6-r7
Being realistic we are the ones that actually got a chance to survive
and yet leaving is futile given nam-v
it'd take days if not weeks of prep for a sterile environment
(Not the way I play lol)
we go in mid-fucking-error
I meant the area in r8e1 where we go through the door and see the place aflame and falling apart, I think is the area from r8e2
Cause we go through the door after the hold out while the cubes go through and boom, wreckage.
"dealing with them" is them being put in HSU to not remember what happened or just straight up killed?
it depends.
that's schaeffer and arty.
schaeffer's ID is C067.
and he wasn't killed or HSU'd.
schaeffer and phil decker.
oh ok
