the looks of tanks stood there just being menacing and one of their rooms they are in during one of the og rundowns having piles of bodies and broken hsu's, mothers and their horrific spawn being there and the bigger fucking ones are worse, the creeping dread of not knowing what is near, even the small sleepers were fucking terrifying looking.
oh and the great sand dunes and sunshine of destination after being stuck in the horrifying darkness of garganta for so long.
which if we go by medical terms, would technically leave the og and alt teams that went there temproially blind due to medical stuff
destination came after the lighting engine changes...
what are you talking about
the game looks like it could be a movie rn imo
do you have pics of new vs old?
Give me like 20 minutes and I can find a few
Ones got a darkened room with defined tendrils, ones bright fucking red and has a solid mass
ok interesting
how much did it effect the general atmosphere and the look of the sleepers?
Just watch the *2017 trailer
Take a look at the first gameplay trailer for GTFO, a 4 player co-operative experience, that premiered at The Game Awards 2017.
wow this game has changed so much
i like the aesthetics of the old gtfo
the gameplay looks worse but the lighting look better
That trailer looks more like a concept trailer than a "world gameplay premiere"
zero recoil guns 😹
in the future we solved physics
love when people say stuff like this
ah yeah just lemme get it illegally cuz its eay easier than actually finding somewhere to do that
Do you not have gun ranges?
the gun range is the street u grow up on
Let me ask my local cartel member
If i can use their guns for a test
Maybe i even get hired??????
i prefer dreyfus
Employment opportunities are everywhere
Not everyone is ’MURICAN FUCK YEA (WTF IS A KILOMETEEEEEER)
I didn't say you had to right now, just presented with the opportunity shoot one
Guns don't have as much recoil as you'd imagine
If someone wants to feel emotional duress over it that's on them
i mean i both imagine one gtfo weaponry is not designed just as nicely as a real life gun as they look improvised
seconds, two of our 4 main guys never had any real gun training
one is a psychopharmacologist
the others british
I mean
I didn't either the first time I shot a rifle tbf
The GTFO guns look heavy tbh
Almost all of them have muzzle brakes or something along those lines too
if u did it right or semi-ok it still could go terribly for someone else
plus even if they have muzzle brakes or those added grips [which only some] i still imagine they are unbalanced and just sorta put together and i would imagine that matters more
funnily enough the lower recoil guns seem like the ones that would take more engineering as the burst cannon
or burst weaponry
Depends on a lot tbh
You can overengineer the recoil out of a gun
The Kriss Vector is a really popular example of that
I have no idea what the burst cannon is tbh
The hel weapons are ETC tech which exists irl
burst cannon i think in the canon is an antitank weapon modified for gun usage, thus the high power
The guns our prisoners use 100% aren't made for normal people
We are pumped with drugs and chemically enhanced
yummy
I can tell you it's some amalgamation of a M249 tho
Look at videos of soldiers trying to walk while firing an m249, yeah
Our ksos can do it while heart-attacking
Them CoD mfs built different lmao
Not to mention sprinting with sledgehammers and jump-cracking heads
This is an every game thing tbh
Irl you'd be winded in under a minute
Unironically go put on a gasmask and try to run
That shit sucks
Very rarely do games make you grapple with the fact you're carrying 150 pounds of shit
The KSOs carrying 2 weapons+hammer+tools+ammo for all of this shit realistically would not be jumping, nor running very much
An lmg, rifle, several hundred rounds of ammo, a full-size sledgehammer, and a sentry gun that goes up to knee height and weighs at least 40lb
Not to mention ammo for it
MGs are unironically like 20 pounds unloaded
auto sentry 700 rounds my beloved
Correct

Unless you run very small guns with low ammo counts
Lightest you could probably get is two pistols, a knife, and bio
Things like DTR/DMR/Carbine are most likely around 7-10 pounds unloaded
Just guesstimating off average irl weights
i think pistols have too much ammo for that
if u wanna go true low bullets, slug shottie which is 40 or so rounds and sniper? or scattergun that is 14 and 16 i think respectively
snipers 15 FUCK
My guy, any decent 12 gauge is heavy as fuck
I think Hel gun would probably be super tolerable to carry
It's probably heavy for what it is but
It doesn't carry more then like 5 or 6 reserve mags
yeah but ur carrying 100+ mags with a pistol so give or take
Also the gtfo sniper is like a brick's length in width
maybe not the sniper, rather the high cal?
less bullets than hel gun while still relatively compact
its a deagle it is just a deagle
KSOs actually have a justification to be superhuman-esque, compared to cod and other fps games
It's a multi-year process and that's before you are even out of hydrostasis for the first time
I tbh didn't imagine KSOs as like
"Made better"
I just imagined Kovac or Legion or whoever as not letting them nessecarily engage with the pain of their bodies being ripped apart under missions until they died
Like I imagine if our 4 heros could feel things still their back and knees would be fuckin sore lmao
Who says they don't
I mean, maybe they do from a video game perspective
I think them being licked so much is like massage
The sleepers tongue has to be such an odd feeling
Cat licking you is my guess but more sandpaper type feel
imagine what it feels like with the snatcher 😳
Snatchers are weird
does this voiceline ever play anywhere in r8?
||https://youtu.be/RffSPubuR5s?si=HHy9SEdNP3ZfhXXR||
This sounds like either alt or a more sane version of og Schaffer and if its og Schaffer then it would be about either him killing henrikson or beating alt Schafferto death, so it could be said sometime during the microphone activation commands audio or it wasnt used.
@eternal talon
Cause other then him saying "Henrikson, Henrikson, oh yes what's done is done, get on with it prisoners." He never really mentions the death of henrikson
Which if I'm remembering it correctly, that's in the og parts of r8 during the mission where we start the nuclear meltdown, which is before the one where the og team deactivates their control chip which I think is called "unplugged".
i believe that one plays at the start of r8b3
Yeah I think it is, also in that mission you can find a bloody employee id with henriksons number on it and a metal pipe near it.
oh fr
Which technically gives og Schaffer with a metal pipe a kill count of three confirmed ones.
The wardens conduit that it tried to speak with him using it, probably henrikson, and depending if you interrupt it or not the sane alt schaffer.
yes it does
its a collection of voicelines that play when the r8d2 dialogue finishes
they just loop so it never ends
just until uuu flood the shit out of him
ohhhh
not if we're talking break action :}
whats the dots and dashes achievement for? I dont remember seeing a hiden message
R1D1
You can hear a metal pipe hitting the walls before going into the reactor
oh, whats it say? (in morse im guessing)
"escape"
im guessing her wants us to escape huh (or he wants to escape)
i mean to survive how long he did before the events of gtfo, Schaffer living in the vents and pipes could've worked.
snatcher schaeffer
RATS! RATS IN THE WALLS! CHEWING THROUGH CONCRETE TO GET OUT!
wait
get out? almost like...
get the fuck out
and thats almost like GTFO!
i certainly don't recognize it.
It sounds a lot like the R8D2 looping dialogue
Especially some parts of it i do recognize from that mission, although I never heard him saying the „i killed him” part
What did you do to frostty and can we have them back?
i am not infallible.
You are tho¿
i know a whole hell of a lot about a whole hell of a lot...
but i have the memory of a goldfish in terms of RAM
About hell
my brain is a hard drive
😭🙏fair enough
My brains storage and ram is both corrupt, I do not remember anything
i spent 40 minutes this morning trying to remember the name of the west indies in regards to port royal, jamaca
i kept googling Caribbean...
DDR3 RAM
As in you can ask me what I did today and I’ll be able to tell you one thing
my pc still uses 8gb of ddr3 and i have an amd fx6300 cpu
🇹🇩 tbh
a 1tb hard drive, but i have a gforce 1660ti, so at least that is something
I spend way to much money on electronics
i don't really spend much on electronics. i have the same setup i've had since 2018
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it
aye
and most of the games i play are old af, so i don't really need the processing power anyway
My first real paycheck went on a monitor, my second paycheck went to gpu (and kinda entirely new pc) and third went to TV so I think I spend a bit much😭
Fair
Good
If it works
Its good
fallout new vegas
Honestly no. I haven't played that game in over half a decade
Minecraft
Alex
Is there a lore reason Garganta is built in like, the functionally worst layouts possible?
Truuuuue
So many random upper platforms that lead to literally nothing but a blank wall.
And stairs that go nowhere
Lotta senseless elevation changes too
Sometimes you look at a forklift somewhere and you're not quite sure how it got there or how it'll go anywhere else short of dis and re assembly
probs unfinished stuff?
i mean garganta just kept expanding every time u blinked
so maybe
I mean even if you look at microcosms of it
Sometimes you have like, a room that's the 4 doors with what equates to the moat for the middle section
Connected to a stairwell style room that just goes up
Then to a room that goes back down
And the entire time I'm walking around this place I'm wondering who designed it like this ngl
i mean it ignores osha as the corrupt company it is but maybe its built like a highway evading funny rocks to save the effort plus we dont know what they used most stuff for
like r1b1 initial room who the fuck knows what is it for
Yeah my team comments on silly stuff like this all the time like how impractical it all is and like “what does the forklift even need to pick up?”
Imagine having to haul material around Garganta
But then I tell myself it’s a video game and it’s designed that way so it’s more confusing/challenging for the players to path through.
Yk what fucks with me? I've never seen a bathroom or a cafeteria
And then I feel better 👏
They might show up later
The bathrooms lmao?
People worked in Garganta
the boxes :3
There'd be amenities somewhere
nah gardens is where everyone eats
surely
nom pumpkin
Unironically free grow botanical gardens as a cafeteria would be so cool
Technically you could argue part of it is related to malfunctions with the matter wave projector, but primarily no. As sledo said, just constant expansion, or no reason at all
From a game design point of view, it is the way it is because each zone is a prefab tile with randomized pieces jumbled together.
Labs having the most pointless hallways leading to a wall
I get it from a game design perspective, same reason warframe looks like warframe does for better or worse
Was just curious if there was a lore reason
Primarily they most likely would have used a site-wide tram system with freight elevators due to their location and ease of boring.
Lil different
Tiles that are set up in generations to be easier to yk, do
Warframe is straight rng tho
And you won't. They are mentioned in logs many times, but never seen in gameplay. They are absent from the prefab list the developers made.
Sort of.
Hate that tbh
GTFO has every room randomized, for example, digsite (the caves) has roughly 20 different possible variations, and roughly 15 different entrances/exits/morphs.
Within those variations that a zone might choose while building (depending on assigned variable number), it will piece together a ton of smaller prefabs for specific walls, furnature, vehicles, crates, etc
The lighting in zones also uses a similar prefab system
You could throw a completely unique level together with the datablocks alone in under a day
Which was one of the many reasons players complained it took the developers 5-6 months to come up with new rundowns, containing 12-15 levels
I have the benefit of playing this game post release
I got it like ages ago on sale and never played it cause my friends wouldn't get into it tbh
You also would have missed the rundown system previously, where the previous rundown would be deleted, when a new one was added
It was still a number of months per each ALT:// rundown rerelease
Partly that was due to engine changes making terrain not generate the same way with the same variable numbers, though
I agree
I want Garganta to feel more lived in
I always think about dead space designers talking about the ishimura
And wanting it to not just feel like some awful place where a bunch of people died, but also a place that was once lived in and used as a workspace
(USG Ishimura my beloved)
We never even get to see the vessel.
Let alone explore it
Nor do we ever see a collector, the reason for the game's existence
Fine, I'll make R9 myself
And what'd that do? Retcon r8? Or focus on an entirely separate worldline?
Alt team maybe surviving and going to the inner to fight whatever is on that alien ship
No idea, haven't finished r8 yet
gargantas layout and levels are weirdly fun to look at.
and are also an architects nightmare
like how are some of these windows/cellings even standing, after how ever many god damm years without repair
Engineers too no?
yeah, that's even worse somehow
not only did they break osha laws but also the laws of architecture, engineering, and fucking physics at parts
Can’t even ask for payraise or you’d get put in da prison
or mysteriously disseaper
Or become bishop sort of
bishop's a funny case of idoicy and a shite ton of bad luck
and also good luck considering he lived through valencia and manged to make it back to the usa
If his murder charges and whatnot wasn’t faked (the blackmail we know was real though)
also considering how many regular steel doors the sleepers break down if alerted, then any humans they hit would be thrown, got mass amounts of internal damage, and broke 3 bones on impact.
i doubt those are the strongest things ever
and i doubt sleepers feel pain
when punching them
let me correct myself, anything above the small ones and the chargers and maybe the snatchers would cause a shite ton of damage.
oh and the meatballs wouldnt.
i mean dependin on how canon u wanna consider sometimes we wear vests and protection, we dont know what the shooters shoot nor how tongues rlly work apart from them having teeth inside
a bbc i think its the one enemy that could down u witht he effects u say and maybe a normal big but also they do
like a bbc is 1.3 seconds and ur down
The only enemies i feel that can kill someone in impact
Are BBCs and tanks
One hit and its game over
yeah, also that's not counting on if there's more then one singular sleeper or a mulitidue of them.
anybody know a place where I can get the transcripts for the audio logs?
would be appreciated
Wiki
The gtfo wiki
Everything is there in both audio and text
oh yeah I couldn't find it at first but I see it now lol, tysm
which audio logs would you like?
can I have the dauda moaning audio
no
the hell is that
pretty please ??? 🥺🥺🥺🥺
What?
is daude the only character that has missing voice lines?
bishop has wrong ones in place of others
They are Not Missing, Dauna is Just too shy to speak Out.

fellow lore enthusiasts, what is your favorite part/section of the story, be it post-apocalypse, or pre?
Lead pipe
"Florida man infected by a deadly alien desease decides it would be a good idea to cough in public"
Mr Truth
🙏
Yeah how did the virus spread
it's easier to explain how it doesn't spread.
type away
as per Dauda's research, it can spread via air, fluid, contact, and can survive on surfaces for well over a month. It has an R-Naught of more than double Covid (infectivity Meter) From it first infecting humans in the modern day, to the complete extinction of all life on the surface of earth, was less than 10 years, maybe even less than five.
The only environment it cannot spread through is the vaccum of space, where there is literally nothing, not even air particles that it can hitch a ride on
What does it do to the carrier?
this question has two parts to the answer.
first, it is an entirely alien virus, so it took some time to adapt to human physiology. at first, the effects of infection were relatively minor.
the virus itself can't create sleepers, that is due to the symbiotic pairing it has the with parasite, parasitidae garganta.
give me a moment to pull up a full list of symptoms...
Malaise
Lethargy
Exhaustion
Trouble focusing
Haemoptysis
Muscular spasms
Frothing at the mouth
Violent behaviour
Extreme lethargy or drowsiness
Depression
Vomiting
deformation of the spine
As the virus progresses, it's lethal factor is primarily via the mutations it causes to the host.
if you catch it, it is 100% fatal in all cases, as if your immune system manages to fight it, the virus will simply go dormant, mutate itself, and re-appear within a number of days to weeks, modified, and made to hard-counter your immune system.
death is certain within a five week period.
the virus is a wildfire, spreading and cleansing planets of life in under a decade.
Were the researchers french perchance?
the only thing that can stop it is the virus literally eating all of its food.
What’s malaise and lethargy?
Oh
thats where the parasite comes in, making the parasite, and by extension the sleepers it creates, immortal, and giving the virus a bottomless fuel tank
sorta maybe, malaise is stress-anxiety
Tyty
lack of confidence maybe
the picture above is what it looks like when someone dies from nam-v (the virus).
peril,
the parasite, strikers being the most basic example, continues the mutations the virus started
This is space rabies.
💀
honestly sort of. the hosts are still alive as sleepers, while the parasite puppets their bodies
breaking bones and shifting muscle mass.
reminds me of the headcrabs from hl2
What is the relation between nam v and the sleepers/parasite?
now think of mothers
the virus is giga OP and will kill anything and everything fast as fuck, like it is speedrunning the game of life. According to the collectors, any UNIVERSE the virus has been detected in, it eventually went on to destroy any and all life in that entire universe.
the parasite infects hosts, turning them into sleepers that it can puppet and control to protect its hive, laying eggs inside hosts to birth more parasites.
the two have a symbiotic relationship
the virus (somehow) makes the parasite immortal, (not to gunfire or the like, but to aging and reduced nutrient requirement)
and because the infected host the parasite is controlling is immortal, the virus doesn't die off.
it uses the hosts and the parasites as an infinite fuel tank
so it doesn't run out of food on it's killing rampage
(eggs)
Were (parasite and virus) independent from each other at the start of their conception or were they always symbiotic?
so, it is not entirely known, as all of the collectors aside from the warden are long dead after their ship crashed.
but it is implied that the parasite was once a victim of the virus
and that the virus came first
developed by the collectors as a bioweapon (as dauda theorizes), or otherwise, if the collectors found it on some world somewhere naturally
they are essentially massive mites/ticks.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parasitidae
even though they are alien in nature, Hammerstein classified them under the family parasitidae
Parasitidae is a family of predatory mites in the order Mesostigmata that has worldwide distribution. They are the only family in the superfamily Parasitoidea. Relatively large for mites, their color is often yellowish to dark brown. The family as a whole preys on a wide variety of microarthropods and nematodes, with individual species usually h...
so it'd be like eating a bloodbug
It would make sense that the virus infected a parasite or small organism, hijacking it or spreading, and making kin or creating a new species with evolution over time
that would be A theory
that is what dauda theorizes.
The parasite that we had previously attributed as the primary carrier of the virus is, in my opinion, merely
another victim of this remarkable lifeform. The only difference is the virus does not mutate the parasites,
rather it prolongs the life cycle of the parasite indefinitely. The relationship is symbiotic. The parasite
carries the virus to new hosts, and the virus helps the parasite live for an extended (and currently
unknown) period. Perhaps indefinitely.
i am dauda
he was in charge of human experimentation in the complex, before it got overran.
a monster of a person.
the sleepers, partly from newly infected staff, and partly from the ship and all the infected within
(infected mayans, infected collectors, and infected specimens from hundreds of unknown species)
Was there a person of interest that opened the gates or was it really through "natural" contamination
i'd recommend checking out the "GTFO Lore For Dummies" documents in the pins of this channel (.pdf and .txt) for a basic lore synopsis.
thanks doc
so initially one of santonian's mining crew were excavating to the ship (they thought it was an asteroid at the time), and they cracked into one of the uppermost levels of the ship
inside was a bunch of artifacts and stuff, that SMC's parent company, Dreyfus Industries, would call Project Insight in to study.
a quarantine was established around the site of the mining tunnel, but two of Insight's scientists (unknown who) would recklessly ignore the quarantine procedures and be the first two humans infected with nam-v in the modern era.
from there it spread amongst garganta staff as santonian downplayed the issue, and one of the infected workers would flee on foot, eventually ending up spreading it to maricopa florida through ocean currents
as it most likely spread to mexico around the site first... but the first recorded location of infection anyway was maricopa
at least according to the CDC
that is where they first found out about it
plague inc
NAM-V is too OP for that game lol
we don't know the last.
we know in logs it was most likely to have spread to all continents pretty early on..
we only have confirmed locations for denmark, the UK, and the US
(and obviously mexico)
Then I would suggest New Zealand as the safe haven
And a wild card ; Antarctica
Even though it's not a country
Although the virus has currently only been detected in the United States, Mexico, and the United Kingdom, there is a 90% probability that the virus is present in all continents.
as of 14 March 2053
We wouldn't know the geo-political events of the future, but I am betting that there are more people there
is the garganta or whatever its called located in mexico?
the outbreak garganta occured with the two scientists being infected in 18 March 2052
yes, in the chicxulub crater.
huh
the center point of the complex is just outside of a town named Ixil. Would you like the coordinates?
gonna build a prison there 🙃
sure

siri, please help
i have a couple images showing the size of the complex below ground... give me a second...

not near los ceibos
Mexico mentioned
thats my favorite place
will be good for my eventual schematics, will make sure architects and engineers wont be going thru r8 and back though when designing it
easily housing several hundred thousand workers
and going down several thousand meters from the surface level.
You should update the image, the Gulf.... has changed names...
nah, tr*mp can kiss my ass
But yeah, I am putting my buckaroos to New Zealand, Antarctica or Madagascar
its not mine for sure
Or North Sentinal Island
why are there so many varieties of them? like i get that it broke bones and shifted flesh but why did it evolve in that way? further question, how the FUCK can there be seeking spit?

svalbard is an isolated island archipelago way way way north.
I was betting on the bunker that houses all plants
denmark and any scandinavian country shouldnt be mentioned in the same scentence
isnt that in svalberg?
that is also in svalbard
Well i'll be damned lol
so hey u were correct
that is the svalbard GSV
The Svalbard Global Seed Vault (Norwegian: Svalbard globale frøhvelv) is a secure backup facility for the world's crop diversity on the Norwegian island of Spitsbergen in the remote Arctic Svalbard archipelago. The Seed Vault provides long-term storage for duplicates of seeds from around the world, conserved in gene banks. This provides security...
YEAH THAT ONE
its here
svalbard is pretty much always the no1 best place to be in an apocalyptic scenario
I bet the Irish fought the virus well
alcohol
speaking of which
did alcohol affect the virus?
because it is cold as shit, a pain in the ass to get there, AND has infrastructure

other than slightly pissing it off? not likely.
so it get the angru face when drunk interesting
Maybe Canada or Quebec
the only reason why hydrostasis works to cleanse us of it (but not the damage that it deals to us) is because in hydrostasis we are dead.
Northern Quebec would live
worse infrastructure imo
d.e.a.d.
isnt it technically on the verge so no parasite could survive?
but we could
isn't what on the verge?
like on the verge of death
I meant Nunavut
like 95% of it is nothing
People live there
hydrostasis kills you and everything in it, suspends you in a membrane ala a womb, then ressurrects you when it is opened, combined with a chemical cocktail so your brain and organs don't start melting.
yea, thats the 5%
Inuit people
The breakthrough that Kovac Research hopes will answer these questions
is called Hydrostasis - a process that allows humans to be held in a
state of suspended animation for weeks, months, even years at a time
without suffering any ill-effects. The nuts and bolts of the process
are a closely guarded secret, but sources speculate that the procedure
likely uses a synthetic amniotic fluid to sustain and protect the body
while it is in an induced comatose state. In this state, the body is -
for all intents and purposes - dead, but no cell deterioration or
physical decay occurs. For the human in Hydrostasis, the heart, and
time, stops.
huh, reincarnation
sort of. more like reanimation
just missing the freezer
it just kills anything that would rot you
pumping people full of drugs historically works
so that's cool
even today
in the future*
amniotic fluid is literally womb juice
I think baby smoothy would not be efficient
it sounds similar to cryostasis because of the name, but hydrostasis is very very different
but i am but a citizen
ooooh yea fair enough
they'd die most likely due to it traveling via ocean currents.
they'd pick it up from fish

the climate is just too warm
i think super north or super south could manage because of the cold... but it's still like... chances are STACKED against you
frostty is there some article that has daudas experiments listed?
this thing eats universes for breakfast
as to specific ones?
yes
a little bit.
We could check air circulation data
**Mr. Lockwood,
You requested an update. Here it is.
Through my experiments, I have discovered the virus has a multipronged attack strategy, which not only
increases the R0, but also allows it to be highly contagious in multiple environments. Infected individual
can release create pathogens and fomites through any bodily fluid. The virus has been observed in fluids
extracted from anywhere on the patient - sweat, blood, saliva, bile, urine, even in the aqueous and
vitreous humors. The virus can also survive for several weeks while airborne or on surfaces. In my control
tests, subjects exposed to locations that had been contaminated up to 4 weeks prior to exposure still
contracted the virus. This was also true of subjects immersed in various solutions (I tried fresh water, salt
water, and several synthetic oils and polymers). 85% of subjects contracted the virus within a few
hours. The remaining 15% who survived other exposure methods contracted the virus when exposed to a
vaporus environment heavily dosed infected fomites.**
**The parasite that we had previously attributed as the primary carrier of the virus is, in my opinion, merely
another victim of this remarkable lifeform.
The virus is remarkable. It appears to have been perfectly designed to infect regardless of the
Circumstance. When it finds a host, it induces coughing, sweating, sneezing, and ultimately violent attacks
to draw blood and saliva. Without a host, it can transfer itself through any medium. The only test I have
not been able to perform yet is in a vacuum, but I am planning such experiments next week as soon as I
receive new subjects from Mr. Piros.**
**Mr. Lockwood,
We can assert categorically that both NAM-V and Parasitidae Garganta are extraterrestrial in origin. There is no way of knowing for sure if they evolved in the same location (or even if they evolved at all), but we do know that the environmental conditions for both lifeforms was at least very similar as their structural framework share many features. It is highly likely they have the same origin, wherever that may be.
The progenitor of the relationship between the virus and the parasite is not clear, so I have been working under Dr. Dauda's theory that the virus happened upon the parasite at some point, found it to be an appropriate host, and evolved to manipulate the behavior of the parasite to ensure transmission. We have also discovered that the extent of viral mutation within the parasites is unusually high. Each infected parasite carries it's own mutation of the virus, which means that any host with multiple parasites will allow the mutated viruses to gene shuffle and create new strains. Many of the new strains lead to mutations of the host to varying degrees, resulting in the physical deformities we see in some hosts. This is almost certainly the cause of at least some of the abominations that have been uncovered as excavations towards the Inner continue.**
**However, I have also isolated hundreds of parasites that do not carry the virus and yet their behavior is identical to infected parasites, indicating the presence of collective intelligence. The parasites are highly social and will work together to ensure attachment to a host - using strategies that are far beyond the capability of an individual parasite. It is unlikely that these complex behaviors can all be attributed to implanted behaviors from the virus.
The relationship is certainly symbiotic. The virus triggers life-prolonging chemical production in the parasite, and the parasite provides a suspendable organic structure for the virus. The parasite transmits the virus to new hosts, and in turn the virus alters the behavior of the host to accept the presence of the parasite and inhibit the desire to remove it.**
**With so many mutations of NAM-V being created with each new host, there are potentially millions of strains of NAM-V that no longer require a parasite to transmit. This explains why Dr. Dauda's research shows such resilience in the virus. It evolves everywhere, in every way. This virus is an omnipotent force of nature.
The only method we have found of killing the virus is by stopping the biological functions of the host through hydrostasis (or death). Fortunately, the parasites have not yet found a way into the HSUs. However, after hydrostasis reinfection is possible. We continue to improve our sterilization and prophylaxis methods, but we are fighting a losing battle. I see no future for us if we do not seek the origin of these lifeforms and find an immune genome. If we are to survive NAM-V, we must turn to the nature that created it. Evolution has had millions of years to fight the virus. We have months.

Not an air circulation but water temp. map, svalbard near seas has warmed up
oh yeah, no. with how shit the ventalation is in garganta, we are getting contantly exposed from like a dozen sources. this is one of the reasons why it is important to remember that the infection mechanic =/= nam-v
(we know this because of recorded logs with the syringes having the side-effects as shown in game (where they give infection stacks), despite also being shipped in from off-site and before total outbreak within garganta)
(not to mention how disinfect stations and packs literally just wouldn't work whatsoever in lore, it'd be laughable)
as to what infection mechanic really is, I'm not sure, but it's likely some form of toxic dust or something in the air. idk. shrugs
yeah is it the same virus?
is what the same virus?
infection mechanic is NOT nam-v.
^
I can tell you it is not dust
damn global warming!
i'm just saying, idk what it is, but we can rule out nam-v.
the logs give us that, at least.
Maybe there should be efforts towards finding out the infection
im guessing the secret commands arent lore accurate?
there are a couple things we've never figured out. stuff like the collector audio log, ARGs we never managed to crack.
no, they are not.
The secret commands were supposed to just that
Aside from the in lore building one
The one with bishop's facebook account or smth
at least not to my knowledge
but i'm not too familiar with them in general
I might be of use depending on what needs cracking
The infection does seem easy to figure out though
cuz if the fog one was then one could argue that its some sort of in house infection someone created to make sure that the entire place dies as a hail mary but its quite a strech to make that one work
good luck. a LOT of people have looked into it
and we've solved really crazy ARGs before

You forgot technological innovation, revised medical practices and discoveries. He looks younger because of yes of course hydrostasis but probably (as an educated guess) also because of medical improvements
i'm proud to have helped solve this one, specifically the first step with base64
how did you get there.... oh, you scrolled up
It equally depends where bishop stayed or which country he stayed, because health care could vary and the time given for said country to also receive these "new practices"
As dumb as it sounds, these are factors you must take note of
These things happened many times in history
Especially with Covid 19
some countries got vaccines much later/earlier than others.
look, i'm just gonna say, it doesn't help that he spent 2 years on the desert hellscape Destination.
also we don't know when he was put into the program iirc
so we can't know for certain how old he is biologically
(specifically the final numbers)
But we do know that he looks younger than what he is
...yes
compared to when he was born, and not biologically, yes.
the coordinates for Destination
it is in the butterfly nebula.
oh ok
NGC 6302 (also known as the Bug Nebula, Butterfly Nebula, or Caldwell 69) is a bipolar planetary nebula in the constellation Scorpius. The structure in the nebula is among the most complex ever seen in planetary nebulae. The spectrum of Butterfly Nebula shows that its central star is one of the hottest stars known, with a surface temperature in ...
I mean what you gotta do at this point is do points of reference (date of hydrostasis creation, date of birth, etc..)
the MWP is moving us thousands of light years in seconds
then you can find his age
and also moving us to a different universe, but the light years thing is cool too
thats why i couldnt find any info on it when i typed in the cords
yeah, they aren't earth GPS coords lol
average BMW driver
what software did you use and what conversions did you do, or how did you manipulate it
Because you can do a shit ton of things with audio
Did you run it backwards, etc..
they probably did everything one could come up with in at least an hour
they prolly have a list somewhere too
Right now I don't have a darn thing coming up to my head even though I vaguely remember some scarce or unused ways to visualize audio
which we don't know. we know roughly when the game takes place. 2063. we know he was born in 2001. we know that your first stay in hydrostasis is for a minimum period of two years. we know he spent two years on destination (~2 weeks earth time). He was hired by SMC (under davies) for a period between 05/18/2017 and 06/01/2020, but we don't know when he was taken into the program. there are a lot of things.
that audio is raw from the game.
he's gen z
i didn't do much of anything in attempts to crack it
the people that did mostly aren't around anymore.
not me, sadly.
unfort
he specifically was in for 12 months total.
idk how you'd math all that out
we don't know the amount of times he was active prior to gameplay or how long
I could math it, if I was good at maths
god i hate seeing american calander time
you could probably average out how long a completion is for every OG rundown and r8...
makes me so confooosed
but that is even more math
that is just copy pasted from the log.
we have one already.
is the rest of the stays in hydrostasis also time bound?
@rocky wraith
we had two
but punk hasn't been active in years.
beanz is an IRL biologist, training to join the RAF last i talked to him
interesting
But no mathematicians
we've had a lot of professional consults over the years.
but no, no mathematicians.
i would help if i knew more than calc 1 😭
I think that the problem is evident
and if i could be bothered, mathing on the side of grinding r2 out is NOT what i wanna do rn
i beg your pardon? we've translated 16th century colonial Spanish medical documents from the village of Ixil
we've done bonkers research
I do not want to argue and I did not mean to sound rude
But
Consult a mathematician.
we've solved every arg thrown at us... except that one
for what?
goddamn this game goes from 16th sentury to 21st (maybe even beyond?)
no lol. it was a dead end. the Libro De Chilam Balam De Ixil
was a fun adventure though
i remember we got an original copy from one of our more active users, who totally didn't pirate it from his university
Daraxus
in lore though the ancient mayans did fight the sleepers
What’s the math problem
Calculating times, dates, giving professional opinions, theorizing
I'm not a lore master (because you're teaching me right now) but a mathematician isn't useless even though things seem evident.
Things are revised all the time... Maybe a different perspective on things can help crack some mysteries and questions. Maybe brighten some dark spots that weren't seen before.
as to not be investigated by authorities pertaining to this matter (even tho swedish authorities dont), i have not interacted with this pirated content
it is what caused the mayan civilization to dissapear
and funnily enough, they won, at least won more than modern humanity
something
hoooooooh, i thought the virus would come a lot sooner
they got wiped out, but prevented a global extinction event
spiritual stuff
as far as we know the 16th century mayan outbreak was the first after the ship crashed 65 million years ago
at least it is the first recorded.
was the ship the asteroid or am i trippin (yes it was from what i googled)
and this was the second im guessing
actually no... yes... kinda
💀
the reason why Santonian even started excavating the site where garganta is today is because of an earthquake on the merida faultline
it is the most mirky shit ever
but potentially hundreds of red cross staff got infected
santonian confirmed torched them with flamethrowers
tf2 pyro moment
it was shortly after that they did a K-UX deepscan and saw what they thought was a meteor with trillions of dollars worth of iridium (it wasn't. it was the ship).

K-UX sounds uhhh how should i put this
We burn the spirits

gtfo lore is my hobby, not gtfo
anyways ima go to bed, need to be slightly awake for school

oh btw is there a mod that includes the old voice lines for the lore?
i'm not sure, but probably. i don't really mod much
that was the reason i even came into this chat like 2 hours ago
~2053?
yeah when does the end of the world start
might be pushing it a bit
gimme a sec
first confirmed infection outside of garganta was in maricopa florida, feb 2nd, 2053
Kevin Hart would still be alive
world collapsed entirely by 2059
Yep, Kevin lives
Are there celebrities that lived in the lore or no
Or known figures
of our day
i don't remember any irl celebs being mentioned.
anyways gn to both u 🫡
yes gn
gtfo even before the apocalypse was very dystopian
Dreyfus owned practically half of the planet
very corporate overlord
They bought BlackRock and tencent
what we hear about on the surface is mainly;
- news reports
- CDC/WHO announcements
- military broadcasts/daylight mission
- conspiracy theory radio, Mr. Truth
Mr truth probably has the most logs of any non-living character
his character is basically "what if the conspiracy theorist was right the whole time?"
so he talks a lot about dreyfus, garganta, kovac, and stuff
he was on the run for a long time, with kovac trying to hunt him down and kill him
he has logs in pretty much every rundown
recorded broadcasts, somehow saved to computers down here...
who knows why
he eventually killed his wife and fled into the mountains, then killed himself
or got killed by nam-v... i don't entirely remember
why the wife
both he and OG version of him have different fates
that seems off
he thought kovac replaced her with a clone
he was going crazy due to nam-v infection
but he's mr truth
(one of the primary symptoms)
(they didn't)
but what?
go ahead and say it
maybe i'm misremembering something
i've got the wiki on my other monitor, it's how i'm dragging and dropping sections of logs for quotes
but most of it i tell from memory
As you said he was a conspiracy theorist who was "right all along", and maybe kovac did replace his wife with a clone
Maybe you're working for kovac
arg!

State of Truth. Truth. I don't know how much... how much longer I can do this. They have taken... so much. I cannot rid myself of these demons. My hand has been forced. My soul has been stained. These insidious, malevolent... savages, will stop at nothing to inject their venom into us. They feed on me, on what's left of my humanity. Everything they touch is debased and violated. They poison the waters, they burn the crops, they subvert all that is good and... and... they turn those we love against us... They left me with no choice. No choice. The evidence was there. Once I saw through their veil of lies I knew had to act. They took her from me, destroyed anything that was left of her long ago. They took the one thing I loved and sent back a facsimile. A copy. A blighted, ugly version of the person I knew. It was... mercy. It was mercy... I am alone. Are you out there? Is anyone out there? Because there's no one left in here. God forgive me.

like, from a design standpoint
the frame of mind when writing him
During the 96 hour GTFO streamathon, we interviewed Lucas Schuneman, the voice actor behind the character of Mr. Truth in GTFO. They cover a wide range of topics, from how they first met to discussing the character himself and taking turns reading some of the script.

This is the first time i've seen a transcript of mr truth so i cannot confirm or deny if he speaks in this tone in every occasion
out of context, it sounds like a conspiracy theorist yelling at a demonic company
you could argue that the words "blight, venom, feed on me, humanity" are nam v
which is fair
gotcha he did go slightly mildly crazy
rundown 6 - 1st log. its just the order of them
i'm sending you them backwards
just the alt://truth logs, if that is okay
og and alt are different universes so have different personalities
I forget that there are 2 universes
TRUTHALTR1
I guess this one isn't an audio log... wierd.
This is State of Truth AM. I want to talk about something... personal today. You know, I can't very well call myself Mr. Truth if I'm not honest with you, can I? Well, for the last few months, I have been... experiencing things that I can't explain. I have memories, memories that I have been told are false. Memories that even Mrs. Truth tells me are in my imagination. These memories are fleeting, but they are clear, precise recollections of events, they are... emotional connections to a truth that on the face of it seems wrong. I recall moments of conversations I have had with people I have no recollection of meeting. I see images of buildings that I have never seen, yet I know the shape. Sometimes, I will know what the caller is about to say the second before they say it. Now, understand me: this is not Deja Vu. This is something that I know, in my gut, is truth - just not the truth of my present, or of this history. I... hmmm... how can I explain? I recall, very clearly, that the Merida quake happened on March 15th 2049. That date is precise and clear in my mind - and it's wrong. The quake happened in April, It's in all the papers, all of the reports, all of the books. The great Merida quake... of April, 2049. I even know what I was doing on the day it happened, and that day was in April, but in my gut, I know it happened in March. I can SEE it. Is there anyone else out there experiencing something similar? Are some things different as you remember them? Tell me I'm not alone in this. Something... has changed. You know the number. Call.
from the alt:// logs alone, you can really tell from the beginning to the end as nam-v slowly takes him.
he's on to stuff.. but he just gets unhinged.
Been nice talking to you but I have to eat and
feed my tarantula that I have been stalling for an hour
fun fact:
In both worldlines, the warden sealed the doors to the surface, leaving tens of thousands to die, trapped within garganta.
In OG, only the virus got out, so eventually life on earth could have recovered... albiet, with the vessel remaining as a ticking time bomb.
In ALT://, both the parasite and the virus broke out, so eventually ALT:// earth would have ended up like Destination, were it not for the R8 Worldline 🍝
he's giving me the look
you have to eat your tarantula?
ah. full stops. ||
WAIT I JUST REALIZED
hm?
much better
All that aside, very interesting and every time I come here I learn more
But not all
Only more
I am always around.
Keeps the mind thirsty for more
ok food,
good morning/noon/evening/night/earth cycle
Coordinated Universal Time (UTC)
And I’m in now!
Why ate the players referred to ad Prisoners in the game. After learning from the like 3 logs I have ever found that the Warden and Biocom are programs (maybe organizations?), it never made sense to me that we’re called Prisoners.
warden and biocom are the same entity, but the warden is a malware that is running ontop of biocom which is an ai managing the facility
We started calling ourselves prisioners
Since we have no free Will
The warden realised this and started calling us like that too
free will 😔
In the beginning, given the names for everything I assumed we were convicts doomed to search the Complex for these artifacts (the boosters) and maybe simply clearing the monsters and turning back on core equipment and stuff.
two, well, three reasons.
i remember back when we still had to pay for our will 😭
But then like, obviously what I said above isn’t correct so I started to think about it.
Being a KSO is having no free Will
You cant think or act by yourself
Hence prisioners
touche
i gambled mine away
😔 ✊
- as KSOs, the overwhelming majority of us were United States Inmates, kidnapped from prisons by Kovac.
- We are "prisoners" under biocom, essentially slaves, without the ability to resist or disobey commands.
- We are trapped, "imprisoned" within the complex, as the rest of the world is an apocalyptic wasteland, where all life is long dead.
eh, kind of.
Warden is not an organization
He is an alien
From the collectors species
it is complicated.
it is not entirely known if it digitized itself, or if it still has a physical form somewhere in the ship, or if it ever had a physical form to begin with
but it and biocom are different.
biocom was a Kovac AI designed to control the KSOs.
the warden simply hijacked the AI's systems, using it to control the KSOs. To this day, biocom is still trying to delete the warden or otherwise rid it from its systems
we aren't searching the complex for anything. we have no choice. earth is dead. we don't have free will. we follow the orders of biocom.
we were down here before the apocalypse, and still are after it.
Most of the time we are helping the warden to gain access/Open different parts of the complex
through most of r7 we are helping schaeffer, not because we want to, but because we are required to.
its kind of hard to visualize true lack of free will
there is no decision, we just do
biocom makes up our minds for us
ironically we seem to have more free will under the warden to conduct our missions than under biocom, but it still isn't much.
we know this because of the ef01 Stokes logs regarding the expedition to Destination, which Bishop took part in.
in those audio logs he is pretty much a machine with flesh.
the infamous broom closet log also helps detail this.
**Ms. Klein,
I’ve been going through the Biocom logs from last month (March-April 2054). I do this every so often to confirm that objective stacking and prioritization is functioning as expected. It’s usually all fine except for the odd hiccup if an operative has an unexpected reaction to a PRDM or a temperature dropped in their pod or something - meaning it’s invariably an outside issue and not Biocom related.
But last month we had two issues with the objective stack which seem to come directly from Biocom. These are two seperate operatives of different generations, using different boosters, on two unrelated missions.**
**The first issue I noticed was the operative was ordered to escort a group of environment techs through a restricted zone, surveil them as they cleared some blockage in a vent, then escort them out of the restricted zone. The operative completed the first four entries on the objective stack, but then added a new objective to the stack. It went to a storage closet, unlocked the door, waited for 6 minutes inside the closet, then returned to the environment tech and continued with the original stack. It didn’t take anything from the closet, didn’t speak to anyone, and didn’t initia any combat. It’s very weird. I don’t know where the new objective came from, or how it slotted in to the stack so easily - but only Biocom can do this. It’s almost as if someone was testing me to see if we’d notice. I’d appreciate it if you told me if this was a test of some kind. I don’t want to burn hours on something like this if it was contrived.
The second issue is likely more related to you. An operative told the scientist they were guarding that Project Insight “you must stop”. The scientist asked the KSO to repeat the statement, but the KSO ignored him and resumed its patrol.**
**Marcus,
We have seen similar issues with operatives making statements that seem to come out of nowhere, but that’s usually related to some outside stimulus or a poorly structured objective module. Please send me the ID of the operative so I can offline them and research. As for the other issue - maybe the schematics it had were corrupted and it thought the closet was a waypoint? I doubt if we need to worry about it.
Angela**
the KOVAC personnel treat them as less than human
because, they pretty much are at this point.
the lights are off upstairs.
they are machine.
tools.
The warden is more like
"Complete all missions doing whatever it takes"
i guess a 4th reason would be us being prisoners in our own bodies.
like in r7, early missions especially, schaeffer blocks our way, and only lets us through if we do what he wants, (hsu vault, hydrokinetic case).
we complete those side objective not to help schaeffer, but so we can continue our assignment.
its a much looser leash, but we are still on a leash
r7d2, you could make an argument for us going out of our way to help schaeffer, because we are out of range, like he was, when he tore out his chip.
and on that note, what kind of morphine and surgical impliments did he get ahold of to not just immediately die after tearing out a giant ass chip from his brain/brainstem?
The chip is probably really really small
So maybe he just had a small but constant bleed
He could have used some bandages or clothes
he'd have to get through the skull is the biggest issue
that kind of wound isn't just gonna close on its own
also given it goes through to your eyes... its in there pretty fucking deep
or at least has wires or sensors..
that is a whole hell of a lot of "potential to go wrong"
henriksson uses a machine to remove his..
so you could handwaive that
but i'm not sure for schaeffer.
Henrikson
but yeah, no.
the surface is 110% dead.
we are all that is left of humanity.
(barring ALT://Durant & Co)
were it not from NAM-V and Parasitidae Garganta slaughtering anything that moves, it would be from the many worldlines fusing together in bizarre ways.
r8 is an end of the world scenario after the world has already ended.
not by extinction, but by obliteration
consider, before the spaghetti, Destination in its home worldline was thousands of light years away.
for rock, sand and crystal to be warped underground into garganta...
hell, let alone the fucking mountain-side of alpha one
with how much of the universe is empty space,
just from sheer randomness new york could be replaced by a vaccum
the clasp of oxygen rushing in alone would destroy...
its madness.
if we could see the surface during r8, it'd be an absolutely gorgeous mess
a grain of sand replaced with equal volume center of a star, etc etc
and people thought R6 and the introduction of worldlines in general was a clusterfuck
part of me doesn't think the devs truly considered the ramifications of this while writing.
That is crazy.
So….
What purpose does it serve for Biocom to keep making us perform tasks in the complex (or KSO’s in general)? Are the four players, Schaeffer, and Henrikson, the only human beings left in the whole Complex as well?
So therefore there is no one to change what Biocom is doing?
Its warden the one making us do tasks
Yes theres other humans
And other teams doing stuff at the same time as us
biocom hasn't given us an order once in the entirety of gameplay to my knoweldge.
KDS Deep can hold 32k humans
there are ~32,000 total KSOs
in staff, hundreds of thousands, but all except for Dauda and Schaeffer to our knowlege are also long dead.
schaeffer and dauda only survived because they entered hydrostasis, and were automatically implanted with control chips
For example
In R5B4 we act as bait for the sleepers while other team is doing whatever they are doing
they aren't ksos... but they are ksos.
Oh interesting.
if you'd like a basic synopsis of the lore, i'd highly reccomend reading the GTFO Lore For Dummies documents (.pdf and .txt) in the pins of this channel.
they exclusively cover pre-apocalypse lore, so no gameplay spoilers.
Oh cool.
the warden took control of biocom a long time ago, secretly, back when actual people were still alive down here
~6-7 years ago
Yeah honestly I haven’t been checking a lot of terminals for logs because A- I’m chasing first time clears and recording them, B- super stressed out, and C- maybe not super thinking about it.
Oh interesting. One of the only logs I found mentions that I think.
then i'd for sure recomend reading the docs. I can answer anything they don't, and otherwise give further clarification on points if needed.
it's about a 20 minute read between the two
I recommend checking for logs once in a while
Some logs are a bitch to get to
It's better to get them once you are there
there are over 200 of them
though ~60 aren't or never were in-game.
I used to look for them all the time but I feel like every terminal I found before R3 the logs were always just like server talk and code.
If a terminal says there is one log
makes sense statistically that 2-3 would be behind bullshit error alarms
it is autogen status
If it says 2 or more then there is an actual log
if a terminal says it has 2 or more, it actually has a lore log.
Yes Autogen status or something is what I’d always get.
autogen logs are entirely randomized.
they are mostly an old keyword puzzle
but don't give you much information on their own
terminals in the environment that look like they say stuff don't either, barring a few exceptions. it is all copy-pasted autogen status
Lol I used to check a lot of those too
OG picture detected

Why were you typing the commands in chat
it was 2019, half a decade ago, i don't remember

i have more suspicious chat pictures
Yeah prolly telling someone how to use terminal. Teammate prolly didn’t have mic or something.
@eternal talonyou said somehting earlier about one of the crew members being the only one who survivves
why is that?
i'm not entirely sure what you mean
dauda?
yes
dauda wasn't actually a KSO.
he worked for Insight.
he was a scientist, in charge of human experimentation with the virus with the goal of finding a cure
(a cure which doesn't exist)
This man solos GTFO
bros unarmed at 45 percent doesnt care
by consistently getting stuck in walls?
so how did he survive?
he was one of the last surviving humans (discounting KSOs) within garganta.
he was trapped in his lab with sleepers breaking down the door
he entered a hydrostasis unit to avoid being torn to pieces
Is dauda chipped? i have a vague memory that he climbed into a HSU when the lab was attacked, but how did he become part of Legion?
yeah
this is detailed in an audio log. i can go get it if you'd like
don't bother its ok
Theory says the HSU gives You a chip if You don't have one
the chipping seems to be automatic, as schaeffer was made into a KSO the same way
Same in the ALT universe
You should hear Maddox ASMR
i might skip r4d2 and r4e1 at this point to get to more lore
the consequences of your brain melting inside your skull
so what I gather is: everything happens similarly for both timelines until r6, were the ogs do r7 and then their part of r8 whilst the alt jump straight from r6 to their part of r8. In r8 the ogs crew kill the shaeffers and get the cubes before the alts get them and escape.
is that it?
pretty much.
there is a sub-plot on the OG side of r8 with schaeffer trying to cause a bunch of meltdown with the nuclear reactors
and with ALT:// trying to find the coordinates to the clean worldline in one of Insight's datahubs.
And we betraying Schaeffer
so alt does the work for the ogs
OG also helps ALT
They give them the Project Insight data
is there a lore justification for the other non-playable corpses of BWHD in R8?
Multiple worldline colliding into each other
Which means multiple us
they are all different versions of our quad from the spaghettified worldlines that died.
it seems weird that characters supposedly know this is going on and they don't comment on it
brain chips will do that to you
ALT:// syndrome
what is BWHD
BishopWoodsHackettDauda
spaghetiffied?
there are more corpses in other levels too
last count was something like half a dozen different dead versions of our quad
why spaghettified though?
that is just what i jokingly call r8
Because múltiple worldlines into each other
Like spaghetti
oh
the matter wave projector is dragging a ton of different worldlines (noodles) together
into a mess
(spaghetti)
for some reason everyone is coming to the same dimension, each thinking it is their original
so a ton of worldines clashed together but only the ogs survived?
not really clashed
the matter wave projector was just merging them into one single worldline
with terrible consequences as a result
thats what i meant
^
were they all trying to do the same thing
as in escape?
like trying to get the cubes
Considering how one random team had the MWP, yes
perhaps. we don't know.
