I just caught sight of a preliminary report on the item they're calling the Data Block - artifact 13 of the Hammerstein Collection

The bizarre disappearance of the equipment while working on Artifact 13 suggests some method of transformation or even transportation beyond our current understanding.

So now we have this mask. I don’t know if this means anything, but I’m stumped. I have secured the item in the artifact vault should you want us to run any further tests on it.
As of the blast in 2053, insight seems to believe they have collected most, if not all of the artifacts.
We have created quark-gluon plasma in hadron colliders, but nothing even close to this power or temperature, so how were the QGP streams formed? Is there a machine or artifact we have yet to find?
in the ten years since they've never mentioned finding another one, and even still, only refer to the matter wave projector in the singular in logs.
also doesn't make sense that after the matter wave collapse, WRDN/biocom is still corrupted

so it can't be the moment we moved to alt

I already am disappointed with how they took the story
like im not sure how they handled gardens tile, as i doubt it was in r6's code
but i seriously dont expect the solve-all answers people are hoping for.
gameplay alone, they dont have the capacity to make cutscenes or the like...
its really annoying not knowing what they will/wont use of their r8 tiles in the code. they've got a fair bit in there that they've done some work on i've heard
but it really just looks like most of the same stuff with a bit of KDS-Deep
in terms of an ending, i think it'll be a cliffhanger
because as far as i know, thats really all that can be done
it'd require a major effort to made something special just for the last level
and knowing they've shifted their development to their new game as far back as r7~ gamescom, i really doubt they'd have the manpower to either try, or to pull off someting like credits and a finale
i think being optimistic, we might get a sort walking segment post-teleport if that's where they end the story
but all expeditions end the same way. that same "expedition completed" screen cut with music and screams
that by itself i feel is probably the biggest challenge for a non-cliffhanger ending
idk if this is agame where a credits scene would b done tbh
like on paper for an endin sure but for replays of the mission or just general, way to end things after idk, the E1 that it could be

tbh what i wouldnt dislike is, more of r6d1 like, where its a big climatic maybs even gameplay ending and u get a moment maybs of lore or whatev, and then its still an extract scan with the end screen

now the transition from us killing the kraken to wandering back to extract....
"how will they finish the game" has been a major ranting point since i think at least r7.
a lot of people dont think they can do it in a satisfying way with how they've set up their game

in lore parts, its moreso they've made a mountain of things that are unexplained that they wanted us to theorize on, but then they haven't given themselves enough time to actually explain and give a good conclusion to all of these story beats
like, for one example, what the fuck was the deal with the goldie cipher? what's the deal with rebecca and howard stokes not being allowed to talk to eachother?
they set up a mini-story in r7 with the two stokes' and the infection/lockdown of Houston, and then just never continued the story in the logs, just completely dropped it out of nowhere
that was a lead-up log for r7 too. it was in the corrupted folder to lead us into r7 to build hype, but was ultimately completely meaningless
some stories add onto the lore with new content, but gtfo just bloats it more often than not
it would be neat to see like log books of the differnt enemy types sort of like risk of rain or something
ya just something to be able to see the logs that you have already found and then after running into enemies x amount of times you get a little description of them
Btw, the Lore Database should be up to date again.

First r7a1, then b1 b2 b3, THEN c1 c2 c3, etc

In R6B1 we use an artifact to get to our destination.
BUT! We don't bring it back with us, Warden extracts us rather hastily. And yet... We have the artifact back in, uh... R6D1? I think?
But in R6C3 our objective is to distract the horde while "another objective is being achieved". Our current theory is that we play a distacting while another squad goes back to R6B1 and retreives the artifact for us, hence why we have it back in D1.
Although honestly my memory is super foggy. Do we have it back? Have we seen it ever again? Dammit, not i'm suspicious. Where's that damn wiki...

There are so many discrepancies and uncertanties that only R8 can and have to answer, and dear god the chances it will be a good one are not great.

I know this is quite old lore, but does anyone know what the "scientific" names in alt R3A1 log 7GY-HYP-SDW are meant to refer to?
the first one, "Gallus {genus}" seems to be referring to standard sleepers, and maybe the "dark skinned variant" is shadows, as as I'd assumed the last entry, "Gallus Horridus" refers to chargers. "Gallus Capreolatus" I assume is a scout, or maybe a snatcher, given the mention of tendrils, but I don't know what "Gallus Reptus" or "Gallus Jaculus" refer to, though I assume tank and mother since there aren't any other enemy varieties left lol
First one refers to regular sleepers, the white and red variant (we only see white ingame), second i think its chargers, 3rd is scout

Nothing so detailed. Most of the objectives are pretty boring. We fix power supplies, acquire access codes, collect DNA data, etc.
But they're all just grains in the sand.

usually all the rundowns kinda amount to somethin, but that somethin is usually just very very clear on two, R5 and R7
the arc from r1 to r3, r4 and r6 are kinda fluff arcs where we do cool stuff but it doesn't amount to a lot inside the general story

R6: get genome data
R7: create new unit with new baby and stronger hormones

The mission / objectives are, but the lore itself is currently too complicated for that.
Rayalot's assessment is probably the most accurate one for true "chronological" experience, but i don't think it matters at the moment until we have R8 context (if there will be any).

I don't think they're here for the Virus. Or for Sleepers for that matter. They're here after literally anything else, but Virus keeps screwing them over. So they tried to extract (collect, if you will) what little remains of humanity, but now they're getting screwed over by OG Schaeffer who keeps puttings dents in their plans and (presumably) dooming humanity for good.
I don't think its a jungle that awaits us on the other side of the jump. More like a... glass jar.
