the trojan that schaeffer and henrikkson had us install was into a biocom server mainframe, not the warden, so i doubt it would be that as they'd only have as much strength at stopping the warden as biocom does, and as we see in that same room, that's not great. biocom has been trying to delete the warden for years unsuccessfuly.

in regards to the warden, depending on what you believe its origin is, it is highly probable that it made use of some allen technology unknown to us as we can see in the alt//s, warden/insight has knowledge and has catalogued the complex and its staff on other variant earths

And so the only thing that gets left are the suburbs

#

So it actually would just slow down

cold sphinx
#

Was the hydrolik collection case

#

#

Kinda weird for hsus to not have those pre installed

burnt wren
#

Warden probably has an automated system for that somewhere

#

Like a dedicated can opener

#

Shaff DIY'd it

cold sphinx
#

Likely hood of that being KDS deep only

#

And others being high maintenanced

#

@burnt wren wait R6D3

#

Dr durant was moving with bishops team?

#

I thought bishop and his team got lost when R6B1 warp gated them away

#

@eternal talon feed me lore

burnt wren
#

Rather: Bishop was with Durant's team

#

The assigned KSO security probably

cold sphinx
#

Bishop and his team worked like robots

#

And would not listen

#

And

#

The quantum tether

#

On our mission its broken

#

But to durant and the warp gate expeditions

#

They just lost it

burnt wren
#

Shrug

cold sphinx
#

I mean

#

Weirdly enough

#

We warped there

#

And only dowload the nav cordinates

#

It had nothing to do with the quantum tether and telemetry was a lil hitched off thr sides

#

But we still was transferred back

#

I guess tether broke and brought us back

burnt wren
#

I'm afraid to even speculate how it works.

#

I believe one of the logs did allude to possibility of sabotage, but i'm not sure

#

Small chance Warden got something to do with all of it, but... No evidence either way.

cold sphinx
#

But the warden might put that objective stack and took over the pull back protocols maybe

#

It could had left us but the tethers gonna break anyways

burnt wren
#

Easily a possibility

#

Especially since there is a log in the R6 as well that pretty much talks about Warden testing his waters

#

Random KSOs doing random ass shit no one can explain

#

And one of them directly tells a member of Insight Team to stop...

#

Assuming it came directly the Warden - he's very invested in that particular project.

#

My personal guess: Project Insight is doing research into the aliens themselves, perhaps autopsies and other immoral shit like that. Assuming Warden is playing on on aliens' team - the fact that it attempted to interfere... Is rather telling. That was an exceptionally risky one, and it did it anyway.

harsh pike
#

are checkpoints 'canon'?

#

characters react to using them saying shit like "holy fuck, that was close!" but...how

raw terrace
#

i would doubt, i mean out of context just sounds like they may b talkin of like pats events of the alarm they just did or some sneak or somethin

plush nest
#

Maybe it’s them reacting to them “replaying” the whole level to get to that point

#

But slediman already sort of implied that

coral gorge
#

other than that, the only implication would be some sorta quantum anomaly thing that sends them back in time... but that wouldnt make much sense

harsh pike
#

the only theory I had is that they're somehow going through a 'simulation' of what's to come and then they get sent back to reality

#

but it makes no sense how they'd know what things are like past the door

cold sphinx
#

they really seem out of the story

#

why would you have some time reseting waypoints running around a end of the world story right?

harsh pike
#

no idea

#

but they have voice lines for it, for some reason

cold sphinx

cause you literally die

solemn kraken

Ok asking the real questions here: We know the Alts are Alts cause the glowsticks are yellow. Our timeline has green glowsticks. But then in what timeline where we when the glowsticks suddenly were Orange???? I 'm sure there is a secret log out there explaining it

burnt wren
#

Unfortunately not, but if we were to entertain that idea - its probably the reality where Halloween is a world wide most popular religion

solemn kraken
#

Lets call this 3rd timeline the trump timeline for ease

burnt wren
#

Real answer: halloween events are never canon

#

Unless devs try REAL hard

solemn kraken
burnt wren
#

Eh, not really

solemn kraken
burnt wren
#

If i werent lazy i would go on investigation which light colours is objectively the best for glowsticks to perform their function

#

Because, imho, green glowsticks are just an aesthetic choice more than anything else

burnt wren
#

Like the reason why all the warning signs are agressive orange is because orange is the most rare colours in nature

#

So it catches our eyes a lot better than many other colours

#

Why not just white glowsticks

#

Or like... Generic flashlights washed out yellow

#

And why the fuck garganta has so many of them, everywhere

solemn kraken
burnt wren

I think someone put the wrong 0 on the glowstick order

raw terrace

Its a mid tier error alarm level, that's it

No unique enemies, no sudden surprises (aside from alarm itself), nothing.

No excuse.

terse knoll
#

Hello, I am interested in this game's lore and what crimes are the prisoners in for?

#

Seems like death row but with extra steps

burnt wren
#

Well...

raw terrace
#

um, we arent technically prisoners- not at least, all of us

burnt wren
#

Woods killed an entire office of fellow marines for religious reasons

#

Just walked in with a shotgun and started roleplaying doomguy

#

Took a dozen bullets before he stopped

terse knoll
#

so deathrow for him

coral gorge
#

bishop blackmailed the CEO of a company that owned thr complex

burnt wren
#

Hackett submitted himself willingly after effectively commiting a war crime on civilians and realising that he feels nothing

#

Bishop black mailed a high company executive, who erased his existence and then submitted him here as a punishment

terse knoll
#

so 2 mass murderers and 2 blackmailers

burnt wren
#

And finally Dauda... Dauda was actually a scientist in the complex, but he ends up being "the operative" one way or another.

raw terrace
#

we are kinda just resources for the warden, but if we dont die is better for it, not really deathrow

coral gorge
#

Yeah he becomes an operative to save himself

burnt wren
#

Technically we're not even prisoners

terse knoll
#

it's still death row

raw terrace
#

eh

burnt wren
#

We recently got a lore dump that the effect is backwards

raw terrace
#

:3

terse knoll
#

what's Hydrostasis?

burnt wren
#

Basically the company was running a brainwashing experiment where people are turned into basically zombies that follow orders, who are then hooked up to a facility-wide AI that controls them.

coral gorge
burnt wren
#

They are called KSOs - KOVAC Special Operatives.

coral gorge
#

your body doesnt age

#

but it has a side effect of breaking your memory

terse knoll
#

but you don't do anything either, they put the operator to sleep 24/7

burnt wren
#

But the AI in question got hacked and is currently under control of another AI... Who, for some reason, started calling KSOs prisoners. Not because it decided it to be so - but because, apparently, KSOs respond to orders better when reffered to that way.

coral gorge
#

artek i dont think you need to lore dump the entire story of the game

burnt wren
#

Eh, potato potatoe

#

Otherwise i'll be spreading misinformation

terse knoll
#

So how did we get aliens inside of oldest crater on the planet?

coral gorge
#

space asteroid that killed dinosaurs

#

got buried cause tectonic shifts and such

#

a company dug it up for some uranium stuff

lilac island
#

asteroid was a giant ship or something

raw terrace

[theres also a pinged document with almost all of the lore summarized!]

coral gorge

yeah it was prolly a ship

raw terrace

u can check that out too

coral gorge

terse knoll

ah so those are more or less lobotomized aliens?

coral gorge
#

not reay

lilac island
#

no

coral gorge
#

the aliens are gone

terse knoll

So what is a sleeper then?

burnt wren
coral gorge
burnt wren
#

We know they existed, we know some things belonged to them.

coral gorge
#

and most sleepers in game are humans

burnt wren
#

There is actually a huge hole in our knowledge right now - Project Insight.

coral gorge
#

or rather were humans

terse knoll
#

so killing them is a mercy

coral gorge
#

most likely

#

we dont know if their brain still works

burnt wren
#

Its reffered in many a document, but no clear statment on what it is or what it does. But from few hints that we DO have (including Dauda's very own confession) - it appears they got access to living aliens and are performing some kind of experiments on them.

coral gorge
#

how tf did they have living aliens

unless these were sleepers

lilac island

burnt wren

burnt wren

coral gorge

lilac island
coral gorge
burnt wren
#

Stasis, time travel... Who knows, anything is possible in the moment.

lilac island
#

probably

burnt wren
#

As a said: the lore is currently unraveling at neck break speeds.

#

We went from haha some prisoners doing random shit in abandoned facility to multiverse and dimension jumps.

coral gorge
#

and id assume they found living sleepers rather than the actual aliens

burnt wren
#

Also a possibility. Maybe they're infected, but not fully transformed unlike our human counter parts

#

Actually... That might be the only explanation.

coral gorge
#

maybe they had better resistance

burnt wren
#

we have it on RECORD that sleepers are technically immortal as far as aging goes

terse knoll
#

So we just spear them in the head?

burnt wren
#

So if aliens are infected, but not quite fully mutated... yeah, poor bastards are cursed with ethernity of suffering.

#

And our beaitufl scientists got their hands on them, because fuck you.

coral gorge
#

good deal tbf

terse knoll

so what's up with their heartbeats stopping?

coral gorge
#

we dont know how a sleepers functions

#

all we know it has atleast one parasite in it

#

and obv the virus

burnt wren
#

yeah, 0 info on sleeper biology

#

we only know that they're mutants and what makes them

We can assert categorically that both NAM-V and Parasitidae Garganta are extraterrestrial in origin. There is no way of knowing for sure if they evolved in the same location (or even if they evolved at all), but we do know that the environmental conditions for both lifeforms was at least very similar as their structural framework share many features. It is highly likely they have the same origin, wherever that may be.

terse knoll
#

huh, so now we got alternate timelines?

#

reading the file

eternal talon
#

with the allen's artifact 13, the MWP, we have multiverse travel between worldlines, not timelines

#

its entirely separate universes.

#

like how on planet destination, time fundamentally flows faster. the laws of the universe can be different because they are different universes entirely

#

destination time is 85x faster than our own

terse knoll
#

how don't we wither there?

#

I think we are not affected

eternal talon
#

It’s not a relativity issue. This is a calculable change in the quantum frequency. Durant’s time was running faster than our time. And not by a little - by a lot. Back of the envelope math is 1 second in our quantum frequency is about 85 seconds in Durant’s quantum frequency. I mean I
[4.4 second silence]
Stokes
I want to scream but I don’t have the energy. There are places that pass through time at a different rate. This is multi-dimensional physics. This is a change in our fundamental understanding of the universe, or it’s a another universe, or there are multiple versions of this universe and we happened to pick up the trace of a different universe or
[6.7 second silence]

eternal talon
#

i explained this better a couple weeks ago... gimme a sec

#

Every different worldline exists in parallel simultaneously. Think of it as a set of waves stacked vertically ontop of eachother. Each one vibrates at a different frequency. Everything in a given worldline vibrates at that same frequency. The MWP tunes the frequency of the individual that used it to the frequency of a different worldline. This is method a. They don't change location, they are just slowly moving frequency until it matches another worldline in the stack.
The allens use this method, in combination with localized teleportation simultaneously
So think of it as a person moving at an angle, both horizontally across space, and vertically across wavelengths

terse knoll
#

this is Interstellar level of plotline

eternal talon
#

not really... the black hole gargantua was speeding up time in a very realistic way

#

astronauts experience this RIGHT NOW irl in a very minor way

#

this is just flipping the table and changing the rules

#

moving faster to increase speed of relative time (to you) doesnt change anything, its just gravity

#

destination's worldline is changing fundamentals, irregardless of gravity

terse knoll
#

so in space time goes faster?

eternal talon
#

the same effect would also happen in destination's worldline, just as per that universes' rules, 85x faster

eternal talon
terse knoll
#

like the sun?

eternal talon
#

Gravitational time dilation is a form of time dilation, an actual difference of elapsed time between two events as measured by observers situated at varying distances from a gravitating mass. The lower the gravitational potential (the closer the clock is to the source of gravitation), the slower time passes, speeding up as the gravitational pote...

#

this is special relativeity, but yes, technically over any mass

#

but like i said before, destination doesnt do that

#

it changes the rules

#

there could be universes out there where time just straight up flows backwards

#

or gravity as a rule doesnt exist

#

or.... literally anything

terse knoll
#

My brain hurts

eternal talon
#

and the allens have been to countless of these universes

eternal talon
#

brain blasts arent conductive to introductory learning

eternal talon
#

its teleportation where the location you are teleporting to can get a bit wacky

#

you could meet another version of yourself if you teleported to an alternate (alt//) earth for example

#

the planet destination exists in our own worldline

cunning light
#

Unless your alt:// version would have taken the same trip at the same time, to a different alt// earth

eternal talon
#

we teleport to that planet AND to destination's worldline

#

changing both location, and the quantum frequency

#

wait, isnt this just rick and morty rules?

burnt wren
#

There is also a log describing that Garganta staff noticed that in one of the zones time kept dilating. To be precise they noticed that for some reason all the clocks in that area kept getting stalled resulting in 230 seconds difference a day

eternal talon
#

like a magnet affecting things nearby for example

burnt wren
#

Either:
A) that zone was close to teleportation devices and the devices is whats doing that
or
B) That zone is very deep and close to... Whatever is down there.

same with speed, the closer you approach the speed of light, the slower time passes relative to you.

#

the passage of time does not change for the observer, it just slows down for you. you travel through time slower than they do

cunning light
#

Indeed. The article Frosty mentioned earlier takes note of experiences where clocks ran faster when they were sent into Earth's upper atmosphere than on ground level

queen gazelle
#

WERID way of think about it

finite vine
#

yep, within large gravitational fields, time slows

#

and at high velocities as well

#

and I think what the devs are getting at with the MWP and the alternate dimensions, the "quantum frequency" is just a parameter that determines how fast time passes normally in the dimensions.

#

and when the MWP switches you to these frequencies and transports you to these alternate dimensions, time passes differently relative to the main dimension

cunning light

They could have introduced the idea of "your reality vibrates at X frequency, therefore time passes at Y(X) speed" indeed

I have a far stretched theory that we might sacrifice ourselves for the aliens. Humanity's done without some deus ex machina happening.
So that leaves us with our 2nd best bet: aliens. We know they're here. We have Dauda pretty much confirming that they are alive in one way or another.
Either we will end up freeing them and letting them go on instead of humanity, or perhaps we will grant them a merciful death and call it a day.

On the subject of gear with us in the HSU I can't imagine warden has downtime for us between missions. My understanding (during the events of GTFO that is) we are cold stored in HSU until needed. Also based on the logs where it mentions a prisoner in innovating the use of Cfoam launchers during a mission, we pick up most of our gear during missions. Likely we had some gear with us at the start of events and then gathered more through different missions, it's just not shown as a game mechanic as that may disrupt the flow of the game

#

So if your prisoner finds an SMG on a dead guard he probably just extracts with that and wakes up later with it still on him. Maybe an inlore explanation for why we never start fully stocked either

short gazelle
pastel ether
#

Then again, the lore reason why we never start off fully stocked is probably due to the Warden needing to ration the limited ammunition stockpile in the armory - and it's probably a finite resource. Like the prisoners.

#

However, the C-Foam launchers, hammers, and drillheads (or spears) probably were looted into the armory by the prisoners, seeing as these definitely were not manufactured for the intended purpose of being used as weapons

#

(Not sure if the mine deployer was initially produced as mining equipment or as a weapon though. Given the setting of Garganta as a great big underground complex, a tool designed for easily deploying and defusing explosive charges probably would have had some utility for blast mining, but the tripwires on the mines indicate that they were intended for 'weapon' use cases - in which case, they may have been intended for above-ground perimeter anti-tresspasser measures rather than below-ground stuff (potential risks of cave-ins))

#

and ofc the sledgehammer was probably mining equipment, and the spear is a repurposed drillhead (again, mining equipment) - almost definitely looted by prisoners once they were no longer being used for mining-related use cases

crude jacinth
#

I'm saying there's likely no period between missions where we are out of the hsu and conscious. I don't the the warden changes our armaments between levels. We remain under and inside hsu from mission to mission

#

Initially yes we probably have our kso loadouts though

lilac island
#

The mission you start with 0 ammo conflicts with this theory

#

In the briefing the warden states that the objective is simple and so isn't giving resources to the prsioners for that mission

#

So the warden is capable of manipulating our equipment while we are in hydrostasis

cold sphinx
#

youre saying that we get pulled out and then put back in after with none is a manipulation of some what an entity

#

and R7C3 is a example?

lilac island
#

The Intel for the mission shows that the prisoners who were sent before us were surprised by having no supplies during the expedition

#

So we were unaware to it happening hence it would seem we weren't pulled out of hydrostasis for warden to do that

cold sphinx
#

cause of other teams perhaps

#

and the normal distribuition was cut off due to acessive reaches of multiple teams

#

andddddd

#

the reason because the mission is a storage facilities

#

holding much needed supplies

lilac island
#

The Intel states that it's a simple objective and for that reason the warden is reducing supplies given

cold sphinx
#

and as every mission we load in with default amount

#

we here have nothing till then

#

soooooo by wardens promt protocols

#

we get none

#

not out of wardens being a learning curve but by mission locked

lilac island
#

Rudimentary objective, reduced resource distribution

#

R7C3

#

And the prisoners before us were surprised during the mission at their lack of supplies so

Gtfo ultimate edition: now includes prisoner shaving minigame

#

gotta have something to do while one mf won't ready up

cold sphinx
#

not all out

#

meanin they didnt have the syringe and cfoams like we do

#

so likely we started at the same starting stuff (amm/tools) but at another entrance that had plenty of it

harsh pike
#

the warden seeing the previous crew of prisoners get absolutely slaughtered and deciding to send another in, also with no ammo PirateSimon

lilac island
#

Note they say "this can't get worse"

#

As if they've just been sent in and noticed it

#

So it really seems they weren't aware of it

cold sphinx
#

for all we know

harsh pike
cold sphinx

they could be ass deep down into it

harsh pike
#

not really a way to brief us on things when it's "Wake up, and drop down"

cold sphinx
#

and have now noticed

lilac island
#

As if they didn't have the choice to equip themselves- because the warden does while we're in hydrostasis in some way

cold sphinx
#

like

#

we have no sense of time down there

#

so all were both sayin is built on our own beliefs

#

reduced resources doenst mean none is given

#

thats all ill say

lilac island
#

We start with none though
As did the team before us

cold sphinx
harsh pike
#

yeah that comm log sounds like they got out of the pods, checked their mags and were like "oh."

lilac island
#

"I got nothing"

cold sphinx
#

comns happens anytime lol

lilac island
#

They're speaking as if it's the beginning of the mission

#

Which makes sense because we do start with 0 ammo

cold sphinx
#

mhnm

#

@eternal talon

#

splain

lilac island
#

I know the comms can come from any point of the mission but this time they're speaking as if they've just dropped in and saw that they have no supplies and are surprised by that

#

Like they didn't do it

cold sphinx
#

true

#

i see noproblem there

#

still

lilac island
#

And the intel for the mission implies to me that the warden is the one that took our ammo before it

cold sphinx
#

it is too vauge to even confirm a strong bind like that tbh

harsh pike
#

can't confirm either

#

but its a pretty safe bet
