yeah

topaz hollow
#

(Google it)

#

That's why I think it would be cool to hear echoes of distant gunfire or sleeper roars and combat ambience in general

#

If supposedly there's other teams around

coral gorge
#

in R5B4 we also take part in a diversion protocol

eternal talon
#

real shame

topaz hollow
#

Isn't that because we have a GO/T/F/O line of KSOs, one of each

coral gorge
#

yes

topaz hollow
#

Schaeffer's squad dies with 2 Ts, 1 GO, and I think 1 F KSO

eternal talon
#

the generations of Kovac Security Operatives. Genesis, Tau, Faulty, Sigma. (yes 'O' is Sigma for some reason)

coral gorge
#

Did his die?

#

yeah

#

hackett is sigma righy?

topaz hollow
#

There's a log detailing how KSO-Schaeffer gets lost a second time from the Warden's perspective

topaz hollow
lone beacon
#

wonder if this is what turned into the Snatchers

coral gorge
topaz hollow
#

The main crew's IDs are listed in game in logs

eternal talon
#

to be fair, schaeffer himself is a massive issue in the timeline

#

the schaeffer discrepancy is major

topaz hollow
coral gorge
#

wasnt he faulty?

topaz hollow
coral gorge
#

Well

#

he is not dead to nam v

#

somehow

#

and its supposed to be an ultra virus

topaz hollow
#

faulty supposedly dictates that the KSO gets eventually recycled for tissue and organs

coral gorge
topaz hollow
#

according to another log

eternal talon
#

if you haven't heard of it before, basically, schaeffer locked himself in KDS-DEEP when the facility was collapsing. he accidentally locked the doors and to avoid starving to death, entered hydrostasis. all of r5, we lift the lockdowns schaeffer caused to give warden access to kds deep the hsus inside. so i ask you, how did schaeffer break free of the warden in r4?

eternal talon
#

posted above

hollow sage
#

how do these shadow variants in the deeper levels do come into existence, i mean do they kind of evolve into having a invisible cellular structure, the shadow concept is just very "not digestable" to me. how do these things even become something so anomalous, and when they die they go into accelarated decomp. and the corpse is visible for a short time. what is actually behind the functioning of shadows, why are they like this?

lilac island
topaz hollow
#

Schaeffer locking himself in KDS deep but somehow getting deployed after the fact is actually a huge plot hole holy shit

coral gorge
#

what if schafer we know is alt schafer

topaz hollow
#

Wtf

coral gorge
#

who warped to og

#

and in alt R6 he wont talk to us

topaz hollow
#

Giant Shadows are the goofiest enemy

#

Because of the way they walk bro secondary

hollow sage
eternal talon
lilac island
#

or if he was taken out of KDS DEEP by warden needing more ksos, after he locked himself in a HSU, and then it goes after lockdown by idfk maybe biocom fucking warden

coral gorge
topaz hollow
#

that would explain why they sound like horses

hollow sage
#

oh yeah the screech

eternal talon
coral gorge
#

rather same parasite but mutated

topaz hollow
#

isn't that also how chargers happen or am I insanse

coral gorge
#

since i doubt nam v has symbiosis with 3 diff parasotes

eternal talon
lilac island
#

chargers are speculated to be made by the ceiling biomass

topaz hollow
#

Chargers used to only ever spawn in rooms with the ceiling dripping black goo

coral gorge
#

and charger wall in R7E1

lilac island
#

one can find in rooms with chargers in it

topaz hollow
#

But not anymore, they just spawn wherever these days

eternal talon
#

like, we know the brown/red ones, on door alarms, canonically melt when dead. the white ones do not. but in gameplay, both do because performance

eternal talon
#

they are hyper-agressive patrolling subvariant of parasite

coral gorge
#

or its mutation

#

so same thing

eternal talon
#

its why the baby sleeper plush the devs made recently is weird looking. its a agressive parasite varaint sleeper

#

not the common white variant

topaz hollow
#

Hey how does the warden get a threat level rating for sectors

eternal talon
#

like, i dont even think we see a red mom in the game

topaz hollow
#

Like why is there never a mission with 3 overloads

coral gorge
#

simulations prolly

lilac island
#

probably

topaz hollow
#

Also why are there never missions doing previously-uncompleted overload/extreme left behind by pussy prisoners who didn't do it

hollow sage
#

dont you think this invisible mutation is something of a evolutionary product for predators, like to hunt and not to be hunted?

coral gorge
#

nam v is a killer ultra virus

#

it evolves cause it has time

topaz hollow
coral gorge
#

likr a shit ton of it due to destination and other places

topaz hollow
eternal talon
#

nam-v is so SO much more advanced than anything even remotely possible. our resident biologist, Beanz, said to his knowlege, it is impossible to have occurred naturally. saying it is almost certainly a bioweapon

hollow sage
coral gorge

so it could evolve into an apex virus in that time

destination is located there, in an alternate worldline

its far away in two aspects

hollow sage

so correct me if im wrong, NAM-V been there for a shit ton of time, it evolved to be the destroyer of worlds, so what about this parasite that works in symbiosis with nam-v, where did it come from

The world line (or worldline) of an object is the path that an object traces in 4-dimensional spacetime. It is an important concept of modern physics, and particularly theoretical physics.
The concept of a "world line" is distinguished from concepts such as an "orbit" or a "trajectory" (e.g., a planet's orbit in space or the trajectory of a car ...

i wonder could nam v be nuked

or is it resistant to that too

hollow sage
eternal talon
#

its why it getting to the surface is really fucking bad

eternal talon
#

makes it damn near impossible to rid the planet of them

#

since they can wait out literally anything

coral gorge
#

i mean the planet is lost tbg

hollow sage
eternal talon
#

our original worldline had a chance. only the virus made it out, not the parasite.

#

alt// is 100% fucked

coral gorge
coral gorge
eternal talon
#

the virus is so lethal it'd eat itself out of fuel and starve to death. the parasite keeps the hosts alive and basically gives it an infinite gas tank so to speak

coral gorge
#

yup

#

parasite is the only reason the virus can be a death machine

#

cause it grants it infinite food

eternal talon
#

it makes sense honestly for it to be a controlled bioweapon to wipe out planets to later be colonized

hollow sage

and honestly it would seem they dont even need food

### Entry: Gallus {genus}
Poss. intro? fix end bit
/quote
There are cross-species behavioral distinctions that separate all species within the genus. The dark-skinned variants tend to be more active hunters, suggesting the darker pigmentation is a product of natural selection. They are harder to see and therefore more successful predators. The light skinned breed are still vicious and will attack at the slightest provocation, but they do not seek the prey as actively, they are more disposed to sedentary, almost somnific, behavior. They wait, and strike when roused.

Entry: Gallus Reptus

Paragraph on:

  • Reptus show little signs of intelligence beyond their predatory instincts. Clarify the intraspecific devolution theory?
  • possibility of structured hierarchy among the pack, and the role of Reptus in that hierarchy
  • possibility that Reptus are a post-metamorphic stage of Jaculus? Note no confirmed sightings of Jaculus in a pupal state.
  • NEED DNA SAMPLE

Entry: Gallus Jaculus

  • more intelligent than Reptus, or given a more strategic role in the hive?
  • what are the implications of emergent intelligence.
  • potential human connection/influence. Mimicry or symbiont relationship with parasite?

I don't like that they set up the story to have infinite timelines, it should have just been 1 and maybe the ALT one

topaz hollow

It makes everything so damn complicated

eternal talon

absoloutely

coral gorge
#

who knows maybe alt r6 will fix it

eternal talon

i doubt it. its like a pandora's box.

coral gorge
#

Well unless they were drunk while making the story they gotta have a plan for it

a hopefully reasonable plan

Getting into the HSU makes you halfway to a KSO, the warden just finished the job

desert flame
#

we're more or less just left to assume the warden found them in HSUs and made them KSOs after the fact since Schaeffer was also just an employee in both timelines

#

also I cant be fuckin bothered to scroll all the way back up to reply to it directly but

#

Schaeffer very likely breaks his control in OG the same way we see in ALT, given he knows about the machine to rip the implant out

#

We dont get to see it, but its very likely to be the case

The problem with it being another dimension is that another lifeforms would have to have made the portals then, but there is no mention of other infected besides the humans

solemn kraken
edgy pecan

But the rest seem like infected humans, besides the kraken

solemn kraken

But yeah those are the only infected other species we see

edgy pecan

So only the parasite came in the meteor, so once again, where are the ones who built it

#

Have we actually seen the portal structures?

solemn kraken
#

R6B1, R6D1, R7C2sec

edgy pecan

I meant the alien parts of them, not the project insight constructs

raw terrace
#

yeah alien stuff

solemn kraken
raw terrace
#

there's an alien like stone in r7b3 i think?

#

frostty has the image

edgy pecan
#

Ok, mabye I misunderstood, I was under the impression that the portal tech made use of alien tech, not just the strange materials

solemn kraken
#

we seem to power them with crystals from destination at least

edgy pecan
#

Then I feel like that lines up with destination being another dimension more

solemn kraken
#

As time goes slower there

solar nova
#

I don't think the logs make it very clear as to what artifact 7 actually is under that coating, though.

edgy pecan
#

Ok, I think I got it. So millions of years ago, the central star of NGC 6302 begins to collapse, as it is one of the hottest stars we know of, we have no idea what happened at those energy levels, but it opens a portal to another dimension. This is backed up by the shape of the nebula, as it resembles things spewing from the center, as well as the fact that the materials in the nebula seem to be crystalline according to Wikipedia. One of these large chunks hurdles toward earth, creating the crater we now call garganta. Inside of what is essentially a geode resides a virus that begins to mutate the people who come into contact with it, as well as an alien material that, once properly used, acts as a tether to the creatures original dimension.

#

Then all that jazz with kovac goes down, the mining company starts drilling, stoppers start mutating etc.

#

Only things I don't understand are why the first mission to Mars is so significant as to add it into a log, and who the warden is

edgy pecan
solar nova

Isn't it 3 or so logs, setting up HSUs, Kovac and their higher ups, etc.?

raw terrace

there chu go qwq

#

AH

#

i wonder if

#

itll still b there on alt

#

where is it like on the map?

eternal talon
#

who knows. given it is modeled directly --

#

-- its behind where you spawn where you teleport

#

part of the cliff is carved out aswell.

#

i only took a pic of the sandstone though.

#

-- it is modeled directly into the geometry of the tile, so they'd have to remake the tile were that the case, and i'm not sure they'd do that. the biggest changes they did with destination tiles is adding in charger gunk (ironically in that same tile) in r7e1, but it is much easier to add stuff to the tile than carve it away

#

as they'd have to remodel both that and the bits of the cliffside that are cleared out

raw terrace
#

yeh but idk would b like very very funk if they did, i gotta like see it first thing when i tp

eternal talon
raw terrace

eternal talon
#

a lot of people thought it was an imprint from the base of the teleporter pad, but no other level we have ever used one in created this imprint.

edgy pecan
raw terrace
#

also idk why i was thinkin of this earlier so ik its, probs incorrect but i still, will write it ksmdskms
so the alt started by like, unknown causes, as it says in like the dummies document, but i was thinkin dumb stuff
so we travel, back to rundown 1 n stuff, and the warden did it so we dont hijack it in R7
what im thinkin is like what if, warden used the matter wave projector for that? like it used some shenaningans with it, we went back, and now stuff is like different. then, in r6, we are gonna use the mwp again, so we revert everything?
full idea is like, warden sent us back with the mwp to the ALTS, we get to ALT r6, we undo it somehow and then r7 is the exact same?
lorewise its kinda dumb cause like its a nothin tale, its just a loop and absolutely nothin changes, but what if thats like, the reason in gameplay theres not gonna be an ALT r7

eternal talon
#

we dont know what ended the allens. presumeably nam-v and the virus

#

and it isn't the first time the allens jumped either

edgy pecan
eternal talon
#

we know that for a fact since hammerstein found specimens from countless universes in the inner

eternal talon
#

This week I drew the conclusion that the lifeforms we have been finding do not appear to come from the same evolutionary tree. Indeed, many of them appear to have at least partially evolved in drastically different environments, though there is clearly a commonality in the mutations they all share. There is no indication that the artifacts and objects we have found within the fossil were designed for use by any of the creatures, so quite how they ended up there is still a mystery. The bizarre disappearance of the equipment while working on Artifact 13 suggests some method of transformation or even transportation beyond our current understanding. As such, the origin of these creatures remains a mystery - but they come from different places. Different planets? Universes? I am confident I will unravel the mystery, but my impatience for understanding is overwhelming!

QSW-EQW-S99

eternal talon

he even managed to recover a few living ones

I will be conducting a behavioral analysis of the few living creatures we have managed to capture.

edgy pecan
#

Could those have been flyers and baby krakens?

eternal talon
#

if you haven't read the "for dummies" doc in the pins of this channel, i highly reccomend it. it has been thoroughly researched by over a dozen people and has been updated constantly over the past two years.

eternal talon
#

firstly, the fliers were first encountered in the ef01 log where durant mentions them hunting down him and his team, so it wouldn't make sense for him to not know what they were by that point if they also found specimens of them in the inner,

#

and secondly krakens are a sort of biological aircraft carrier for the floaters. Appearing to be highly mutated ocean life, resembling the cuttlefish here on earth, their uninfected specimens would be vastly different to what we see in r6c1 and what we fight in r6d1.

lilac island

It's still completely absurd that they were studying namv as the entire world was collapsing

#

The dummy lore txt says they were drilling while kovac was actively holding back sleepers

#

If I understood it right

#

What the hell were they trying to do

eternal talon

But then again, somebody's gotta fall for those god awful scam callers/emails otherwise they wouldn't be profitable enough to keep doing them, right?

Like a gambler trying to hit it big, ignoring the costs on the way there.

harsh pike
#

I mean at that point what else would you do

#

if NAM-V is decimating the world, every organization able would be focused on a cure no matter how unlikely

eternal talon

The could have pulled out and helped the world recover with what they knew

harsh pike
#

i thought the original timeline still had a huge loss of population to nam-v? I remember a terminal in r7...c2 I think? (gen cluster) that said the US was down 50% of it's population

built a wall around garganta

eternal talon
harsh pike
#

I wonder why they went with the "World is completely fucked" approach

eternal talon
#

Don't get me wrong, you are still returning to the middle ages, but I'd rather be there than nowhere

harsh pike
#

just kind of feels like our actions have no weight since there's no point, no world to return to at all (if the warden's goal with the KSOs is developing a cure)

harsh pike
eternal talon
#

That's what the warden did in the original worldline.

#

Garganta was isolated

harsh pike
#

original timeline sounds much better

eternal talon
#

.... then we let the floaters out in r6b1

#

... oops

harsh pike
#

I hope they wrap this up in alt r6 and we go back

#

im curious to see how they link the two at all if r7 isn't getting alt-'d

eternal talon
harsh pike
#

literally

#

cause if we do go back to the original timeline in alt r6 to link back up with r7 / r8, what was even the point?

eternal talon
#

Still, floaters are now out so our original is fucked too

harsh pike
#

yeah those things wouldnt have a hard time escaping garganta

eternal talon
#

Sleepers couldn't get thru the bulkheads, but nothing stopping the floaters from just flying up

#

Out the giant holes we go down thru

harsh pike
#

more concrete

eternal talon

Those tunnels go down 2k meters... and there are hundreds of them

harsh pike
#

then maybe just some saran wrap on the top

eternal talon
#

You'd need a whole hell of alot

eternal talon
harsh pike
#

idk the original timeline seems a lot better IMO, i feel like "world is entirely fucked and you have no chance of accomplishing anything" stories aren't. good

eternal talon
#

It is.

#

Even with floaters

harsh pike
#

US military (What's left of it) can handle some meatballs

#

it makes r7's whole theme more impactful too IMO

eternal talon
#

They'd have to from range

harsh pike
#

what's the point of going AWOL and trying to escape garganta if there's nothing at all to escape to?

eternal talon
#

Or they'll get infect with nam-v....

#

And part 2

#

Also any native wildlife

harsh pike
#

hopefully they'd know that by that point

eternal talon
#

Like birds and fish

#

Can't exactly tell a bird to fuck off

#

Fish, with enough time you could build dams and such

harsh pike
#

depends if floaters try to kill all sentient life or just threats to their existence? likely the former

eternal talon
#

Well I would think the point of any species is to infect and propagate

harsh pike
#

but their goal seems to just be kill

eternal talon
#

Infecting new hosts I'd think would be the most important

#

Well we don't know what happens to our squad when we lose

#

We could just be incapacitated then turned

harsh pike

eternal talon

Given even when one man goes down, we don't ever die

harsh pike

eternal talon
#

If you leave a guy with a swarm chasing they won't tear him apart on the ground like zombies

harsh pike
#

eugh i never really thought about that

eternal talon
#

And the only corpses we have ever seen were people that died from nam-v without the parasite present, as the mutations are always half way done

#

We never find just actual corpses

harsh pike
#

makes sense

eternal talon
#

even just the random heads we find in the biocom server room are still infected heads

burnt wren
#

The UN Expedition upon ariving to Gargnatha's Entrance noted that they couldn't find anyone. No signs of fighting, or struggles, even fully loaded helicopter carrier ready at the place, but just... No one there. Like everyone just left. No corpses either.

#

It is VERY weird that we just never find normal corpses anywhere. Surely one worker would climb into some forgotten hole or corner and just die there from starvation.

#

Small chances it could be a foreshadowing for something, but i have both doubts and no idea what it could possibly foreshadow besides straight mind control.

#

The fact that experience of the UN squad is the same is what bothers me. I cant sort of forgive that all corpses got eaten down there, but... There's no one upstairs either. So what the fuck?

harsh pike
#

there's also just very little blood

#

garganta is shockingly clean

burnt wren
#

That too!

#

Outside of the blowholes we use to deploy there's not really much collateral damage even though we know sleepers absolutely ravaged the facility during the great outbreak

#

I'll have to boil that one down to limitations of procedural map design

#

Imagine making a "ravaged room" and have it appear everywhere with same corpses and what not

harsh pike
#

yeah, you're right sadly

#

garganta is way too free of gore imo

it wouldn't be that risky other than the noise of construction

At the beginning of the trailer, pictures are shown. Is this the blending of universes? Are we seeing part of the original world?

yeah

Is that Henrikson?

Nyxos is much better known.

It's in a few logs setting a backdrop for what suppliers Santonian wants.

hollow sage
#

Oh

solar nova

Basically just setting up that they value secrecy.

hollow sage
#

Secret corpo stuffy

coral gorge

i mean Garganta was on the verge of being illegall before it was even built

like the president of mexico was literally bribed for santonian to get the right to build it

and then well... human experiments and stuff were also im pretty sure illegall

hollow sage

I was playing R3 yesterday, encountered the sleeper mother or whatever that is for the first time, what the fuck are those wobbly warping testicles on the roof everywhere ?

coral gorge

that is a possibility too

solemn kraken

Testicle sacs

hollow sage
coral gorge

these might be a survival mechanism

hollow sage

Yeah that can be something

Not eggs but a whole sac

coral gorge

wait

hollow sage

Not fresh smol baby

Big boi in sacs

coral gorge

can you send a photo of it?

but from the descriptions it sounds like respawn sacks

hollow sage
#

This thing

coral gorge

okay yeah

#

these might be mothers eggs (or her shit)

hollow sage
coral gorge
#

overall these almost exclusively only apear when a mother is near

hollow sage
#

Yes a shit ton

#

She also like screams

#

When entering the zone

coral gorge

i think only in R3C1 they apear but there is no mom

hollow sage

Got me fucked up for the first time that jumo scare scream

hollow sage
#

Only egg and charger

solemn kraken
hollow sage
coral gorge
#

i still remember trying to foam nade her and it going straight through

hollow sage
#

But like who tf is the mother tho infected pregnant woman?

coral gorge
#

perhaps

#

we dont really know

#

we know it has a face

solar nova
coral gorge
#

yeah most likely

hollow sage
#

Yeah kind of a faint smile, popping out the cross section I saw it too, it was quite a detail

coral gorge
#

since they operate on a hive mind

solar nova
#

So, it's presumably some kind of nesting strategy of sorts.

coral gorge
#

they become what the hive mind needs

solar nova
#

Still opposed to the use of hive mind here, it's just a colony.

coral gorge
#

i mean its kinda the same thing

#

but i suppose hive mind implies mental connections

#

and they dont really have that

hollow sage
#

They have collective senses, can say hive mind

coral gorge
#

i mean... do they?

#

its hard to tell

spice hinge
#

Can't be hive mind cause we killed kraken and the game goes on. Checkmate.

coral gorge
#

i mean the kraken is just one

spice hinge
#

Yeah

solemn kraken
coral gorge
#

yeah

hollow sage
#

I used to think it is, doesn't scout calling reinforcements count?

solemn kraken
#

Also kraken is destination species

coral gorge
#

and i doubt it even had a conenction to earth by any means

spice hinge
#

Like how in Dead Space you kill the Hive Mind in the end but infection still persists.

coral gorge
hollow sage
coral gorge
#

other dimension

solemn kraken
solemn kraken
coral gorge
hollow sage
#

Oh

solemn kraken
hollow sage
#

So not earth baseplate based?

#

ET?

coral gorge
#

nope

spice hinge
#

Is the desert actually called "Destination?"

#

beyond just Alpha_X?

solar nova
#

Right, all of the flyers are either neutral forms or based on something else.

solemn kraken
solar nova
coral gorge
hollow sage
#

And also what is the ceiling bisomass in charger room, it kund of reacts to light the same way, how tf is it that much, dripping. How is it even created?

solar nova
#

But "Destination" or "Destination Alpha" is just meant to be a neutral term for the place we go that doesn't assume anything about dimensions, planets, time travel, etc.

#

Oh, R6 was titled Destination.

coral gorge
solar nova
#

It was the name of the rundown.

coral gorge
#

yeah

#

so people just use it to talk about the dimension as a whole

#

or technically its a planet in a diffrent galaxy but you know...

spice hinge
#

This is a noob question but is it confirmed it's like a manmade virus or actual alien life?

coral gorge
#

alien

solemn kraken
hollow sage
coral gorge
#

it could be sleepers after coming into contact with it become chargers

hollow sage
#

Cuz it always dripping

coral gorge
solar nova
#

It could go either way.

#

Chargers could also just be defending it.

#

They are just a heavier striker, after all.

spice hinge
#

I take it the chargers are "closer" to one of the more 'actual' forms of the species, along with more out there enemies like flyers and what not.
Strikers and shooters still retaining human characteristics.

coral gorge
#

i mean we can theorize tanks and pablo are older chargers

#

with pablo literally being ancient

spice hinge
#

Another parallel to dead space funny enough. Necromorphs further along are darker in color and look substantially less human.

#

Prob took as influence low key

hollow sage
#

I mean whatever the environment throws into this fucked up evolutionary genome blender, they all come up as diff fucked up species, if these were given a half life treatment of a nuke, imagine the fucked up stalker shit

coral gorge
#

tbh i wouldnt be suprised if the virus didnt already adapt to survive radiation

#

cause we dont even know if destination is its origin

solar nova
#

Dauda's description of it makes me feel like it's more likely a bioweapon than merely well-adapted, though.

coral gorge
#

i mean its hard to tell

#

due to how long it existed for

#

it could have simply evolved to become an absolute menace

hollow sage
#

Also I saw preserved wrinkly degloved body skin something resembling of a sleeper in R3A1 labs in the cylindrical containment, are those the ET species that escaped, if yes Santonian was researching over it, till it became a disaster??

spice hinge
solar nova
#

Viruses don't typically evolve in the direction of an ideal pathogen, though, they're just reacting to available hosts.

solemn kraken
solar nova
#

This would apply to any organism as well, including the sleeper "colony"

solemn kraken
#

they human based

spice hinge
solemn kraken
coral gorge
edgy pecan
#

i think that all of destination is alive beneath the surface, like the shell on a giant flyer

coral gorge
#

i doubt it would have stopped the virus

#

looking at (og not alt) earth even though sleepers were only in Garganta, the virus still wiped out humanity

solar nova
#

The ultra-powered up version did.

hollow sage
#

Also who is Schaefer, I've seen you guys talk about him a lot. I listened to his log yesterday. Was he a KSO? Like was he getting voices from BIOCOM Or warden?

#

Can give me a mildly non spoiling version pls

coral gorge
#

he was a prisoner just like us, but he broke his program

hollow sage
solemn kraken
coral gorge
#

also he did questionable things to poor madox

hollow sage
#

He alive?

coral gorge
#

yeah

#

somehow

hollow sage
#

Alright rahta enough, I think anything more than that will spoil

solemn kraken
#

Alt R1D1 he is still at morse code. the pipes being hit in the corridor to the reactor

coral gorge
#

what did the morse code translate to btw?

#

cause i kinda forgot

#

was it just "go deeper"

edgy pecan
#

behold, the piece of shit rock that caused all this

coral gorge
solemn kraken
coral gorge
#

the virus arrived on earth with the asteroid

solemn kraken
#

we have multiple MWP confirmed

#

R6A1, R7C2sec

solar nova
#

And I'm not saying that GTFO couldn't go a similar road as Subnautica, I'm just saying that sort of plot device may be a bit contrived while a bioweapon explanation avoids most of those problems, at least in my mind.

hollow sage
coral gorge
#

echo

#

the echo is what we hear

solemn kraken
edgy pecan
coral gorge
coral gorge
edgy pecan
coral gorge
#

even if no one went to destination the virus was already on earth

solar nova
coral gorge
#

well they fell victim to it too

#

so their tech sucked

edgy pecan
coral gorge
#

could have been from an entirely diffrent planet/dimension

#

could have been a natural virus

#

could have been a covid scenario

solar nova
solemn kraken
coral gorge
#

watch it be just that

#

continouation of alt R6

solar nova
#

It's possible that they were able to design a bioweapon that they couldn't in-turn answer.

solemn kraken
coral gorge
edgy pecan
coral gorge
#

we dont know if it was destination

#

like i said

solar nova
#

Arguably worse than nuclear weapons, since we actually tested and used them w/out ending the world.

solar nova
#

If you let out NAM-V on accident, it's just over.

coral gorge
#

like i said, the only thing about it being a bio weapon i dont understand is the parasite

#

did they make the parasite too?

#

that seems like an actual suicide

solar nova
coral gorge
#

hmm tbh maybe the colony structures were an accident

solar nova
#

The artificial extention of the parasite's life is also striking to me.

#

Kind of feels like the virus was designed to enhance their chosen vessel, which may have itself been naturally occuring prior.

hollow sage
#

A parasite to disgusting ceiling goo, if given more resources, another hell on this planet.

edgy pecan
# coral gorge we dont know if it was destination

we know the virus came from deep in the meteor, we also know that it was deadly to the aliens who built the egg, the aliens who just happened to be fleeing their planet in a ship filled with the exact artifacts needed to acess another hostile dimension.

solar nova
#

I would definitely be more willing to think that the parasite is natural than the virus.

coral gorge
edgy pecan
hollow sage
coral gorge
#

is that not what you are implying?

#

that if not for destination, nothing would have happened?

edgy pecan
coral gorge
#

we dont even know if destination is the home world of the allens nor the virus

#

it could just be that not all allens crashed on earth

#

cause i doubt only a singular ship escaped

edgy pecan
coral gorge
#

how is that

#

where do we know from that the virus originated from destination

solar nova
edgy pecan
edgy pecan
solar nova
#

Also, not sure what Frostty said specifically but we probably don't know that Destination is the ultimate source of sleepers, it's just likely to be the most direct source relative to Garganta.

coral gorge
#

yeah

#

we have no idea if nam-v originated on it

#

if we were to say its a bioweapon it literally means it could have simply been a testing ground

edgy pecan
solemn kraken
coral gorge
solemn kraken
#

otherwise it's just assumption on his part

coral gorge
#

you said its the source of all evil

harsh saffron
#

It's basically implied because they explained that, in order to stop the virus, we would have to reach the planet it originated from. And then they go to "destination". That's it.

#

It makes sense, but its never "confirmed" directly

solemn kraken
#

frossty's base

solar nova
edgy pecan
coral gorge
#

wait what active mining site

coral gorge
#

i mean that it was tested on destination (just like nukes irl)

#

and then the allens went ahead and used it in their homeworld

solemn kraken
coral gorge
#

alien or human?

solar nova
#

Not Allen, tho.

harsh saffron
solemn kraken
#

But if @edgy pecan means garganta then no. that's earth and not destination

coral gorge
#

yeah

#

thats why i was confused

#

do we mean garganta as an active mining site or things on destination

edgy pecan
coral gorge
#

i mean that the virus was created by them

#

destination was used to test it

solemn kraken
edgy pecan
coral gorge
#

no

solar nova
#

Doesn't even have need to have been tested, just needs to have gotten out of a controlled environment.

coral gorge
#

yeah true

solar nova
#

Also Cubix disagrees w/ me afaik.

coral gorge
#

do i

solar nova
#

Do you?

coral gorge
#

i dunno

#

do i?

#

its funny cause all i wanted to say - that destination might not be the reason why nam-v ended on earth

#

and then it kinda went down the rabbit hole of being a bioweapon

edgy pecan
#

it is still massively unlikely, the allens possessed tech far beyond our own, and even we can survive in destination pretty easily, so it wouldnt have been deployed unless they were absolutley sure it had no effect on themselves, and if it was an outbreak, the timing is ridiculously convienent

solar nova
#

What about the timing is convenient?

coral gorge
#

destination could have gotten nam-ved well before the allens did

#

for any reason

solar nova
#

The only thing that stands out to me is that the fossil hit Earth and not literally anything else if not nothing at all.

coral gorge
#

i mean maybe other ships hit diff planets

#

not in our solar system

solar nova
#

^ Could be a lot of ships.

#

So lots of chances to crash land.

coral gorge
#

i would be amazed if only one escaped

edgy pecan
edgy pecan
#

and again, given that it has symbiosys with the parasite, the most logical conclusion is that it originated in destination

solar nova
#

My idea of the bioweapon idea, personally, is something like:
-It breaks out of containment, is used in war, or otherwise begins to spread on its own in at least one place that the allens inhabit.
-From there, it transmits through individuals or some medium carried through the MWP technology, infecting other places that the allens inhabit (Destinations, Fossils, etc.)
-The fossil we encounter is one such victim, and the entire things has been adrift carrying the infection for potentially millions of years.
-At some point, it hits Earth, and millions of years later we're fully unearthing it.

#

It could have started on Destination, but it could have started anywhere.

#

It could have even been held on a fossil initially.

edgy pecan
#

seems like an awful big coincidence

solar nova
#

I'm not really seeing the coincidence.

edgy pecan
#

i prefer the "we messed with stuff we didnt understand and opened a portal to hell" explanation

edgy pecan
#

also we see the same pustules on the kraken as we do on mutated humans like mothers and tanks

solar nova
#

Are you just suggesting you think Allens in general are unlikely?

edgy pecan
solar nova
#

Wait, what's coincidental here?

#

The flyers are there because the virus is there.

edgy pecan
#

they aint mutated humans, and they aint mutated allens

spice hinge
#

allens

edgy pecan
#

wasnt a typo

spice hinge
#

Was this in the dummy guide?

edgy pecan
#

ye

spice hinge
#

Oh crap it is.

solar nova
spice hinge
#

That's the name of them, supposedly?

solar nova
#

Being a bioweapon doesn't preclude them from having a neutral form.

edgy pecan
#

they arent allens

solar nova
#

Schaeffer calls the snatcher something new.

harsh pike
#

he's talking about the snatchers

solar nova
#

That's a misreading.

harsh pike
#

I had the same misconception when I first played because shaeffer raves about "something new, something not human" then you get attacked by floaters

solar nova
#

I can't believe they pulled an R3C1 again.

solemn kraken
#

yeah snatcher, you hear the sound as well when he sees it

harsh pike
#

(will also never forgive the devs for butchering the amount of floaters on that level)

solemn kraken
#

And that makes sense as snatcher first appearance is R7C1 while the flyers appear in R6B1 a whole rundown before him having that text

edgy pecan
#

we should still see them prior to the portal opening though, the allens had lots of specimens preserved, but we dont

solar nova
#

Ehhh, we haven't gone very deep, and presumably they've come to prefer terrestrial forms over the past few million years.

solemn kraken
#

also yeah depth

edgy pecan
solar nova
#

I'm also not sure what the conclusion is that we're meant to end up at.

#

Wouldn't this just imply that sleepers and flyers are completely unrelated?

#

But that's obviously not the case, so...

edgy pecan
#

how is that obvious, they look nothing alike

solemn kraken
solar nova
#

Same warped mouths/teeth, noodle-like appendages, decayed eyes, etc.

solemn kraken
#

In the sense they infected by the same thing

solar nova
#

^ Twisted shape of a different base creature.

solemn kraken
solar nova
#

Also, they fight alongside sleepers constantly, so...

solemn kraken
edgy pecan
#

I know they are infected, i know they aint human (what i meant by looking different) and if they were allens we would see them pre r6b1

solar nova
#

So you... don't agree?

#

You've agreed with DJ twice, and disagreed with him at the end.

solemn kraken
#

I admit I am confucius

edgy pecan
solar nova
#

No, we do not know that. It wouldn't be far-fetched, though.

edgy pecan
solar nova
#

What is Frostty refering to that actually demonstrates that?

#

I'm not even sure if Frostty has said that.

#

Wait, isn't this literally what I'm saying?

#

Our story begins with a species of ancient, hyper advanced aliens from another plain of existence. In one way or another, this species, the Allens, either create or come across NAM-V and the Parasite.
While there is very little information on these events in the timeline, we know for a fact that their planet and civilization was wiped out by the virus and the parasite, with the survivors fleeing to earth.
However, the virus and the parasite had already made its way onto their vessel, and the crew was swiftly either killed or infected. Their vessel which would later be known as the Fossil, or the Inner, would warp into our reality and crash into the earth, landing in the Yucatan peninsula, and wiping out the dinosaurs.
In the 16th century, earthquakes in the Chicxulub region releases NAM-V into the environment, spreading outward from the village of Ixil, and killing the local populous. NAM-V would later be referred to by them as "Flea Demons".
Luckily for all life on earth, at the time the region was far too isolated for it to spread, and it quickly consumed all its food, and died out.
However, this section of the "For Dummies" Document is called "Pre-Apocalypse" for a reason.

edgy pecan
#

the allens were from a planet in our dimension in NGC6302, as confirmed by the santonian website hidden code

edgy pecan
#

then the lore for dummies is incorrect

#

because we are told for a fact the allens are from our home dimension

solar nova
#

There are bits here I'd probably disagree with, but I'm not sure where the broad picture is coming from.

edgy pecan
#

let me find it, hang on

solemn kraken
solar nova
#

^

solemn kraken
#

So what's the problem

#

Destination is that other planet

solar nova
#

Trans-dimensional stuff is involved, but the MWP doesn't necessarily bring you to other dimensions.

#

The log describing this is notoriously hard to understand, as well.

#

I would not lean very strongly one way or the other.

#

But iirc it implies that you can use extra dimensions for FTL travel in your own dimension.

solemn kraken
