That's why I think it would be cool to hear echoes of distant gunfire or sleeper roars and combat ambience in general
If supposedly there's other teams around
in R5B4 we also take part in a diversion protocol
100%. can do easily in modded, but devs never bothered to in vanilla
real shame
Isn't that because we have a GO/T/F/O line of KSOs, one of each
yes
Schaeffer's squad dies with 2 Ts, 1 GO, and I think 1 F KSO
the generations of Kovac Security Operatives. Genesis, Tau, Faulty, Sigma. (yes 'O' is Sigma for some reason)
There's a log detailing how KSO-Schaeffer gets lost a second time from the Warden's perspective
Faulty
wonder if this is what turned into the Snatchers
no woods is
The main crew's IDs are listed in game in logs
to be fair, schaeffer himself is a massive issue in the timeline
the schaeffer discrepancy is major
Woods is sigma
wasnt he faulty?
How so
no, he was threatened with it because Kovac thought he still had that religious dawg in him
faulty supposedly dictates that the KSO gets eventually recycled for tissue and organs
im pretty sure it is implied he was reset a bunch before
according to another log
twice
if you haven't heard of it before, basically, schaeffer locked himself in KDS-DEEP when the facility was collapsing. he accidentally locked the doors and to avoid starving to death, entered hydrostasis. all of r5, we lift the lockdowns schaeffer caused to give warden access to kds deep the hsus inside. so i ask you, how did schaeffer break free of the warden in r4?
yeah I read that
how do these shadow variants in the deeper levels do come into existence, i mean do they kind of evolve into having a invisible cellular structure, the shadow concept is just very "not digestable" to me. how do these things even become something so anomalous, and when they die they go into accelarated decomp. and the corpse is visible for a short time. what is actually behind the functioning of shadows, why are they like this?
what if schaeffer does not exist
Schaeffer locking himself in KDS deep but somehow getting deployed after the fact is actually a huge plot hole holy shit
what if schafer we know is alt schafer
Wtf
squatting slavs
they are different variants. canically. different sub-species of parasite
or if he was taken out of KDS DEEP by warden needing more ksos, after he locked himself in a HSU, and then it goes after lockdown by idfk maybe biocom fucking warden
yeah unless he is actuslly alt schafer, who didnt lock himself in kds deep, left his squad in alt R4, then warped to og
that would explain why they sound like horses
so a diff fucked up parasite turns them invisible?
oh yeah the screech
we dont know for certain but probably.
rather same parasite but mutated
isn't that also how chargers happen or am I insanse
since i doubt nam v has symbiosis with 3 diff parasotes
possibly
we dont know for certain but probably
chargers are speculated to be made by the ceiling biomass
Chargers used to only ever spawn in rooms with the ceiling dripping black goo
and charger wall in R7E1
one can find in rooms with chargers in it
But not anymore, they just spawn wherever these days
like, we know the brown/red ones, on door alarms, canonically melt when dead. the white ones do not. but in gameplay, both do because performance
racist parasite?

they are hyper-agressive patrolling subvariant of parasite
its why the baby sleeper plush the devs made recently is weird looking. its a agressive parasite varaint sleeper
not the common white variant
Hey how does the warden get a threat level rating for sectors
like, i dont even think we see a red mom in the game
Like why is there never a mission with 3 overloads
simulations prolly
the same reason blood doors say motion sensors triggered
probably
Also why are there never missions doing previously-uncompleted overload/extreme left behind by pussy prisoners who didn't do it
dont you think this invisible mutation is something of a evolutionary product for predators, like to hunt and not to be hunted?
nam-v turns you into a genshin impact player
likr a shit ton of it due to destination and other places
or a red tank
nam-v is so SO much more advanced than anything even remotely possible. our resident biologist, Beanz, said to his knowlege, it is impossible to have occurred naturally. saying it is almost certainly a bioweapon
oh so more deeper it is situated, the more time it has to evolve cuz no disturbance
40k virus bomb moment
I mean you said destination has nam v for like 500000…. Smth years?
so it could evolve into an apex virus in that time
a lot of the people we have in here are IRL experts. like punkthulu works in disaster cleanup
I mean if we use Destination time, it's had a while
5,500,000,000+
yeah
aren't normal tanks red?
plenty of time to become an absolute killing machine
Isn't destionation also in some IRL nebula that there were coordinates listed for somewhere in game
and pablo greyish?
no
I was making a joke, chill out brussel sprout
plus if it has other places other than destination…
it really had a lot of time
NGC 6302 (also known as the Bug Nebula, Butterfly Nebula, or Caldwell 69) is a bipolar planetary nebula in the constellation Scorpius. The structure in the nebula is among the most complex ever observed in planetary nebulae. The spectrum of NGC 6302 shows that its central star is one of the hottest stars known, with a surface temperature in exce...
destination is located there, in an alternate worldline
its far away in two aspects
so correct me if im wrong, NAM-V been there for a shit ton of time, it evolved to be the destroyer of worlds, so what about this parasite that works in symbiosis with nam-v, where did it come from
just say fucking timeline
god damnit
same place probably
evolved together
also destionation iirc
or not detsination
but its different https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_line
The world line (or worldline) of an object is the path that an object traces in 4-dimensional spacetime. It is an important concept of modern physics, and particularly theoretical physics.
The concept of a "world line" is distinguished from concepts such as an "orbit" or a "trajectory" (e.g., a planet's orbit in space or the trajectory of a car ...
yet anotner domension
special relativity wise/qft
5d gtfo
ty (last time i saw a tank was R4C1 and he blew up to 8 mines)
pretty fucking bad luck for santonian workers to get fucked with double nam-v and parasite punch.
sleeprs like the dark. a nuke wont do much to a sleepr miles underground in a cave
its why it getting to the surface is really fucking bad
nuke the ubderground
makes it damn near impossible to rid the planet of them
since they can wait out literally anything
i mean the planet is lost tbg
black mesa moment
110%
our original worldline had a chance. only the virus made it out, not the parasite.
alt// is 100% fucked
i mean its most likely parasite and virus go together, to maximize the amount of victims
oh yeah reports of sleepers in US
the virus is so lethal it'd eat itself out of fuel and starve to death. the parasite keeps the hosts alive and basically gives it an infinite gas tank so to speak
yup
parasite is the only reason the virus can be a death machine
cause it grants it infinite food
it makes sense honestly for it to be a controlled bioweapon to wipe out planets to later be colonized
so the parasite doesnt let the host die, and they become sleepers except being in a comatose state and then later die?
sleepers are like lobsters. they dont decay
wait lobsters do that
and honestly it would seem they dont even need food
wait lobsters dont decay
shit i didnt knew
lobsters cant die of old age
their cells repair themselves forever
lobsters op
stem cells or some shit?
basically
yesssirrr
i dont know the specifics of it
its not my fiend of study. i just know it as an off-hand fact
i mean if the virus gets energy from the cells of the host and then gives this energy back to the parasite for it to keep the sleeper alive and regen the lost cells it would make a loop
yeah i know right, we can have surface level discussion but the real fucking experts are doing it their way
wait a second does that mean i can have a pet lobster that will never die?

the experts that we have here are pretty much only beanz nowadays. he studies microbiology and is in his 4th year.
sheeesh
punk, who works in disaster cleanup and with the kinds of hazardous environment equipment we see in the game hasn't ben in this channel in a long time
im a non med passout, but still a huge science and bio nerd inside. i love discussing things like these here
i dont know. probably?
the environment would matter more tbh
yeah of course
just because they repair themselves doesnt mean they are immune to diseases or environmental factors
but if i was to give it everything it needs
then yeah probably it'd outlive you
i could make it live for a long time
gotta beat the record for oldest living animal
Dumb turtles
aha, found it!
### Entry: Gallus {genus}
Poss. intro? fix end bit
/quote
There are cross-species behavioral distinctions that separate all species within the genus. The dark-skinned variants tend to be more active hunters, suggesting the darker pigmentation is a product of natural selection. They are harder to see and therefore more successful predators. The light skinned breed are still vicious and will attack at the slightest provocation, but they do not seek the prey as actively, they are more disposed to sedentary, almost somnific, behavior. They wait, and strike when roused.

Entry: Gallus Reptus
Paragraph on:
- Reptus show little signs of intelligence beyond their predatory instincts. Clarify the intraspecific devolution theory?
- possibility of structured hierarchy among the pack, and the role of Reptus in that hierarchy
- possibility that Reptus are a post-metamorphic stage of Jaculus? Note no confirmed sightings of Jaculus in a pupal state.
- NEED DNA SAMPLE
Entry: Gallus Jaculus
- more intelligent than Reptus, or given a more strategic role in the hive?
- what are the implications of emergent intelligence.
- potential human connection/influence. Mimicry or symbiont relationship with parasite?
- remove that woman from the team**
what woman
?
„remove that woman from the team”
where is this from exactly?
oh. stokes
7GY-HYP-SDW
the numbers, what do they mean
I don't like that they set up the story to have infinite timelines, it should have just been 1 and maybe the ALT one
yeah
i agree
It makes everything so damn complicated
absoloutely
who knows maybe alt r6 will fix it
i doubt it. its like a pandora's box.
Well unless they were drunk while making the story they gotta have a plan for it
a hopefully reasonable plan
Imagine all this gets hit with a hard reset like the Undertale setting, doesn't Sans have dialogue during the fight where he talks about timelines chopping and changing until suddenly they all end
**### Entry: Gallus Capreolatus
Name options:
- Capreolatus
- Cirrhus
- Pampinarii
- Clavicula
Discuss tendril hypotheses : - diphyllobothrium latum mimicry?
- siphonophore/zooids theory
- NEED DNA SAMPLE
Gallus Horridus
- advanced predation techniques
- purpose of keratinous growths unclear. does it charge under threat?
- NEED DNA SAM**
Gallus Horridus sounds like chargers
yeah basically
is this about scouts?
capreolatus yes.
ohh
spaghetti variant
second sounds like chargers
keratinous growths
"Keratinous growths"
like the spikes?
Charger spikes are fingernails confirmed
guys, watch out! there is a gallus capreolatus over there!
and chargers under threat
dried black goo fingernail
If we were on a mission and you said this to me, I would turn around and shoot you and tell the warden you fell down a hole
which one is that again Dauda?… OH SCOUT! SHIT
hey thats a hole
also how do you get these screenshots so fast
you have just every room screenshoted?
i have an archive of hundreds
huh
hahahahahah
i even archive old stuff like trailers that went unused
start a gtfo lore youtube channel if you havent already
i dont bother with that. i'd have to update it too much to be worth it. the for dummies doc is much more efficient
the dummies doc explained the lore so good, i dont know reading it my min absorbed this world. no other youtube lore video could've done this
i also work on a total conversion mod for GTFO, DM me if you are interested in playing it. it has solo and duo campaigns. 2k+ downloads
usss rn
and ofc, its super lore heavy
will try
AAA games have lore?
exactly

but nah, i've been here for a very long time. here are my completions on r6 alone
first started playing in OGr1
imagine an expedition where we keep jumping timelines with an enemy that keeps following us until eventually we reach the end of the original at the end of r8, and cure the virus, beating GTFO
huh i completely forgot R6 has levels in a stair pattern
i remember the beta days, i actually loved the first intro where it kind of screamed to cortex establishment, ominous.
you know, me and my team were world first in the log collection hunts for both r6ex and r7
REAL
if i see pablo in one more level im actuslly gonna spend 6 hours killing it and then throw my laptop out the window
total conversion?
no I mean something like Giga moon from fnaf sb
custom levels, guns, tools, melee weapons, enemies, encounters, custom fog, basically everything
Not unbeatable, but very persistent
very cool
GTFO^2
custom story and even voice acted audio by community members and fans of the mod
yeah. been out for over a year. only thing isn't 100% finished is the community voiceover, only some characters are voiced.
how many characters does the mod add
does it add north?
we should not be talking about this here by the way, lest we draw the mods' eye of sauron
no. custom cast of characters
agreed.
dm me any questions you want or visit the mod's discord. i sent you the stuff
bush in other dimensiom confirmed
PLANT
or these
this is game changing
i archive EVERYTHING
give ammo to plant
destination has sandstorms taller than mountains. its metal AF
also thats a good question
why does destination look so barren
like almost no living plant life
i mean it is said the plants the scientists brought died unnaturally quickly
but why would that happen
and how could there be any life nam v could host upon then
beause they watered them and sent them 2 weeks before they went through
only real big plants we have seen have been dead for a very long time
FINISHED WITH MY WOMAN COS SHE COULDN'T HELP ME WITH MY MIND
PEOPLE THINK I'M INSANE BECAUSE I AM FROWNING ALL THE TIME
(Guitar Riff)
worth noting, you can say the same for Dauda since both times he was a scientist that got into the HSUs to not die
OG on his own ALT at gunpoint by the crew
Getting into the HSU makes you halfway to a KSO, the warden just finished the job
we're more or less just left to assume the warden found them in HSUs and made them KSOs after the fact since Schaeffer was also just an employee in both timelines
also I cant be fuckin bothered to scroll all the way back up to reply to it directly but
Schaeffer very likely breaks his control in OG the same way we see in ALT, given he knows about the machine to rip the implant out
We dont get to see it, but its very likely to be the case
man they can barely get the gardens to run well, you think they can handle making a whole ass jungle optimized
By freezing the trees maybe
The creatures hate light, since the surface is so inhospitable, it seems safe to assume all plants and creatures live beneath the surface
Well there is confirmation of sleepers on the surface of earth. Unless there is no day/night cycle anymore that would be ... problematic. to add onto that we get attacked at day in R7C2 and R7B3 (on destination)
Attacked yeah, but they do hate light. Also, the intro is always dark, so I figure they terraformed earth somehow.
creatures don't hate light, they stand right in front of incredibly powerful light in the complex
i think it's more so the change on it, which could make em be more active in mornings n stuff maybe?
Mabye, but also consider where the initial structures were found in the meteor
If earth is terraformed why not destination? (has still day/night cycle)
Hard to say, too many storms mabye?
sleepers also don't seem a intelligent species technology wise
cause they infected, not a species
isn't alpha [or well destination? is that whatcha mean?] another planet?
I was just about to say that was a hole in my theory
Possibly
it is
confirmed
The problem with it being another dimension is that another lifeforms would have to have made the portals then, but there is no mention of other infected besides the humans
there are and we fight them
I suppose you could argue that those are nonhuman, I always thought they were just further along in mutation
No I am talking about the flyers
Oh, that's true, they do show up in the compound
AFTER we teleport in R6B1
But the rest seem like infected humans, besides the kraken
Kraken, flyers and shockers
But yeah those are the only infected other species we see
So only the parasite came in the meteor, so once again, where are the ones who built it
Have we actually seen the portal structures?
We have seen our portal structures yes
R6B1, R6D1, R7C2sec
I meant the alien parts of them, not the project insight constructs
yeah alien stuff
Matter wave projector I think has to do with that, it seems to be linked to those crystals
Ok, mabye I misunderstood, I was under the impression that the portal tech made use of alien tech, not just the strange materials
I think it's materials but not sure.
we seem to power them with crystals from destination at least
Then I feel like that lines up with destination being another dimension more
Possible, but not earth
As time goes slower there
My memory is that the MWP is an alien device, but it's contained in silicon or something to prevent it from activating inadvertently.
I don't think the logs make it very clear as to what artifact 7 actually is under that coating, though.
Ok, I think I got it. So millions of years ago, the central star of NGC 6302 begins to collapse, as it is one of the hottest stars we know of, we have no idea what happened at those energy levels, but it opens a portal to another dimension. This is backed up by the shape of the nebula, as it resembles things spewing from the center, as well as the fact that the materials in the nebula seem to be crystalline according to Wikipedia. One of these large chunks hurdles toward earth, creating the crater we now call garganta. Inside of what is essentially a geode resides a virus that begins to mutate the people who come into contact with it, as well as an alien material that, once properly used, acts as a tether to the creatures original dimension.
Then all that jazz with kovac goes down, the mining company starts drilling, stoppers start mutating etc.
Only things I don't understand are why the first mission to Mars is so significant as to add it into a log, and who the warden is
Isn't Mars just HSU flavor?
Mabye, seemed like they dwelled on it for a while tho
Isn't it 3 or so logs, setting up HSUs, Kovac and their higher ups, etc.?
the only physical structures of them we have seen at all outside of logs and the hammerstein collection is this
i've never heard about that. would love to see though
what? have a read of the "for dummies" doc in the pins. we have direct evidence in the logs of not only the hyper advanced alien race, but their technology
u have the screenshot qwq
then it isnt r7b3
i actually talked about this with cubix early today. read from here down
this is r6b1
there chu go qwq
AH
i wonder if
itll still b there on alt
where is it like on the map?
who knows. given it is modeled directly --
-- its behind where you spawn where you teleport
part of the cliff is carved out aswell.
i only took a pic of the sandstone though.
-- it is modeled directly into the geometry of the tile, so they'd have to remake the tile were that the case, and i'm not sure they'd do that. the biggest changes they did with destination tiles is adding in charger gunk (ironically in that same tile) in r7e1, but it is much easier to add stuff to the tile than carve it away
as they'd have to remodel both that and the bits of the cliffside that are cleared out
yeh but idk would b like very very funk if they did, i gotta like see it first thing when i tp
yeah, you just do a 180 and its there.
ok :]
snaps its neck
ah, here you can see the bottom of the cliff a bit better
its carved out around it
a lot of people thought it was an imprint from the base of the teleporter pad, but no other level we have ever used one in created this imprint.
I forgot about the massive explosion. Atleast that clears up what happened to the other race. Although the rest of the theory still checks out, NGC 6302 being the first extradimensional portal
also idk why i was thinkin of this earlier so ik its, probs incorrect but i still, will write it ksmdskms
so the alt started by like, unknown causes, as it says in like the dummies document, but i was thinkin dumb stuff
so we travel, back to rundown 1 n stuff, and the warden did it so we dont hijack it in R7
what im thinkin is like what if, warden used the matter wave projector for that? like it used some shenaningans with it, we went back, and now stuff is like different. then, in r6, we are gonna use the mwp again, so we revert everything?
full idea is like, warden sent us back with the mwp to the ALTS, we get to ALT r6, we undo it somehow and then r7 is the exact same?
lorewise its kinda dumb cause like its a nothin tale, its just a loop and absolutely nothin changes, but what if thats like, the reason in gameplay theres not gonna be an ALT r7
no, you misunderstand. the explosion happened on earth in like 2053
we dont know what ended the allens. presumeably nam-v and the virus
and it isn't the first time the allens jumped either
I know, but it said it was an anti parasite measure, so the Allen's all got infected, then promptly disintegrated
we know that for a fact since hammerstein found specimens from countless universes in the inner
What log was that in?
This week I drew the conclusion that the lifeforms we have been finding do not appear to come from the same evolutionary tree. Indeed, many of them appear to have at least partially evolved in drastically different environments, though there is clearly a commonality in the mutations they all share. There is no indication that the artifacts and objects we have found within the fossil were designed for use by any of the creatures, so quite how they ended up there is still a mystery. The bizarre disappearance of the equipment while working on Artifact 13 suggests some method of transformation or even transportation beyond our current understanding. As such, the origin of these creatures remains a mystery - but they come from different places. Different planets? Universes? I am confident I will unravel the mystery, but my impatience for understanding is overwhelming!
QSW-EQW-S99
Weird
he even managed to recover a few living ones
I will be conducting a behavioral analysis of the few living creatures we have managed to capture.
Could those have been flyers and baby krakens?
if you haven't read the "for dummies" doc in the pins of this channel, i highly reccomend it. it has been thoroughly researched by over a dozen people and has been updated constantly over the past two years.
no for two reasons
firstly, the fliers were first encountered in the ef01 log where durant mentions them hunting down him and his team, so it wouldn't make sense for him to not know what they were by that point if they also found specimens of them in the inner,
and secondly krakens are a sort of biological aircraft carrier for the floaters. Appearing to be highly mutated ocean life, resembling the cuttlefish here on earth, their uninfected specimens would be vastly different to what we see in r6c1 and what we fight in r6d1.
It's still completely absurd that they were studying namv as the entire world was collapsing
Hey where's jim, he's late on his spectrum analysis
Oh, he got fucking gored and eaten alive two days ago man
Ah you're right. Well, better keep working!
Were they trying to cure it or were they just doing science experiments
If they were trying to cure it then i can accept that
Idk
Evil company does evil stuff
They didn't warn WHO or CDC
Lied to their staff
Did human experiments
Doesn't look very altruistic
They did the stereotypical "sacrifice literally the entire globe for money" spiel by not saying anything and continuing to drill when half their employees were dying
The dummy lore txt says they were drilling while kovac was actively holding back sleepers
If I understood it right
What the hell were they trying to do
Some suspension of disbelief is required for pretty much all post apocalyptic scenarios
But then again, somebody's gotta fall for those god awful scam callers/emails otherwise they wouldn't be profitable enough to keep doing them, right?
this time it's really a nigerian prince guys
hang on, let me check with my nigerian friend, they might know better than me
we are so close, the cure is right there! It's in the next chamber, I'm sure of it! If we just keep going a little more it'll all be okay!
Like a gambler trying to hit it big, ignoring the costs on the way there.
I mean at that point what else would you do
if NAM-V is decimating the world, every organization able would be focused on a cure no matter how unlikely
In alt, I agree... but in our original worldline, the surface was and is okay. No sleepers
The could have pulled out and helped the world recover with what they knew
i thought the original timeline still had a huge loss of population to nam-v? I remember a terminal in r7...c2 I think? (gen cluster) that said the US was down 50% of it's population
built a wall around garganta
Yes, but given time earth could recover. Nam-v would starve itself out
I wonder why they went with the "World is completely fucked" approach
Don't get me wrong, you are still returning to the middle ages, but I'd rather be there than nowhere
just kind of feels like our actions have no weight since there's no point, no world to return to at all (if the warden's goal with the KSOs is developing a cure)
tbh garganta does seem like a self-solving problem, all they do is sleep. fill the holes with concrete and leave it buried forever
original timeline sounds much better
I hope they wrap this up in alt r6 and we go back
im curious to see how they link the two at all if r7 isn't getting alt-'d
TAKE ME BACK, I DONT WANNA LIVE IN THIS SHITHOLE ANYMORE
literally
cause if we do go back to the original timeline in alt r6 to link back up with r7 / r8, what was even the point?
Still, floaters are now out so our original is fucked too
yeah those things wouldnt have a hard time escaping garganta
Sleepers couldn't get thru the bulkheads, but nothing stopping the floaters from just flying up
Out the giant holes we go down thru
more concrete
Those tunnels go down 2k meters... and there are hundreds of them
then maybe just some saran wrap on the top
You'd need a whole hell of alot
LMAO
idk the original timeline seems a lot better IMO, i feel like "world is entirely fucked and you have no chance of accomplishing anything" stories aren't. good
US military (What's left of it) can handle some meatballs
it makes r7's whole theme more impactful too IMO
They'd have to from range
what's the point of going AWOL and trying to escape garganta if there's nothing at all to escape to?
hopefully they'd know that by that point
Like birds and fish
Can't exactly tell a bird to fuck off
Fish, with enough time you could build dams and such
depends if floaters try to kill all sentient life or just threats to their existence? likely the former
Well I would think the point of any species is to infect and propagate
but their goal seems to just be kill
Infecting new hosts I'd think would be the most important
Well we don't know what happens to our squad when we lose
We could just be incapacitated then turned
good point
Given even when one man goes down, we don't ever die
somehow despite the surely-broken-bones
If you leave a guy with a swarm chasing they won't tear him apart on the ground like zombies
eugh i never really thought about that
And the only corpses we have ever seen were people that died from nam-v without the parasite present, as the mutations are always half way done
We never find just actual corpses
makes sense
even just the random heads we find in the biocom server room are still infected heads
This suddenly reminds me of something...
The UN Expedition upon ariving to Gargnatha's Entrance noted that they couldn't find anyone. No signs of fighting, or struggles, even fully loaded helicopter carrier ready at the place, but just... No one there. Like everyone just left. No corpses either.
It is VERY weird that we just never find normal corpses anywhere. Surely one worker would climb into some forgotten hole or corner and just die there from starvation.
Small chances it could be a foreshadowing for something, but i have both doubts and no idea what it could possibly foreshadow besides straight mind control.
The fact that experience of the UN squad is the same is what bothers me. I cant sort of forgive that all corpses got eaten down there, but... There's no one upstairs either. So what the fuck?
That too!
Outside of the blowholes we use to deploy there's not really much collateral damage even though we know sleepers absolutely ravaged the facility during the great outbreak
I'll have to boil that one down to limitations of procedural map design
Imagine making a "ravaged room" and have it appear everywhere with same corpses and what not
Powerful addiction to cement
can you blame me
If factorio has taught me ANYTHING
yes
You can not have enough concrete
They could probably build like
A sarcophagus ontop of it
Like what they did in Chernobyl
Now granted it would be risky because you're keeping in creatures and not radiation but like it could work
it wouldn't be that risky other than the noise of construction
all these things do is snooze
Hunt as well
They work like a hive but we already know that
Gonna show this to my latin terminology proffesor so he can laugh at this.
well wouldn't most people have either been infected or eaten?
i agree though, it'd also be nice to occasionally see the bodies of other prisoners that we could loot weapons off of/resources
yeah but i doubt they'd lick the blood clean off the walls, there'd be SOMETHING
fair

At the beginning of the trailer, pictures are shown. Is this the blending of universes? Are we seeing part of the original world?
yeah
Is that Henrikson?
who was that
is it North
at first i thought dauda cause he spoke in one trailer before
but it might be Henrikson
To be fair we never hear our lads without comms filter
defo not shafer
Nope
so it could be North
Same
maybe North is truly making a come back
if at the beginning we see universes merging it would make sense for him to exist
even if temporarily
it has to b one of the main 4, tbh i do head a lil of bishi but unsures
hackkett is a big lead too btw
bishop would sound more aggressive
Its 100% bishop
No one sounds as whiny as him
That does sound like Bishop. But I like to think it could have been Maddox)
Who's North
the old name of bishi i think
Alpha ver playable character who later got replaced by Hackett
Yeah he got wiped from existence
but if in the GTFO universe exist many timelines, maybe in one North is alive
I'm pretty certain that's Hacketts VA
Nah, I don't hear the Scottish
Unless he voices both
Also the man got too emotional towards the end
Ain't no Hackett style
Hackett gets just as if not more emotional in the original launch trailer so I mean
I dont think that's valid
hackett is irish
to my ears, it sounds like the hackett VA without the accent.
I do not know what North sounded like, as that was before i started playing.
if they even had voice lines back then i am not sure.
def sounds like bishop to me
That's Bishop, lmao.
The audio at 0:09 seems interesting.
Counting?
Are there dinosuars underneath the facility? maybe stuck after the asteroid impact?
damn wouldve been nice if we had to fight a dino
Somehow that reminds me of the bipedal robots that started showing up in R4. I thought they would become hostile after putting in a terminal command or that they would be a new kind of objective/alarm system
I was a bit disappointed they were just decoration
same
@eternal talon do you recognise this logo?
i cant quite make it out
but it is plastered all over the mater wave projector
i think its also on the reactor models
like the one in R3A3 i think (the one where the terminal is on glass and below are like spires)
im pretty sure its the same logo
I think this is more likely to be correct.
Could also be UD or VD
Found another version.
??oud I think?
It's also present on the Hydrogen MCFC cell
so its on the 2 power related things (reactor and power cells)
and the matter wave projector
or is it just on the warp gate?
and not the actual matter wave projector
Maybe they are responsible for power grids or systems?
Just the warp gate, to my memory the MWP has Insight-related writing.
explaining their logo on it
would make sense
what
It's like everywhere like CNTRL
Shirano group
You know those canisters and the disinfecting station has nyxos Or something written on it
Is that another corp
Nyxos is much better known.
It's in a few logs setting a backdrop for what suppliers Santonian wants.
Oh
Basically just setting up that they value secrecy.
Secret corpo stuffy
i mean Garganta was on the verge of being illegall before it was even built
like the president of mexico was literally bribed for santonian to get the right to build it
and then well... human experiments and stuff were also im pretty sure illegall
I was playing R3 yesterday, encountered the sleeper mother or whatever that is for the first time, what the fuck are those wobbly warping testicles on the roof everywhere ?
signs there is a mother nearby
Mother eggsacs
Warping poop
Not really. Cause mothers only spawn baby's
Testicle sacs
Yeah that's what it was conflicting, if not womb sacs then wtf it can be
these might be a survival mechanism
to lay some eggs further from the mother
to decrease their chances of being destroyed should the mother be attacked
wait
can you send a photo of it?
cause im pretty sure i know what you mean
but from the descriptions it sounds like respawn sacks
Bro it's at that point that we are all totally okay to believe that it can be her poop 😹😹
overall these almost exclusively only apear when a mother is near
i think only in R3C1 they apear but there is no mom
Got me fucked up for the first time that jumo scare scream
Yes
Only egg and charger
she does not scream in R3B2 tho
Yeah I remembered, she was sleeping
i still remember trying to foam nade her and it going straight through
But like who tf is the mother tho infected pregnant woman?
They seem to morph into their own forms based on their needs, just they're using the human body as a baseplate.
yeah most likely
Yeah kind of a faint smile, popping out the cross section I saw it too, it was quite a detail
since they operate on a hive mind
So, it's presumably some kind of nesting strategy of sorts.
they become what the hive mind needs
Ohh
Still opposed to the use of hive mind here, it's just a colony.
i mean its kinda the same thing
but i suppose hive mind implies mental connections
and they dont really have that
They have collective senses, can say hive mind
Can't be hive mind cause we killed kraken and the game goes on. Checkmate.
i mean the kraken is just one
Yeah
Kraken is just a big infected
yeah
I used to think it is, doesn't scout calling reinforcements count?
Also kraken is destination species
and i doubt it even had a conenction to earth by any means
Like how in Dead Space you kill the Hive Mind in the end but infection still persists.
its technically just a very loud scream
What is a destination species?
other dimension
yeah cause it's not the have mind it's the markers controlling them
the species coming from destination
destination is a diffrent dimension, which apears mostly in R6
R6 and R7 3 new type of enemies
nope
Right, all of the flyers are either neutral forms or based on something else.
yeah but nothing to write home about
That's just the name based on I think a level name?
im pretty sure alpha_X is the name that was used by scientists
And also what is the ceiling bisomass in charger room, it kund of reacts to light the same way, how tf is it that much, dripping. How is it even created?
But "Destination" or "Destination Alpha" is just meant to be a neutral term for the place we go that doesn't assume anything about dimensions, planets, time travel, etc.
Oh, R6 was titled Destination.
most likely some other parasite thing responsible for creation of chargers
It was the name of the rundown.
yeah
so people just use it to talk about the dimension as a whole
or technically its a planet in a diffrent galaxy but you know...
This is a noob question but is it confirmed it's like a manmade virus or actual alien life?
alien
Was about to say. Cause the dimension stuff extends to earth as well as shown in R6D4
I kind of think like the black biomass drips constantly on the sleepers, slowly accumulating keratinous growths, hardening shell and armor, is it something like this, or the biomass is just infected human juice from a parasite creating chargers?
it could be sleepers after coming into contact with it become chargers
Cuz it always dripping
it was in destination before humans were there
It could go either way.
Chargers could also just be defending it.
They are just a heavier striker, after all.
I take it the chargers are "closer" to one of the more 'actual' forms of the species, along with more out there enemies like flyers and what not.
Strikers and shooters still retaining human characteristics.
Yeahhh
i mean we can theorize tanks and pablo are older chargers
with pablo literally being ancient
Another parallel to dead space funny enough. Necromorphs further along are darker in color and look substantially less human.
Prob took as influence low key
I mean whatever the environment throws into this fucked up evolutionary genome blender, they all come up as diff fucked up species, if these were given a half life treatment of a nuke, imagine the fucked up stalker shit
tbh i wouldnt be suprised if the virus didnt already adapt to survive radiation
cause we dont even know if destination is its origin
Dauda's description of it makes me feel like it's more likely a bioweapon than merely well-adapted, though.
i mean its hard to tell
due to how long it existed for
it could have simply evolved to become an absolute menace
chargers have human heads
Also I saw preserved wrinkly degloved body skin something resembling of a sleeper in R3A1 labs in the cylindrical containment, are those the ET species that escaped, if yes Santonian was researching over it, till it became a disaster??
I'm gonna be real that seems the least human part of them.
Viruses don't typically evolve in the direction of an ideal pathogen, though, they're just reacting to available hosts.
Nah if you look real real close, the whole face is there
Spiky bois
This would apply to any organism as well, including the sleeper "colony"
they human based
If that's true then that's brutal.
it is
i mean still, if it was originally preying on some alien civilisation it surely had to adapt to extreme treatment
i think that all of destination is alive beneath the surface, like the shell on a giant flyer
i doubt it would have stopped the virus
looking at (og not alt) earth even though sleepers were only in Garganta, the virus still wiped out humanity
The ultra-powered up version did.
Also who is Schaefer, I've seen you guys talk about him a lot. I listened to his log yesterday. Was he a KSO? Like was he getting voices from BIOCOM Or warden?
Can give me a mildly non spoiling version pls
he was a prisoner just like us, but he broke his program
He Detroit become human'd himself
R6 - R7 he starts talking to us directly
also he did questionable things to poor madox
Alright rahta enough, I think anything more than that will spoil
Alt R1D1 he is still at morse code. the pipes being hit in the corridor to the reactor
what did the morse code translate to btw?
cause i kinda forgot
was it just "go deeper"
behold, the piece of shit rock that caused all this
i mean not really
Don't remember there was also a message in OG R4B1 which is technically the first time he contacts us
the virus arrived on earth with the asteroid
that's just a sample
we have multiple MWP confirmed
R6A1, R7C2sec
And I'm not saying that GTFO couldn't go a similar road as Subnautica, I'm just saying that sort of plot device may be a bit contrived while a bioweapon explanation avoids most of those problems, at least in my mind.
Wait you're telling me there is someone alive beating metal pipes in R1D1, how can we not see him?
You never seen him, even when talking it's over the intercom
the material was originally from destination, the meteor was from an alien race that fell victim to the virus
i suppose so, but then who would make it
yes, but the aliens brought it to us
i know
even if no one went to destination the virus was already on earth
Presumably the allens. They do have highly advanced tech after all, at least to our knowledge.
how do you think the aliens got it?
could have been from an entirely diffrent planet/dimension
could have been a natural virus
could have been a covid scenario
Not necessarily. If you consider us rn, if we really wanted to we could easily annihilate ourselves with nuclear weapons and such.
Welcome to R8 Destination 2
It's possible that they were able to design a bioweapon that they couldn't in-turn answer.
Nah I expect the new environment to be the core/ship/thing
i suppose so, this wouldnt explain the parasite tho
if only we had a weird dimension that could have allowed for such a virus to evolve into a symbiotic relationship with a parasite in
Arguably worse than nuclear weapons, since we actually tested and used them w/out ending the world.
oppenheimer be like
If you let out NAM-V on accident, it's just over.
like i said, the only thing about it being a bio weapon i dont understand is the parasite
did they make the parasite too?
that seems like an actual suicide
Presumably it's just how it's engineered. The virus alone doesn't do much besides kill people, so they need the parasite to carry it and spontaneously create massive colony structures out of the target population.
hmm tbh maybe the colony structures were an accident
The artificial extention of the parasite's life is also striking to me.
Kind of feels like the virus was designed to enhance their chosen vessel, which may have itself been naturally occuring prior.
A parasite to disgusting ceiling goo, if given more resources, another hell on this planet.
we know the virus came from deep in the meteor, we also know that it was deadly to the aliens who built the egg, the aliens who just happened to be fleeing their planet in a ship filled with the exact artifacts needed to acess another hostile dimension.
I would definitely be more willing to think that the parasite is natural than the virus.
i still dont understand how this makes destination the source of all evil (NAM-V)
that could make sense, we dont have much info on the parasite, but i still highly doubt it
A 50/50 handshake between my parasite and my virus to give me a sleep of the millenia.
?????? how?
is that not what you are implying?
that if not for destination, nothing would have happened?
YES, in what world is that not the case?
we dont even know if destination is the home world of the allens nor the virus
it could just be that not all allens crashed on earth
cause i doubt only a singular ship escaped
we know it is not the homeworld of the allens, but we know it is the homeworld of nam-v
My reading of the "fossil" is that they wouldn't even need to flee necessarily. If something like the MWP can be used to go to and fro, the place(s) they visit may have been hit while they were away, and they accidentally brought it on-board. From there, it just continued its natural trajectory until it happened upon Earth.
just read the pinned lore for dummies
possible, but the origins of the virus and whatnot remain the same, and since their vessel had a machine to completley purge biomaterial, i would assume it was meant to escape
Also, not sure what Frostty said specifically but we probably don't know that Destination is the ultimate source of sleepers, it's just likely to be the most direct source relative to Garganta.
yeah
we have no idea if nam-v originated on it
if we were to say its a bioweapon it literally means it could have simply been a testing ground
oh my gosh, go read the lore for dummies already, he said sleepers, not nam-v
Ask frossty if there is a log backing it up
i dont mean him, i mean you
otherwise it's just assumption on his part
you said its the source of all evil
It's basically implied because they explained that, in order to stop the virus, we would have to reach the planet it originated from. And then they go to "destination". That's it.
It makes sense, but its never "confirmed" directly
well there we go
frossty's base
Frostty is engaging w/ the lore the same as most of us, that doc is just meant to be a quick introduction since the total source material to pull from is quite daunting to people that started in R6 or R7.
oh, bad timing i guess, but still makes no sense, if it were a bioweapon, why develop it in an active mining site? and why were all the allens dead then
wait what active mining site
i mean that it was tested on destination (just like nukes irl)
and then the allens went ahead and used it in their homeworld
there are sites on destination.
alien or human?
Not Allen, tho.
"I see no future for us if we do not seek the origin of these lifeforms and find an immune genome. If we are to survive NAM-V, we must turn to the nature that created it. Evolution has had millions of years to fight the virus. We have months. "
Thats the quote I meant btw
But if @edgy pecan means garganta then no. that's earth and not destination
yeah
thats why i was confused
do we mean garganta as an active mining site or things on destination
oh, you mean the allens developed it? nope, still makes no sense, they just happen to stumble on an alternate dimension as a virus leak happens, not buying it
It's confirmed we did not develop it
thats what i thought he was arguing, which would have been really dumb
no
Doesn't even have need to have been tested, just needs to have gotten out of a controlled environment.
yeah true
Also Cubix disagrees w/ me afaik.
do i
Do you?
i dunno
do i?
its funny cause all i wanted to say - that destination might not be the reason why nam-v ended on earth
and then it kinda went down the rabbit hole of being a bioweapon
it is still massively unlikely, the allens possessed tech far beyond our own, and even we can survive in destination pretty easily, so it wouldnt have been deployed unless they were absolutley sure it had no effect on themselves, and if it was an outbreak, the timing is ridiculously convienent
What about the timing is convenient?
The only thing that stands out to me is that the fossil hit Earth and not literally anything else if not nothing at all.
i would be amazed if only one escaped
likely
thats possible, but at that point its kind of splitting hairs as we know nothing about the virus or destination prior to the allens
and again, given that it has symbiosys with the parasite, the most logical conclusion is that it originated in destination
My idea of the bioweapon idea, personally, is something like:
-It breaks out of containment, is used in war, or otherwise begins to spread on its own in at least one place that the allens inhabit.
-From there, it transmits through individuals or some medium carried through the MWP technology, infecting other places that the allens inhabit (Destinations, Fossils, etc.)
-The fossil we encounter is one such victim, and the entire things has been adrift carrying the infection for potentially millions of years.
-At some point, it hits Earth, and millions of years later we're fully unearthing it.
It could have started on Destination, but it could have started anywhere.
It could have even been held on a fossil initially.
seems like an awful big coincidence
I'm not really seeing the coincidence.
i prefer the "we messed with stuff we didnt understand and opened a portal to hell" explanation
the virus outbreak AND hostile extradimensional beings at the same time all on one ship?
also we see the same pustules on the kraken as we do on mutated humans like mothers and tanks
Hostile extradimensional beings?
Are you just suggesting you think Allens in general are unlikely?
flyers and krakens, if not the planet itself
they aint mutated humans, and they aint mutated allens
allens
Was this in the dummy guide?
ye
yeah he infected as well
Oh crap it is.
We don't know that, tho. Allens would explain them neatly, and a neutral form is also fine.
That's the name of them, supposedly?
Being a bioweapon doesn't preclude them from having a neutral form.
they only show up after the portal to destination is opened, there would have been corpses , or living specimens if they had been on the egg, but Schafer calls them "something new"
they arent allens
Schaeffer calls the snatcher something new.
he's talking about the snatchers
That's a misreading.
I had the same misconception when I first played because shaeffer raves about "something new, something not human" then you get attacked by floaters
I can't believe they pulled an R3C1 again.
oh, fair enough
yeah snatcher, you hear the sound as well when he sees it
(will also never forgive the devs for butchering the amount of floaters on that level)
And that makes sense as snatcher first appearance is R7C1 while the flyers appear in R6B1 a whole rundown before him having that text
we should still see them prior to the portal opening though, the allens had lots of specimens preserved, but we dont
Ehhh, we haven't gone very deep, and presumably they've come to prefer terrestrial forms over the past few million years.
not if all specimens on the fossil are dead
also yeah depth
they arent, the virus clearly survived on something, and they have a collection of preserved biological specimens
I'm also not sure what the conclusion is that we're meant to end up at.
Wouldn't this just imply that sleepers and flyers are completely unrelated?
But that's obviously not the case, so...
how is that obvious, they look nothing alike
Ok but they are contained to the deeper parts where we haven't gone. then R6B1 happens and oops now They can come from destination
Same warped mouths/teeth, noodle-like appendages, decayed eyes, etc.
In the sense they infected by the same thing
^ Twisted shape of a different base creature.
destination native. probably
exactly
Also, they fight alongside sleepers constantly, so...
Yes so this explains why we don't see em pre teleport
I know they are infected, i know they aint human (what i meant by looking different) and if they were allens we would see them pre r6b1
So you... don't agree?
You've agreed with DJ twice, and disagreed with him at the end.
I admit I am confucius
you know allens arent destination native right?
No, we do not know that. It wouldn't be far-fetched, though.
yes, we do know that, read the lore for dummies
What is Frostty refering to that actually demonstrates that?
I'm not even sure if Frostty has said that.
Wait, isn't this literally what I'm saying?
Our story begins with a species of ancient, hyper advanced aliens from another plain of existence. In one way or another, this species, the Allens, either create or come across NAM-V and the Parasite.
While there is very little information on these events in the timeline, we know for a fact that their planet and civilization was wiped out by the virus and the parasite, with the survivors fleeing to earth.
However, the virus and the parasite had already made its way onto their vessel, and the crew was swiftly either killed or infected. Their vessel which would later be known as the Fossil, or the Inner, would warp into our reality and crash into the earth, landing in the Yucatan peninsula, and wiping out the dinosaurs.
In the 16th century, earthquakes in the Chicxulub region releases NAM-V into the environment, spreading outward from the village of Ixil, and killing the local populous. NAM-V would later be referred to by them as "Flea Demons".
Luckily for all life on earth, at the time the region was far too isolated for it to spread, and it quickly consumed all its food, and died out.
However, this section of the "For Dummies" Document is called "Pre-Apocalypse" for a reason.
the allens were from a planet in our dimension in NGC6302, as confirmed by the santonian website hidden code
Sooo?
then the lore for dummies is incorrect
because we are told for a fact the allens are from our home dimension
There are bits here I'd probably disagree with, but I'm not sure where the broad picture is coming from.
let me find it, hang on
Destination has never been confirmed another dimension
^
Trans-dimensional stuff is involved, but the MWP doesn't necessarily bring you to other dimensions.
The log describing this is notoriously hard to understand, as well.
I would not lean very strongly one way or the other.
But iirc it implies that you can use extra dimensions for FTL travel in your own dimension.
Yeah the different dimensions and Destination is 2 different things as shown with R6D4 and with the Alt's very existence inplying in the Alt timeline/dimension there is another Destination as well
