Hi I just started and have lore questions. I read the doc so these are just follow ups.

So the parasite and NAM-V are two different things

Do they infect at the same time or does one happen before the other?

Same time. Most parasites are infected with NAM-V to begin with, so catching one is automatically a NAM-V infection (although we have a confirmation of non-infected parasites).
As for the tongue being the parasite... We honestly don't know. That would be the easy jump to conclusion, but the lore gives us very little to work with - we don't know how they look like, what size they are... One log mentions them "finding a way in" into protective suits, so i assume its small. And we never see just crawling around the place so who the hell knows.
Most people are convinced that the "tongue" is just horrifically mutated digestive system (guts in particular), repurposed for offensive actions.

i was doing some research just cuz why not and basically what i think is the process behind this is that

they gathered the 24 neonate hsus

which is typical as hormones regulate literally everything about us
