The holes are what the beams left behind.

cold sphinx
#

Ah

burnt wren
#

Pay attention next time you drop. It looks like an explosion went off.

cold sphinx
#

That explains alot

#

Yeah

burnt wren
#

It burned all the way to the surface

cold sphinx
#

Could see the rubbles and steel shrapnel

#

But hey

#

This might be late to ask but

#

What really is the main way these things reproduce

#

Multiplying in the great numbers

burnt wren
#

Big shrug

#

We know for a fact at least some are mutated humans

#

But then the cocoons exist

#

And mothers... Do the little ones grow up, or?...

cold sphinx
#

Im thinking about them assimilate humans

cold sphinx
burnt wren
#

Frankly all 3 could be true simultaneously.

cold sphinx
#

And the white are assimilated

harsh pike

indicating it came from within

cold sphinx
#

Idk bout giants and hybirds tho

burnt wren
#

But it doesn't explain why cocoons reliably produce standard human like sleepers.

harsh pike
#

i think strikers are 'native' aliens aren't they?

burnt wren
#

Surely they would be producing random ass flesh horrors.

harsh pike
#

but they can assimilate humans to become basically. the same thing

cold sphinx
burnt wren
#

Nah.

cold sphinx
#

Hmm

burnt wren
#

Look up for an example of the native

#

Where is it...

cold sphinx
cold sphinx
burnt wren
#

That's not how it works.

#

Nukes create craters, not tunnels.

cold sphinx
#

Idk how much power anything could do that in that deep

#

Yeah it was a wild card guess

burnt wren
#

Well at this point I'm 99% certain its an ancient alien ship.

#

And someone there still knows how to operate it.

so just noticed that in this log it is said that on the day of the giant QGP beam explosion, right before the explosion occurred, project insight broke into a chamber deep underground. inside the previously sealed chamber, a sleeper was found.

how was a sleeper all the way down inside that sealed chamber? does this mean that some sleepers are not human? because how would a human even get down there to be infected in the first place?

#

^the log, from ALT://R5

jaunty widget
#

I do remember it being sealed but this log isn't saying it was sealed. Granted if Gianna's team are the people doing the drilling then it means how they found it was through a wall but that doesn't mean it has to be sealed same way if you drilled through to a cave system it doesn't mean that's the only entrance into it so maybe I'm just making up remembering it was actually a sealed chamber they found?

burnt wren
#

It 100% implies they found a new room

jaunty widget
#

Right but again, finding a room and going in through a wall does not imply there is not a door

burnt wren
#

Sleepers are not universally human

#

Fliers are an example of that

#

They're still part of their hive

#

...they just don't sleep, usually

harsh pike
#

good question

#

something something gameplay reasons

strange grove
#

because chimp's brain matter is concentrated in the back of the head
so, the sleepers, being mutated chimps, would naturally take more damage there

keen mantle
#

I think it’s cuz of parasites itself. I’m they use the head as a main part but If the head is shot of with the vital portions still alive, then it would still be active

#

Hence why the “worm” part of it (the ones licking us) can still get us

lilac island
#

maybe in stealth the parasite didnt move from the back of the head (you snooze you lose)

#

since it doesn't know it will get hit

harsh pike
#

i assume the parasite 'rests' in their stomach

#

that's why it looks so fucked up

#

and it can still lick with no head + a blown apart chest

lilac island
harsh pike
#

i figured the tongues were the parasite

lilac island
#

also

#

didnt it say somewhere the parasites were just in symbiosis with virus particles?

cold sphinx
#

They are creatures that resembles alot of microscopic creatures

#

They can detach parts on their bodies and the main body still functions fine

#

Like the microscopic hydra for instance

#

It also meant that they dont bleed

#

The blood splattered all over you screen is there organic material being sliced up and or blown off

#

Oh wait @burnt wren do the sleepers regenerate or they just stay with their wounds

burnt wren
#

last i checked - latter, damage they take is permanent

cold sphinx
#

Completely new animations set

Don’t mention it

I have a few questions that I am just going to list regarding the logs in r5a2

#

What does Duada mean by this is the eleventh plague?
Did woods know that nam-v was going to happen, and does he know about the multiverse?

burnt wren
# plush nest What does Duada mean by this is the eleventh plague? Did woods know that nam-v w...

Probably a religious reference to plagues. I think he understood that namv can't be beaten so might as well.

Not sure about Woods, but he definetely knows something. Or at the very least he believes he does, and it just happens to align with the events.
I think he's getting premonitions and unlike most people he reads them for what they are and fully trusts them whole everyone else questions them and slowly goes insane. Woods is already insane, so for him this is all according to plan.

#

there's a document in the pinned comments that explains like at basic level all the lore, including what r sloipers, but as a short answer they r mutated humans that act funky

lore wise

burnt wren

Big shrug, could be anything

#

Its clearly an apex sleeper form, but like...
Is it original?
Is it an infected form of something that actually lived on that planet?
Dead Space style final amalgamation of all the sleepers on the planet?
Toss a coin and your guess will be just as good as ours.

If we're lucky - we'll get an insight in ALT//R6

weak talk
me and my team walkin into d1 hyped

clear furnace
#

Bro I loved the kracken it was cool af

#

Also I believe it was once an alien that made the parasite and/or the virus but was transformed by its own creation

#

Or I think its some sort of hive mind that is almost commanding sleepers back on Earth.

burnt wren
#

I know the "hit the crab's weak point for massive damage" is like a smear in gaming community, but i don't know

#

What were their alternatives? Just let us shoot him nilly willy until his HP bar runs out either way?

#

They're not doing custom cutscenes / QTEs, that much is clear so they can't even go Dead Space route

#

Hmmm... Maybe... One neat idea would be to have some kind of giant cannons pointed at the thing and we would have to execute terminal commands to shoot and maybe even reload them.

#

That would be very much on brand for the game.

#

But fine, i'll take glowing eyes too.

clear furnace

Carry the sheel to the cannon

I could see it

I think something that required a bit more coordination would be better. Though I still love the spectacle.

eternal talon

naive crow
#

I have a theory as to what the kraken is
You know how sleeper corpses teleport away when they die? I think the kraken is all of that biomass pushed into an amalgam shape

eternal talon
#

humans can't teleport.

#

as far as we know the kraken is exclusively trapped on destination.

#

floaters also can't teleport back and forth, only locally. this is easily shown by the fact floaters dont appear in garganta until we accidentally let them in in r6b1

eternal talon
#

take r7b1 for example, they teleport into the room with the neonate box via the roof of the greenhouse

#

they've never teleported from destination to earth before

#

they only got to earth because the wrdn failed to close the tether in r6b1

#

no floaters in the game before that

#

gameplay-wise, its because they weren't made yet.

#

story wise, its the only that fits.

#

-- i should say, best supported by evidence in-game

broken oriole
harsh saffron

I could certainly see some nice opportunities to visit some intereting locations/points in time, since we teleport so frequnetly in R6.

burnt wren

Can't wait to see what will happen to R6 logs and most importantly to mandatory audio monologues.
Do you think they will change?

broken oriole

Make alt R6EX pls

harsh saffron
burnt wren
#

I mean... Log is log

Audio or text - we are only interested in information it provides

#

While text logs remained untouched (mostly, there are differences) - we got some very cool audio ones.

Like NATO mission progressing deeper into the complex.

burnt wren

Or Mr Truth slowly losing his mind... Or Woods regaining it instead...

cold sphinx
burnt wren
#

Here's an interesting thought: do you think any of the guns that we use were specifically designed to fight sleepers?

clear furnace
#

Hel guns seem pretty sleeper heavy

#

Though again would be very useful for CQC in a real engagment considering how easily targets could line up or possibly penetrate through walls

wary portal
#

anyone got the log from R5D1 from the zone that opens when reactor shuts down

burnt wren
#

There are 2 of D1 logs, so it's one of them

#

One is describing effects of namv on victims, the other describes a suicide accident

#

Unless wiki is missing one...

#

Both are old logs, but theyre changed. The suicide in particular is much worse than the original one.

pastel ether

plush nest
#

So new hsu case things

clear furnace
#

If anything I think it would be a mission to prepare for another round of the neonatal process that we spent all of R7 doing

#

But its a lot deeper than most of those other missions

#

I doubt the depth refers to AWOL because this is the wardens interface

plush nest
#

Also this

#

R7c3 the warden opens the armoury and then supposedly does nothing?

#

I am curious on what the wardens main goal was here, if he just was going to leave us for dead? But then why open the armoury? Or try and get us out, again but it didn’t open anything we had to wait for Hendrickson to open it for us

raw terrace
#

maybe the warden was tryin to open it but was slower than henrickson [dik how to spell it anymore qwq] but the warden didnt had any problems with the armoury so it just opened right away

clear furnace
#

Besides we may only be controlling the drop

harsh pike
cold sphinx
#

That was the warden

#

Plugging in the main objective gave us down time to reach the armory before it could try to unlock towards extraction

clear furnace
#

I think this really validates the point that we really have no clue what the Wardens goals are

#

Whatever we think they might be are most likely wrong. Especially if he's helping a bunch of rouge KSO's survive their mission

cold sphinx
cold sphinx
clear furnace
#

Maybe it's getting ready for something

cold sphinx
#

Cause the worlds end is already is

#

And where u gonna find anyone willing to jump in a hsu and do ur bidding

clear furnace
#

Maybe our team is so valuable that he doesn't wanna let us die

cold sphinx
#

I wouldn’t think that

#

It sends us down and already said that prisoners/resources loss is high

#

So meaning that it dont give AF

harsh pike
#

I figured it was slowly working on a cure

#

Thats why we do all this science work with the babies

#

Some stem cell bullshit or something

clear furnace
#

than why would it have any incentive to help us if we are so expendable

cold sphinx
#

All the valued assets are dead

#

And or have no access to that

cold sphinx
#

If it could clone us

#

Then it will have a connection to us playing in simulations

clear furnace
#

Then again by R7 it already has access to KDS Deep

cold sphinx
#

Like how many players have survived and or completed the tasks given

cold sphinx
#

We simply get help from Schaffer and henrickson

#

But props to Schaffer for hitting the brakes

#

It was a move the warden cannot calculate

#

So the mission that you took the Trojan was likely under its nose

#

Without it noticing

#

Id imagine the Warden works and give out work loads in order to achieve goals set on A1 till E1

eternal talon
cold sphinx
#

Oh wow

#

I didn’t have to ring the lore bell

#

Nice

#

Heya frostty

eternal talon
#

cold sphinx
#

But it coulddd mean that were the only assets in that specific time

#

And its gathering alot of more resources

#

And KSOs

eternal talon
#

Schaeffer also got TP'd despite no longer being a controlled kso.

cold sphinx
#

For KDS

eternal talon
#

There is just so much we don't know

#

So much whack

cold sphinx
#

Yup

#

Alt makes everything we knew more blurry

#

And worse tbh

eternal talon
#

It's what time travel / alternate universes do to fiction

#

Stakes are no longer existent because there is the perfect ending out there somewhere

#

Deus-ex-machinas are easily explainable and infinite in quantity

#

"It was all a dream" but worse since it actively tries to be possible

cold sphinx
#

Could be that

#

Or all could be an simulation

#

Of us getting plugged in

#

Dunno yet

eternal talon
#

Only real piece of fiction that comes to mind that does it good is Steins;Gate, and that's just flipping it on its head and portraying the journey to that perfect ending

#

In gtfo, forgive me, but I've not seen much traveling.

#

We are side characters to schaeffer's story

#

And we only see it in infomercial sized chunks.

#

Like, where's THAT game?

cold sphinx

#

Id say GTFI

cold sphinx

eternal talon

Anything he might have had when he was indoctrinated into the KSOs is probably long gone by now

It could be other squads, but it doesn't explain why we can't find their corpses or why all the objectives are untouched

eternal talon

"Intercepted" maybe, I don't recall

burnt wren
#

Since many texts reffernce them carrying shit yet I don't see power cells just laying around in a puddle of blood

Mimics are children intelligence wise, it was an honest mistake

cold sphinx
burnt wren

Mimic, unit, Specimens, the replacement...

cold sphinx

But it did mention some good details

burnt wren
#

Those are their nicknames

cold sphinx
#

That Schaffer didn’t get

burnt wren
#

Artificial humans

plush nest
#

Oh

cold sphinx
#

Hastly created humans

#

Tbh they really suck ass

burnt wren
#

...for now

cold sphinx
#

Idk why the sleepers don’t attack them

clear furnace
#

Project Rise was the mission to create artificial humans that cannot be detected by humans. These are also called mimics for their resemblance to humans.

burnt wren
#

KSOs would be out of job if project rise was finished

plush nest
#

The sleepers can’t detect them right ?

cold sphinx
burnt wren
#

Yep, most of them anyway

clear furnace
burnt wren
#

Scouts still can though

cold sphinx
clear furnace
plush nest
#

Well I assume scouts detect anything that moves

burnt wren
#

You're talking past each other

#

I don't think mimics got any metal in them

cold sphinx
cold sphinx
plush nest
#

So would a sleeper that is moving cause it to trigger?

cold sphinx
#

Could had sworn i heard alot of static and metal dragging sounds

clear furnace
#

Complete r7d1 and you can see a mimic for yourself

cold sphinx
burnt wren
#

No no no. Scouts are checking something else.

plush nest
burnt wren
#

Mimics reproduce pheromones that trick sleepers into thinking they are one of them.

cold sphinx
#

Huh

#

Thats rad

burnt wren
#

But scouts detect intruders by different means, not pheromones

cold sphinx
#

Yep

burnt wren
#

So the disguise doesn't work on them

cold sphinx
#

Scouts really do work differently than the rest

#

So the scout is both a patrol and a security for the sleepers

burnt wren
#

Pretty much, just making sure.

cold sphinx
#

Like the soldiers in a ant colony

plush nest
#

Do we know how the different sleepers form?

cold sphinx

It will detect sus amongus and kills them on smell wrongly

burnt wren

plush nest
#

So the possibility of new things in r8 is still there?

cold sphinx

burnt wren
#

We don't have a single log directly reffering any of the mini bosses

#

Which is... Fascinsting...

burnt wren
#

Although... Although...

plush nest
#

There is not a single mention?

burnt wren
#

There is one very creep log in ALT 5

cold sphinx
#

And as we dont have logs that explain even a bit of an birther

#

Even ingame

fluid crypt
#

Birther?

plush nest
cold sphinx

#

Even the tank

fluid crypt
#

Oh lmao yeah I’d rather fight two tanks than one mother.

plush nest

Yep

burnt wren
#

Or was it alt4...

cold sphinx
#

Mothers are easy to deal with when out of sights and are prioritized

#

Tanks however do not

plush nest
#

Hel shotguns are a funny thing with mothers

burnt wren
#

Oh shit, it was Jordy...

cold sphinx
#

Likely hood of you fighting one

cold sphinx
#

But towards your opinion about forming of a sleepers

#

@plush nest hybirds a d chargers are a different thing

plush nest
#

Do we know what they are?

cold sphinx
#

Y see the black hardenings of a normal sleeping giant?

plush nest
#

Chargers to me seem like a different colony if that makes sense

#

With their nests

fluid crypt
#

That does make sense

cold sphinx
#

Its the same stuff that is creating the hard toughness to the chargers

burnt wren
#

In R4 there is a log of a session between local psychiatrist and the worker named Jordy.
Jordy later committed a suicide. He does it on both universes, albeit by radically different means.

fluid crypt
#

But personally I think we should view the monsters as a more advanced ant colony with a rugged caste system.

cold sphinx
fluid crypt
#

Any colonies have workers, fighters and the Queen. We can just assume this caste system has more layers

burnt wren
#

However what's interesting is that in ALT R4 the log is changed completely. Jordy is swapped for a different person - Mia, who is claiming that something is inside of her head.
At the end of the log she.... Apparently starts turning into something.

the parasite, with the virus, keeps the host alive indefinately. the host literally never dies. inside every sleeper you kill is a sentient and "conscious" person that has been suffering for god knows how long, obviously without the means to either speak, hear, or whatever depending on the mutations. My head canon here is that there's just these large balls of the active sleepers roaming around the complex, and by peeling off large groups of them we end up redirecting the larger group to move into other sections of the complex.

plush nest
#

That would explain why the sleepers during alarms are different colours than the sleeping ones

clear furnace
# solar nova My head canon here is that there's just these large balls of the active sleepers...

Obviously there is some sort of immense biomass that spans the entirety of Garganta. Idk what to call it but the black biomass that we see in multiple levels I think is all part of one big "biostructure". I think that when an area gets empty of sleepers, more would emerge? be created? from this biomass. This is especially evident when in R7E1 we actively see sleepers emerging from the biomass during the reactor startup. However I also think that this biomass is collapsing in on Garganta. In R7E1 we saw more of this biomass than in most other levels, it also happens to be the deepest level we have been too. Meaning that we are closer to whatever the center of this biomass is than ever before. That same biomass we see in the reactor startup may be blocking off an entire section of the complex and has closed in around it. This thing is massive and if I had to guess, whatever the Warden's goals are, are probably related to this structure.

eternal talon
#

In post apocalyptic stories, if they have a person who is immune, they are a direct plot point and their immunity almost always is the entire plot, in the effort to save humanity. Schaeffer isn't out to save anyone except himself.

#

It would be incredibly poor writing to shoe-horn in at this point. If he was going to be immune, it's something we would have learned really early on, since it would be a significant part of his character.

#

Writing it now, would be at best, an excuse to keep the plot going. The plot as a whole of GTGO is still just "what is the warden doing"?

#

It's not a good idea to make two seperate narratives within a single story. Those that do attempt this as far as I am aware, exclusively combine them around the mid-point to form a single narrative. We have one rundown left

burnt wren
eternal talon
#

I'm not likely to believe that the staff that write the story of GTFO at 10cc are unable to follow basic, common understanding of storytelling

This is a thing that is beyond misunderstanding, errors, or plotholes. This is basic high-school level fundamentals

burnt wren
#

Henrikson is now a thing too

#

Also don't you forget

#

"You have the virus"

eternal talon
eternal talon
# burnt wren ***"You have the virus"***

The following quote: "I am the fucking virus" I would assume to be an analogy to that of a computer virus, hijacking Warden's control over biocom, which he later goes on to do.

#

Rather than being meant to be taken literally, as NAM-V

burnt wren
#

Of course, that's a stretch

#

To me it's just a very raw line of defilement

#

He just wanted a cool comeback

#

But it does bothers me that he ignored the obvious warning

#

Like come on

eternal talon
#

"I'm not taking orders anymore, I'm giving them"

#

He says a lot of these ultimately meaningless one-liners.

#

With what he says you'd assume the effects on the story and game as a whole would be drastic, but honestly we are still doing the same things we have always done

#

It's also an interesting thought that maybe warden started whatever caused ALT// to undo schaeffer tapping into biocom as a sort of "fuck you"

#

Since it essentially reverted us way back before that happened.

burnt wren
#

That's ... Huh...

#

I mean there's a million of membranes

eternal talon
#

Just a thought. It is a massive coincidence that alt happens immediately after schaeffer finally gets what he wants

burnt wren
#

But it would be very funny if Warden decided to tap into other realities just trying to sidestep Schaeffer's intervention

eternal talon
#

Which just throws more questions at r8. They can't possibly answer everything.

burnt wren
#

But that doesn't explain something Schaeffer himself says: "Theyre clearing a path in my direction, but I don't think they are after me. Warden wants KDS DEEP."

eternal talon
#

The ending of GTFO is almost guaranteed to be dissapointing at this point.

burnt wren
#

Also if this was truly the case Warden should just stop KSO'ing him in every reality

The average player, as is quite obvious, doesn't know shit about the story of gtfo

#

Even with our community resources here, we are a very small minority

#

Despite being a significant part of what 10cc spends their time working on

#

You know the community reaction to the forced audio in r6

#

They hated that lore was being "shoved down their throats"

#

They didn't give a shit before

#

It was great for us, yes.

#

But they didn't care. It's a fundamental split on priorities

#

They don't play the game for the story, yet 10cc focuses heavily on it

#

You get what I'm saying?

#

They are trying to do too much at once

#

They need a sequel from the ground up, designed for a more compelling DIRECT story. Not just background newsclippings about people that are long, long dead.

Think this: playing as a miner in a survival horror style game in the mines, DURING the lockdown. There are other people still alive that haven't died to the virus yet, and Kovac squads are a constant threat looking to kill anybody alive

I think the NATO team could be an interesting pov

#

Their misadventures are like by the book horror movies

Only if the game isn't entirely in garganta, and has surface levels. Otherwise, it could easily fall into the same trap of repeating levels over and over

#

Imo, procedurally generated levels was a mistake

burnt wren
#

Most certainly. Warframe has this issue too, but the way that game is played no one cares

Is the warden an AI or a person?

eternal talon
#

You can't have a story when the plot takes you to the same 5 rooms every level. There is no journey

burnt wren
#

Most certainly an AI

Well... Actually...

#

There's a small possibility it could be something else

#

Maybe even an eldrich god

Still no toilets though

Eh, they can get away with that given the nature of warframes, which I won't spoil here.

#

And kiddos basically permanently live in the chair at the back of the orbiter

Not anymore they don't

@burnt wren old intro was like “succeed or die”

#

Would hope that they atleast say something like “Prisoners/KSOs deployment initiated”

#

And then based on is it a return or a forwarding extraction scan

#

“HSUs redeployed for extraction awaiting Prisoners/KSOs”
