Technically speaking, everyone involved is still alive, if not Human anymore.
isn't that what zombies are
The virus keeps the parasite and its host alive indefinitely so that it does not starve itself to death when it runs out of food.
No, zombies are corpses that are reanimated, sleepers never died once. The parasite can't convert the corpses of people killed by nam-v, only those currently infected by it. That is why there are partially converted corpses all over the complex.
technically zombies are whatever the fuck they are
after so much time theres so many iterations, cannot pin down what exactly a zombie is
unless going with the classic undead
Until mutations are complete, it is quite possible a human infected by the parasite would be able to feel and sense its surroundings as the parasite controlled its body like a meat puppet.
zombies by definition do have to be dead and brought back to life, but plenty of interpretations have them just transform from alive humans to being infected zombies
so sleepers fit into zombies in my book B)
thank you for your input
you're welcome brother
Maybe, but to the common majority they do not consider B, so it would be incorrect and give the wrong impression.
Which begs the question, as shooters do not clearly display the removal of the brain, is it possibly to any extent that the human previously infected has still been conscious and suffering immense pain for almost a decade since infection?
(Not that being a striker and feeling your skull torn apart by its own muscles wouldn't be immense pain, but at least it would end after that.)
This comment just gave me an absolutely horrifying thought.
The two heads on the mothers and Pmother are still fully intact..
I have never really been able to get a good look at the mother. Is there someplace that have good photos of them.
The wiki i think, if not @harsh saffron always does.
He's got pictures of everything. He works on the wiki
if not, a few levels this rundown has them, d1, d2, and e1 off the top of my head.
also c2 secondary
the immense pain of giving birth to 30 big headed children at once
repeatedly, for...~9 years
unable to die because of the parasite.
the strikers and striker variants probably have it the easiest, because their head is split asunder, and then it is over for them.
nah
Their brains have probably been completely changed and are unable to have higher thought processes
Did not realize the birthers had 2 heads
and more than 4 limbs
Only saw the one faintly visible through the skin layer thingy
@eternal talon did you see what happens to specimen 23 during the end of D1?
3d print big man from baby?
Like they grow it in real time to being the size of an adult but still retaining the proportions of a baby
oh yeah it's trippy
how did you think that Spec 22 got so big ? from R3
WardenmagicTM
It was called neonate back then, not specimen 22?
plus years pass between rundowns I last thought
Doesnt the hsu for the neonate say their number
it is called neonate now as well
Yes but also called Specimen 23. Specimen 22 was only called that in R6
not that many but meaby @eternal talon can confirm
it might not have been 22 specifically but it was one of them
fair
still neonate, GLP (growth hormone) it makes sense
yeah I just meant as in "yeah we grow a baby for pretty much the same reason", might have been 16 or idk
yeah, the last log mentions growth in a timeframe of 60 days, not a matter of minutes like in D1
and just as spec 22 gets killed, we grab another baby and use GLP-2 on it (meaby better hormones? )
Maybe the osip ones from c2?
yeah we use a lot more hormones on the new one
and a newer version apparently
B2 secondary GLP, C1 GLP-2, C2 overload OSIP
but only C1 is direct story, main objective
the others are still canon
I'd say the neonate from R3 was definitely not s22. Given that we know other units were killed before (Schaeffer describing one being killed by sleepers, another iteration is able to stay undected). I'd assume s22 was doing well until he had a run in with our loveable rat-man, Schaeffer.
ik
but the GLP-2 are more directly tied to the story
s22 was sort of successful, it was able to trigger a scout iirc tho (intentionally ?) but it looked very weak, I think what the Warden is trying to achieve is to make it have a properly developped brain
The shortened growth from 60 days to mere minutes has me thinking that they have also built an environment for 23 to develop it's instinct as was discussed
Yeah, but they would still have been collected before D1
we also grab GLP in R5B2, there is no neonate in that rundown
That is true, although that too may have been a failed iteration. I think the idea is that Schaeffer was encountering multiple units, each (mostly) a different itteration, instead of it being the same entity in all logs.
Isnt there glp in r5A1 extreme too?
no those are plants (warden needs his weed)
Ah
for other team i'd say, since there were alternative teams working on different objectives, such as other specimens
To note, the Warden notes in DX that it wishes to enhance its "unit masking". I'm fairly certain it wants to make something "invisible" to the sleepers.
that's interesting, i'd have to re-listen to them, but they seem to have a continuity with the same one
all such canisters and glp things are for the neonates
could be, could be the same for the ones in R7B2. What I'm saying is that only the GLP-2 from C1 are directly tied to spec 23
even the ones not made yet
Cause Schaeffer is first scared and then understand and goes to kill it, as if it was still the same entity
what if it also tries to mask from other things, such as humans
Masking it from humans
agreed
Hm
yeeey super shadows
shadow deluxe?
See it like this: warden is loosing the best group, warden needs something that goes down the complex and can operate around sleepers, and probably around the prisonners that turns against him too
That could be, but I'd say it's easier with sleepers as, as far as we know, they are blind. Although they use hearing as a replacement, that can probably only go so far.
movement too
Sound is a wave
and movement, you could say it displaces air which is a different form of wave
light is a wave too, the answer is all about waves
I know, what I mean is that masking a unit to humans would probably be alot more difficult, and far less valuable unless the warden begins to see mankind in general as a threat.
Which to be fair, I'd understand if it begins to see rebelling prisoners as a threat.
Oh God a million messages. Hold on

It gets put into like a weird vertical lift thing and we leave it there, so we don't know where the wrdn takes it
yeah but have you seen inside ?
thermal scope
nah bro it GROWS
Did you not see it grow into a full grown person?
R2-R3 is not specimen 22. We know this as fact. It's been almost a year but u22 was created 72 hours before Schaeffer kills it. In r2-r3 we create u21
3 days. Not THAT fast
no we mean visually speaking, in R7D1
Brother, go back to d1 and watch the neonate in the pod. It grows in atleast 10 - 30 seconds.
in the growth chamber
guess GLP-2 is better :p
They are still called neonates, always have been. Neonates is just the simple term for them and their HSUs.
Depends. Since r3 it has been about a year in total. 2063-2064. We do not know when exactly in 2064 we currently are.
ok but not years like he was saying
2056 to 2057 I believe
Since even insight, they had issues with them having the mental capacity of children.
yeah I remember reading about that
By 2059 according to state of truth calculations
Rip
Wtf??? Vid pls? I can't run d1 because of technical issues, but there is no fucking way canonically speaking unless the wrdn has this one JUICED
Fam,it straight up speed runs growth
Aww I would've loved to go there with you
Under 20 ish seconds you've got a whole ass adult body
I can always go for a D1 lobby and get a little recording
Yea, the glass is foggy but you can clearly see the body grow
Dm it to me whenever
Thermals makes it very clear (I have low graphics so I don't really see through the glass)
Will do !
I dm'd him
Wtf is in GLP-2...
The rate of growth being so rapid could explain the deformaties of the units Schaef describes, and the ones we see on S22.
Seconds is practically defying the laws of... everything
it is way better than GLP apparently
Days to seconds is THOUSANDS of percent more efficient
oh yeah btw our baby looks FAT compared to the skinny specimens
chubby and all, I'm wondering if it'll look deformed like that or it'll just be actual Chad
I got screenshots of it yesterday
True, but it may not be stable. S22 had some nasty deformities and looked, for lack of a better term, undercooked.
he is watching the vid
I was literally in awe of it yesterday
What vid
I remember on my first successful d1 run I didn't wana leave incase something else happened lol. It was a shock to see.
check your DMS
like Frosty
What in the fucking bush's baked beans is this
its insane
Also dick pic
Also, and this may jsut be a design choice, the machine looks like the anatomy of, and is refered to in the files as, a womb.
I was literally there
the pants grows with it
ITs just the change from pants to skin makes it look weird 7
What in the fuck could possibly be in glp_2 to make this remotely possible
A shit tonne of protein and glucose
was this the first instance of GLP-2 ever ?
Isn't this breaking... several.. laws?
yes :)
Not legal, of reality.
yes :)
Hulk super stretch pants*
Your cells have to undergo specific checkpoint events of growth before dividing, failure to be highly accurate results in the cells growing too slow and dying due to shrinkage, or dying due to growing too large before cytokinesis, or senescing due to checkpoint breaches, or just straight up being unable to check for chromosomal errors resulting in genomic instability resulting in cancers and such.
this is magic :)
~~ALLENS~~
yes
two decades of growth thrown into 30 seconds might result in cancer realistically..
It could be assumed that artifacts, or a process affected by them, factors into this. Maybe not an artifact directly but a product that was made as a result of the programs that researched them. We know Kovak had an iron grip on info.
fun fact, its more likely the cells just straight up die than become cancerous
And because 23 maintains the same proportions during growth, it means that several key developmental stages were skipped over growth
Even if we assume the growth is using alpha planets time fuckery, that's still only ~45 minutes from neonate to adult.
So I'd assume not so
You all looking forward to competing against 23 and the army of baby looking prisoners
Temporary name for the hyper advanced ancient aliens that made the mwp, artifacts, and sent the meteor to earth
I see,thank you
LUM-3SS-6ZN.LOG talks about how they were aiming for 60 days as a realistic goal. So there exists the possibility that there is still time left to mature
Fun thing is, this isn't Kovac. The rise project was done by team insight under dreyfus.
It would have to be on destination to do that, we wouldn't be able to watch it grow from here on earth even if the contents of the pod was in destination's world line
Didnt kovac have something similar to rise
Rise is Kovac. Multiple logs depict Andre Piros and Anders Johanson as having control/administrative roles in RISE.
inb4 the baby is also feed something that makes it capable of going through the matter waves and actually live 85x faster will still displaying in our dimensions
Rise is the knock-off
Was thinking of this
They worked with team insight on it yes, but it wasn't made under their company. They worked on it with insight down in garganta.
the ultimate specimen: invisible to sleepers, capable of teleportation and changing dimensions
Remember, Kovac was basically the government down there after it got made into an exclusion zone
Owai wa mou shindeiru time
why is this game difficult to play solo?
Using the sledgehammer 85x faster than us.
They're unstoppable
It was made with 4 players in mind and there is zero balance changes to support solo play.
Even with bots you can only get so far.
While that could be, this log specifically suggests RISE was kept secretive in some capacity, and Lockwood was actively kept in the dark.
You might want to look in pubs here to have someone teach you.. a1 shouldn't take more than 20 minutes at most.
Lockwood was SMC, wasn't he?
when i played 1 year ago
did you take bots?
Yes. As rundowns come out, the previous ones were deleted forever. That is, until recently.
Even without bots the level isnt too difficult
I got it down to 8 mins 30 secs
hella speedy
nooo i loved playing them
My solo only took 45 minutes and I went to burger King for half of it.
Kek
He was head of Inisght, and took over Andrew Clinton's position after he was obliterated in the October 13th blast.
Took 18 mins for me iirc
they'll be coming back do't worry
Well you got it done
yeah
That's all that matters
LOOORRREEEEEEEE

but was the game supposed to be scary?
Hm
Sometimes?
Well then I can't quite say other than maybe he was kept out of the loop after he transfered to SMC. This is the information we have
Yes
Used to be, very.
I miss the old lighting engine where everything was pitch black and quiet.
LOOOOOOOOOOOREE
Had an instance where for some reason we had no biotracker.made too much noise thinking the room was empty, only to see 20 sleepers glowing red in the pitch black
While that may be the case, my point is that Kovak was heading Rise.
on C1 yes
C1 was really nice
I do miss the horror bits sometimes
Kovac also had a gun to the head of everyone down there. I'm not arguing with you, I'm just saying it'd be strange for them not to.
super buggy with checkpoints unforunately
Shit got tense real fast when nam-v got out.
yeah that's something else
Can you reword? I'm not sure what you are trying to say.
IN THE PINNNNS
yes, 1 sec
the teams face when a forced adoption is made in front of everyone though

Checkpoints bugs will no longer be considered bugs
But features
How dare you use the funny green circle door
lmao
how dare you reset to the checkpoint and not restart the entire thing as the wrdn intended
It's especially fun when it happens in c2
Lmao
You shouldn't be holding cells while doing the checkpoints as the cells are inwards bound while the checkpoints are outwards bound
I wasnt even holding cells
I respawned holding one for some reason
oooooooof
rip
kovac had the entire site on lockdown and shot anyone who didn't comply.

(i cant find the log, but insert the log of the mexican government declaring martial law here)
it would be strange for kovac to not be aware of every little detail of things going down in garganta. if insight has a project, Kovac would know about them. and in this case, with it being so close to what legion was already doing, it'd make sense for them to involve themselves with it.

it looks like it was a project worked on by both companies, yes, but it was headed by Insight. proof of this is easily shown in the chambers and devices themselves, that have insight and dreyfus branding on them.
Kovac has nothing to do with dreyfus, they don't own them. Insight is a subsidiary of Dreyfus and all their stuff is branded as such.
Nyxos is a manufacturer, dreyfus isn't.
this is proof of them working together on it, but also them saying its going to their "private vault", not the standard Legion/Kovac stuff down in KDS-Deep

Ok, now I get what you mean. While it is clear both companies experimented on neonates, it's clear that Kovac wanted to keep the rise project hidden from public knowledge, especially from lockwood. It makes no sense for Kovac to keep Lockwood from knowing about rise if he was part of it. Kovac is very clearly the head of Rise.
ehh, the objects themselves would say otherwise.
again, dreyfus branding
i'm only talking who is officially at the helm.
this log also suggests secrecy
bottom line, specifically
Although unclear who made the statement, its clear lockwood was kept in the dark
here is one of the doctors working on legion talking about rise and their work on it. https://www.notion.so/ab68b94496bd4b27bec291de65ebd510?v=9c98784771d740f3b605ff63763b4963&p=bd87743403c54cd3a931792bbf13480e&pm=s

I get the branding, but Kovak also had a deal with Dreyfus. Subsidiary or not, insight has little say in what their parent company does.
Also, the log presented is between two individuals working for Kovak specifically
true their initial deal was with dreyfus, but that was before anyone other than SMC was on the table.
smc has the shortest stick here, just sorting "being there" and digging while the important stuff is done by kovac and insight.
i dunno. it'd be weird for kovac to just run two completely separate private army programs simultaneously for no good reason.

Mr. Johanson,
With regards to the psychological matching of our operatives, we have found that each designation has a tendency to take a specific role within the quad. Genesis often establish themselves ...
This log suggests Rise as a follow up of some sorts to LEIGON.
A successor, next step, etc.
potentially, still, dreyfus and insight markings have me questioning it.
This doesn't guarantee the bug doesnt happen. And also this is lore channel

should 7.5 or 8 come out with more information or a concrete answer on the topic, i'll be happy to update the "for dummies" with it.
good talk.
I'm waiting for baby to become a weapon to surpass metal gear
we had quite a bit of off-topic earlier.
channel was a mess of activity for a bit.
I do understand that, but I'm fairly certain the only device marked with an insight logo was the MWP, was it not?
And oof
technically speaking, i believe so. though it's been too long since i've had a good look at the other hammerstein collection artifacts.
stickler is the dreyfus, since they sorta dont really ever do anything at all in garganta, they aren't even there. only their two subsidiaries
and.. well, smc isn't the kind to manufacture those parts,
and most already have the nyxos' label on them.
also, might i just add, the whole thing with nyxos is very strange.
they aren't related to ANY of the three main companies
yet they are just sorta.. there. building and shipping custom parts for dreyfus and kovac
stuff you'd be certain would be top secrete
they send to a 3rd party manufacturer
i mean, fuck, some of their shit is on destination afik!
yeah
This isnt entirely true. Dreyfus, while not working directly in Garganta, fund their subsidiaries and supplies their subsids such as insight with supplies. I think its fair to assume Dreyfus was supplying Kovak in a simmilar manner to how they were for Insight. While Kovak is not a subsid, they are a partner, and a valueable one to Dreyfus. Dreyfus would absolutely supply Kovak with what they needed or wanted.
As I understand, Nyxos is another partner, like Kovak but less sinister. Unlike other suppliers, Nyxos seems to care less about what their supplies are used for, good or bad.
I dunno. Maybe I'm wrong
While it mainly has shown that Nyxos supplied mining supplies, it is shown in two logs that they have some hand in the creation/production of neonate hsus. A strange outlier.
Their branding isn't on the neonatal units. Strange Indeed.
Also, I'm sorry, what?
15,000 neonatal units?
How many were they planning on making before they abandoned the project?
This is the log prior to the one dated April 20th, 2063. I believe this was the Warden preparing a list of supplies for its goals.
I assume thats what R4 to R5 was, major supply runs.
Lots of those expeditions talked of requiring materials such as those for a next phase. Said phase might have started, or been related to, our actions in R7.
apologies, I forgot the other half of that first log
here is the second log:
This log brings up something thats still unclear. The Warden is attempting to create something related to the units
I love the init_rise(*.g, *.t, *.f, *.o) line
Using the "Current" method, it would take ~311 days until the Warden got what it wanted. Using "RISE" method, it would take ~13 days
This also might be a nod to legion designations, although that would be odd given this is a rise-related sequence.
G - Genesis
T - Tau
F - Sigma (Woods is Sigma; F-2056; Odd for F to stand for Sigma)
O - (Unstated, possibly Omega)
In the middle of r3. Date lines up with wrdn twitter.
Omega would be my best guess.
Ah, didnt think o that
Omega makes sens
But as you said it doesn't sound related
I think the line is just meant as a bit of fun to poke with the name of the game
it's like a mix of Logs and Code
the star is a wildcard of everything that ends in .g(.t.f.o) but it's not in a string literal, so in 99.9% of programming language, this does not make sense for the interpreter/compiler
Headed off to classes for now, good talk.
F is for failures
O is for sigma I think
Given that woods was stated to be Sigma gen, and is designated F-2056, I'm fairly certain that F is Sigma. Sigma gens also tend to take leadership roles, and given that woods is characterized as a leader, it lines up.
He was designated faulty afterwards and given new designation letter F
he was orignially sigma
when?
gimme a min
we went over this a while back
Can you send photos of the self-harm you indicated with 0-2056?
Can you send me a list of the operatives you marked as faulty
56HF2.LOG
doesn't that log also say it sends faulty KSOs to recycling?
exactly
he was spared
and woods isn't in a woodchipper
because they were being reprocessed
Basically they noticed some F operatives were taking command roles or something
and wanted to repurpose them
It's directly stated Sigma Gen specifically are those operatives.
I've got to head out for now, but I'll check back later on.
I’m worried if we don’t solve this issue we may end up with a failure cascade. These HSUs are all F/Infected classification so I guess it wouldn’t be the end of the world if we lost the meat, but the freezers may come in handy someday - or at least we may end up needing them as Deep backups or organ donations etc.
Something I was reading earlier, seems to be mildly relevant here.
oh! log?
can do. it's talking about the warden purging infected ksos while still in stasis
just posted art in #gtfo-media
F for Fucked.
G - genesis
T - Tau
F - Infected (fucked)
O - sigma
I had the same thought
maybe it is faulty, but they mean infected
lower case Sigma is an o btw
still it makes less sense
not an E
Would that mean Hackett is a sigma with his prisoner ID being O-4711?
Bishop also has an O in his ID I always thought it stand for Operative butttttt
GO-1395 can he be genesis and sigma? can there be two sigmas in one group?
BISHOP, FRANK GO-1395
HACKETT, AIDEN O-4711
WOODS, ISAIAH F-2056
DAUDA, ABEO T-3701
bishop is both genesis and sigma
hackett is sigma
woods is sigma, again, for some reason
dauda is tau
Poor Dauda is the only non sigma then </3
dauda isn't normal
Was it ever explained what a Tau does? I don't really remember
he wasn't a part of the legion program
Ik that
We never gotten Schaeffers prisoner ID right? Only his clearance number?
he is a pit boss
he works for santonian
basically middle-management
also what do you mean "prisoner ID"?
you mean personnel id?
there are no canonical prisoners
schaeffer talks about it in relation to us being slaves to the wrdn, but we aren't "prisoners"
its not an official term

Oh

As far as we know he doesn't have access to guns, or didn't. He worked for smc. He was just a simple middle manager, not a soldier or security guard.
ok how did he solo r5e1 with a burst canon OUT OF RUNDOWN
Oh wait duh that makes sense sorry I like blank sometimes on some lore stuff considering how convoluted it gets
He didn't. He caused the lock down that we have to go in and fix.
why
Because sleepers were following him and didn't want to die?
Same reason dauda fled and got cornered
He's not a soldier
Your fine
do you think he used a hanaway TR 22
I think you are trolling.
And no, he didnt.

At that time he was crawling through vents all alone and afraid, he had nothing
what about klaus
Klaus is a kso, so he would have training. Though given Schaeffer woke him up, I doubt he'd have weapons on-hand unless he found one to use between then and now.
like hackett
Hackett is also a kso, but he drops with us. WRDN keeps us supplied with arms and ammo when we need them.
No
Schaeffer did it too
Oh
If you are new to gtfo lore, I highly recommend reading the "for dummies" doc in the pins.
It explains the majority of the lore
why did you call me a dummy
I did not. The title is a joke of a popular how-to book series
oh I see I did not know I am from hong kong
For Dummies is an extensive series of instructional/reference books which are intended to present non-intimidating guides for readers new to the various topics covered. The series has been a worldwide success with editions in numerous languages.
The books are an example of a media franchise, consistently sporting a distinctive cover—usually yel...
It is the first pin in this channel
but that would make me a dummy

I am now confident you are just trolling.
oh
So I'm going to stop replying.

@livid grotto do the zombies starve to death if they don't eat brains?
Why not?
They might find it annoying?

They told you not to talk to them last time.
But I need to know if the zombies starve to death
RyK owned...
oh no
Please leave him alone
wanna be friends?
This channel is a circus
kill the zombies together
what
🧐
let me read
If I afk after I drop down into the complex can they starve to death???
Stop. Please
frostty
Does what work
I know it's futile, but this is the only channel I frequent damnit.
if the zombies starve?
yeah all good, ryk is one of those GTFO veterans who HATE the lore
go to #gtfo-chat or something
Ok sorry dad
anyways, frostty I suppose you heard the recent news about the GTFO team slowly moving out
This game has been doubling its lore content every rundown.
to make an another game, do you think they will finish the lore?
Yeah, apparently all old rundowns are coming back.
or there's still too much stuff to uncover
With an in-lore twist as to why.
As for them finishing everything, they will almost certainly try,
let's hope so
Time to embrace PTSD
But I feel it will still have some loose ends.
I dont look forward to r2 and r4
R2 wasn't that bad, it was just really difficult when it first came out. It has really good environmental storytelling
R3 especially, though I never finished it.
Honestly r2e1 feels almost identical to r7a1. Not even joking
Are you for real?
From what I remember, its basically the same concept.
#gtfo-chat please, this is not lore.....
Anyway,
As for the returning rundown thing, they will try almost certainly but I don't think it will cover all bases.
I don't think rushing it will let it come anywhere close to a satisfying ending.
Which leaves the possibility for them doing an open ending.
Which... would not be good for the lore, if good sequel bait.
@eternal talon If you're interested I put the for Dummies text into a google doc, added some indents and gave it the source code pro font.
not a huge fan of open endings, especially for video games
No thanks, I use .txt for a reason. I don't have good access to internet where I live so I like having stuff offline
Was the same case for Dragons Dogma, and that game's lore was fucking fantastic. Can only wait and see.
No point in worrying about it now I suppose.
dragons Dogma good game
dogma nuts
You can stop joking around now RyK.
I'm not joking
This is actually making me shake reading "dogma nuts" in the lore channel
I've already @ed the mods, they're probably still here.
Do you guys ever suggest additions to the lore?
We do not have contact with the devs for that, no.
We do occasionally ask the community manager for clarification but we do not have any input into the lore of the game.
With the amount of loose ends and unexplained stuff that are still connected to the lore it will probably be hard to not leave some things open though
Indeed.
I'm excited to dive into this stuff
RyK? Rick? @gentle minnow
Every rundown increasing the total.
Are the logs pinned too?
No, they are archived on the wiki and the notion.so
The notion.so is in timeline format
The wiki has them sorted exclusively by rundown and has text versions of the audio logs
Yes.
How far in the game should I be before checking out the timeline vid and the logs?
Duck's timeline vid is up to date currently but doesn't include everything.
The logs you can view anytime as the overwhelming majority are before the events of the game in 2064.
Cool
You could easily read all of the logs and the for dummies before even launching a1 without spoiling yourself.
Most of it is just background material.
In fact, it may help understand some things that DO happen during gameplay
Would I be missing much since I missed the previous rundown missions?
In terms of lore during game events? Eeehhh
A bit
Mostly in regards to r5e1 onwards
But most of those would be easy to have someone explain to you once you know the background material
I'll start reading now. Thanks.
devs promised to reimplement old lore at some point, somehow
Maybe they should do a video series or something
Indeed, though they technically already do externally on the SMC website.
external lore bad
Depends. The email thing they did was fun.
What was that?
And I really loved the coordinate hunt during r6.5
They emailed all GTFO ambassadors an exclusive log detailing Schaeffer's application to work at SMC
Is that log available on the wiki?
thx
Use link at the bottom for unredacted version
The link isn't showing
It's in the picture
I see now
A part of the scan
I'll type it out
Yep
never seen that application before
exactly why external lore is cringe...
but it is an interesting read
If you signed up for the ambassadors you would've
Everyone got emailed it
EVERYONE
I must have made a mistake typing it at some point but I got an error 404
I copied the link tho
I know others also had that issue
Let me see if I can find anything using the search function
I think the notion has the unredacted version if you need
easier than typing it out
Nice!
thanks
What's up
I'm not answering that.
i'm a bit of connoisseur
NO
would you like to see more?
So I read the lore for dummies doc, and I'm confused about the current situation on earth. To what extent are people alive on earth? Are only living people the ones in complex? Is the kovac industry and other companies still functioning with some employees still working for them? Or is the 4 players and the two guys the only living people?
According to TSOT calculations, all of humanity would be dead by the year 2059. It is currently the year 2064.
It is best assumed at current that there is no more than 100k humans left on earth, ~32k of which are us KSOs down in the complex.
(Not taking into account any dead KSOs)
We have no evidence to suggest Kovac, Dreyfus, Smc, or any major company, government, or organization is still alive on the surface other than the remnants of the World Heath Organization that planned an expedition to the source of the virus (Garganta) but as far as we know they were never heard from again as the transmission is still looping when we find it on a terminal.
So for them either they died off before they could conduct the expedition, they did and sleepers killed them, they did and we haven't heard anything else about it or seen any of the side-effects of them breaking down here through the sealed doors.
You see, when biocom went rogue and was taken over by the WRDN, ALL zones and bulkheads were sealed tight.
Nobody in, or out.
Since only the virus made it to the surface, that means sleepers are an exclusive problem down here with us.
If the WHO made it down here.. well let's just say be glad we have the world's population of corpses and not sleepers.
@vivid current
Oh I see. I didn't realize that there were so many people in the complex. Pretty much all of the 32K KSO are in hydrostasis, right?
Also, why doesnt people outside turn into sleepers? I thought parasite-virus got released into public?
Only the virus got out, if I understood correctly what Frostty mentionned earlier
The parasite is required to keep hosts of the virus alive
Huh. How does parasites spread, and do we know what they look like?
we do not know how the parasite specifically looks or spreads
we know far less about it than we do the virus.
yes, according to the new r7e1 log. i will post. 1 second.
Interesting. So are the sleepers we see in game supposed to be former humans mutated by parasite+virus, or are they aliens?
*former aliens
Or is it a mix?
the ones we see in-game are entirely humans
we haven't met a sleeperized-allen, but they are described in logs.
edgar encounters one
aside from the floaters and kraken on destination
these aren't human.
they are infected alien lifeforms from destination that came to earth in r6b1 when they followed us through our tether.
there's also a possibility they could be some form of an original carrier
but its a small one
kraken is the giant thing from R6 with pimple we had to pop, right?
yeah thats the one
that is a giant infected.. cephalopod of some kind
Did Biocom go rogue before warden was installed or was the reason Biocom seemed to go rogue because warden was installed
do we know who could have done it or why it was done?
we do not know who installed it or why.
we also do not know what it's motives are.
we do know what it is though
it is a decision AI
Also, why do we keep on going to Destination? Is it only because Warden orders us to, or do we as a group have some reason?
i guess they had decades of genome studies and results saved over there (time wtfery), pieces of wrdn puzzle or sth
mostly warden, sometimes we get sent there randomly
we REALLY don't have any fucking agency at the moment
we just barely gained it during D2
wdym? we have a agency now?
up until now we were KSOs
we just follow warden's orders, simple as
no dreams, no goals
chip in the neck
ehh, it's still 50/50
Up until D2 schaeffer forces us to do his bidding by blocking our progress, and offering us a deal - you get me my shit, i open your door
in D2 schaeffer actually, directly asked us to ignore warden's objective stacks, in part of the complex where we are not supposed to be
and for some reasons we listened?
I have no fucking idea what happened. If you ask me - i'll say "bad writing".
we are in an "out of range" error
he could have dropped us into a zone that is out of range
like KDS-DEEP was before r5
realistically we should do what Bishop did during planetside expedition
which is be useless and keep saying that he "awaits his objective stacks"
What is schaeffer's goal? He seems to have succeeded in hijacking Warden, but does he know what is going on outside and understand all this stuff about virus, parasite, and Destination?
His goal is simply freedom at the moment
He believes warden to be his actual warden or something and he just wants out
I do not think he understand what's actually going on
Unit 22 tried to explain it to him in R6DX. Schaeffer didn't listen and caved in Unit's skull.
Me thinks he's kinda delusional at the moment.
RIP
I regret not playing R6DX over summer
He also doomed Hendrikson too when he woke him up.
At some point we'll have same conflict as was in that one movie... The Passengers?
seems like that had a lot of interesting lores
Hopefully we wont have to kill him or anything. Humans are endangered enough already.
i'm putting 5$ Hendrikson is going to kill him with his own hands eventually
Either that or NAM-V is going to get them
okay i'm back. sorry, was in the finale of c1.
I'm surprised that not everyone in complex got infected with NAM-V. We are in the place the virus came from, surrounded by virus-carrying parasites.
well...
thats not the reason
Maybe they'll reveal that we are already infected and its actually dormant or something
hmm?
that's literally it
we are infected, all of us
https://www.notion.so/Timeline-0e93a62e8cfd44b3a36beb4ab245a2d0?p=cca20197c3ab4a7291e4100247b7aa78&pm=s two idiots didn't follow quarantine

lol
thats why it got out
we have a log that claims that they found a way to remove the parasite
but virus stays
HSU just delays the inevitable
once you get nam-v, you stay isolated
or something along those lines
Every day both Shaff and Hendrikson spend in the complex - is one day towards their eventual demise
I think that's going to be a major plot point for the drama between the two
its weird though
Huh. The virus seems pretty slow to work then
schaeffer's been out and about down here for 2 years without hydrostasis
and he seems fine
Shaff is delusional, but Hendrikson is not. When he finds out that the are infected and that he's basically doomed to die - he'll have a couple of strong words to say to Shaff.
it kills in weeks
Yeah, what Frosty said is our major plot hole right now. It makes no fucking sense.
no, the major plot hole is the other one involving schaeffer.
The logs point that you have about 2-3 months from infection to guaranteed death.
the schaeffer discrepancy involving KDS-Deep
what is that?
schaeffer is out and about and breaks free of the wrdn in r4.
problem is, wrdn doesn't have access to KDS deep to go get him until r5.
Basically it's not understood how Warden got a hold of Shaff
It's like he just... Teleports around the complex.
how does he break free before the wrdn can even access his HSU?
oh that is weird
I've seen a video footage of devs claiming that "everything that you see is there for a reason"
But it really feels like a massive cope and them just saying "it just makes sense, trust me bro"
VENTS
thats the only answer we are given in his audio logs.
image of HSU crawling through a vent
yeah, just editr the entire HSU on that
GTFO canon lore, people
laughs hysterically
i swear, this shit will be an utter mess by R10
if we get to an r10
they are already making a new game and want to finish the story of gtfo.
About the "mental health decline" cited in the lore doc, is this caused by virus or do we have no idea what the cause is?
the virus.
Yeah its weird how 10 chambers already started working on new game after GTFO has been out for only about a year
game devs just do that sometimes, its normal
Warframe's Digital Extremes also recently had a split
A bunch of original devs split off and went to make a new game
as part of DE still, but you know
I'm worried that they will just go in maintenance mode on this game so soon
we'll see...
they promised that it should be fine, but you know... Corporate speak and all that.
do i win?
yep, perfect
hahahaha
not wrdn, biocom. it is two puppeteers controlling the same set of strings.
i think this was when i explicitly asked them about it on one of their Q/A livestreams
biocom has been fighting to free itself from wrdn to this very day. and now it has TWO entities controlling it. #feelsbadman
poor biocom
the only way I this story ends "well" is if biocom can be freed and instructed to make cure to virus or something like that
we'd have to find a cure first.
yeah I meant have it find cure
the units started as human, but i doubt you'd consider them still human given the extensive mutations
oh I dont mean curing sleepers. I mean curing all the humans in hydrostasis
wrdn purged a lot of them really early on.
sadly not many left, infected or not.
wrdn also killed a LOT of the remaining staff with the lockdown

this guy was locked in a zone with sleepers and eaten alive.
we can't say for certain how many KSOs are left down here.. but..
i wouldn't say that many.
thats ignoring WRDN sending them on suicide missions every rundown
when you click on a level in the rundown screen, the "last transmission" are the last words of squads the WRDN has sent before us that died.
WRDN is ruthless in it's efforts.. to do whatever it is desperately trying to do.
oof. it makes me wonder if wrdn might not actually be the bad guy
how so?
granted we have no idea what its goals are, but it's certainly not humane about it
killing hundreds of people in its missions, and even before that during the initial site lockdown
it killed and compromised every infected HSU, sealed off the entire site leaving people trapped to die below, sabotaged reactors and certain electrical systems,
its sent us on suicide missions several times, we just keep coming back alive.
Maybe it was uploaded into biocom to have the complex investigation be completed without kovac or other companies' interference by a dissenting group or something.
that is one of the popular origin theories.
but we dont know specifically when it was intalled
before, or after sleeper outbreak.
we only know a general range, and thats an estimate at best.
that's not saying there'd not be reason, kovac isn't the nicest of companies, and that's not out of the standard either. just about everyone down here is a killer.
hackett, killed his brother, mother, and an entire village of people. woods killed 12 at a military base and declared it divine retribution.
duada worked for shady people and did human testing with nam-v.
bishop, well he's the least bad of them but he got in because of corporate blackmail against the CEO of dreyfus.
they'd have certainly not let him walk.
Where do you find all this stuff
the logs.
Just across terminals and stuff
i read them all the time and im here practically all day every day.
no, some logs are exclusive to the santonian industries website
not everything is in-game
Oh
even during rundowns.
but a LOT of it is just researching every last sentence for hours on end.
Does timeline allow Warden to have been installed by WHO during their expedition, if it was successful?
one of the devs asked for a quick nerdy summary as a joke, this was the response i gave in only a couple minutes.
#social-feed message
i know way, way too much about GTFO lore. i'm probably the most active person in this channel
no.
the broadcast is at the very end of the timeline
before the 2063 log, it was the last.
ah okay

we simply do as the wrdn commands. we are slaves.
Does someone control the warden or is itpurely an ai or sumthin
we don't know
Oh boi
it is a DI, a decision intelligence injected into the BIOCOM network that forcefully took control.
we dont know if it gets its orders from someone/something else or if it is acting on its own
for all we know the allens could have injected it, we simply have no information.
if you aren't familiar with the lore, i highly recommend reading the "for dummies" doc in the pins, as it is a general summary of pre-apocalypse lore.

@livid grotto how does the mother feed her babies? does she have an udder like a cow?
Not again.. ffs
what are the Mayan Flea Demons?
It is a name given to nam-v and the parasite by the ancient Mayans to describe them and the sleepers they encountered during earthquakes.
Gtfo DLC-Mayan edition
How they would deal with a tank or a charger
God only knows
Is there any inlore explanation for why there are only 4 people per expedition
I know the crane can only seat 4 but cant it just go back up
And get more
I mean, IRL mayans went extinct due to unknown reasons (unless they solved that mystery in the last decade)
I think the game tries to imply that flea demons were responsible for that
It's just how Kovac set it up
We were made from the start to be in "quads" of 4
Because developers are unoriginal and cant come up with new idea, nor balance around them
higher than 4 would probably be too much
2 is too few
has any coop game tried 3? just for the sake of experiment?
Destiny
is it? i thought it was 4 as well
It's 3 for fireteams and 6 for raids.
Hunt: Showdown has 2/3 as loose game modes.
Not really coop if i remember
Literal wild west
you can coop, or you can shoot the guy in the head
yeah, haven't played it, just loose stuff on youtube
i can never tell who is on whose side
some people shoot each other, some dont
You literally drop in as a team.
You can see each other through walls from any distance.
And, obviously, if you TK you can get banned.
You can drop solo ofc, but there is no solo mode (for bounty hunt, anyway, which is the main gamemode people play for).
You will always face either duos or trios.
It's a battle royal, not a survival game lmfao.
Meaby not 3, but Arma allows for much larger groups than 4
Aliens: Fireteam Elite has 3 player teams
There we go.
it exists !!!!
I played D2 briefly never touching those games again.
Bungie has completely lost it.
D1 was far better. D2 is horrible with the removal of content and grindyness of it.
Nah I'm happy with Soulsborne, GTFO and total war warhammer.
SKAVEN SLAVES
Exactly
My goal is to repopulate the warhammer world with rats. To make it more immersive and close to reality
oh yeah breed those buff rats
^
Plot twist, all of this was a punishment simulation, everyone ingame is in a virtual world living the nightmare that is the endless rundowns the warden sends them on as their punishment for their crimes. The Warden is just selecting the current program each time you descend, and you cant die, you just reset
To live, suffer, and die over and over again. And if you do survive, you just start again, losing all your progress. But you are rewarded with different clothes each time. Shame you have to get bitten, poisoned by gas, etc each time you do another "run".
I find that very unlikely.
Reminds me of my theory that Killing Floor 2 characters are just the superior better ZEDs.
At least mine had evidence supporting it...
Some of the Information we have been given by the devs directly contradicts this. Most notably during our most recent chat over "meters vs miles" in relation to one of the logs. The devs outright said such a thing was a typo on their part. We also have coordinates for locations in our own universe that are far beyond earth
Were it to be a simulation, there would be many issues related to how information given by them previously has been conveyed.
Also "it was a dream" plotpoint is cringe and everyone hates them.
Unless they are used to retcon genuinely bad movies, but it haven't happened even once yet so.
Agreed, this trope is just lazy and sucks
If only the last season of GoT could be a dream 😔
Lore Wise, why are there no grenades in gtfo? Seems like the perfect solution to sleepers.
its not wise to use explosives in somewhat unstable cavern areas
the sound also attracts even more
Limited resources, cave systems are susceptible to collapsing, and Kovac's mission on site was defense, not warfare, so grenades shouldn't be required
cough cough mine deployer
Mine deployer is a repurposed mining tool
Ah so not land mine, but mining mine?
I'm not saying they were using mines for mining
Maybe there was no mine deployers initially and it just got built into one
I'm not a mining expert so I can't really tell
hmmm some people spend their time in the salt mines meaby they would know... Time to go ask steam discussions
the finest salt, sadly they're as incompetent as me
Worse even
Aww thank you
Found this huge pdf file about using mining explosives (with Australian regulations) from 2008, i'll take a quick read
https://www.resources.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0018/240354/qld-guidance-note-11.pdf
Actually we really shouldn't be using explosives around unstable underground facility filled with expensive and delicate tech all over the place. Realistically we shoudn't be allowed to bring mines to any reactors, yet we are.
Even devs aknowledge that mine deployer was a mistake, in more sense than one.
Oh right, reactors
Yes they still exist, even in R7
But why only 1 😭😭
tbh i'm not a fan of the reactor gimmick, but I know it's the bread and butter of high end level
Which level tier had a reactor at the lowest ? C ?
I find that they can be excellent
R3A3 had one 😂
Oh that's great I would love to see that
I'll go record one today or this weekend
But The good reactors are the kind where it's not just holding a bridge
Don't worry i'll just wait for content re-release, I'm patient
Anyway let's take this out of topic elsewhere

Your honour, I would like a warrant to search the computer belonging to discord name "Myresa". This individual has a long and suspicious internet search record focused around explosives, mining explosives, and if explosives would affect a reactor.
😉
R4E1 reactor
Isn't r7e1 also a reactor??
Yes the only one this rundown
Every rundown has had at least one
Reactors are super fun imho.
They should try doing an A1 reactor with diminished hordes. Maybe as a secondary.
nah make the secondary and overload objectives brutal.
I see no reason to make extra objectives balanced to base level, it's something meant for replayability
if they added challenge to A1 I'd probably play it more than once
but it's always a snoozefest
R3A3 was the earliest one. a very simpel and straightforward reactor
I see the reason. Would be unfair if new players went into it blindly and got immediately rekt by C-D tier objective. It would feel unfair. At worst they should be like B, tops.
at the same they were called extreme and overload difficulties, meaning they're meant to be hard. I could understand some balance changes since now it's called secondary but if a player isn't able to do a hard objective they shouldn't do it
r5A2PE 🤣 that was just a troll, it had to be
I feel like it was a good reflection of if a challenging objective is too hard, don't do it
yeah but for new players it was just .... a man so many people wiped on that
good
oh never said it was a bad thing. that was the way to learn
yeah, I feel like the gets too easy on beginners now
... Checkpoints?
no checkpoints in R5
Hence "was" the way to learn
but .. R5A2 was pretty short even PE
yes 😭
10 hour A1 PE lmao
R5A1 was pretty long ngl. it only had sec tho. but R5A2 was one of the shorter missions
@livid grotto can you explain to me how shadows can obscure light enough for them to cast a shadow on the ground, meaning that they are absorbing some of the photons, but if a shadow is standing in between you and a light source you don't see any dampening of light?
don't bother him with this nonsense
RyK is pretty new to the lore and is curious about how the shadows work
