AIOs are easy
They don't require much work at all, just follow a video as it's really easy
Customs are just more expensive and actually requires more maintenance
Do you use an AIO
I'm just trying to figure if I want to cause it might eventually leak
And I dont want it to leak on my components
I think an AIO leaking would be pretty rare, unless the AIO was damaged in some way
Which is also not that common
So a AIO should last a long time with out issue?
Yeah, should be like that
There is a Shadow Rock 3, performance was apparently like the Dark Rock Pro 4, which is like a top tier air cooler I guess
maybe a little wrong
But for 50$~ it's not bad I guess, 30$ less than a DRP4
I'm not so smart on the AIOs because I never actually looked and got one for myself
So just go to Gamers Nexus for reviews on these, they're going to have them most of the time
yeah good air coolers can do good when compared to AIOs
Shadow Rock 3, as I've said, pretty good
There's a Hyper 212 Evo which is dirt cheap but really great
I checked if it does well with 5800X, it should be able to if you're not gonna mess around with OC settings
It's pretty much a stock cooler in a way for Intel because intel gives crap coolers
But overall it's a great cooler unless you were to go for higher end coolers like a 5900X and higher
I know, I'm just saying Hyper 212 doesn't work well with an i9/R9 that well, and does alright with everything else
I might just go with it it looks ugly as hell
But apparently it gets the job done and is quiet
People were saying under stress tests it only went up to 65c and idle was 28
years ago AIO's were somewhat unreliable, they're perfectly fine now
NH-D15 is one of the top air coolers on the market, but make sure you have room for it in your case
There is an NH-D15s something, it's probably a smaller version
But I would expect same performance
the U14 is a single tower cooler i think
if i got the name right
there have been 212 competitors showing up everywhere and some are even better for the same price
arctic freezer 34
arctic makes great fans with similar performance to noctua's for a fraction of the price
or theres thermaltake's new fans which are carbon copies of noctuas design
Fuma 2 is a good air cooler if you're looking at something that can compete with 280mm aio's
D14 is a single D15 tower, D15S is a high-compatibility version. It shifts the cooler towers up to make room for a GPU in the top slot
gotcha
I think my pc is officially dead
I did an redeon update for my gpu and now the monitors can't detect any fucking input anymore
Awesome

Its not dead, probably just need to reinstall the driver
The thing is I have no screen
Not at all
I can't see shit
It just says no input detectet
can use dvi?
any Motherboard graphics output?
are you using it?
if the hdmi output on the gpu and motherboard dont work, it isnt a gpu issue
can you get into bios?
Uh
It's a driver issue
I did a update on my redeon
And then the monitors didn't work anymore
what card specifically?
Rx 580
Maybe you could use a second monitor? See if that works
if you cant get into bios or safe mode you are SOL
Sol?
shit outa luck.
maybe get a cheapo gpu off ebay for long enough to reinstall drivers?
The thing is and it's fucking stupid of me
I have a motherboard that does not support my cpu
what
Short I can't enter bios
what mobo/cpu
B550 supports 3-5000
I have 5 2600
It's definitely not supporting it
I still have a B450 steel legend around but I don't really wanna rebuild my whole pc
It took 2 days
About that I have no cash
Btw if it's a driver issue
I m gonna get my SSD cards to my workplace and just make a fresh win 10 on them
if you have a flash drive, you could try putting linux on it, booting into it and wiping the SSD.
I dont
I can't boot
The CPU ain't supportet
Boot menu won't open
Same as bios
Yes me dumb dumb
if the driver was installed on windows, just disconnect the SSD to default to the flash drive
oh.
I have no screen input
I can't see shit
Good that I am working with pc as my job
yeah. if the SSD with windows is disconnected, and you still cant get output, something else is wrong.
if you did a bios update on the card that may have broke something.
And then the stuff happend
Maybe
But how do I fix it?
I have no internal grafics chip
I can try the pc's at work
But well
Ugh it's gonna be hard to fix it
I don't think that I still have warrenty
Suffering
Does anything turn on when you turn the pc on? fans, lights, etc?
kekw
Yea I know I'm thinking of getting be quiet dark rock pro 4
I heard its pretty good
For a ryzen 7 5800x
Also yea I got the motherboard today it says its ryzen 5000x series ready on box they added the sticker to it after the box was made
So I should be good to put it in there i hope I turned off ping
Damn that's a good snake
Snake said fuck that one car in particular
silent rock 3 from bequiet!, it is said to be like DRP4
Just a recommend I know you probably remember but still worth checking out
Only complaint with DRP4 is the fucking springy ass shit you need to put fans on
Finger pain
Ehh ill figure it out when I need my fan for cpu im most likely going to go with drp4
Just cause it highly recommended
I would get NH-D15 but its huge im sure my case could fit it but I dont know about my ram tho
if you have like basic low profile ram, you're fine
On the DRP4 web page it says it can fit in a G.Skill Trident Z
So I dont know if they will fit
But ill try to make them
If they look like they can
If it won't work tho I won't force them
Vengeance RGB pro?
@fleet canopy yes
This is my whole build im going for i have the case and the motherboard so far
Except I forgot to change ram sticks they will be the 16 gb ones
There fixed it
Is a feature
Yes
It also has financing
there is usually a good reason not to buy from dell website
There is usually a good reason not to do anything related to Dell
@fleet canopy yea I looked on website it said there should be no ram problems with the motherboard i have
At least with the drp4
nah I just went to my brother's office and did beta testing
Yeah but it's not about the motherboard, it's about RAM clearance when it comes to some big kinda CPU coolers
The D15 cleared mine. But I've honestly been thinking of upgrading my RAM
My motherboard is an ASRock B450 a/c so I'm not sure if it's compatible with 16gb sticks
Just check how much RAM your motherboard can do
Most do at least 64GB
Smaller boards may only support just 64 or as low as 32GB
But it doesn't matter how much each RAM has, as long as you're not exceeding the motherboard's RAM limit
The only thing to really check with RAM and motherboards are soon whether it's DDR4 or DDR5, how much capacity there can be, and how many slots, whether you might think of having 4 sticks of RAM
Of course
Right underneath my D15
@fleet canopy what happens if I put it in the other one?
Pcie 16x for top, pcie 8x for lower
Basically a better bandwidth for PCie 16
afaik the 3090 almost reached max limit for pcie 16
But idk
Nah I'm shipping my 3070 to a friend of mine once I get a 3090
He's got a 1660 super right now so he could use it
I have a 2080 Super, but it's in a laptop.
It's probably the best laptop I could get before the 30 series came out, but it's still no custom-built PC
shit ill take it its better then my 2070 i want to get a 3080
I have a 2070 Super it's super
strapping 3 1030s and i get a 3090
Fuck, I should have known all along!!
Hmmm I shluld refund my 1tb ssd and just get 2tb ssd from amazon. Then get 500gb ssd for my friend
:)
Hm, what does this mean?
I cant use hdd if I got itx
if you have separate OS and game SSD's it can't be an issue
advantages to store uncut clips on your SSD so they show up in folder quicker for viewing, and copy into editing software faster
moving edited or cut down clips for longer storage into HDD sounds great tho
About Ethereum mining soon becoming obsolete
But some say another coin is coming up
So not sure how it'll be like, but it's possible to have a handful in stock for something better than most retail prices possibly
its still bad
1tb nvme went from 100% to 96% health in a couple of months
i know the thing with showing up saves faster but its not worth the level of degradation
ripped out my hdd from my laptop just for recordings
I think depending what you use it for, it depends
and the saves show up about a minute after so its fine
Depends on what depends, real nice I did there
nice
At least in my case I'd swap it out or put it into a backup system within 5 or 6 years. At this rate, would still have a decent amount of health left.
Replays are relatively small ~240MB for 2minutes
lol
Just browsing or streaming video caches it in your temp drive. That eats into it as well
Cardssssss
Quick, give me the AMD one
tbf i also had it recording desktop to capture stupid moments in discord
mats generally always smell
vrms are gonna have a hell of a time
Man I've got a 3070 and a noctua cooler. Now I can have double noctua
: )
Just slap an nhd15 on your 3070
so im looking to get started on GTFO and i dont know if my system hits the min, heres my specs;
it will run, if it's enough fps to enjoy - up to you to decide
steam offers under 2h playtime no questions asked refunds, so you're free to test around
unless you bought the game over 2 weeks ago, then it doesn't apply
Already got one
Cable management was because it was a prebuilt. I'm too lazy to make my own
Not sure if its just me but that picture isn't loading
Just curious, does anyone here play gtfo on a linux distro? If so, which one?
Ah now it loads
If you can avoid it don't use the pigtail cables, I think that's the term. If you have them use two separate 8 pins to the gpu
I didn't wire it and it's so tight I would have to redo the whole thing
My whole setup is a rats nest of cables behind a desk. But I'm not trying to impress anyone
alright thanks! and i havnt purchased it yet. i generally wait untill i know for sure i can
which one is more 'normal', GPU fans running all the time or GPU fans only running once they hit a certain temp. i.e 50c-55c
Certain temps
oh thank god
At some certain temps, it'll start 50%, and rise the hotter it gets
But that shouldn't get too hot unless you don't clean PC and/or don't have good airflow for GPU
no it'll kick on around 50-55 until low 40
Yeah, that's good
one more question
If it were going 100% all time, then there's a problem
Going 100% at start up is perfectly normal
I've been trying to look for a monitor upgrade that works with my pc. How does a G7 T1 sound for 3060?
AMD ryzen 5 3600 6-core
Well it's not gonna hit 240FPS for many games but that's fine ig
If you play stuff like CSGO or Siege (Siege has Vulkan, makes NVIDIA GPU PCs run game faster yes), that's pretty good
ez
that too
But nice graphics be like
Be sure about ordering a G7 though, it's a great monitor and all, but some people didn't like the curve that the monitor has
It's an unusual curve for a monitor that isn't a widescreen, like the G9
i heard its supposed to be curved to match the curvature of the human eye
or so linus says
ok i'll look for some other 1440p monitors with a less extreme curve
I have a M27Q, pretty good imo, nice price, 1440p, IPS, 170Hz all for 320$
You might be able to just use that saved money for a better CPU or GPU
Well, market for GPU is shitty
But you know, putting it towards other stuff yes
i'll 100% look into it
I don't really need over 120hz and $300 is much better than the $700 for the G7
With the 3060, getting the 170Hz won't be that difficult at all
yeah ik, only thing limiting me from the ultimate gaming experience now is my monitor. Which happens to actually be a 36in 60hz TV.
lol I started with a 1060 3GB and 7700K with a bigass shitty low res TV
Man did that fuck with my neck bad
Then I got a monitor that had slightly more pixels for free ish
From 1360x768 to 1600x900p
yeah if you're just on your desktop they shouldn't be running
unless its a bad gpu
I can confirm that, playing on such compromised setup of refresh rate and resolution is pure heaven
anyone know why the game turns the volume to max on my computer whenever I tab in?
Best mouse for FPS PLEASE?
Wireless. Once you play with one of those, you don't want to go back anymore
I recently bought my first ever gaming mouse, a Razor naga X ergonomic. It's been the worst mouse I have ever used in my history of only $10aud budget mice...
@spice grotto GO FOR PMW 3389
SENSOR
THATS THE BEST SENSOR FOR COMPI
all the manfuare with pmw 3389 sensor are very light mouse
59-100 gms
yes wireless
once u go wireless, u cant go back
logitechs are known for double clicking
cause micron 10m's
viper ultimates great
i use basilisk ultimate cause i prefer heavier mices
came from all the old g502 mices
glorious model o is wireless and i think model d is coming out with a wireless soon?
could also search up comparison videos, they are all informative
depends on your budget but I think the viper ultimate and the G pro wireless are considered to be best/lightest mice
My recommendation for wireless mouse is G903, the one that I am using right now.
Light and no delay
anyone have recommendations for a gaming keyboard
Why are you recommending him just straight up random mouses though
It might suck so bad if he's got a hand too big or too small for any of these
all ill say is switching to wireless was a nice change
but even then sometimes my mouse feels small
its all about finding something comfy for you
Yes
cuz: wireless > wired
eh, that's personal. Lightweight cables have gotten pretty good I've never noticed any drag on mine. As long as you don't keep it in tension
it's a small step to make sure your wire isn't hanging all the way down your table, just place most of it somewhere higher or use a bungie and cable drag is solved, you get to enjoy a cheaper mouse with 0 worries about charging
that's a neat gif
How can I tell if a motherboard is compatible with an APU? Specifically these: https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-5-5600g-ryzen-5-5000-g-series/p/N82E16819113683?item=N82E16819113683&source=region&nm_mc=knc-googleadwords-pc&cm_mmc=knc-googleadwords-pc-_-pla-_-processors+-+desktops-_-N82E16819113683&gclid=CjwKCAjw092IBhAwEiwAxR1lRppMDwNzKcK7OI53beC-yx3oqu46o7s3uYntzDf9o40hEaZ-v6UgaBoCru8QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
just google the motherboard and find the manufacturer website, those tend to have support lists
e. x.
Thanks!
pc boots and is fine but just out of the blue randomly, not doing anything, it will just freeze, but this time my display has stayed on since i reseated ram, it doesnt shutoff, so i just cut power since its frozen and boot it back up fine, and it like doesnt happen the rest of the day
which i just reseated it blew some air in it n stuff
I used to use bluetak as a bungee but now I have a bungee built into my screen and it's awsome. I'm very reluctant to look at wireless
Wireless is worth
Question: Is a lightly used AMX PSU from 2007 usable?
In a new build? Highly unlikely.
Fun to fuck around with using a breakout board? Maybe.
The caps on that psu must have a ton of leaks lol
caps gonna pop like firecrackers
Just use a more recent and new PSU
that unit is old enough to be a risk to all of your components, wouldn't feel comfortable using it
hey uh....can you dont?
To those customers I sold the psu to because they are mean and want to cheap out on psu for an expensive gpu
:))
Is 450w enough for a r7 2700x and a 1660 super ?
Take a look at https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ and enter in all your PC specs. It should let you know what kind of power supply you need.
Oh thx
NP. Also just speculation but I don't think 450w would be enough
Oh
Never underpower the psu
What is a post screen?
Accurate
Hi, i looking for best motherboard for ryzen 5 3600. Does somebody have experience with ryzen 5 3600? and what config do you use with this cpu? thank you)
i have the ryzen 5 3600x with a 3070
i think b450/550 or x570 could be good. Graphics card- rtx 20xx/3060ti/3070 (Keep in mind, its my opinion)
think ull be fine with b450, b550 is u want the pcie gen 4
x570 is overkill
used to use a 3600 on my x570
but if u dont tinker and oc a b450 is fine
since this is the last gen for am4 anyway and the only thing u can upgrade from a 3600 is a 5000series
and pcie gen4 that would help whenever direct storage becomes a thing
but that also requires expensive ssds
So could you put a 5950x in a b450
No
Well
It's not like you can't
But you really can't do it without having problems left n right
Are you intentionally putting the worst board in?
ye lol
could be anything from lesser performance, to intense stability issues or straight up a short board life
I'm not sure if it's possible to have a 5950x work great for a B450, but there might be some that might be kinda alright
chipset itself isn't a big issue I don't think, just gotta have decently built motherboard
Ye
B450M/AC?
Gamer moment
would the motherboard i have work it says ryzen 5000 series compatible
its the x570 tuff gaming
motherboard
i assume it would
Yeah it shouldn't be any problem
it's low/mid end, bare minimums in every regard (ports, VRM's etc.)
Buy a 1000$ motherboard instead 😎
Works fine with a r9 3900x
as long as sufficient airflow for vrms and running it on stock ye
or caps and fets gonna pop
Yeah it's all stock I don't trust myself with overclocking and I've got plenty of airflow
Got a couple extra fans from my NH D15 working on em too
Just set it to the highest possible OC with the lowest power and it'll work 😎
All of that sounds like a horrible idea be right back
Update my house is now a crater
that was quick
Fuck it I'm buying a new motherboard what's a good one to grab for ryzen
Looking to really beef it
Depends on your needs, if you will buy the most expensive one it will just be a waste, if you buy the cheapest one chanses are you wont use other components to the full extent so you will have to do research, everything depends on the components you have if you just want an upgrade.
So if someone just says a random model of a motherboard it might not be so good for you
Also depending on what you plan to do with your pc you might not need one
3090 with a 3900x until I can get my hands on a 5950x
R9
That's the goal
I bought it to be beefy. But I was just a newbie. Now I know there's beefier than what I got and I got a friend who could use what I have
It's kind of just the one thing in my life I'm just gonna go all out on
is it even worth looking for a gpu right now?
absolutely no, buying a laptop with a gpu is more worth than buying a gpu
guess i'm not buying gtfo until a while later then
gtfo is not that of a demanding game tho, what do you have right now?
ah
depending on where you live you might look at some budget gpus like a gtx1660 super or 1650 super at retailers for the official retail price
since they will last you for a decent time and they are pretty good price to performance wise
but if you can find it at official retail price
my friend was lucky with a 1650 super but idk whats the situation at other places
I meant that all components count not just cpu and gpu since even the ssd might be under powered or overpowered not including the PSU or ram (ram shouldn't be a big deal, also it depends if you are planing to overclock it or not (I noticed earlier that you were not so probably you wont need a very expensive one but again picking the right thing will take some time)) and sorry im not going to give you a definitive answer on what exact part to buy.
there's only a few stores around here that are legit looking
and the gpus in my price range are all sold out
I'll just use a 550 since that seems to be the move
well they might all ways come back in stock so just keep an eye out.
if you know what you are doing go for it
Seems like the best move since that's what everyone recommends for a 5950. I'm also just kinda splurging anyway so nothing will be a waste, just more room for upgrades later
wait hold on i just found something other than another quadro
gtx 1050 ti oc 4gb gddr5
220 euros
its not going to play everything max but for the right price it should be alright for a year maybe
i had a basic gtx 1050 and it was not so good to be honest
and i would not recommend it for 220
i've never bought a gpu before so i really don't know how to look for them
the chip shortage doesn't help either
well they closed down the miners in china so maybe it will get better soon
or rather trying to close down all of em
Gonna have to hit up the microcenter
you can just do comparisons by googling "gpu A vs gpu B" and you should get at least somewhat of an understanding
Why must you be stupid 10 year old kid with PC
did i just get called a stupid 10 year old kid with a pc by a person named canada?
Not you
idk to who he is referring to
King is basically the 10 year old kid who asks dad to get the highest end components to show off so lol
I just do it because. Not to flex. But because it's fun
i've been playing games at 20 to 40 fps all my life
if you are not doing disign or futureproofing its a bit of a waste
no good
I think he just wants to buy the highest end that's available for not enough good reason
20FPS is not good? smh
I've been gaming at 15FPS in the start 😎
and here it starts "back im my day we played with floppy discs"
And it's my own money not my parents
Yes I know
But I'm still confused why someone would just keep on buying the highest end when it can already last for years with no problem : (
Because I wanna
But :(
:)
Bleh!
Its more of a self satisfaction thing
Only thing is I'm not sure if I will have to buy a new OS for the motherboard or if I can just transfer my ssd
probably you would get more self satisfaction from a decent car on a racetrack
Fair but a PC it's cheaper than a car
depends
if you want like a mazda mx5 its not that bad
if you want a car newer than 2015 then ye
i'm having a problem with the fps, when i'am playing alone, i get 40-50 fps, but when i play with players fps drops to 20-30 fps, what can i do?
i doubt that 3 player models would be that taxing to render
so whats the problem?
Specs?
maybe but the thing is i didnt had this problem before, i recently changed to ssd, and before this i could get between 40-50 fps even when i'm playing online.
i highly doubt changing from hdd to ssd is what is resulting in performance difference
unless the ssd itself is defective.
which is doubtable.
again, specs?
geforce 940mx, 8gb ram, i5
did you reinstall windows on to the ssd?
yes
check your nvidia settings for the game.
i did i've been tweaking on nvidia control panel
idk why fps goes down when i'm in multiplayer
So will I have to get a new OS for a new motherboard or can I just installed my ssd?
Install my current sad*
Ssd*
windows 10?
Yes
one time i had a problem with amd freesync. it made the black colors on the screen flicker in some games which then stayed even after i closed the game
You can put your SSD in, and then I'm not sure how, but you can switch the OS to another drive by doing something I cannot remember
It's not by just moving the files to the other drive so idk
Ah
- just be careful with getting the new drivers.
- if you activated your windows 10 with a Microsoft account it will probably work.
I got my shit prebuilt
so im assuming you're not the one who installed windows?
then, dubious, but at least worth a shot.
If all else fails I can get a new OS
just reinstall the current one
its windows 10 or linux at this point
for gaming you can go linux but you will have to learn a buntch
honestly, its not that much you have to learn
depends on what you want to do with the os
if its just play video games theres practically 0
since you just need steam and you are done
I'm doing Windows
but if you want other platforms it gets tricky
I won't be caught dead with Linux
i have both linux and windows
only a few games will only run on windows, even then many games are too old to play on windows that i want to play haha
well valve did a lot of development for linux so if its in steam you probably can play it on linux
Just got a b550 wifi fellas
nice
i just got another part to my pc i have psu, fans and controller, cpu fan,ram and windows license i believe and some thermal paste
left
Nice
Is the 4 pin fine? PSU was from evga b-stock and the 4 pin was on the wrong side so I had to pull it around and it doesn't have enough length to go completely in
there's a chance it will run, but I'd try to get it in properly, slight bumps might make it come lose, and sudden loss of power is asking for trouble
4 pin on the cpu? will be fine still
it's supposed to sort of snap into 1 24pin, just fiddle with it a bit while disconnected
can try pushing on just the 4pin like in the pic, but doesn't always go in well at that point
the 4pin part on the 20+4pin motherboard power
is fine.
it's not in all the way
it might work but there's a chance it goes loose from a slight bump on the case and result in sudden shutdowns
motherboard isn't even in the case still, it's best to do it properly now rather than risk it
Motherboard is in the case and if I plug in the 4 pin in first the 20 pin won't go in, tried plugging them in together and that also doesn't work.
Decided to just buy cable extensions
The board is an rampage II extreme and is an eatx board so the extra cutouts made it look like it wasn't installed in the picture but it was
And for anyone wondering how I got my hands on a rampage ii extreme, my neighbor was throwing away his old workstation
the picture is a bit blurry, but as long as the bottom of the connector is flush and the seam is basically invisible it's good to go
unsure what you were asking about if the connector seems to be plugged in all the way
if the connector was special it would be keyed differently and not plug in(it's standard for decades)
There is a spec mistake and the ATX EPS 8 pin will fit a PCIE 8 pin but not the other way around
The atx EPS 8 has a 2x4 pin implementation too
This will all be fixed soon though i think most next gen mobos are gonna be ATx12VO

@frank apex U need to fix up ur punctuation rq
the bot is seeing a link in ur message and deleting it
make sure all the . are placed properly and not in between two unspaced words
i dont have a link
I know
oh ok
should let u post after u fix that up
Hey guys, hope you all are doing good, i have an issue with my gpu fans, the gpu i have is GIGABYTE''s RTX 3070 ti Gaming OC, the issue is that the fans are silent until the gpu temp goes to 55c and then they start turning but when the temp gets low enough all fans stop spinning except that last fan (most right fan), it doesnt stop spinning and runs at 100% speed, i tried to tweak it in MSI afterburner and tried Aorus engine, nothing seems to work, when i go to the bios however, the fans stop spinning and act normal.
Specs:
Ryzen 7 3700x
Asus strix b550-f (WiFi) "Bios updated"
G skill 3600 MHz 32 GB kit
Gigabyte RTX 3070 ti Gaming OC
Corsair RM850 PSU
thank you!

probably faulty gpu firmware
either set custom fan curve in afterburner to see if u can fix it or rma
but gigabyte is in a shithole rn so rma is gonna be a hassle
i tried to set the fan curve manually it doesn't work
i know xDDD im not sending it to RMA right now
but thanks for the suggestion

the behavior is different in bios, possibly because of drivers installed on windows or software taking over
might have a few utilities that have saved settings and default to that once in windows. some overwrite others, so I'd think back about every program you used that can control fans and check each
wouldn't hurt to clean things up with DDU and reinstalling GPU drivers too
will try it, the last thing i will do is reset the whole pc and start from there
thanks
Does ice giant make those thermosiphon things for normal cpus and if so would it be worth upgrading from a d15 for a 5000 series chip?
so ive been thinking i was looking at case and i saw gamer nexus reviewed it and he said that top part was better left empty cause it doesnt have a open mesh filter up top so i was thinking of just replacing back fan any opinions on that
for reference
@viral geode a nh-d15?
Yes
But I just found out about those ice giant coolers and they seem better
But I wasn't sure if it was worth the price tag from a d15
The thermals for threadrippers were better than a d15 threadripper model. But I'm not sure if they make em for normal cpus
I've already got a D15 for my 3900x
But I heard 5000 series works up more heat than 3000 series
im going to be getting a d15 for my 5800x
I was just curious is all. Might nab one if it's a worthwhile upgrade but if it's negligible for the price then nah
I'm not overclocking so I may not need it
Ah gotcha. I just remember seeing the ice giant was putting it to shame
Width wise but it's about the same height wise
Was thinking about it if the NH D15 fell behind for cooling a 5950
The max my 3900x gets to with a single fan with my D15 is like 71C
im going to use 2 fans so it should run slightly cooler
My case doesn't have the clearance but my ram is also like right fuckin next to my CPU socket so once my B550 comes in I'll be able to put the second on
but it most likely will perform the same unless your putting cpu under extreme conditions i would assume
Nah it's just for gaming. I'm not rendering shit
But I play a lot of higher end games
then most likely a nh d15 will probably be fine
Like cybermeme (modded to hell) and resE village
Frankly enough the hottest my CPU ever gets is playing dmc5 for some reason
Cyberpunk my temp maxes out at like 63
But dmc 5 kicks peak temp (for whole session) to like 70
It's fuckin wierd
Not even res 8 kicks it up that high and I think that's the most demanding game I play
Anyone have any idea why dmc kicks my temps way up?
uh is vsync on?
if its off
that might be why?
considering it limits your frames
I have v sync on for everythinf
Everything*
Can't stand when it's off especially with games like get to the orange door that runs at like 300fps
Screen tearing.exe
better to use cap fps setting instead of using vsync
3080 coming soon

Is it there yet?
Thursday is when we get it this week, been waiting for a long time
Called off work and everything, this is a huge event
big fps gamers
Fuck yeah
gamer hours how much did you spend @signal fulcrum
only about 600$ give or take
I bought it from a friend of mine from work, he ended up getting a 3090 shortly after and boom easy gains
My friends just give me anxiety
lol
But that's cool man, hope you enjoy gaming on it
it's a beast I sold my 2060 to my brother
Aw that's a nice gesture
yeah he wanted to get into PC shit after he got back from A-school
I would recommend replacing the Corsair CV 650 in the future. I seen too many of those die and take other components from it.
@proper wren Yer I'm changing it for an 850 so I can upgrade to a better card than the 3070. Im just not sure on which one my friend keeps saying I should just get 1000 watt so I don't need to change again. What would you say a reliable PSU is to get ? Is it just the 650 that can go bad or is it Corsair as a brand?
I just kinda got whatever I found so I've got a gamemax 850 gold and it works fine
@viral geode yer it's the zotac 3070 OC white edition not sure what's over clocked about it though but it runs 1440p on a 34" ultra wide so it's good enough for what I need at the moment. I do want a bigger card so I can move to 4k above 60hz though.
I use mine for 1080 144hz
Because I'm stingy and not too much of a nitpicker
I'm working my ass off to try to get a 3090 though
Some PSUs are going to be bad, wouldn’t matter company, and def not the watt amount. Recently though Gigabyte’s PSU is getting some problems across many PSUs atm, so I’d avoid that one for a bit.
@fleet canopy ok thanks i want a modular one i know that and either a platinum or titanium I know that much
A gold is perfectly fine
Seasonic Focus PX 850 850W Modular 80+ Platinum PSU/Power Supply thats the one im currently looking at right now
Those are solid units
Find a gold powersupply like seasonic, corsair RMx series, EVGA G5s, NZXT (surprisingly working with seasonic), bequiet, asus.
850W gold rated is the best recommendation always.
If I was at home I can show you a doc I made with a co-worker on psu ratings
Zotacs are usually garbage at OC especially the 20 series cards. If you want to do 4K then you would want like a better 3070 or 3080 or higher.
@proper wren I'm looking to the 3080ti but I want to upgrade my PSU first. I'll look into the gold ones thanks what would you say a good GPU is to aim for I want an Asus one.
3080ti is basically 3090 but actually for gaming lol
Im having a lot of problems with freezing, ive tried quite a few things and the problem still persists. Turned off all programs on startup, checked temps, checked if anything is capping out in task manager, everything. Anyone know what could be causing it? specs:
3080
i9 10900K
64G ram
temps usually at ~50 C
try setting whatever is stuttering to High Priority in task manager
thats the thing, everything is stuttering from Splitgate and GTFO to even file manager and chrome
is there a chance your storage is over 5 years old or overfilled to the brim?
might be IO slowdowns as a potential cause
if it's tough looking for potential fixes, can always just nuke and reinstall windows, at least that's a step I'd take before blaming it on hardware issues
storage is pretty new, probably not overfilled, built the pc about 9 months ago
might try nuking
Just get flash Linux on a USB and see how that runs
Should I nab a 3080ti? Or just go straight for a 3090
I've got no space for a radiator for the strix water-cooled 3080ti so it would be a normal air cooled one
Ping me when you answer btw I keep this place muted
if it's just for games there's not really a reason to get a 3090
Gotcha
Efficiency rating means nothing when it comes to how well built a unit is, some of those brands you mentioned have poor quality units at 80+ gold
You mostly want to look at warranty if you're just looking at 1 thing.
If a PSU has a 10 year warranty its going to generally be a very good unit
ok so anyone have any suggestions for the rest of my build i went from the 4 fans i thought about getting to 1 cause gamer nexus said it was supposed to be like that https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KmVhht
i think i like it overall but if anyone has any suggestions for anything i havent bought let me know
and the cpu cooler is buffy i know but i want it to last and not doing watercooling or aio
by chance what operating sytem you using and if windows 10 or 11
@cinder cryptthat psu is way too much unless you're planning on upgrading to a high-end 30 series gpu
the components with no price are the ones you've already bought?
yes
okay so i have a few reccomendations i'd make
nh d-15 => dark rock pro 4
it's smaller and not that much worse performance wise
second off i'd change the ram to 3600 or 3733 mhz(best for ryzen from what i've heard) cl16
ok ive heard that and ive thought about that but ive heard somewhere it doesnt seem to work as well with 5000 series
let me research
what temps are you looking for?
imo anything below 80c is fine
but you may disagree
low temps not high yea right now my current pc with a 2700 sometimes goes over 80 which i dont like
alright so from what im reading it hits 87c with drp4
highest ive read
ive also seen a 66 and a 79
and nhd15 is at around 80
and also another reason i wanted to go with nh is cause my case has room for it \
so at most a 7c diffrence
at most
and like idk if the issue persists but most ryzen 3000 series had tons of room for undervolting
supplying lower voltage to the cpu
hmmm
nothing bad comes from it
also im fine with 3600 ram speed funny enough my prebuilt is running 1300mhz it seems like and i dont know the actuall speed cause i have not pulled them they are offbrand anyway
is 1300mhz the infinity fabric speed or the speed you're running at
and im just wanting 2 16 gb sticks not really any need for anymore
i dont know im using icue for my corsair mat
and was telling me a ram speed
in either case you should turn on xmp
dont know how haven't messed with bios yet
did you jsut get it?
nah i have had for 3 years almost
bro.
yeahhhh
you do
and you'll have to go into the bios to undervolt too unless u want to do through ryzen master
longer lifespan cuz of lower temps
and performance will stay the same if you do it right
where might that be
where might xmp be
i told you to check those 4 first options
wait here i found exact steps
ai tweaker
ai overclock tuner
xmp1
or docp
hmmm
just search around man
yea i dont see an option in overclock
pretty sure you can scroll down
and?
or oc tuner which adjust automatically
what is in "memory frequency"
Imagine having xmp on 2133mhz
this board doesnt look like it was in anyway meant for oc
cause ive only seen 1 setting for oc
Whats your mobo and cpu
no
Not yours his
im not using that yet
that's what was on the pc part picker list
im still bulding it
......................................................................................................................................
no i literally asked if the ones that are listen as 0 dollars on that list
are installed
and you were like "yes"
you said do you have those
that's fair
never asked if i had them installed
i thought it's implied
...
i think this one is 1st gen
If is first gen you're gonna struggle to overclock hard
1st gen Ryzen can overclock but very limited
B450 Prime A II is remodel or revision
ah the cpu im using is 2nd gen
Okay
its a 2700
You can minor overclock it
The board is not meant to overclock hard because the vrms
board can't supply enough power to overclock
Putting the values manually on that board is not recommended
I would just overclock the ram to 2400 if possible
Default 2700 base is fine
Just depends what ram manufacturer is from
idk its set on auto
there realy isnt any settings to adjust them except the timings
and i dont know how much it can take
timings matter more than anything else tbh but i got no idea how to set them
cause like i said its offbrand ram
Your timing is CL19 so very limited
its evo potenza geil
you dont set CL timings ever. It stays like that from the manufacturer
no 1st number
3200MHZ CL16 beats 3600MHZ CL19
But it can change if you're using apu or intergrated graphics
4000mhz cl19 is a big joke
that's like cheapo 4000mhz
btw any ram suggestions
trident z is what i have and i pick it over corsair any day
CL timings is the reason why manufacturers and stores wont take back
Corsair, G.Skill TridentZ/Ripjaws V, Kingston HYPERX
if you have any suggestions i would just like 2 16 sticks
If you're cheap then Tforce and g.skill aegis
i think he wants rgb
If RGB Corsair Vengence RGB
They have a new model
If you want solid performance then Gskill TridentZ cl14 or cl15
the one i have selected is the corsair vengeance rgb pro sl 3600 with cl of 19
Beware that your mobo will bottleneck the ram but you can take it to next build
i dont think you can get cl14 or cl15 on 3600mhz
Check mobo if it supports
The onboard wifi is not useless
it's not something you should base your motherboard choice on though
You have to know whats on the board itself first
nah i wasnt
X570 plus wifi is a solid mid range board
you can get a usb wifi antena
that is far faster than my onboard wifi on my old mobo
You have to deal with hiccups, overheating issues, and latency
Get a PCIE wifi card if you do that
I only recommend usb wifi for light work and light gaming
the difference in latency isn't that big
ther ero im talking about is a mesh wifi system
Onboard wifi has improved over the years
like around 10ms
Except on MSI
still solid
still overrated asf
I rarely see them RMA
Luck of the draw
that was horrible luck/shipping tho ima assume
ok so are the 18 cl corsair stil good you think
or no ive heard that they perform good still with cl 18
i mean in all terms it would still be better then what i currently have
cause as it stand i dont have alot of issues with my ram except like vr chat which i dont know if its my ram
For VRChat your cpu mobo and ram would be bottleneck
cause it has moments where it freezes
I have ryzen 3600, b550, 3060ti and 32 gbs ram
for a split sec
no
