well you could go with water cooler for your cpu and then you reall just need some airflow across the gpu and you just be fine no matter what
it’s just really what you can afford and the space your case has to mount things
E
wha
more on the tech side of things, nasa is going to try to land a rover on mars to day in about an hour. streams on youtube and twitch
Client sent me to do a build similar to this one and whoever gave him the quote from memoryexpress hurts me inside.
F sku, on z390 board with 1 stick of ram at 3200. Using 1440p with no videocard
big lmao
A 450w power supply, is he nuts?
lol
Pain Peko

@cursive anvil Technically he's not because there's no video card so it doesn't draw any power lol
i mean
quality 450w power supply will be easily enough for a single gpu
unless you plan on running something the likes of a 295x2
or 3090
Its everyday use computer so is fine
That build quote no gpu though
And I have to do 5950x and 3090 build on Saturday. But no 850+ psus
@abstract kite while you are technically correct (the best kind of correct) I makes me pretty leery to see a 450w PSU, even with no video card. USB driven devices will suck juice like no tomorrow.
people going with 750 for a single gpu are just silly
USB headset is what pushed me to retire the 750w psu I used with my 1080 gpu.
I couldn't power on my PC with the headset plugged in because the draw power was too much at boot. Worked fine if I unplugged the headset, and ran with the headset plugged in after boot.
That's a strange issue
Sounds more like a software issue yeah or a power draw issue 🔽
that's
you do know that standard USB 3 has 1A power draw limit
you'd first overload the mobo circuitry before the psu
and iirc if there's a short or the device tries to draw significantly more power than allowed your pc will just shut down that usb port to prevent damage
Unless you had eco mode enabled
Right, the PC wouldn't power on from a shut down state, everything was asking for juice all at once and the PSU couldn't deliver so it wouldn't power on. It took me a bit to figure it out
eco mode
lol no
I swapped to an 850w and haven't had an issue since
Yeah
the power rating had absolutely nothing to do with it wtf
when your pc is booting up its not drawing even half of what it's drawing under load
It was an old seasonic rebranded by corsair, at 11 years old it was still trucking. I checked the caps before I sold it and they were clean.
The psu is still trucking with the guy I sold it to.
I fully informed him of its age and to replace it when he could because I sold it cheap, but he ays it is still running fine.
Just because it's working at the moment doesn't mean it's not broken
There could be underlying issues
That just aren't apparent
You think I didn't inspect it?
Lol the issues wouldn't be noticeable to the human eye
But, I use to inspect server boards, the only issue I wouldn't be able to spot would be a subsurface trace breaking.
There was no indication that the capacitors were breaking down chemically or leaking.
Issue is with the math even at full load a 1080ti build at most should only draw 650
If I had access to the testbed at a former job, I'd have run it through that too.
it is literally impossible to overpower the 5v rail with a usb device
without something being severely wrong
If your pc wasn't starting it would indicate that either the psu wasn't delivering the power it implied or that the USB device was shortinga
The PC wasn't shutting down
I would turn it off to reset for updates, or just occasionally.
With the new headset I noticed that it wouldn't power on when I switched it on with the headset plugged in. My presumption was the system was demanding too much power, so I tested it by unplugging the headset and turning it on at which point it worked.
I isolated the issue to the last recent change which was the addition of a USB powered headset.
You are correct in assuming the PSU was likely not pumping out its full rating anymore due to age, but beyond that it was still functional when it was running.
i don't understand why you think its a power rating issue
if it wasn't shutting down under load then there's no way it didn't have enough power to boot up
The other thing too is that mice and keyboards can prevent your system from booting and they can cause lag in games as well
@gritty timber my presumption was that it was just too much of a surge at start up. Similar to how you can switch off your heaters, lights, stereo, etc when you are trying to start your car when it is really cold out.
without those perihperals competing for power, the batter can send more to the alternator giving it a better chance to catch.
well yes but thats a capacitor issue
as far as im aware components dont draw full power just booting up
⬆️
I was just a tech, I don't claim to understand the deeper computer engineering. I just troubleshoot, isolate, and find a solution.
"Apple subpoenaed Valve under the basic argument that certain Steam information would be crucial to building its case against Epic"
Apple’s Request 2 is very narrow. It simply requests documents sufficient to show Valve’s: (a) total yearly sales of apps and in-app products; (b) annual advertising revenues from Steam; (c) annual sales of external products attributable to Steam; (d) annual revenues from Steam; and (e) annual earnings (whether gross or net) from Steam"
Fuck Apple
Is valve even involved with this suit?
If they aren't, what legal obligation does a private company have to share their books?
Fuck apple.
Fuck epic too.
valve is not a party to the suit
fuck apple and fuck epic just because
you need to be braindead to support either of them
Pretty much.
sadly we have a lot of braindead people
i'm pretty sure that you can subpoena 3rd parties to a suit though
just looks bad for apple
I blame the internet, ironically. With easy access to information people became lazy and rely on what other people say rather than learn for themselves.
people have always been like this its just more manifested now
The first time i heard that valve (and now we know apple) takes a 30% cut, I was shocked as I thought that number was incredibly high
I thought the only way they could get away with it is because of the large audience they have, an the thought of "going it alone" without steam could be kind of daunting for a studio
In the early days 30% wasn't all that crazy for the rare service they provided. Now it's excessive and hurts developers disproportunately in a way.
As much as Epic and Apple suck shaking up this aspect is actually healthy for the industry
I'm so fucking anxious watching xqc build https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0WzLguGLOo
im going to lose interest in ltt if his videos go this path
i dont care about some other derpwad on youtube
hey if their is a opengl32.dll issue how do u fix it?
How can scalpers scalp this if there is no info on where??
Muppy I'm making a joke calm down.
jeez i just got a 3070 by pure chance because thats what i could get. that picture makes me cry a little
nvidia can rot in hell for artificially limiting certain products
i cant see how this move benefits anyone except nvidia
Woo hoo oh yeah we love you gamers we totally do 😎 so we limited stuff lol so we can laugh at your face cause it isn't helping you!
anyone gaming off a laptop?
Nvidia are literally selling their Chips directly to these massive Crypto farms and filing it as custom sales (cause technically they are) while the average consumer is left in the cold. To the point where the normies and fanboys are clinging to the 3060 being Bios locked to do poorly at mining, when that doesn't even really matter
I haven't been getting any 3060tis or 3070 gpus
It's all higher end expensive 3080s and 3090s, them gamers don't want 3090s for workstation
just render it lol
Hey did you guys hear about the phones getting married? The reception was amazing.
Hey you hear about the guy who randomly went disappearing after making a shitty joke online. No because it was covered up so well.
I have more I can tell you. I would call you to tell them, but I won a no bell prize.

Anyone has experience with buying monitors for laptop? Trying to get a 27 inch external monitor for my new laptop but don't have the knowledge on it
Its just whatever monitor suits you and is affordable
I have an old 2009 sony TV as my second monitor
Alrighty, thanks 🙏🏼
oh yeah, dont forget the HDMI cable lol
LG 27GL850-B , MSI MAG274QRF-QD , Acer Nitro XV272U
which would you guys prefer for a 27" monitor?
depends what price you can find them
nvm got a couple a letters wrong in the model name
around the same price
MSI MAG274QRF-QD
is well reviewed and better than the LG variant. I'd probably go with that. Haven't seen much about the XV272U Acer though
thank you thank you 😄
what's the usage (gaming?) whats the budget, and what kind of laptop?
I need someone to DM me a computer thats beautiful, and can give a nasa one a run for its money (or can handle the valve index smoothly and easily on the hardest of days
Like tell me the specs i need, give me examples and have a nerdy convo witth me basically
ok pick your budget first then look here at the build that corresponds to your budget https://www.logicalincrements.com
post that build here and people will debate it
i have a question
if i'm having an average of 110 fps in this game on a 1080p/300hz monitor, what average fps will i have on a 1440p/144hz monitor ?
Its down to the hardware you have but im guessing roughly half of what you're getting now.
Half very likely
Just look up videos of gaming performance
They'll all vary depending on the game
im getting like 160 fps on average at 1440p
Wow.. What's your machine's specs?
Amd Ryzen 5 3600x, corsair 16gb 3200mHz Ram.
Crucial mx500 M.2 ssd
Gigabyte b550 gaming x motherboard
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3070 Eagle OC
I have a beast... 😣
@winged pewter
Damn that's a beast <3
RIP Frys Electronics
you write poems about the intel celeron n4000
boomers be like > hey i bought this pretty good laptop for 1000$
has intel celeron n4000 and 8gb ram + no dedicated gpu
sure
then asks why is the laptop slow after 3 days of usage "it must be a virus"
classic
goes to some random technician 4 times and spends 100$ each time to reinstall windows
classic
i basically have to go shopping for PCs with relatives because they dont know shit about whats in a pc.
"how do you send a shopping list?"
kek
Just mostly the fact that there's so many shit in the PC tech stuff, it's not like you're gonna get exactly everything you asked fo
r
Yes
hey guys so I'd like to ask if this is a serviceable pc for VR gaming and 1080p60fps
GTX 1060 (6gb)
AMD RYZEN 5 3600X
16 gigs of crucial ram 2400mhz DDR4
500w psu
B450M mother board
ryzen + 2400mhz. in my opinion you need to get fast ram on ryzen systems. Anyway you can get faster ram or does that break the budget?
I already have on stick so I was just going to get the same stick again
how does one get faster ram
what do you do with 24gb?
32 gb is a bit excessive for GTFO
24 + 16 = 40
never said I passed math class
same
also 32 is more common than 40
yeah, but I only have one slot left, so if I wanna get the most I can I should get a single 16, but maybe I should just get a better GPU
I would go for a better gpu, depends on the one have though
you can do a lot with 24gb of ram
Speaking of vr and 1060, I wonder how it performs to this day
Probably still just me thinking it’s now too weak so lol
Had a 1060 3GB which is a fair reason for me to assume cause fuck anything lower than 4GB
HP is buying HyperX for $425M
If someone could DM me, who is very knowledgeable about the Valve Index, or VR gaming in general, and what it takes? etc?
just get an intel celeron
n4000
😎
well first advice and most important is DONT get oculus
its owned by facebook and you need a facebook account in order to use it
One google search away
Unless you already had an account, you're logging in through facebook on Oculus' devices.
can confirm
@fleet canopy https://imgur.com/gallery/byHRclP
would throwing your oculus in the trash also work?
It's easy enough to make a throwaway account, though it's not something I care about. If I wanted to get a VR set I would likely get an Index or something anyway.
Used that video as a guide to build my first PC :)
Randomly got recommended an entry of 2019 ROG Reboot
I very much would pay for the epic pc
God I wish this crypto shit would end I want to get a new GPU -_-
😔
The crypto isn't even a problem tbh
It's the fucking scalpers
And lying ass nvidia
And more stuff
Well it is, Nvidia have been selling directly to these big crypto mining operations
Pain.
So we're literally getting the dregs, now the prices are fucked. And it isn't just demand but also Tariffs and what not
We're just the ones getting absolutely fucked now
But they'll pay for it in due time
can people just make crypto gpus already ffs
like please fuck off
no-one likes a miner
well, mostly scalpers & idiots making rx570s go for 600$ but still
for crying out loud
I'm waiting for bitcoin to crash to 5k again and for everyone involved to get fucked
and hopefully people won't be dumb enough to buy mining gpus en masse
It's only dumb from a gamer's perspective though. They're just buying money printers. Not hard to see the appeal
Dunno if it will, but it has been crazy volitile.
just wait for the price to drop to 20-30k and the market's gonnabe overflooded with cheap GPUs, at least thats my assumption
i mean its at 31k rn apparently (GBP tho)
There was a flood of $100 1070s and Vega 56s after the mining bubble crashed last time
If there is a crash I'm not gonna make the same mistake as last time and invest in it
I just let my rig mine while I'm at work
You're gonna destroy your card with no replacement
You'll have the money, but you can't get another card lol
Im still stuck on a 1060
So if literally anything is done to bring more 30XX cards to market
Then im happy
damn
Mining doesn't destroy cards unless you don't know what you're doing
My card is getting the exact same voltage as idle, vbios won't let me go lower
Miners typically will unvervolt the cards and overclock the memory cause that's what is important. If mining destroyed cards then the countless 1070s, 1080s, Vega 56s and so on would all be junk
I'm certain they weren't
Apparently NVIDIA made it so you couldn't even use the RTX 3000 if it got used for mining on gaming stuff
That was what they said about the 3060
But even then it doesn't matter
If miners really want to they can make their own drivers and bios
"Oh you can't hack this." That's literally asking for it to be broken
Moded bios are pretty popular, I thought the hashrate thing was in firmware
Modded, yes
Already caught 3 people trying to pay with other people's credit cards and wrong ID

Them price scalpers be thirsty

Is it normal to occasionally hear some kind of clicking noise? I don't know how to describe it.
Like, I only ever hear it when I hold my ear right up to the case and listen closely.
maybe its your hard drive?
Do SSDs make the same noise HDDs do?
Again, I don't know how to exactly describe it.
I don't know if I'm just being overly paranoid or if I have a reason to be concerned.
Because this morning I found a few very tiny droplets of semi-dry/fully dried and hardened soda on the top panel of the case near the dust filter, and I have my radiator top mounted. I also found the same dried and hardened tiny droplets on the side panel but I didn't notice any near the PSU.
And so far, 13 hours later, nothing has happened and I've been using the computer all day.
And I don't see any obvious signs of damage or whatever that would tell me something is wrong.
Would I know it when I see or is liquid damage on desktop PC components very subtle?
The best that I can describe this noise is that it sounds like a grinding or static noise.
it could just be friction from your fans spinning
i put my ear up to my own case
i suppose it could be like a "static" noise or like white noise or whatever
Like, it's audible for 2 seconds, then fades for like 3, then audible for 2 seconds again, and repeats.
Are the effects of liquid damage instant the moment liquid makes contact with the PSU or AIO, or any integral part of a computer including cables?
Sometimes I hear clicking in my case too I poke it hard and the clicking goes away
If it isn't hard drive, I'd guess it could be pump cycles, if you are running the pump automatically controlled.
This is kind of equal "black box" stuff unless you're able to discern where the sound comes from. Clicking isn't that uncommon. From the HDD clicking, and some switches, an example would be that my fans bearings make a clicking noise sometimes simply due to how they're constructed.
Maybe a fan in the PSU is getting ready to die, or some debris is caught in it.
One of my friends gets this error, he tried restarting the game and Steam but didn't work
steam servers are down @slim pendant
Anything GTFO related, goes to stuff like #gtfo-technical-support or #gtfo-related-questions
or you could answer the question in four words like I did
Yes but this is pc tech channel, not gtfo help so lole
mb, he fixed it
Plus I've got not a clue with GTFO stuff since I don't play it : )
why are you in the discord of a game you dont play lol
Can you play? maybe the servers are not down everywhere
had the same issue that magically resolved itself couple minutes ago @slim pendant
my steam is connected
They should at least add in small info of fixes or why it is happening instead of just "You need internet connection lol"
its a server issue, nothing clients can do to fix it
"After a month of pushing (and with the immense support of our fans), Google finally reached out and was able to provide a lot of transparency around the situation and to restore access to all of our accounts."
Since the dev did not share any of that transparency with us I will assume that google realized they made a mistake and paid them lots of money to continue to work with them
also, as just a regular user of google services I'm comforted in the fact that it took over a month for someone with a project worth hundreds of thousands (or millions) of dollars to get google to move on this
oh wait did I say comforted, i meant the opposite of that
Yeah it's not a good look, them sacking the game studios they hired too. It's quite the shitshow on their part
yep that sounds about right
“we’re really sorry and we’ll give you more profits”
Don't think the developers estimated profits off selling the games on stadia, just developing it for stadia.
I knew Stadia was going to fail when I first saw the controller.
Just an ordinary standard controller with no new features.
imagine not being the chad wii for true gamers
I anticipated it failing because I've spent the past few years doing everything I can to shave off every last ms of input lag (etc) from my pc and I am still not totally satisfied.... google wanted me to start using a controller connected over the internet
And a lot of promised features were just gone at launch.
Mobile support was locked to Google Pixel phones,
and thank jeebus that it did fail, the world did not need stadia exclusives
I also really disliked how many people defended Stadia by saying it worked for them.
It's great that Stadia worked perfectly for them, but it didn't for me. Their positive experience in no way changes my negative one.
stadia worked for people who had never played a videogame before in their life
glad the google internet monopoly didnt grow larger
There is no Google Internet Monopoly.
cloud gaming is a godsend for people with craptops or anyone who has no desire to spend on a rig.
the delay is negligible if you compare it to unstable 20fps potato graphics for heavier games.
Stadia is the most well known but one of the worst implementations of the concept though
There is no internet monoploy, there is only Google.
Again? You mean with the same old ass politicans that are old enough to be your great, great grandfather. The same ones that doesn't understand what or how a computer works?
I mean that google do agreements that exclude competition and forces them, either directly or indirectly, out of contention.
You know, monopoly stuff.
What I am saying is that the hearing they have will go no where
That’s not true, cloud gaming is a good idea.
It just didn’t work for the simple fact that USA internet infrastructure is shit, therefore there was no point in it state-side
The amount of people who use gforce now would disagree
Then again, gforce now worked with steam, stadia was just another platform that no-one wanted to use
Google went for the “fuck you another platform” route, and nvidia went for the “yeah sure steam/epic time”
What? I am talking about a multitrillion dollar business that will go before a hearing of judges that were paid for by that business. If it didn't work the first time it's not going to happen a second.
Google going to court for monopoly laws? bruh they own the courts lol
'we checked ourselfs and we are not in violation'
cloud gaming would be a good idea if ISPs actually gave people good internet connection
I pay for 200 mps, and on a good day I get 40, with no other devices other than my computer and phone connected
Part of me wishes you are wrong, but the other part knows you are correct.
Last time they had to pay fines
Actually, might be mixing up Microsoft and Google, there. Microsoft had to pay fines.
The time before Microsoft had to spin off assets.
Cries in Australian
i have a strange issue where tabs sometimes act as if they were tabbed out or fullscreen. e.g. i have steam, firefox, and discord open; i watch a video on youtube and then want to check discord but it literally doesnt let me click on the discord button on the bottom or steam or whatever and i am "stuck" in firefox. the only reason to resolve it temporarily is by pressing ctrl alt del
Are you able to switch active screens by pressing alt tab?
switch between the active screens yes but i cant press anything on them
480gb ssd
but is from "Kingston"
my borger and fries are cold from doing diagnostics
heresy
Just why
I want to change my headset to a better one with better microphone. So i'm considering the Hyper X II Cloud Red
https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-KHX-HSCP-RD/dp/B00SAYCXWG/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=Kingston+HyperX+Cloud+II+Red&qid=1614913713&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyTksxQUM1VE01RU5VJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMTcwNDA4MkdQTzlTUk9HV0oyWCZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMjIxOTU5MUE1V0VBQTdZSlZTRSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
My budget is around 95$ also. Is this a good choice ?
as far as gaming companies making headsets go, hyperx is pretty good
I had a Cloud II for around 2 and a half years but i was young and never took care of the cable so within a year i had piercing in the braided cable
for my second headset i also i got a cloud 2 and am now about 6 months in and cable is in perfect condition
one of the most accurate headsets i've come across for rainbow six siege (sound is everything in that game) and i love it for all games
would definitely recommened just don't let it get tangled but thats like all headsets
and because it has the multimedia controller its easy to take on flights and the noise cancelling is brilliant aswell as good comfort
Any questions feel free to DM me @kindred fiber also yes it does have a clear mic
might be a good idea to go into vc with sen
let sen hear the mic quality i guess
tks for the response. Most of my friends complained me having a bad mic . Currently i'm using steelseries artic
don't need to test the mic, if you say it's good then i trust you
Have tested with a few games(Overwatch, Rainbow 6, CSGO, GTFO, Tekken 7) including voice chat , and all said my voice is much better now. The overall sound is pretty good . For the 7.1 surrounded sound idk what to say cuz it's kinda weird tbh.
Tks to Hyper X
yeah i check if the games have built in i think its stereo bc if you then use the surround its weird
hyperx more like mad crosstalk
I have a $20 set that is still trucking after 10 years
My gaming headset has been working flawlessly for 4 years now.
got myself a pair of DT770 now
and while it's a very nice headset i wish I'd have gone sennheiser
GPS 350 has been the best I've ever had
Like a good pair of boots, buy once cry once
facts
2 days after launch, hidden mining performance is revealed as someone stumbles upon it
uwu
it might deter some noob miners, but they're hardly a problem anyway. Better than nothing? Probably?
It's just so they can sell their mining specific cards
14nm++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Huh, guess what they did to help thermal transfer in 10th gen wasn't gonna last forever
They shouldn't have even bothered with rocket lake
Other than 4th gen PCIE support I have no idea what it's adding for them
A replacement for heating. No more heating bills!
i save on my heating bill from my servers alone
Yes, but that is much more expensive than simply an Intel CPU, no?
Well tbf, the more expensive the heating unit, the more you can brag about it and feel superior
you ever just run furmark to heat up your room because heating sucks?
Mine instead, makes some money on the side
Imagine mining
If it was mining, I'd only be mining for diamonds
Cause epic gamer lol 😎

Any tips on how to get the bolt thing unstuck from the screw in the opposite end
le wrench
Screwdriver on one side to hold in place
Le wrench on the other
If that is possible
I've tried so many different things and it just ain't coming out at all
Needlenose pliers?
gonna throw my hat in the ring with.
vice grips.
plumbers wrench
Obviously, it doesn't come out with the M6, then?
Did you push the stand off through the hole...
how did that even happen
Got a picture of the other side?
The solution was to dremel the screw into oblivion
Thanks y'all for the help I love each and every one
If you had pushed the stand off all the way through, dremeling it off would have been the onlt way.
@stark plover make sure you thoroughly check for and remove any metal dust from the board or it will short and release the smoke djinni, maybe even the flame monster. Don't assume canned air will get all of it.
Yup I covered up the pcb before I started to dremel and I made sure I cleaned it off before I did anything
Unsure how you can't just screw it out, rather honestly.
But I guess a the force can fuck it, in contrast to the dremel.
That's it? Drilled some holes? I thought there was gonna be a pay off after that
That's how you unlock it for placing in CPU yes
Setting up Intel motherboards to work with AMD cpu be like
What are the minimum specs u need to play this game?
Oh god the suffering ☠️😂
Co-worker and I made a dumb psu brand tier list for fun
seasonic and superflower SSS tier
Can confirm, seasonic just works.
Ok there is something wrong with my computer keyboard
Any button I press? Doesnt type or function at all
But! Each time I press a key my computer makes a noise
Its like a high pitched click
Ive had to use my computer in tablet mode to do school today, rip
When is the last time you cleaned they keyboard with canned air? Is it possible a spilled drink is gumming up the mechanism?
Never spilled anything on the keyboard, but I did already try to clean it with canned air
Got the can right next to me
What kind of keyboard is it, anything special or just a generic?
Is it the laptop keyboard that is failing or the external?
Both. Neither of them type, and the click goes for both
Odd that they both would go at the same time.
Ok well I just restarted my computer and that fixed it
I will never understand these gd machines
Thank ye anyway man
Can you borrow a keyboard from a friend and see if that has the same issue?
Or better yet also see if your mechanical external keyboard works properly on a different computer.
I hate telling people to spend money if they don't need to and while I think it is a remote possibility that something else is going on, I still believe it is good practice to isolate the issue.
I also don't want to recommend popping off keys because it is easy to damage them.
that didn't take long
but but but they said it was unhackable
I'm a bit conflicted with the idea of having Mining exclusive cards, I understand the idea of doing that. But the thing is it's not gonna solve any kind of shortage problem they're already facing, it would take away resources from making the gaming cards. As it is right now, at least when the mining bubble pops again there will be tons of second hand cards in the market
it only helps nvidia
Though I guess nVidia has been selling chips directly to miners as it is, so it doesn't matter
I think that's because you enabled a shortcut key that can change the keyboard layout to another one, doing different functions or some shit I don't even know
But ye restarting pc always fixes it ig
I forget those short cuts exists
so, what does cpu culling workload does
Low = CPU is used less, GPU is used more.
Med = a 50/50 of both
High = CPU is used more, GPU is used less
Low is best for PCs with a GPU that is better, High is best for PCs with a good CPU
make energy off it
your pc is now a fusion energy generator
pathetic numbers
So if I have an rx 5700 xt and a ryzen 7 2700 I should probably go with cpu culling medium?
I'd just say to try out every option and see what's best
Medium should be the default setting, at least I think so
where though? might just be a local thing
robbery tier savings
There's 360 rad Thermaltake sold for $50
Clearance sale
Gonna see whats on clearance tomorrow
more bad news on computer chip availability, I guess Taiwan is experiencing a major drought right now, also related Honda said they are temporarily shutting down production in the United States because of they cant get microchips either
Ryzen 5 3600 32gb ram and Firepro v4800 do good? (5600xt arriving soon)
You should be able to enter the main menu I'm pretty sure. Doubtful about playable framerates in game though
Yeah but you won't be able to access settings, too much work for your PC 😔
once the 5600xt arrives should I be fine?
yeah you'll be fine
I mean, lol idk
. . . people buy stereo systems for gaming?
am I just too small brained to understand or something?
ya tbh I don't really like having my hunks on my head
A lot of gunfire heard from a subwoofer in a neighborhood
Get fined for disturbing peace because you played Aim Lab
i have a stereo in my 4.0 surround for my desktop.
the spacial audio is quite nice.
although, for most loud games i have them off.
my fR speaker has a headphone plug that i can use to quickly quiet down my setup
Play GTFO with loud surround sound
Wake up a sleeper
Sleeper screams
Hear more screams from outside
an average lunch hour at the scp facility
Now jokes aside about subwoofers, we obviously know he'll be using it for hardbass
Nah
Playing games without headphones would be rather hampering for me
Ma immersion
Especially in FPS. Hearing other players walking or something sneaking up on you.
You can actually set up something to work similar to headphones
Plus it'll be loud as shit so you can hear it all 😎
Lies
I mean yeah
of course they are
you dont put in surround sound because its easier, lol, you put it in because it sounds amazing
RTX waiting club
dont even know why I said that
especially considering how I just bought a 2k turntable +speakers

I need to stop impulse buying expensive music equipment
maybe Id have fixed my PC by now LUL
Im victim of that aswell. Mostly with headphones and amps and such
Gotta stop drooling over spicy deals in forums
me and my brother are both guitar addicts, ye
although he sold all his pedals for some extra cash + bought a line6 HX stomp
Every day im looking at this pile like "was it worth it"
What is IRQL Not Less Or Equal?
a bluescreen error
But what is it typically caused by?
nah to be real It'd just be nice because if a sound is meant to be bass, it just dampens the main volume
What did it cost you?
Sennheisers are always worth it.
^^^
agreed
Ive had a pair of 598c's for years now
they still sound amazing and have taken quite a beating
The electronics in sennies last for eternity as far as I can tell.
Aune S6 Pro was around 500€, Balanced cable 50€, Audeze LCD2C headphones 550€ dekoni earpads 50€~
That is some serious audio equipment.
I bet that pumps out some great sound quality, far better than my tinnitus ridden ears can hear.
So it costed you everything?
The joke is flying over your guy's head
There is a yes to that answer but it has an asterisk. A lot of the other headsets I've had over the years simply stop working in 6 to 12 months. The quality may be the same but the durability is not.
@abstract kite Well yes but no. Kinda worked my way up to that over the years lol
Yeah from my experience I've gone through countless $20 - $30ish+ headphones and they do end up lasting no more than around 12 months. The longest was a pair that lasted more than 12 months actually, maybe 15 months or so.
Last year I got myself these AKG K240s, not much more actually think I paid like $65. Though apparently many years ago they used to go for a lot more, but I guess their design ended up being cloned so they had decent competition in the sub $40 market; so they had to drop the price tremendously.
In any case I have had clones of it before, and they were good for the money; but suffered the same issues as before. The wire messing up killing one of the speakers, that's how my headphones usually end up after some time. Fortunately the K240s have a replaceable wire that's still quite durable over all.
would it be better to buy a pc or make one?
I plan to make a Pc for a freind
cuase he running on a mac book
and evertime we play rust
it litteral garbage
amrica
sorry for bad english
I see thanks
i think its when your ram sticks get a little bit lose, try putting them back in properly
It happened the moment I tried opening a game.
Everything else worked fine up until I tried playing one of my Steam games.
yea sounds right
as i said just try putting them in again properly and then it should be good
if its not that properly windows
I then reinstalled the graphics driver and so far it hasn't happened again.
ok
And is it true that MalwareBytes does not work with Windows 10?
👁️ 👄 👁️
what
Whenever I tried using the software, it blue screens and gives me the Bad Pool Caller error.
The error occurs on incompatibility with hard- or software or overclocking
Is there a method of finding said incompatibilities?
https://pcpartpicker.com/ has system compatibility system
For measurements on RAM and CPU cooler, plus possibly GPU and case measurements you might need to check that for yourself
This is my really cool, really epic gaymer pc setup 😎 https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Buukman/saved/ksY2mG /s

That's like the last thing I gotta upgrade, and I made it last cause I only got it like 2019 something since mouse broke on me and I just went for 10$ mouse on sale cause lol fuck it
Works fine for me, except the occasional moments when it fucking disconnects for 3 seconds
lol
What mouse doe
Keyboard was a G710 but it was kind of a hand me down (although still better than the G910 which the keycaps were ugh). Was also broken for some keys which aren't like important, but still lol
Searching that gave me some results for http://www.nextwarehouse.com/item/?2930598_g10e
Also that is some pretty hideous mouse 😳
(idk what sketchy ass website this is)
https://www2.razer.com/eu-en/gaming-mice/razer-ouroboros
but it is this one
its fucking www2 razer com
ofc
yea i wouldnt buy anything off of this
Badass 3d view tbh
It's pretty epic that it has so much flexibility to match the right mouse grip for people, but the design to me is still lol for me
tfw g502
I’ve had my mouse like 6 years lol
Still works fine apart from a slightly dodgy middle click
my middle click is dead 😦
Imagine using middle click tbh
Unless you can press it without even scrolling, then imagine scrolling
Middle click works perfectly fine, but wheel scroll is somewhat bad lol
not just moving middle click to literally any other on your mouse.
I just disable scroll for games cause lol
It's dumb
Except if it's gonna be used like for Tarkov's walking speed
Is it possible for a website/webpage to log if a user has opened multiple tabs or windows in a browser like some of those online exam platforms claim to have?
Interesting
I've had one test close out because I alt tabbed to another window
Dunno, I'm not a software geek.
Yea me too 🙂
I was more on the hardware end of things in IT
I am a CS undergrad
is it not fun?
I enjoyed the work, I did not enjoy the companies I worked for. Fortune 100, small single building companies, or regional companies; I did not enjoy the treatment nor the wages.
At the end of the day they all make sure you remember that you are as replaceable as a soldering iron.
most of that crazy tracking is done with the use of javascript, you can disable javascript but unfortunately many websites will not function without it
FSF's stance on javascript is pretty good for a baseline https://www.fsf.org/campaigns/freejs
NoScript addon for firefox is a godsend
Is it worth to trade rtx3080 to rx6900xt?
If you really like ray tracing then yes, 6900xt does support ray tracing, but is extremely limited. 6900xt however does outperform rtx 3080 in some aspects mainly on the gaming side due to latest driver updates. Not really gonna recommend 6900xt if you're using it for rendering.
the novideo 3080 does 59.99999999999999999999999996 FPS in every game, definitely worth over the 6900XT givivng you giiving 6900 FPS
My coworker working for 6 months in the store now wondering how to build a computer and how to do bios
I don't even know how he survived this long here
that or floor sweeping
When he wanted to build a system. He first thought of getting threadripper for gaming with rtx 3080
I'm out of the loop on hardware at the moment. I tend to start learning and researching a bit before I do a build, last time I did that was 2016, please forgive me if I don't know the significance.
Ahh, I see now. The expensive route
Probably never going to use either of those to their best potential, then get upset when it isn't as amazing as he expected.
To be fair the name "Threadripper" is pretty eye catching. "Wow that's gotta be fast, must be great for games and stuff!"
I've been using a 6600K and 1080 since hte 1080 released, it still does everything I need. Occasionally it will hiccup a but when doing CAD work with a complex assembly.
And yeah threadripper is just like "lol cool name must be good
from what I read, it seems like an apt name for what it does; which is parallel processing.
tfw current build is 3770k, gtx 970
Nothing wrong with that if it suits what you need it to do.
Future proofing is silly and overkill is wasteful.
imo
i think he forgot the step of using sandpaper on the bottom to make it smooth again
Ah yes, he did indeed

if an option, try a different cable.
small chance messing around with overshoot or overdrive settings on the monitor might help the situation
i'd say the panel is faulty if it's this bad. Just hoping shuffling the settings around could cushion the issue a bit
are they both MSI MAG line ones? however little I googled it was mostly involving those
possibly trying it on a different machine to see if the issue persists?
it could be a bad connection or a bad cable, try that before blaming the monitor
I think that banner is suppose to move, but you can definately see ghosting/burn in of the previous images. I've seen problems like this before amd I'd try a new cable first as @lilac geyser after that I would check the RAM to see if there is a bad stick.
Always try the cheaper options first
Why? What i can do to fix this?
check and see if steam servers are down
or restart the game
How?
i used to get that error all the time, usually the solution was to wait a minute and try agin
seems like you are still using the beta version of the game
frying more chicken than you could dream of
the instant it comes out it goes in my mouth, sorry bro : (
Microsoft in talks about Discord acquisition for ~10 billion

how long until forced linking of a microsoft account for basic functionality if it goes through?
Skype wasn't just a fad that worn out, it actually regressed in functionality at least in my use cases. Group video got paywalled, server issues more frequent(probably due to popularity, discord runs into that too now), chat history vanishing, local logs frequently deleted.
Skype started running demons
It would use a percentage of your computer power to boost its network even when it wasnt open
People still use skype? I haven't touched it in over 10 years
Well that's conflicting news, if it goes through this means that Discord will no longer be ran by degenerate furries
Id rather the furries run it than a company led by a man who doesnt even know how much a loaf of bread costs
It is a tough choice, degenerate monsters or degenerate monsters.
tfw 10700k beats 11700k
What graphics card would you recommend for playing GTFO
depends on the rest of your system, you want to keep things balanced
also how much fps is good enough for you?
can you be more precise about the CPU? there's at least a couple dozen of those out there
I am currently at school right now using my laptop but I can let you know when I get back home
do you remember the first number of it maybe?
I think it is a 4500
is it a laptop?
It is a desktop but I am not 100% sure what the CPU is
if only for GTFO hitting 40-50 isn't hard, GPU's improved a lot from the GTX 570 days
it's a very rough situation with GPU availability though, a lot of prices are unfairly inflated because of never before seen demand
are you looking to buy used or new? Honestly it would be best to look at what your local stores have available first and filter from that point.
Very big variance from place to place.
going by price alone is tricky because with the demand GPU value got very skewed around
where would I be able to find a used GPU?
try googling in your native language for "selling used stuff" or similar keywords
I don't know what sites for your area could be
oh ok, thanks dude, i really appreciate it

Hey everyone can someone help me? I recently bought a new mouse and it has a button on the right side which acts like a macro for double left click. The button's position is bad and I keep pushing it by accident. I tried some mouse key remapping apps but they don't recognize this button, it registeres as left click and if I remap it my left click also changes. The mouse itself doesn't have any software or drivers it has two more keys which are fine and register as mouse 4 and 5 but I can't figure out how to deal with that
If it's constantly irritating, why not return the mouse? Said it's new, and it sounds like you don't have much of an option without physically altering the button itself at the cost of your warranty.
Yeah unfortunately I bought it online from a local site and they don't take it back it's either changing it somehow or getting used to it
gonna lowkey delete discord if that happens
If it was cheap, why not replace it and bill it as a life lesson.
Well it is cheap enough to just forget about warranty and disable the button physically but I wanted to see if there is some more civilized approach to it
Is it possible to make this into a pc, i need a few new things though
I decided to disassemble my old Laptop because it broke, and i kinda regret that cause i could’ve gotten it fixed
Any parts you would suggest keeping?(I already separated the SSD and the one modification i could from the other part bags)
I don't think you'll get much out of the laptop PCB
A lot of boondoggling. You could have honestly kept the think in the laptop chassis and cooked it all up to a docking station and used it as a desktop.
dumb
just put laptop on desk
ez desktop
For sure someone will say/have already said this unironically
It is possible.
The main thing is, the thing wouldn't turn on, so i've just taken it apart, it also needs a new LCD and stuff, i just don't want to worry about it
you can probably pull it off as a fun project, but honestly I think it would be more hassle than it is worth
Same here i have it’s exact model, and am going to get it, then am going to keep the parts as replacements just in case
@dense wasp When are you going to show your 2021 Home/Office setup
Better clean the coffee machine when you come back to the office since bacteria has been building up in there
my PC randomly shut off last night, like a full power down, no blue screen or anything, it went to reboot and it wouldn't stay turned on, it was like someone was flicking the power switch.. But now this morning, it works 100% fine, no problems..
Could my Power Supply be going bad? Or could it be a more bigger problem?
is your power cord plugged in securely, did you check it?
It's a possibility. First ensure all cables are plugged in. Check if any connectors inside your pc have come loose too. It could also be overheating so maybe try clearing out some dust (if there is) with some compressed air can.
yeah everything is fitted correctly, I actually JUST took my PC apart to clean it from top to bottom, I checked again and everything was secured.. super weird
plug a lamp into the same outlet and keep it on, if the lamp goes out when the pc does, you have a bigger problem
What size of a desk should I have if I want a 3 monitor setup?
At least 1 inch
But I guess just see what the horizontal length is for your monitors and get desk that's about the same or more
And what kind of desk is typically best? Standard rectangle, L shape/corner, or U shape?
@torn ferry my personal thoughts are, the desk must be at least as long (on the axis you wish to place the monitors) as 2.7x the horizontal width of the monitor at minimum for a triple monitor setup. if you use vesa arm mounts, you may basically use any size desk provided the monitors are the same type and that there is sufficient space around the desk for them to exist.
the desk should be the best approximation to the wall it is placed in front of.
L desks to corners, bananas to trapezoidal corners, if there is no corner of the room near where you want to have usable desk space, then standard rectangle
I feel if I want an L shape desk that also has 30 inch depth, I am losing usable space.
keep in mind, you want the monitors to the furthest depth usually, so subtract 10 inches for your usable space
if you put the monitors in the middle, subtract 20 inches of depth
if you have arm mounts, add 7 inches only subtract 3-4 inches
you must make a decision to whether you want your tower on the desk or on the ground
I don't know if I want it on the ground to prevent my cats from jumping onto the top vent since they like to do that often, or keep it on the desk for aesthetic.
if you have the tower on the desk, youll need to add about 40 inches for it to not look weird
or be a topple hazard.
desk will also need to be stronger and or secured to the wall
which is reccomended if you dont use monitor arms
I can't find a cart that fits the case.
I use a Lian Li O11-Dynamic XL.
I'm considering custom building the desk and having a shelf for the tower to sit on.
And I also don't know if I should buy the same identical monitor as the one I have now, for the other two monitors. Since the price of the monitor has doubled since when I first bought it.
as long as the dimensions are the same it should be fine
greatly mismatched monitors can work, but they might look weird
color is also important to the aesthetic
And I'm sure I shouldn't downgrade from 1440p to 1080p just to save money on monitors.
i personally use 1080p, but most of my friend will do a higher res as the main monitor, and a lower res on the secondary monitors
And only use the higher resolution monitor for games?
but if you intend to be doing silly things like playing a game across all 3 they should be the same.
yes, correct.
It's dry globally. And prices swing in stupid ranges depending on area. Hard to help you.
Can you list some of the options from your available stores?
easier to point out the best value option
Good luck
Even used cards like the 5700XT are being asked for double or triple original MSRP
I should have gotten one instead of this monitor but alas 👀
Back in November when the prices were fine
The only way to get an actual GPU is to buy a pre-build sadly
Or buy from a scalper, but I wouldn't recommend that.
I'm tempted myself. God I want a new GPU.
I know

Harder

?
I just got that and I hate you now xD

This is what you get if you pay for the cheapest delivery option which takes ages to deliver
200K* smh
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPjm5E5-HOk Remember when Gabe was in a cooking ad
Did he cook with steam?
the extra just moves where it is needed
gotta reach those VRM's and brush up against the RAM heatsinks for max effectiveness
Funnily that would still work just fine
I mean if the mobo had GPU + Ram sticks already in place so it does not block them

11600K is not bad at all for gaming
till it hits anything related to production and video editing
started getting those today too, accepted them 3 times within the steam client already
"we dont use many cookies, only the right amount to track you"
I had to start opting out of the steam hardware survey after they also started collecting information about the software you had installed
That tracking shit is really getting on my nerves.
That seems to be the trend for i5s
<@&408548765599793173>

I apologize for posting that picture of linus yesterday. As a community let us come together to try to forget that video ever happened and let the healing process begin.
Funny thing is he actually profited so much from that venture lmao
He earned about 10K ish
Probably even more now lol
without killing hardware
Around 20 3070s, 15 3080s and 10 3090s in the server room. Nope, no videocard sorry scalpers and miners
Give me one
I am totally not a scalper
I was just doing business
Putting on earpads on any Audiotechnica is like you become god
no thats how its supposed to look
you beat solitaire?
normal reaction to dabbing acid
Linus kinda cringe in general
He use to be respectable, what happened.
There's still "Steve From GamersNexus" which is just about GPUs, CPUs, coolers, cases afaik
He's more about just overall showing performance, specs, showing any benefits
Ye that's about the best from him
what's with LTTs un-descriptive video titles and thumbnails that aren't from the video? I'm talking about examples like "It's time." or "I've always wanted to try these"
yes
Click bait
its like dude, you have millions of followers, you are going to get clicks. yeah you might gain a few new follower with the clickbait, but you are alienating your core audience
the sad truth is, clickbait gets ridiculous results. Once they see the data with and without it, you start trying to justify it happening.
maybe, but they dont seem to consider the long term consequences of the people who may look past it for a while, but eventually get sick of it
that aspect gets washed out beyond a certain size for sure
numbers keep looking similar or on the rise, so it seems okay
i'm not a fan of it, but I can see where they're coming from. With all the growth it's kinda expected. Soul of the channel is similar, but different
I love unlock, I've never seen an ad with that.
Yes I blame autocorrect
Last I checked Twitch has been doing all it can to thwart adblockers
Not that I care much about Twitch though anymore, their TOS is shit, their staff is cringe, their rules are never equally enforced, its gone to hell in a handbasket with the ads too. Pre-roll ads for live streams is just miserable, at least on Twitch
Like half the time the player ends up breaking, you refresh and get the ad again
Or it bugs and plays continuous ads and you never get to the stream.
kek
Not much you can do about the ads on twitch, sadly. It irritates me to no end
Twitch automoderates some really dumb things like trap.
I understand why, but for fucks sake there are not a lot of usable synonoms
Poddy is tempted to get oculus quest 2 for vrchat in return to give fb. my info

Nah seriously, they just had a major data leak. Names, email, phone numbers for 500 million people.
Twitch made an optional middleground with ads. Streamers have to make manual ad breaks long enough and they can bank pre-roll and mid-roll random ad immunity. Think the max is 90 minutes for 3 minutes of ad time or something like that.
The people that don't do that hurt their channels with pre-rolls because most people leave the stream if they get hit with one.
As someone who actually uses the site, it's not as rampant as people make it out to be. I had to scroll 3 full pages to find 1 yoga stream in Just Chatting. Which isn't exactly against the rules, but it's also rare enough if you don't look for it.
shameless stuff doesn't last. There's some leeway for people skirting the line, but staff patience isn't eternal
i got tired of scrolling to find 10 cleavage streamers. 6/300 in Just Chatting
half of those were workout streams.
I don't really see much issues with letting someone have comfortable clothes if they don't pose or do the writing names bent over thing. Sexuality not being the focus in most cases is fine. The questionable ones get reported and noted for potentially making cases or previous intent.
it's kind of grown into a collection of communities. People want to see their favourite streamer do collabs or workout or cook or whatever as long as it's made into a show or a hangout/talk.
actual streamers are terrified of bulges or showing glimpses of feet etc.
Because that is very actionable
I had a good laugh when a gun review channel started mirroring their videos on a porn hosting site because youtube were being cheeky twats.
twitch would hate to categorize into mature content because of ad reasons + potential blacklisting on parental controls etc. missing out on amazon prime pie from kids
youtube is pretty aggressive with that sort of thing, even if it is entirely on the level, they will yoink your ads if it is the least bit questionable
i find it very difficult to find softcore porn here, but then again I'm not looking for it. Maybe via highlights on bursts of occasional controversy. I understand it's possible to skirt that line, but usually those channels fizzle out quick.
Partly due to Twitch not letting it slide forever, partly due to communities like that being short lived.
I honestly don't really see many ads on twitch. The folks I watch are all pretty small time, 20 people or so. Also I use a lot of ublock and noscript. I love those.
I'll get an ad on joining a stream sometimes, and that's it.
noscript is pretty great with filtering junk out too, but it can be a hassle to learn to use it properly
I usually watch passively while doing work.
I don't do any of that money thing.
I keep 2 windows of streams on pretty much all day. Unmute whenever there's a dull moment, check on it if it seems interesting. Kind of like TV was used in most places
there's all kinds of streamers. Some less shameless than others. Some very reserved, no text to speech etc.
Some refusing sponsorships completely out of principle to maintain better streamer to viewer trust.
I have no problem with people earning their daily bread like that. It is their life.
I fail to see how it is objectifying if it is something they entered into willingly. They made their choice and if others don't like it, then they can go pound sand.
Sounds like you've seen a youtube compilation of some bad apples and think they're free to do that with no repercussions. The situation evolved on several occasions and it's improving steadily.
If the stream focus is deemed even vaguely sexual, they get shut down.
so should they be booted for just looking good?
I find it silly that guys would throw money at girls for attention then get upset when they weren't noticed. There is no obligation for her to notice you when you hand her money so temper your expectation.
they stream not being sexual, if the viewer is delusional, how is that twitch's fault?
twitch takes a cut of money exchanged across their service, aka bits and subscriptions.
and suckers are delusional about what it means to give someone money for nothing
I pity those guys to be honest, how lonely and awkward must you be to resort to that.
You can't help someone if they aren't willing to help themself. That was the hard lesson learned when a family member got hooked on narcotics and ruined their life.
The internet really is a lonely place, it brings people together and divides them further apart at the same time.
The individual has to be willing to help themself, the circumstances that brough them into drug addiction are irrelevent as over coming those issues is part of recovery. But it is hard and painful and a lot of work. A person can't go through that successfully unless they are willing to go all the way.
If they are not willing to work to help themself, then no amount of external help will ever work. The problem will never be resolved and they will always relapse hard, if they even bother to break their usage.
You can't force help upon those unwilling to receive it.
There is a way out, there always is. But the person has to be willing to work for it and stick with it no matter what.
I feel you. I have a chronic health issue that causes me a lot of misery and suffering. I can empathize
it always helped to keep in mind other people's POV's
If they don't have anything concrete, they'd be spitballing otherwise. Which isn't exactly desired either
