I had the same headphone, and when I upgraded to AMD, meaning I switched my mobo of course, it made a whole boatload of difference than before the change
or maybe some audiotechnica's just for reference sake
I had the Z270 for my 7700K, so it was alright lol
interface acts as a dedicated soundcard so that takes care of that also
onboard sound on mine is lackluster
which is why I'd rather use the interface and save my headset for PS4 haha
yeah now there's so much back and forth da/ad conversion you can't tell haha
headphones will sound decent on one thing then be totally different on another
yeah past $100 you're paying for certain qualities or applications
^
cryo has bad ears
And yet I can still hear you fucking up the scouts
Speaking of money..
Brb gonna blow the dust and spiderweb out of my wallet
Money is evil. Why would I wanna keep it near me
To buy a better GPU?
Got my kidneys for that
I haven't fucked up a single scout
because nobody lets me go after them :c
@past crescent say no balls and rush them
@past crescent HD202, they were like $30 couple years ago
had a set of HD200 Pro after that but fucked the cable on em
My cpu revs to 100% usage when loading into maps
I mean its a 6 core processor so idk hwhy it would do that
Also the lower down in the rundown the longer it stays at 100
Finally scored a 3070 FE from Best Buy today.
anyone know am4 waterblock that doesn't suck ass and is in stock
heatkiller IV is unobtanium
yeee need help?
how the FUCK can literally all AM4 blocks be out of stock
it's either threadripper or LGA15XX
i crave inhuman levels of violence
the one fucking time I need my PC back up and running asap
this shit happens
ok found one in stock, gonna also need some decent pump/res combo
any recommendations
thanks covid, really nice of you!
I'm gonna need to redo the whole loop in different diameter tubing too because the one diameter I need is out of stock FUCKING EVERYWHERE
corsair also has some good stuff where you can configure it in semi auto pilot
that also has shipping/out of stock
unfortunately
gonna need new tubing + fittings
so probably 300 flat
alphacool is mad funny and used 12.7/7.6mm tubing
lol
I haven't done custom water cooling yet
I am experienced with PC building, not just for gaming
does your halo thing technically count as an asshat?
Nice :)
Thanks.
Tell how it be doing
Wait, me?
I had to use multiple stock drop servers to get the stuff I needed before it sold out.
Oof.
(Don't know why it replied to the first comment.)
Anyway, the people in those servers were awful.
Lmao damn
I got banned from two of them for simply being in other stock drop servers.
So you were monitoring the live updates for literally any RTX 3000 GPU
Pretty much.
Were you gonna get anything else or no?
A bot would post when they drop.
I'm still trying to get a PS5 and possibly debating getting a Series X, but I'm not sure.
Already got a 5900x from Amazon a few weeks ago.
Oh nice
Oh, and for non-scalper prices.
There was an Australian that got a 5950X and a few other stuff
Of course it’d be non scalper. Paying it for more than its msrp is dumb
Unless your life depended on it 😔
I mean, some people are desperate and will buy anything for any price at this point.
People put up scalper listings on Amazon and those get bought up all the time.
It's a shame, really.
But now 3rd-party GPU manufacturers are raising the prices of their cards due to the tariffs.
What servers ? May I ask ?
I DM'd the names to you.
They really don't deserve any recognition in a public chat because 1) their notifications suck and 2) they banned me for being in a similar server. LOL
Also, I pick up my 3070 on Saturday.
i was gonna cop a 3080
but seeing the clown fiesta going on
think I'll wait until 4000 series

I don’t know if I’m bad at cable management, but mine is a pain in the ass to route cables through.
yeah, now you know why potatoes are some of the cheapest foods on the planet..
in the poisonous nightshade family
sweet potatoes are less alien tho...
those "eyes" are about 200x as poisonous as the potato plant itself is...appx.
or maybe more up to 2000x
plants have what are known as LECTINS in them...
ehhhhhhhhhh , those are the way they reproduce you can eat them too
Apples themselves aren't, but the seeds kind of are. Though to humans you would have to consume thousands of seeds or something to have any effect I think
i cannot wait for the painful event of having to disembowel my entire PC, drain and redo the tubing and then put it back together and bleed
preferably not frying anything in the process
should have probably included a drain valve in the loop but oh well

bruh
honey, its time for your yearly 14nm refresh
Should never be like this smh
no post
"oops forgot to plug in DP cable haha"
“Oops forgot to turn on the PSU”
"Oops, forgot to plug in the GPU."
You gotta use mustard instead.
No, that makes mustard gas
🤨
thought Id see if anyone else has this issue
here are my specs for reference:
i7 6700k
GTX 1070
32 gb ram
For some odd reason I get jittering in the menu and very rarely in-game. But for some reason I can fix it by changing one of my graphics settings without even confirming the change
Not really a huge trouble. And my frames say they are 100+ when it happens. just strange
Are your drivers up to date?
I've got a weird issue with my PC. It turns on and seems to run fine, but it wont send any signal to my monitor. Is the video card screwed? Everything else seems to be running fine
check if it's the good'ol
@idle sphinx Seems to run fine isn't a good enough description of the problem. Are you getting the proper post codes (beeping or the hexcode on your motherboard)? You may also want to cancel out which is broken. Test your computer on a different monitor.
I've heard of one sided cables, not sure about details so try switching the ends. GPU end to the monitor and monitor end to the GPU.
Could take a look at monitor input modes too, to make sure it's on HDMI/DP or whichever cable you're using.
Just throwing ideas around
One way cables are mostly found on powered display cables (like the marseille cables), or repeaters. Both of which are very uncommon on a normal setup.
I did try testing on another monitor. Nothing. By seems to run fine, I mean nothing is overheating, the lights are running, fans are running, it just isnt sending a signal. I'm not a huge computer nerd, but I'll try what you said
Cables are all good. They were the first things I checked
Sounds like a power supply issue to me. Its very ironic that the computer turns on, lights, fans and all. But when a power supply voltage is below spec output thats one of the symptoms.
I'll take a look at that too.
If you have a buddy with a spare power supply, or knows how to use a multimeter. Have them check your power supply.
I wish I had my toolkit with me, but I left it at school, big F.
If I take a pic of my PC's insides, could you help me identify stuff? I want to make sure I have the identity of all the parts right
Sounds cool
If you built the PC yourself, you might have enough skill to "re-seat" every component. This is the first thing I do when something goes wrong.
Unplug and replug everything, or give it the good ol wiggle.
It is custom built, but my friend built it. I do mostly larger scale engineering i.e. architecture
I might get him to take a loot as well
I see, then you definitely need to wait for your buddy.
no post code beeps?
I was wondering what your views are on this monitor.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/HP-Display-Full-Monitor-Stand/dp/B07CPCHSV5
Im not very well versed with monitors so I was hoping for some tips and recommendations.
seems like a pretty standard IPS panel
60hz 5ms gtg
seems alright if not particularly outstanding in any way
@ocean coral like I said, I'm a n00b when it comes to monitors, I dont really know that that means
60hz, as in the monitor refreshes 60 times per second (i.e. "displays 60 fps" if that makes any sense)
its the standard maximum refresh rate for most monitors but more competitive players would be looking for a higher refresh rate, which i assume is what the colonel meant by you not caring about it
It's like the other say a simple monitor. It's affordable, supports 1080p resolutions which is more than plenty. 60 hertz refresh rate equals to a maximum of 60 fps.
If you got a bit more to spend I suggest that you look for 144 hertz refresh rate or High Dynamic Range (HDR) support for a super crispy display.
If you don't know any of terms I listed just search them on wikipedia
im ok with 60fps max, im trying to keep the price down since Imma go for a dual monitor setup, might look into hdr tho since ive seen it before and its amazing
i never noticed how much liquid metal messed up the IHS
I can see the pixels
heres a silly question
is the 3900xt & x570 compatible with gt710
asking because i dont have a rtx 3000
yes but why would you ever do that
because i dont have an rtx 3000
its going to be the fastest computer with like the slowest gpu
lmfao
710 is office tier gpu you could put a core2quad in there and it's be gpu bottlenecked still
ha.. office tier gpu
how much fps do you think ill be running on desktop?

bruh 710 is legit not even suitable for workstation use it's hot garbage idk why you'd buy it
okay
i need help
stormpooper sent me here
i have a baseline pc
and dont know if it can run this game okay
i can give the specs
any help on recommended graphic settings?
It's dark in the dungeon, can't see anything a ways.
guess im stuck with shit graphics till i can afford a decent gaming desktop
use like geforce now or something for gtfo
that’s what gravity uses on his laptop and that was the tag earlier
thanks
im gonna be saving up for a gaming desktop thats 900 dollars
so i'll let you know when i get the beast
but for now
i thank you for the advice
Those are your specs for intergrated graphics. It does get close to the required 660 GTX according to #system-specs but intergrated graphics processing is always slower than a GPU. If you get a graphics card that is better than a GTX 970 you will generally enjoy way better graphic performance - not just for games.
shoot me for other questions
@abstract kite thanks for the advice
but for now, im just gonna stick with what i have, until i can afford a decent gaming desktop
ight 👍
People be like “noooooooo why buy gtx 710?????” When clearly it would be that he must already own it as no one would even think to buy a 710 with a high end CPU
why spend money on a stopgap
im just gonna buy, the base line pc from the place M16 recommended, which is 850$
but i'll have to save up alot
but i also have another thing, because my dad works at cisco, he could pull some strings and find me a decent desktop that can run them
sounds like a plan
what is the point of the gt 710
Office pc GPU
office pc or HTPC if you dont plan on doing high resolution content
was it really neccesary to delid your cpu?
Geeze, and I thought realigning the pins was bad.
that's the GPU
same shit
i remember how to install a cpu
electricity goes in and thing goes brrrrr
had it disassembled anyway so thought why not peek under and see how the liquid metal is holding up
good thing I did
used a bit too much last time and it started pooling up at the edges
I never did that stuff with my GPU. Mostly because Liquid Metal reacts with some metals, and I couldn't be arsed to relearn which, or which alloys my GPU had, etc, just to make sure it doesn't fudge itself.
haha nickel go nom
I'd actually learn that properly, and not just guides. Isn't super difficult, but neither easy.
it's a royal pain in the ass but worth it imo
50c @ full load
hoping to get into low 40s after I get the replacement pump installed
only 10x more flow rate
Hey guys, I have been having an issue lately with my game, seems to have only started since I formatted my pc. Basically GTFO randomly stutters (seems to occur when theres more enemy moving/ spawning) where my frames drop from 100+ to around 20-30 (but in reality its 0 from what I can see it completely freezes) and my audio cuts out during the stuttering. I can't seem to find anything helpful online and was hoping I could get some help here. My system specs are i5-8600K, gtx 1080 a8g rog strix, 16Gb 3000mhz trident z memory. Any ideas would be appreciated.
check something like msi afterburner
does gpu utilization drop to 0 during those stutters
Run GTFO 'windowed' with task manager in the background
I have 2 monitors so I can just have it on the side
one moment loading into the rundown now
load in A1 and clear the rooms until the first blue security door @dire tundra
what you will do essentially is benchmark
you should also set CPU Culling to small
ok ill try to see if this does the trickj
ill hear from you
did you update GeForce drivers?
yeah i did a steam file back up and moved it back onto my pc after formatting it
i also did a verify game files and it still does it
hdd
ah okay
So NTFS is based from File Allocation Table (FAT). It knows where to find what file because of the table it uses
This is important to know because GTFO might be installed where an old table collides with eachother
its plausible that could be the case, so reinstalling could fix the issue
ok my internet is really slow so I wouldnt be able to tell you until tomorrow
I see
so just a steam uninstall and reinstall should do it
I hope
I can't say for sure for everyone I help here because it's 1000 times easier to fix it just by seeing the pc self
if you havent done the reinstalling hold onto it a while
there is 1 more setting you should try
@dire tundra
I still have it on my system
ok its on now
ight
give the game a shot
vertical sync is made to fight stuttering
also set your target FPS equal to your monitor refresh rate
any better?
one sec still testing it did it in the menu i think hard to tell cuz nothing was moving
still doing it
can you enable your FPS counter in the settings and check if it are frame drops
it is shown as a number on the right below corner
If it isn't frame drops and stutters, check your background apps if they are doing something. If possible close as many programs as possible and check if that will work
no enemys spawned lol I have to run it again
okay
by any chance can you tell if stutters happen at certain events during the gameplay?
i think it happens when a lot of enemies spawn
ok it hasnt done the stutter in the last 2 runs
ok i think its good its kinda hard to be 100% sure
@abstract kite
ive done 3 runs and havent had a stutter
ok im going to run it one more time and I think its good fingers crossed
hopefully it stays smooth. hf with gaming
aye
Smh homeless dude stole 3100
😔
Lmao just save money for a good pc
It's hard to get a good PC when everything is selling out.
It's nice to see this in my task manager though.
And it's a FE card because it's the cheapest.
nice, 3070 gaming
Hey y’all I’ve got a puzzle here that could cost a lot of money if I solve it wrong
So today I was getting no signal from my pc, so I decided to reinstall my ram with the psi disconnected.
Then when turning it on again I got a pop sound and smell of smoke that has since disappeared.
Now my rgb ram won’t light up, my motherboard light is stuck on DRAM, and my pc will turn on but won’t boot up 🥲
My build is an
MOBO: ASUS Z390 Prime Series
CPU: Intel I9-9900K
Nvidia RTX 3070
Corsair Vengance 2x16 rgb ram sticks
PSU: Corsair RM850x
I can literally speak from experience, my ram died that way too
@late sorrel thanks fam! If so this’ll be the third mobo I go thru (my first one my friend put thermal paste in the cpu slot)
same ram sticks :=<
see if you can test w/ your friends sticks, in the other slots
Implying my friends will give me their ram lol
you could get one of your friends to test your ram, that’s what I did
Thank u for the help tho, you saved me cutting my hand trying to get this psu out of my case
It was disconnected from the mobo when I put it in
Then I connected, powered on to run it, and the only thing on on or spinning was the ram
did you disconnect your psu from the wall
I pulled the cord from the psu
Like
Here’s my steps
- Pressed power button to turn off computer
- Flipped switch on psu to turn it off
- Removed plug from psu
- Reinstalled ram
- Plugged cord back in psu
- Flipped switch on psu back on
Pressed button to turn pc on
hmm
(I’m just trying to think if your psu caused a surge to kill your ram, or if your ram wasn’t seated right)
the thing is, you’re stuck between a rock and a shit place
best case: your ram wasn’t seated right and only your ram is dead
ram & ram slots are dead
ram and mobo are dead (poss cpu as well)
your psu is fucked, and killed your ram
and worst case, your psu fucked everything
Wait
Were your gpu fans spinning?
at the end
with your whole build powered on
Luckily, a lot of the time the mobo’s will take the hit and the rest of your build is okay
I’m personally guessing your ram is definetly fucked, and your psu is a question mark
Glad to hear, but when you flip the switch off the psu hit the power button of your PC once to flush out all power. It's another safety step
yeah discharge the capacitors or funny things happen
Id just get an old pc from the sidewalk to test shit on
Btw does anyone know an x570 motherboard with 2x usb c
Just for folks to know,
Ryzen 3500
16gb 2666ghz ram
GTX 1650 Super
Plays it on high, 115fps average.
graphics are overrated, performance is where its at
wrong, I want to bonk heads and have a lot of blood come out of it
if having ram issues, pehraps check ram voltage
not all mobos and ram are built equal and will work nicely with default settings
where do you check ram voltages????
HWMonitor is a good program to use.
Wait, never mind. It shows RAM temps, but not voltages.
Headers
Funny thing tho ive never used pc part picker with my gamimg rig
Recommend me a good ( not overpriced ) water cooler without RGB if it's possible. Will be used for 9900kf stock
One important thing - quiet...please life
A quiet watercooler? Do those exist? I've heard those things are all pump noise
Some forest spirits said they're more quiet than air coolers
idk I had a full water loop and the loudest noise from my pc was gpu coil whine
get a 360 AIO, preferably something with strong pump and turn down the fans to 900rpm
dead silent
Im thinking for what im gona do for my pc is an pump for a fish tank those usualy run quiet
good evening to everyone except the person that designed am4 cooler bracket
well looks like my parts aren't getting here anytime soon so this gotta do
about as ghetto as it gets
any clues when it'll be a good time to look at getting a new pc
ur cable management is still better than mine XD
Anyone running a 3080 on 1440p for the game? I can only seem to get 120 fps
You’re also gonna have to wait for BTC to crash again
They love shitting on prices for GPUs
yeah wait for btc to crash
I has a question
It probably won't be until June when we see prices start to restabilize.
Why does minecraft run at. 18 frames when I bought a 3060 ti
Minecraft is super unoptimized.
Yup.
@errant ferry mine sticks at 120 fps also. 2060S
Though I thought minecraft was more cpu heavy (unless you're running rtx or shaders then your gpu will also matter). Lower your chunk rendering distance to get a boost in fps. Heard if you're playing on fabric minecraft you can run Sodium to get a lot more fps.
minecraft is cpu sided
But if you're using shaders... The gpu is used like ehem rtx on, BSL and other realistic shaders...
i would have played minecraft, but java is verboten on my system
I’m just not going to pay for Minecraft
Mostly cause it’s so utterly boring and unfun personally
All my friends have been torturing me for years now to come and play it and i wont
Same for among us and falls guys lol
True
Playing Minecraft comes down to what kind of server you are getting yourself into. I've seen a scary one, RLcraft or a server with guns and different mobs, another can be more rpg like. You can do a lot because of the mods that are always coming out (for the java version that is).
if it isn't 1.7.3 beta I want absolutely none of it
Minecraft is overrated :))))
im using a cpu i3 10100f gtx 1660ti 16gb 2666 ram . the question is why my pc only run 80% on cpu and my gou only run under 40%
I play minecraft as my fall back game if I have nothing else to play
For what game/application?
i have try battlefield 1 dark souls 1 resmastered, and 2
high cpu % and low gpu %
I would think these games would be more GPU intensive... Did you have the task manager open while running those games?
no
What did you use to see the usage of your cpu and gpu then?
I use the MSI afterburner overlay
msi afterburner too
i3 10100f
Should be pretty decent

@zinc isle How's your fps though?
on battlefield 1 like under 30fps
im just tested satisfactory and it is running smothly
does uninstall and resinstall the gtx 1660ti driver help anything
Some versions are more stable than others...
I usually just stick with the most updated

It was chrome killing the fps so back to use opera
someone please smack me with a bat next time i will want to go amd
I only bought ryzen because intel is clowning itself with 14nm
and i still regret it
not gonna lie in the 10 years or so i've been using computers
AMD has always meant endless troubleshooting
and nothing changed
haha yes
F5 > optimized defaults
50c in bios, 1.45v

every single piece of AMD hardware has been nothing but headaches
intel/nvidia just work out of the box
idk but when I cannot use optiimzed defaults because I'm reaching 60c idling on desktop
something isn't right
let's not talk about AMD drivers because the only way to fix that heap of shit is to scrap them entirely and rewrite with actually competent programmers
reinstall windows, completely fresh install, first boot
amd drivers won't install
give up and reinstall it again
drivers install first try
??????
so you have to tweak the system iso to get drivers to work correctly?
quality software
back when I had AMD R7 every graphics driver reinstall was a dreaded 2 hour fight
yeah and it's been a major reason I avoid AMD as a whole
their management software/drivers is just on a whole another level of broken
and that's coming from someone using autodesk products
well i had more issues in one year with this goddamn ryzen than I had in 6 years of using intel
I've had minimal issues, no issues with the cpu. I did go through a motherboard that gave me problems but that was the motherboard, and gpu wise it's also been fairly minimal. The most recent problem I had was display port messing up and not working with my new monitor, had to wipe drivers twice
Personally I think it's a windows thing though, the problem both times occurred when windows would put the pc to sleep automatically after 2 hours
fresh amd build. no issues at the moment.
I think you only got unlucky this time. It really can’t be that bad
Runs great on my setup, max settings:
Ryzen 7 3700X
EVGA RTX 2060 KO 6 GB
G.Skill TridentZ 16 GB (2x8) DDR4-3600
Asrock X570M Pro4 MicroATX Mobo
Sabrent Rocket 4.0 M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen4 1TB
Capped and stable at 60 FPS, running at 2560x1080
We also run it on my wife's PC, too, with no issues, max settings:
Core i5-4690K
MSI GTX 970 4 GB
Corsair Vengeance 16 GB (4x4) DDR3-2133
Asus Z97-K/CSM ATX Mobo
Samsung 850 EVO 250GB
Capped and stable at 60 FPS, running at 1920x1080
my previous build was an rx 480 4gb and 6500. i played GTFO i think in 2018 and it did not run too well. current build is absolutely thrashing
I get at least double the frames out of my 3070 than I did with my 1070.
Ignoring the dumpster fire that is the RTX 20 series, the price/performance definitely feels like more of an improvement over the 10 series.
Assuming MSRP, it's ok. But I don't think I've seen them go anywhere close to that
Easier to find them go for 2x rather than MSRP
Oh, yeah, I meant at MSRP.
I got my 3070 FE at MSRP from Best Buy, so it definitely feels like an improvement.
I got an gtx 980 m laying around
How can you buy a video card like 3070 at the price more than 1000$?? Lol
In our country current price is 1100€
This people are dead inside. How the hell you can put a so big price when regular salary is around 300€.
Can't understand this world.
thats covid pandemic for ya
Hey guys,
I have an #issue what is my pc is get a black screen and the gpu vent goes to max. So I can’t do nothing but restart the pc.
This happens randomly while I play on gtfo.
Any idea guys?
this
@abstract kite what videocard are you using?
Rx580 4gb
Is it a heat issue? Have you tried air dusting out the gpu?
I've seen some fans that were packed with hair, tobacco tar, and dust to the point it looked like a rat nest.
his problem is already solved, see #gtfo-technical-support
Oof, power issue will do it too
Guys, is it really expected for a RX 6900XT to reach 95 degrees?(when working at 100%)
seems to reach 80ish C in gaming tests, so if you're mining or have a poorly ventilated case could be possible
i have RX5500, junction temp gets over 100c sometimes.
if its junction temp yeah 90s should be normal.
amd stated 105c to 110c is "normal operating temperature" for 6700
Yeah, I was reading it wrong, the actual GPU was reaching 80 at max, it was the 'junction temp' that reached almost 100
the junction temp is actually jsut the hottest spot on the GPU....
junction temp supposidly can hit 105-110 amd says. i dont particularly like that.
i have mine slighlty underclocked when i play games that hit that temp.
i have 1 game, where the junciton hits 107c-108c, and it actually fucks up. i get lines on my screen and stuff. have ot reboot.
im going to put better thermal pads and paste on soon... it did it with stock pads and paste, and then i put some cheap pads and paste on and it still does it... going to try higher end stuff... i think amd screwed up by putting the clocks these cards come with, it simply gets too hot.
but yeah.. junction is the GPU's hot spot. so it really is your gpu temp.
if it overheats to the point of artifacting it's basically killing the gpu
that's yikes
Yup.
then there's intel that runs 5.2ghz 100c boost

almost like they're not even trying anymore
well, granted, the game that gets my card hot enough to do that is a poorly ported game on linux.
but it shouldn't do that period
and my rx5500 is a factory overclocked card.
yeah. well, linux games these days are poorly ported.
people rush the ports just to put on steam store "linux support"
yup.
I think poor development in general is more of a standard.
Only because "the devs can introduce bug fixes later on".
It's difficult to play games on linux when everyone flocks to windows and makes the great plan to port lol
alright, look at me I'm back here and this time to not be stupid about computers, but actually ask for advice since I'm a big noob about these
I need to do maintenance on my gaming computer, it has this water cooling thing, probably needs a change on the paste? idk, but what products are recommended for a general idea of what I gotta do to keep this bad boy clean again?
Changing paste is mostly a meme. Air dust your case and fans, call it a day.
huh, thx, nothing else to do with the water cooling either?
it's been without use for a good while, 4, 5 months so I expect only dust tbh
changing paste is absolutely not a meme
changing it every time you dust your PC off is
generally you'd want to swap it when you notice performance drop or every.... dunno, two years?
oh then it should be fine still
I just like changing it more often because then you don't risk the cooler getting stuck
the paste on my old 770 has turned into glue after 5 years, I was afraid of breaking the board while trying to separate it
Use isopropyl alcohol in a squeeze bottle to lose the paste.
or change the paste every now and then, it's really not that hard and comes with a temperature drop
Unless it's a custom cooling setup, the AIO variants go for a long time
Do you change the paste on your bridges?
you mean motherboard southbridge?
never had to, it didn't heat up enough to warrant replacing it on any motherboard I ever owned
I'm not sure if my old board even had any under the heatsink
I think they are down to a single bridge now, distinguishing between a North and south is moot.
old habits die hard
Indeed
I say it is a meme because it is chasing diminishing returns. For most people, especially average users, the marginal improvement is negligible and the potential for unintended damage is higher.
eh fair enough
I'd argue that anyone willing to blow money on a high end gaming rig is not an "average user"
It is an unpleasant and expensive lesson. You'd be surprised.
how do you mess up applying paste though
well aside from unintentionally using conductive one
and shorting something
Hamfisting around in the case, accidental esd, improper esd grounding.
Hell, even bad luck. I shorted a pci test bed once because a metal fiber drifted between two pins.
if you don't feel comfortable poking in the case why would you attempt doing it in the first place
at this point just bring it to a computer store for mainteance
Which is why I advocate to generally leave the paste alone. If you know what you are doing, or have deep pocket books, then I will be ignored. But the unconfident and ignorant might develop a bit more caution.
i mean it's common sense
don't tinker with things you aren't confident about especially when there's expensive hardware inolved
Too long in call centers have taught me common sense is a contradiction.
Heh, back when I started I had a board die on me and bought a replacement with and agp slot instead of a pcie.

Good luck if you had rambus and bought dimm.
And so many jumpers.
Pc building is so much easier these days, less knowledge and more easily accessible. And truthfully, all problems can be resolved with adequate googlefu.
Yeah
Or having to dick around in the bios to fine tune settings.
Or the nightmare it was to flash a bios.
at least the overclocking was simpler
Yeah
and you could buy top of the line GPU for less than $500
Cpus were cheaper too
At least it wasn't like the old kit build days where you had to solder everything. I snagged a couple of those when my college was cleaning out their lockers.
wondering if manufacturers will take note of people buying off scalpers for double MSRP
and change prices accordingly
Maybe, but that sort of thing can bite them in the ass. People do leak the wholesale price.
Get too greedy and your competitor cuts your legs out from under you.
what really boggles my mind is that I bought my 1080 for $400 and I could sell it for $500 now
what the fuck is wrong with people
People are willing to pay for convenience.
Hell, I paid $600 for mine new when it came out.
That is nuts.
I blame crypto miners.
Lol imagine paying $600 for performance you could have at $300 for the longest time in the 2060
And I mean now, not then
But tbh even then it was kinda high in price imo
I suppose I was thinking stock FE performance
Which I think is a better base to compare
mine is also FE
"stock" 👀
could probably squeeze another bit out of it
maxing out power limit with a shunt mod lol
Do it
I wana see it in the top 10 shizz
Btw whats ur timespy score
@gritty timber
havent ran timespy
with a bunch of chrome tabs and shit running in background
i would have to flash custom bios to get anything more out of it
Guys, i've heard that enabling AMD's Smart Access Memory technology voids your warranty. Is that correct?
I know Rage Mode doesn't, not sure about SAM though
That doesn't sound right. Why would they make a feature that they let you enable that will void the warranty
Can never be too sure. XMP voids CPU warranties, but it's a simple yes/no question often unrelated to the actual failure.
ohh it's a form of overclocking it looks like
although i agree with the green person's sentiment I'm staring to think they dont know tech as much as they say
heyyy I haven't been in the hardware side of IT in a long time
oh wow lmgtfy has lost all meaning since they apparently want to be their own search engine now
the end of passive-aggressively linking people to google is here
lol
that's this new vapor chamber phase change cooler thing?
It's the "Air Cooler But Better" I guess
Air Siphon I think, it goes way higher on TDP
And cooling is similar or better to AIO
Yeah the goal was to make a Threadripper build, but the build got delayed due to moving..
But they started getting pretty back ordered and wanted to get it before it got too far back ordered.
haven't moved yet, still in progress
O ok
beginning of february I'll be doing the actual move
good luck with that doc
@void perch is this you? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2BEr6BCg_E
What is the reason that when I log into my computer, Discord opens with me logged in despite that I logged out when I shut down the computer last night?
Does it mean my account is compromised or am I fine?
Maybe because you only closed it and didn't actually sign out
I've had that happen, you leave the discord call... Restart the computer and it puts you back in the call that you left.
Might have to do something with memory
separate your work and personal stuff
reminds me of the 60fps vs 144fps where the 60fps part is blurry
the fps blur reduction isn't too far from the truth. Motion blur is a lot better at higher Hz
as in less noticeable
tech isn't there yet, clearly
There was a guy, who was defended by media, that cranked it to his coworker in a Zoom call.
His defence was "I though it was off" as if that was an excuse.
Hey I need some serious help@with my pc but I’m about to go to bed, when is this chat most active?
it's all over the place. Just ask and people will respond whenever, some read the backlog and reply later too
not guaranteed ofc
Yeah, just ask because it's either dead or alive
And there's only really activity depending on whoever checks in or whatever new stuff regarding the PC market
Or whatever
ew seagate
it failed on me pretty bad unlike wd
a blue?
they make lots of speciality hdd's
for cctv and nas sys
either way looking at that build it's functional and all but where is the style
the motherboard has lights and doesnt match the case
ahh budget
what resolution?
if its 1080p 60 hz you can yeet that 2060ti right out the door
https://nl.pcpartpicker.com/user/G3me/saved/sGK8YJ here is my list from 2018, I kill for red so thats the style I went for
its the rig I use to chat with you as we chat
the nvme ssd I bought for 90
seems expensive
o
and a heat sink
the big red thing is the heatsink
dont bother with the LED ram cuz they are so retarded to configure
they dont
tbf with the 3060 there's just no point upgrading for a lifetime if it were 1080p 60Hz, especially if they decide to upgrade to 1080p 144hz or 1440p 144hz
I run 1080p 144hz with a 1060 rn and it works pretty well
I get 144 fps (capped) in GTFO high
eh guess I underestimate 1080p
the fans were disconnected for a year and I didnt realize until 4 months ago so the card was even deep frying XDD
if you aim for 1080 144 with a 2060 ti you ram that goal in the nuts no problem
my 1060 can handle it, not fully
you even get ray tracing
Unsure what it's like for euro
RT is shit on 2060 tho
Pretty much on most of the RTX 2000/Super lineup
so you search in the NL site as a american?
bruv
that country is small af every single thing considered shipping is on your doormat in a day
I'll change it to finland
If you want true suffering you can find the right reviews for hardware in Tweakers
Since that's where they actually live tbh
so your bud teleported to finland?
no it was meant for another person and I just forgot to change it cause im dumb

So the guy that posted link to pc part list was actually making it for someone else basically
I discourage PC building for now because the expensive part in a game PC is even more expensive
I bought my 1060 for 269
on sale
euro btw
😔
hee hoo
2060 super for 480 euro vs uhhhhhhhhhhhh
600 euro 3060 ti
ass prices as shown by PCPP
I must sleep
my eyes are drying into salt
Is this a good monitor
Curved optix g27 series MSI 2560×1440wqhd 1500r curved 165hz high refresh rate 1ms fast response time wide colour gamut
I was told it was horrid and now I think I wasted money
its a premium monitor, it's value if your PC can perform in 1440p with 165~ fps
It'll stick with you for a while thats for sure
Why
cuz quality
Just try it yourself and see what it's like first if you already had it At least seems like you got it delivered to you
can anyone help with my audio issue
my pc isn't picking up my mic audio at all
i've checked the mic and it still works, my pc recognizes that its plugged in, but it doesn't pick up any audio at all
So i wanted to buy the game for my girlfriend so we could enjoy together but wanted to make sure she could run it with no issues first. She has a gtx 1060 3gb, i7 6700, and 16 gb of ram
should be able too, i can run it no issues with a ryzen 5 2600, gtx 1050 TI, and 16 gb of ram
you should be good
sweet thanks guys!
so anyone know anything about audio issues
the problem is something with my pc
my mic audio just cut off yesterday and i haven't been able to fix it at all
drivers updated?
so u cant talk or u cant hear
have you tried adjusting your decibel in the settings
how would i do that
open sound settings and then click sound control panel
if it helps i think my mic audio cut out when i plugged in my ps4 controller
go to recording in there and then click on your mic
how old is the headset and what brand
detachable mic?
no
hmm have you seen anyone online with the same headset and problems?
no not yet
hmm
i think the mic may be dead i some wierd way
i just tried a different headset and it works alright
but for some reason to onn one's mic still works on my phone
looks like time to but a new headset
so for some reason it still works perfectly fine on my phone, but my pc refuses to pick up the audio
Maybe you could try downloading voicemeeter and using that to see if it will work that way @covert hemlock
ill have to try that
:)
Hey so my PC used to run fine, but then I moved and left it alone for about a month and now it runs for a few minutes and then becomes completely unresponsive, even so I cant turn it off unless I hit the button, even when doing nothing or light stuff. Any tips? I ordered some new thermal paste but I havent tried that yet and I’m considering the same for my cpu if it doesnt work still
(The issue is not the ram as best I can tell)
sounds like you're unsure if it's overheating or not
hwmonitor or hwinfo can read your component temps
I have live info on the temperature, but everything says its running fine and then just... stops working
Like I can open the power menu and click shututdown and nothing happens
Or I can move my character in a game but cant interact with the game or close it or open or close or interact with other apps
Like my computer just turns into a picture with a mouse and says it feels fine
I suggest you check the exterior & interior of your PC and see if you can find any inconsistencies (power cables not fully plugged in, forgot to apply thermal paste on cpu etc) @civic fjord
Ok I need to ask
Is this an okay keyboard?
I was just given it
Can't go wrong with a 55k
might wanna clean it up because thats one dirty keyboarde
yeah the media controls config is pretty similar to the k68
i have a strafe rgb and i dont even use the rgb on it lmao
I have a K95 plat its really good
i think i destroyed the switches on my strafe though
lots of key jitter
couple of the keycap mounts are broken too
nice
For free?
If you can adjust rgb per key I love to add a few effects
There is a k70 and k70 mark2
you got the first?
mk2 low profiel
kk
if its kalled k70 rgb mk2 low profile its rgb
If you have corsair icue you should be able to modify certain settings
i see
corsair also has a ripoff touch bar from apple
ah i see
thats smth I struggle with
k95 plat has """anti ghosting keys"""
so you never have "flukes"
do you have detachable palm rest?
I use the more rigid one
over the soft
ikr, its dusty as fuck, and the guy who gave it to me never cleaned it
its ez to clean really
If I wanted to I can yeet it in the washing machine
i found some cleanex and im wiping it down
the palm rest of course
not the keyboard
i dont have one
Idk how to use these dedicated macro keys though

yes it's missing a fan up front because i'm a dumbass and ordered 140s instead of 120s
sorry i'm not gay
Rgb isnt gay man
it is
no
yes
i game at night 99% of the time i don't need a lightshow right next to me
wonder how hard can I push this card now
Smh you should be gaymer
do it
Yes
I spend a good 4 hours in memtest to find out my ram's XMP profile isn't actually stable 😢
ouch
I'm trying to bring the timings down but it isn't cooperating
aiming for 3600 CL16
Its dumb because the sticks were sold as 2666, but that was only true with XMP on 😢
Yeah it would be, but I hadn't noticed for the first year
And sending it back isnt an option atm, because I need my pc functioning hehe
Its a set of Corsair CMK32GX4M2A2666C16 Vengeance LPX 32 GB
Tried overvolting them a little, no success. But putting them 1 level below 2666 works even at default volt levels :/ so thats where I'm sticking
can't you just loosen timings a tad
nice beer bro
empty :(
too late now
also idk why but the white pieces for me just look 3D printed, might be bc I mainly print on white or red
thats racist
racisms!!!!!!!
I feel devastated..
how we feeling?
Mega Stonks
what's a "problem"? because I haven't noticed anything in my day to day
Steam is down, thus making it impossible to connect to the game after the issue started (around 30 min ago)
so why are the 3000 series cards performing worse than older cards
is it just me or is anyone else having this
hum tell me more cause I wanted to buy a 3070
are you comparing desktop parts to desktop parts?
because the laptops ones might share the name but are a whole different league of performance
^
Although if it is desktop to desktop, you might have bottleneck, or needs updating on drivers, or RAM is shit/doesn’t have XMP
more than enough for email, carry on
If you guys ever watched the Intel upgrade for Dennis like a few days ago, he was actually just under budget
^ video of dennis upgrade
I mean
He sort of has literally no fucking clue
But he's got the spirit
How'd he get a fucking 3080 for 760$ tho
That's such a steal
Imagine paying close to MSRP for something
Yeah lol who pays msrp for anything
I'd pay 3000$USD for a 3090 fuck it
Don't care if it go 15000$USD either, I'm paying for that too
4994
underbudget
:ConfusedUlf:
budget build = likely cheap
a build within a budget = within a certain target
in this case it was 5000$
shit how much heat does ryzen dump under full load
thing just settled at 75c on custom water
i mean I'm running 4.3ghz all cores but what the fuck
