my corsair 850 went like above, it was years old tho
Ye i got fully new pc
I mean it was working the days again. Just randomly today
Rebooted,White light again on vga. Imma reboot again
Bro 😭
Stays at white light
Imma do cmos reset
But like, before i was getting repaired/new ram, it was only one ram stick that caused the issue of not working. The other one was fine... You think it has smth to do with the mhz?
i'd go full safe defaults in the bios after reset, just looked up your manual
cpu red or vga white sounds like something fails to start on poweron
be it frequency or power
Ye i need 3 mins for cmos to clear
u can run most ram at way below their spec, 6400.. go as low as u can, also see if the bios has any monitoring thing for voltages, current draw
could beg just unlucky bad psu from the factory, worked for a week then "broke"
I dont know, i need help then haha. Not much into that
But i got new ram sticks and it was working again
I dont think its the psu maybe
ages ago i had a motherboard that defaulted to very low volts on memory controller when "auto" .. pc crashed all the time.. upped it significantly and rock-solid-stable
yeh, i hope u find it.. might wanna reseat everything that u can without letting water out
sometimes a spec of dust or hair or whatever flies into a slot and let's play the invalid-data or shorted-power-pin game
Im sure it wasnt it
I was making sure there was no hair, no wind or any dust
Before i plugged the cpu in
Plugging cmos back in
Worked
Now in BIOS
6 keyboards 5 mice? .. umm.. 🙂
Go to advanced mode
Hahah
okay 4800mhz memory looks to be the lowest
Oh
What's under the advanced tab?
TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS WIFI BIOS 1636 Version 1636 9.16 MB 2023/08/04
i would very much recommend bios update as step #1
Is it not updated?
ez flash, see if it can download from internet, if not, go download the file on c:\ or whatever, come back, ez flash from disk
Uhmmm.
bios -> ezflash -> select storage -> find file -> update
i did that just last week or so, 0 problems (x470-pro tho)
You think it could be the problem)
Just guide me trough that pls xD
and u don't have to do usb sticks or the like anymore, which is oossum
first u need the file, look up i gave u the link to the 1636 download
ez flash may even today let u just go "Look for updates" and it does it all
From ASUS themselves
Imma get into the bios again, second
if not, boot into windows, save the file onto your c:\ or whatevs
dunno if it's fs1 or fs3, ur windows disk
Idk either haha
anywhere u can save that file in windows, u can access from this ezflash thing to update bios into q3 2023
So boot into windows, Download the file. Gimme a second
ye
But why is the bios causing only the one ram stick to work?
Tf
What was the link again?
ASUS TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS WIFI is an AMD AM5 (Ryzen™ 7000) ATX Gaming motherboard with 16 teamed power stages, PCIe® 5.0, DDR5 RAM support, four M.2 slots, USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C®, and Aura Sync RGB lighting.
Unzip it?
so it's fs1:/users/yourusername/desktop/
🙂 .. shouldnt be too many
I have one account tho. Just Go by all users?
Empty
Even tho i put it on desktop
No wait
I can't move mouse
Freeze?
I cant do anything. Just freezed
damn 😦
Luck aint with me lately hqha
if that freeze happens while it's flashing bios, it could end badly
😶
just out of curiosity, do u have a lot of usb connected?
Yea
might wanna disconnect everything but a single mouse+keyb at least for this flash
actually, pls go into windows and unzip the file, have the .bin file on the desktop too
reset button or psu off on snip snip, if mouse and keyb are not moving, not much u can do
.bin?
the flash thing did nothing yet, it gives a "found file" "new version" "ready to start?" "are you sure?" "warning keep power on" dialog thing
How do i put it on desktop
open zip, extract all
Got it unzipped
like said i did this on mine last week or so just like this, went smoothly
back to bios ezflash3
Whats about bin
its in the directory u extracted
ezflash should see it on one of the users/something/desktop/
I removed bin from desktop
Nvm
Kk, bios now
So, ready to click it?
Lets pray it doesnt freeze again 😬
Huh
Okay. Imma do it now
Read this File?
Its not an uefi BIOS
Thats what it just told me
So it canceled
hmm for that motherboard asus only gives that bios to download
Download it off into a usb and read the file from that
But you'd still be using ez tool
I only mentioned that and YouTube tutorial video
Ohh ok
I need help haha
Cant i put the ram to 6000 MHz and leave bios like that? Haha
Doesnt it usualy updated itself on bootups or shutdowns?
U still here? @placid sentinel
go into windows, unzip so that u have the cap file
Have it already unzipped
u might also need the biosrenamer
So boot bios renamer?
... sec will see what this is about, i didn't do that part for mine and it worked
nah only needed if u bricked and u have a "bios flashback" button, we don't need it
Okay
MyASUS should have a bios update utility that fires from windows directly
there could be some intermediate version that u must first install
the bios page "show all" shows your bios as the very first one
TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS WIFI BIOS 1408 Version 1408 9.11 MB 2023/04/13
even that could help u with this problem
it couldve been just motherboard chipset driver set
Maybe
i recommend get the 1408 version and unzip it, try ezflash that one
if that works then u can try the newest one too, i think i had this happen to me ~3 years ago, couldnt go directly to newest but burned an intermediate one and made sure it worked
then i could go newest and still can
Kk, sec
yes
u can basically install ram and try if u have a good computer
tronicsfix slogan and t-shirt applies, "if it's not broken, i'll fix it until it is" 😄
Huh? Wdym
like... rush into updating even newer bios now and u might miss a good stable bios u have already
after hours of troubleshooting good new computer, just slap ram in and start playing games, enjoying life
hopefully the mb won't freeze and burn red cpu or white vga anymore
So after this update is done, update it on the newest bios version?
if u want to
my point being
u don't have to
2023/04/something might fix that freezing no-starting bug which sent u to us
2023/08 they've fixed stuff but u might not notice ever
Ohh i see
Ye im in bios again
Fully completed
Shutdown, and put ram back in?
And see if it works?
should be 0 problems not overclocking etc
how u tune the bios is up to u, u can use the ai tweaker or u can "only" set the freq
i do: search -> frequency -> change dimm's to 3000mhz both of them (amd r7 2700x, old as the skies above), save changes exit
tried for a day to run 3200mhz (remembered wrong), a few bluescreens later i googled my sticks and oops 😄
but do try not to overclock now, just run it for a while, see if that red cpu light comes back.. ever.
Im not using the ai perfomance mode
after that u got options, newer updates, overclocking, whatevs
but ye congrats u got a bios-updated pc, hoping u get 2000 hours on it until next crash or no-start
hit advanced -> search -> find "frequency", should give u the dimm slot speeds
set 6400, save, exit
Yayyy, atleast i know its still not current bios. But once that works for now
should be a bangin' machine after
The docp does this
Smth like xmp i believe
Idk
So do docp or just manualy to 6400?
up to you, i wouldn't do docp, i don't on my old rig
Okay
my mobo defaults to 2200mhz, noticed a beeeg improvement when -> 3000 (which the sticks are built for)
Why does it even go higher hahahah
overclock crowd is pleased
correctolicious
"my pc is encased in liquid nitrogen but when i run it, the floor of my room becomes mmmmolten lava!" </jack black>
😂bruh
hit games, hit it hard, give the pc some good load
ensure it's stable
like ... gtfo medium settings -> pc about to melt " 😄 "
I can run it on highest with 244hz 😉😉
1440p 60hz with some dips here and there.. i need a new pc. damn u.
enjoy and let's hope it won't crash n burn again
np my pleasure
Assuming am5, if not stable, back off to 6000. Voltages and timings look fine.
Make sure youre on the latest bios for am5. There was some ram instability on the early ones.
@viscid prism personal recommendations is not install asus armory crate an instead use fancontrol. Way better, nothing really of value in armoury crate except for nuisances
Okay, gotcha. Thanks mate ^^
made this light bar thingie in my case :D
epik
70 fps in lobby is pain
The photo with the monitor was taken before I installed the new PC
I was using a PC older than me at the time
who the fuck out here not playing on a RTX 4090
I do play with mine (baldurs gate 3)
I just got one of my hardware friends to throw a PC together lol
me because I fucking hate nvidia
3 bald gays
I’m chilling with a 3050
Maybe a stupid question so forgive my ignorance but should i be worried at all that my PC is a little loud? I cleaned it like a week ago but it still seems to loud to me, even when im not playing games
might be fan bearings letting go or still some caked dust on a fan blade.. do eyeball them with care, flashlight etc
or thermal paste is drying up
honestly, i had a 3770k with 9 year old AS5 and it was fine
wasnt even good coverage
your mom isn't good coverage
Does anyone have a bizzarre issue in some games where opening map/inventory spikes the gpu usage to 100%? I've it in GTFO and few others, v-sync nor capping the fps help.
Update your video drivers, something's causing shaders to glitch and mess up
as far as I can tell, it's an Unreal Engine bug with how it deals with certain types of DirectX calls
Last updated them like a month ago but I'll do it again
Moreover doesn't GTFO use Unity?
(Thanks btw)
I encountered it in some other games, but it's possible that it's a unity bug instead of a UE bug
I was having similar issues and it went away from multiple games when I updated my drivers (AMD)
could be causality speaking though idk
this will be a stupid question
im not good with technology at all
how much temperature can a laptop handle when gaming?
my laptop reaches 75c when playing this game on average
generally under 80 is considered safe
and parts these days are pretty good at slowing themselves down when close to overheating, or if it gets way too hot shut themselves off
alright alright
thanks for answering

Because laptops are laptops, they automatically can handle up to about 99.9c
^^^
only an issue if you reach 99c easily then you'd need to look into whats causing it
(Usually heatsinks on a laptop are connected)
The ideal temperature is 69c
Unobtainable with laptops
technically it is
Hello
Ive just bought 4 ram sticks for my pc they are all 16gbs ram sticks of ddr4 i have a asus B550 gaming motherboard is there anything i need to know about before i put fresh ram in and taking out the old ones
Nice
Could you be of help for this question my good sir @grave moth
yo i got the same motherboard
yeah
Nice nice
Ive bought 4 brand spankin new ram sticks for my pc is there literally anything i need to know on how to install them properly
Because i have never done this and I'm quite terrified
uhhh
well
when putting in ur ram sticks, place it on one of the holders (my mind is blanking on what the fuck they're called), and before pushing it in, make sure its even on both sides, if so, push in gently with ur thumbs on either side until u hear a click
Okay
really make sure ur putting it in evenly tho
So the 4 ram sticks i bought wouldn't like press against eachother right?
Yep yep make bloody sure theres a click sound when putting them in
well if u put it in uneven, it'll break the pins
Alright so id assume theres a certain way ram goes in correct
some people find this rude, but reading the manual(motherboard) or googling the question often gives better results than waiting for responses
Ive got time to wait for a response but thank you i should've probably done all that
There is nothing to worry about, with 4 sticks you want to put in A2 and B2 first and boot, see if everything works
Dual channel is always guaranteed to work, quad is not. If its fine, shut down and put in the other 2. Maybe start a game in dual, or do a stresstest.
A2 and B2 are the second and fourth slots away from the cpu (look at Mobo manual if that doesnt explain it)
Thank you
hey can i ask about laptops too
while this is true, this channel is called pc build HELP for a reason :3
so i'm kinda stuck between these two, Dell is obviously better but more expensive too and im starting my university abroad and money is important, so i wanted to know if the Asus one is also a decent laptop or not, for casual gaming, using unity to build vr stuff and some video/photo editing Dell link: https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/gaming-laptops-pcs-and-accessories/new-g15-gaming-laptop/spd/g-series-15-5530-laptop/cn22218sc ASUS link: https://www.currys.co.uk/products/asus-tuf-gaming-f15-15.6-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i5-rtx-3050-512-gb-ssd-10246637.html

like is it worth it to pay less and get the asus or am i gonna be forced to upgrade soon you know
I mean
paying less generally means it wouldn't be as good, but from the looks of it, the asus would be suitable for casual gaming still
yeah tbh gaming is not the issue, im playing gtfo on my 2015 laptop rn lol
mostly the unity for my university
and i saw that you can rent a virtual workstation if the rendering is heavy and stuff, i'm already doing this with colab for my AI works but didnt know its possible for game engines
just a side note i would be very happy if the asus can run stalker 2 lol lemme check that
hmmm nah stalker 2 is not looking good on the asus rip
You need to spend considerably more for a good laptop that can game
Laptop is always a compromise
yeah i know but i really need that portability 😦
i dont game THAT much these days, well atleast not AAA games
mostly old ones
stalker 2 is like the only new game i wanted to play haha
Youre gonna have to spend more money than you would on a pc then
No way around it
800 is a lot for a 12500 and a 3050
I mean that’s like market price
Although I did get a sale on mine and got a 5800H 3050ti for 550
What do you mean market price? Its a non TI 3050 and a 12500H lmao
Yeah most of the non terrible (in my experience) entry level laptops are in that range
Yeah thats what i said, you will get a shit deal with laptops compared to the parts on the market everytime
You dont win with latops really
i mean i agree about laptops being overpriced, but i looked at the pc parts and the same cpu and gpu are about 400 totall, adding up with other stuff like cooling, power, 144hz screen and stuff i dont think 800 is THAT overpriced tho
A laptop GPU is nothing compared to the desktop version of the GPU
I'd say it's a safe assumption to say that they're about 70% of the actual card itself?
Tried, didnt work
Though I suppose it varies, but always they are not as the desktop version
yeah thats true, both power and cooling
Ironically DLSS on affected games DOES work to mitigate the issue a bit
sorry for quoting something from 4 days ago
The only thing to care about for laptops is whether you are someone moving around a lot or you aren't able to have a desktop for any reason
Nor even fps global limit works
I'm starting to think that as soon as I open a menu/map whatever, the scene behind starts ignoring fps cap or something of the sort
But apparently if that's the case, it ignores nvidia's control panel global fps limit
Yeah and if you really wanna game you gotta hand over like 4k for a good laptop
RTX 4090 laptop literally isn't even a fucking RTX 4090
it's RTX 4080 but overclocked
fucking same chipset, same processors, just higher clock and more VRAM
Obviously no way in hell a 4090 would be fine in a laptop
The fucking GPU and board requires a whole ass cooling plant
I don't think any 40xx series cards do really well in a laptop, unless you go below 4070
And we all know that the 4070 / 4060 is a joke
Then you have MSI that slaps a 4090 in a laptop and sells it for $5.4k USD
No one is buying that shit
No properly minded consumer yea
Lol
$5.4K you drop on a laptop when you can build a tower that performs so much better
XD
I don't know who in the right mind would buy it
If you needed any PC and you weren't gonna move, and you were willing to spend for a top of the line, you can do it about a couple thousand cheaper for the PC and then you got a thousand for a monitor
idk how it'd do with ray tracing now I wonder
Raster would suck ass sure, but I'm not sure what the ray tracing of the laptop versus a 4090 card would be like
is using a controller for this game good ive been using keyboard and mouse but i got a new controller and i wanted to start using that any thing i should know
you can do everything except use terminals
so you'd need another player on those
I keep waiting for Seasonic to drop a decent atx 3.0 psu to buy that and a 4090 but they still didnt, not sure if i should just go atx 2.0
everything else is fine now 7800x is already cheaper, ddr5 is dirt cheap and mobos are ok. Just waiting on psu to buy it all lmao
Yeah thats what i wanna do but Seasonic is taking forever to release a good one
I just wanna upgrade to 4090 man 😂
Just get MSI
Seasonic makes good PSUs but if you don't wanna wait MSI AI1300p is goated af
I love mine a lot
I heard the 1000p is essentially the same if you're looking for 1000 Watts instead of 1300
Who manufactures MSIs psus?
Seasonic and Super Flower are goated, the rest are all ripoffs/the same or worse
CWT
That's their OEM
For the MEG series
Considering the Ai1300p is the first ATX 3.0 PSU to come out to the consumer market I doubt it's a ripoff
Quality-wise from a consumer standpoint it's very nice
You sure?
Seasonic release one long ago
I waited months for my build to be completed just because they ran out of stock
They have?
Seasonic was way behind actually
The Ai1300p is pretty top of the line
I'd actually rate it #1 ATX 3.0 from experience
From a lesser opinion standpoint, all the major YT channels used it for test-benching
And only used the MSI Ai1300p for testbenching the 40xx series
Gotta love it
I mean, there is not much choice lmao
Yea I got the 4090 day before release but missed out on the PSU LOL
what cpu u running? are you only gaming or productivity too
7900X
I have some productivity stuff
I was thinking to upgrade to 7950X
But I like my performance as is
Maybe once I sell my ram I'll upgrade
They still use the Ai1300p if I'm not mistaken
There are actually very few ATX 3.0 PSUs, surprisingly
Yeah thats what im saying, there isnt much choice with atx 3.0
Im gonna go 7800x as performance is goated in comparison to 7900 or 7950 for gaming only
Im not gonna get a msi psu tho, i would rather wait
Up to personal preference
You might be waiting for a while
Not sure if there's been new PSU news
I could go 1600W but thats overkill
But i think Super Flower has atx 3.0 at 1600W
nvm they only have internal Gold as well
If I'm not mistaken MSI is actually the only holder of a platinum rated ATX 3.0
You can correct me if I'm wrong though
Again, not a lot of news or options with ATX 3.0
Seems like it
That just tells me that manufacturers dont really believe in the new connector
I don't believe so
I think it's moreso adapter cords are just way cheaper to make
Like corsair makes a adapter cable cord for their PSU
Obviously nobody uses the 4 8 pin to 12 vhpwr cable but it's got to be cheaper to manufacture
Also so to speak: pretty sure the new connector myths have been debunked
Yeah but it still doesnt make much sense
Are they gonna continue using this connector for future cards? Last gen we got a new connector, it was abandoned now we got another one
More or less, most were user error but manufacturing definitely had to adjust a little
my gpu comes today!! super excited to put it in
:3
Nice :)
which one?
GeForce rtx 3060, upgrading from some shit Chinese brand 580 that runs at a 570 and eveytime it boots up ot flashes an orange glitched screen lmao
Well if it's a weird chinese 580 that doesn't function right
Might as well wipe the drives clean
After getting what you need out of it of course
yeah true
Nice, wish I had the spare coin to get myself an upgrade... running an ASUS ROG RX 580 8gb. It's decent, runs basically everything at 1080p 60fps on medium/low depending on the game
ur real rgb

let me have my disco rave in piece please and thank you
Im blessed with good teammates and better graphics + fps according to this chart, GG
I like how mine is set up because its pretty colors
Pretty much haha
Three rainbow parts really
I also had white rgb ram but that was like 2400MHz so eh
Better cooling rn since Wallpaper engine overwrites iCUE

White is nice I guess cause best performance according to this legit RGB guide but also cause it's aesthetically pleasing and doesn't give me a seizure.
Y'all seem smart.
Anyone able to help as to when I attempt to boot my PC. My screen will display ''Displayport No signal'' and my keyboard won't light up /turn on / respond.
The only way for me to get around this. is that right after I start my PC. I have to keep tapping my keyboards keys in order for the keyboard to light up. And then magically the monitor also turns on and the PC boots as normal.
My best guess is that my PC isn't automatically detecting my Keyboard or Monitor, but needs an input signal during the boot process (cuz i can't tap my keyboard after.. for some reason). And then detects the keyboard and monitor and sends out the signal. But honestly. I've got no clue why this is happening and googling has done nothing
sounds like motherboard trouble, bad grounds maybe? had something like this a long time ago, motherboard wasnt screwed well, took special steps to get it to post, once it did it worked tho
feel the back of chassis with finger, if it feels like static electricity, u may have this..
pc should boot fine without keyboard
The PC is prebuilt. I went over all the components and checked them before starting it, and it seemed to be fine. Though the issue is recent, so it seems to have developed over time. So it could have happened
old pc? .. could be power supply, almost anything tho.. but cmos reset and a bios update maybe..
Well yeah it seems to boot, I'm just not getting any display signal to my monitor. And for some reason the keyboard is unresponsive. As the leds won't light up. Only way to fix it for now is to keep pressing keys during the boot.
Got it at the start of this year.. 4090
maybe try switching usb ports for keyb mouse others? do u have another spare keyb to test?
No other keyboards sadly. And I've tried swapping ports, doesn't change anything.
... never heard that keyb would stop an nvidia 4090 from starting 🙂

Me neither.
But i've no idea what's causing the issue, or what the issue exactly even is.
power socket is grounded? no old funky extension divider stuff?
Just.
Press start on PC. It seems to boot. But keyboard stays unresponsive, doesn't light up. And monitor gets no display signal
Only way to fix it is by tapping the keyboard during the boot, and it'll light up, and the monitor gets signal
I don't know what's happening.
sometimes a power extender gets cuffed and the y/g ground thing breaks, all works but u got no ground..
It's grounded yeah. I've not really checked the socket much myself. It's a 4 socket box right in the wall, no extension, where both my monitors and power supply goes into.
ok, should be good.. sounds like a motherboard issue, might want to clear cmos once and then check for bios updates
sounds like the bios needs a trigger (keyb) to post normally
I've never heard of bios needing a trigger-
power on, press and hold insert while doing it
Huh
if not that, there should be a jumper on mb to cmos clear
What's the cmos?
bios memory
Ah. Gotcha
settings, timedate.. might need to tune dram speeds, possible overclocking stuff etc after
I did check for bios updates and stuff and it said it was up to date.
u could try a full power off, disconnect, press power, let sit for a few minutes (clears capacitors)
eat ur pc, solves all problems :3
That I can try.
I'm pretty sure there's no grounding errors. Just checked now and everything seems to be fitting fine. And I didn't feel any static.
At worst I can get my multimeter and start measuring grounding and voltage..-
a failing psu is miserable, but if its <12mo, should be fine still
Yeah I kinda doubt it's any of the hardware failing since it's all new.
It's possible, but still-
fun stuff having 3060 shut down mid-game, no picture even on vnc after.. psu fan failed. heat selfprotect partial cutoff.
That's an oof.
sounds iffy, one solution is "dont power off" (if able)
i keep my rig up 24h, gamestream to it if needed offsite.. nice to always be able to play own pc anywhere
I was sweating when i turned my pc on for the 1st time
CPU as sitting at 70 in idle. The case fans wouldn't spin at all. Windows didn't recognise the fans being there. Though I just updated the driver and it worked
yeah mb chipset drivers nowadays a must, especially if amd-
It's ASUS iirc
yup same.. gpu and one psu later a 2018 vintage still strong today
I could do that. Though I don't like having my PC sleep 24/7 and never shut down.
Also just, walking around the problem and leaving it there is also oof 👴
ye, bit worrying, but the problem could be just a spec of hair/dust in exactly the wrong slot or an invisible trace of wire in mb layer 6 with slighrly increased resistance.. iffy. if it goes worse, maybe a new mb?
Strangest thing about it is that the issue developed overtime. It started becoming an issue like 1-2 months ago.
I've dusted the PC 4 times this past month pls
Even took off all the components and very carefully dusted the connections
mb defects sometimes show only after some use or -time.. but it could be anything, even the keyboard, a spec of dirt or moisture.. .. guesswork best work 😄

but power on intermittent no display goes heavily to bios/motherboard pipeline imho
Suppose I could check the bios again
or do as you say and wipe the cmos
Won't hurt to try- I just gotta remember all my settings (:
mother inlaw has an hp laptop where usbc dies on her after some use, leads to fun stuff like display cutoff or external ssd disappearing. sadge.
everything works fine 30min-8h and suddenly poof </kevin spacey>
Well~
I'll try some things out. Thanks for the help
Another note:
Playing No Man's Sky while waiting for Starfield..
I have the graphics on ultra, and set the fps to 144.
I only get roughly 100-110 fps. Yet the GPU sits at 5% utilization and CPU at 20%
Why won't the game just crank the utilization higher to get the frames to 144?
Temps are 50c on GPU and 70 on CPU, so it shouldn't throttle itself for temps
Vsync or lack of prerendered frames probably
Some games are optimized like dogshit or run on one core
I would try this
Smells like default config stupidity
Vsync is off and it's running through DLSS
My next assumption was that it's just utilizing one core, but I hope not-
I'll check it out tho, thx
Wish I knew what High and Low threads were
telling me to set the High threads to the number of logical processors on my cpu
Logical processors I believe being the amount of threads
usually it's the amount of cores multiplied by two
What's the difference between a ''HighThread'' and ''LowThread''
I don't really know
I'm gonna assume I can't set like.. High Thread to 32 and Low thread be 1 or above, since that'd be more than the threads I have (32)
idk high threads are one less than the low threads
It's probably weird as shit, I'd just wait for clay
''As far as I can tell, "low threads" are low priority threads. Setting this >0 allows the game to queue work onto these.
"High threads" would be high priority threads then. So you want to keep the sum, numlow + numhigh, lower than or equal to your logical core count.
What if you set both to 0? Well the wording implies there are is least one "normal" priority thread as well... so I guess if both are 0 all work goes on to the "main game thread".''
-Reddit user
Someone else just reccommends setting it to Half/Half
so I'll do that.
Well it worked.
Now it's going from 130 to 144
Whew.
Display port no signal despite PC and keyboard being on and operational
It's like my PC just doesn't detect my monitor
Or well. Both.
I've got 1 main display port monitor
And 1 secondary hdmi
Neither has signal
Fuck
Red light on MB for CPU
Restarting
Red light on cpu led
Quickly hit my keyboard
Goes to yellow on vga
Then green on boot and everything's okay
HMM
latest bios?
aug 21 trofline_black had ~identical issues btw, asus mb, failed to start with leds
Yeah I have the latest bios.
Wiped my entire bios setup things, and re-did it all
no bueno
I managed to get an older bios from a usb
no bueno
I'm sending my PC in for service. It's free luckily. Just gonna have to manage without a PC for 5 to 10 days
(:
I swear if they're ''unable to replicate fault'' I'm going to fucking flip-
hope it's just a defective mb, shame tho
ah well, geforcenow is good even with a potato laptop / old machine, all it needs is hardware video decode and everything has that nowadays
I hope so to
But I cannot be arsed to buy a new MP and swap it out. Especially not when I got 1 free service where they'll rectify the fault if possible.
They'll even be able to swap out faulty parts for new if needed.
Glad I spent another 50 bucks on that 5 year guarantee
hopefully they replicate it and slap a new mb in there, fixed
Yeah
Another ''uh-oh'' popped up yesterday
Whenever my PC is turned off (but power connected still). There's a red backlight behind the Motherboard. No idea what it is, I've not been able to look at it and I'm not messing with it anymore. Throw it to service and let em figure it out 😂
and well issue with that is that I dont have another PC.. Sold the old one-
No consoles or anything either
Fun
c:
I'll just work overtime a bunch as to not bore myself
even a semi-decent cellphone can do gamestream/geforcenow but hooking it to mouse+keyboard is the thing
Suppose it's an option
No idea how to hook my phone up to a mouse and keyboard tho
Cursed setup
heh, that "new" replacement psu just made some scary gurgling death-rattling sounds, let's get a new one then
Went against my better judgement and got Starfield.
Game is running at 60 fps
CPU is 20% used
GPU is 3% used
Ram is snug at 50%
Why ain't it using more % utilization to get higher frames? (FPS is not capped)
Also, Task Manager states that the GPU engine being used is ''GPU 0 - Copy'' ?
I assume this is just the game having dog-shit optimization
also yes my temps are fine, cpu at 70, gpu at 60
task manager is unreliable microsdoft horseshit
you need either msi afterburner or amd adrenalin
Todd Howard says to wait for 50 series or get a RTX 4090
like unironically
"Most systems probably can't run the game optionally"
The game for whatever reason runs better on amd cards
Funny thing is
I literally have a 4090
With alot of tweaking and 5 optimiation mods..
60 frames in the large areas
120 frames in small enclosed areas
Temps are 82c on CPU, 70c on GPU
Now i've gone into nvidia control panel to cap the frames to 90. So the temps are down to 78 and 60
Why starfield
Could've been a different game
sounds normal to me, motherboards do that
7900xtx actually does better than 4090 on starfield I believe
I’m gonna download it today
see how well my 6950xt does with fsr2
I’m guessing about 50 fps
I've never had a motherboard do that on me before.
Usually it's either a very small white led or nothing
This one is glowing red as if it's summoning a demon. To the point I disconnect the power so it won't be annoying at night. It wasn't having the light previously. Just suddenly rn.
Yeah I've heard amd cards perform better. I think it was the same case for fo4 and 76 if I'm not mistaken.
Also no Nvidia dlss support (without mods)
it’s usually just cosmetic. Odds are you can disable it in BIOS
Why would it randomly decide to start lighting up now. 8 months after I got the pc-
And after other problems
ohhh RIGHT

you updated your bios man
Oh bruh
Yeah probably- :x
so you’ll have to find the setting and turn it off again
what motherboard is it?
usually with ASUS it will be called some kind of aura led
It's an asus but don't remember the model rn
I feel dumb that I didn't think of that
yeah I mean it’s not that straight forward for an update to reset literally everything for most pieces of software, but for BIOSes yeah
I don't remember seeing any Aura led or anything like it in the settings
Might've just been blind
Mine has 4 lights that it uses to tell problems, red is a problem with the cpu for me
nah he says it’s glowing demonic which is probably some lighting effect on the mobo
any1 ever figure out how to fix the game crashing on startup?
event viewer
right now there's a network connection thing going on but if u can't even get into main menu rundown screen, try removing %appdata% locallow 10 chambers gtfo (at least generatedicons if not everything) ..
@subtle flare Found out seasonic actually has Titanium and Platinum rated atx 3.0 PSUs
Finally?
It must be more recent then
Not at all
Simply no advertisement at all
They simply dont have a native 12v cable. An adapter made by seasonic, using 2 8pins into the 12v cable. Its fully atx 3.0 pcie 5.0 compatible
Actually, nevermind it has a native 12vhpwr connector. I can finally plan my upgrade😂
No, that is more recent
I didn’t mean it came out just now
It is just more recent comparatively
NEW RAM LETS GO
RAM me daddy-o
At least i can finally upgrade and burn 3k in the process😂
my pc got a sticker upgrade
Bad can of compressed air totaled my board.
Anyone know what this component is for?
It's a Gigabyte Aorus B450M
The blue lines is dust from the UV light incase anyone is wondering
Ouch…
Symptoms: Will post, loads into Bios, temps soar from 40C up until shutoff despite more than sufficient cooling.
Board probably needs cleaning with 96% and toothbrush where you sprayed
Unless there is actual physical damage, then you're boned
Moral of the story is buy a handheld electric duster
Air
erm achually
it's supposed to be refrigerant
it has a very low boiling point
so once you press the trigger, the refrigerant is allowed to boil from atmosphere equalization
which is why the can gets cold when in use
it is toxic to breathe in, but. because it is very light the gas immediately travels as high as it can go and is difficult to breath in unless you sucked on the nozzle
really only toxic if you burn it
I'm gonna eat it
cfc are very stable
reason why i dont use compressed air anymore
you could probably look up the motherboard see if they have schematics of it and see what that chip is for id you can do sodering thatd be the only way to repair that
Probably impossible for a beginner or hobbyist to solder anything on a mobo
MBO is dead unfortunately, would defo look at having a bit of fun with it and maybe doing leak tests in my liquid cooler with it(seen as it's dead anyways)
If I can fix it I'd be very happy to have a spare MBO.
Eh, it's not like it functions as it would be without it
So you may as well take the risk assuming it isn't under warranty if any
I mean, the heat soaking ability of a mobo swamps out most irons.
is there still no real fix to the crashing on startup bug??
the weird 10 chambers folder thing doesnt work for me
did you try temporarily disabling your firewall/AV?
yeah
still not working
been a long ass time now havent touched the game in forever
love not being able to play
very fun
well uh
GTFO is working now lol
i dont really understand why but it is working now
my pad is not recognised by the game properly - the trackpad on it "works" but the other buttons don't... what's the matter?
thanks for the help in advance c:
Anybody have fix for the fps drops? Ever since R6 Alt dropped the game has been running like a turd
full uninstall + install might do a shader recompile thing but no guarantees
make sure GPU drivers are updated too
Ah, the good ol' "full uninstall + install" trick, a true classic in the world of tech mysteries! Reminds me of the time I tried to fix my toaster by uninstalling and reinstalling it, but instead of toast, I got a stack overflow error.
mmmm .. instead of toasty crispy "bread", u got some crunchy keynotfound nullrefs, lucky sob 🙂
there's been some cases where gtfo (and gtfo alone) gets garbage performance all of a sudden while all other games 200+fps .. a good uninstall + install restored it, something to do with shaders (dunno)
Oh, you know it! Instead of a crispy toast, I got a heaping plate of nullrefs and keynotfound exceptions. It was like dining in the fine restaurant of Errorville, where every bite was a surprise. Who needs bread when you can feast on code conundrums, right?
🙂

u sound like u know a lot of things
first time PC builder question
im looking to do a new build, i was reading about the difference between the ryzen 7 and I9 being about the same price but I9 is all around better
is this true
im more looking to do a new gaming pc and switch my current model to an office pc or secondary pc and i dont know what to look for
my humble opinion: intel stuff is rock solid and 100% delivers what it can, amd ryzens are very nice tho but not as predictable. personally i've been a happy ryzenhead for years already, can recommend.
don't even have to go absolutely cutting edge top of the line cpu, for gaming, invest in a decent Gpu and have lots of ram (32 or 64), you'll be gud.
If you do other things than gaming then edge/top of the line CPU may be worth and both AMD/Intel have their respective pros/cons
Also find deals with cpus, they exist and are very good most of the time
both are good rn from the 5000 and 7000 series compared to the 12th and 13th gen intels the ywere very close in terms of specs
the new 7000 and 13th gen get super fucking hot lmao so if you gohigh end on those sides make sure you have decent cooling with it
depending on what kind of gaming youdo 1080p/1440p/4k
the gpu ranges are diff there
and 16 gb is minimum imo now so 32 is that better and speeds at ddr5 are more than adequate
im looking at a ryzen 7700 as the mother board supports the 7000 series only ddr5
yeah ryzen 7000 only ddr5 rn
do you want the corsair veng ram?
you can get other stuff for way cheaper lol
and you could prob go with some of the 7000 series radeon cards instead
oh wait thats 2
you want 128 gb of ram?
:O
64*
so i'd highly recommend only getting 2 sticks imo
4 sticks ddr5 is just a bad time
lmao
could work first shot but most of the time it always has issues booting or long boots/ have to down clock to even get it to boot
you should look into the x3d chips too just in case
i havent done my own research on how they are cause i already built my own
7000 series chips and cards
Only run 4 sticks of DDR5 if you know your mobo can support EXPO at 4 dimms
Usually they don't, so only use 2 stick configurations
Learned that the hard way after some new mobo updates and had to drop an additional $200 for new ram
"or 64GB of RAM"
only cities skylines heavily modded ever reaches above 32GB of RAM
16GB is good enough, if you want to 'future proof' or make sure you can run more applications then go for 32GB
oh wait nvm this is one of those unlimited budget builds
nah yeah 32 is the new upgrade 16 is the new minimum
8 is discrete now :P
welll off his list his budget is 2400
but he can cut soem stuff
making me feel old now
I have no clue what new games require for spec
well the prices on 16gb is not bad
so im ok with that
2 8s sound better than 2 4's lol
or 1 8
i mean you dont need that high end of a system
to enjoy mid to high gaming
on 1080p at least
when you're jumping to 4k thats where things get iffy
prices prob range about 3k ish for good 4kgaming
4080 3080 4090 4080 and the cpu to back it up
but i think the 7800x3d is a better buy than the 7700 @vivid sandal
you should look at comparisons
would that even work for this motherboard
yeah that mobo works with all 7000 series ryzen
same socket
what are you gonna use the pc for?
I don't think they even mentioned a monitor yet
so thats a good question
having a 4K monitor or 1080p monitor would change things
would hope that they have a QHD monitor at least with these specs
or even dual monitor
all that matters is that resolution
and i guess refresh rate
you go 4k you need a beefier card
1080+1440p 30603070 and 7700 7800 xt cards prob all you need
or 4060 4070
i think 4060 dog tho if you want 4060 you're better off spending the price for 3070ti lol
price to performance 4060 dog* its still a good card
just value dog
i wish i knew more about the radeon cards
also a750s intels arc cards
not a bad choice compared to those
way cheaper and about the same performance
If you are thinking of geting a 40 series card, either get the 80/90, nothing else
Otherwise go 70xx series cards from AMD
Only applies to latest gen cards
If not latest gen 30 series should suffice
yeah 80 or 90 is best i mean..
the new dlss aint bad to have either but
price to performance you're better off buying a 30 series card as well since they've dropped in price
or you could buy used
newegg is selling the 7800X3d for only 30$ more if you haven't already picked that yet
Absolute steal compared to the 7700X if it's only for gaming
Don't upgrade.
yeah wait for the RTX 5090 release /j
It’s either you upgrade now or you wait till new gen and it becomes even more expensive
Costs are never coming down again
Current gen, at least, but you don’t have to go current gen
fourth times the charm
Man
They really have to screw prices up
Manufacturing costs for 50xx series increasing too
And they are just corporate greedy pigs
Price gauging the shit outta consumers
Sucks ass
you mean the 69420
@vivid sandal dis
and yeah so true
like new gen looks disgusting lol but its good to wait for new gen and maybe buy the previous gen aswell
oh not bad
thank you all
for my display i have an Acer - XF270H 27" and an hp 25e
that dont say much what resolution lol or refresh rate
what settings should I run for a GTX 1660 and I5-9400F?
on high I get around 70-80 fps
90 if lucky
60 in fog
xf270 is 1080p 144hz
dont know about hp 25e but I think it's 1080p, response time is 7ms lel
yeahso 1080p gaming to 70s or 60s should be good
idk what the equiv for radeon that is but i imagine 60 and 70 as well lol
40 or 30 series up to you
and 6000 or 7000 up to you too
unless the monitor is far away that pretty pixelated
Only thing that should be high/very high is shadow resolution
Everything else should be medium
what about advanced graphics? @subtle flare
I don't understand those, leave it on default?
I know CPU culling hands some of the work to the cpu
CPU ain't that great, GPU is pushing it but you either want it small/medium
Try either one and look at your frames
so high/medium or medium/low?
GPU is guaranteed to get to 99%
I think cpu gets to 60 something %
hmm, so set culling to high?
I see
so leave Advanced on default
wait
default settings set everything to medium in graphics but shadow resolution
is that modeled after my pc?
like automatic
Possibly might be default or optimization via GeForce Experience
spec detection feature
I'd set resolution size to quarter as well
Ye
I want to actually see good textures
With your GPU? You're really pushing it there
quarter might gut it
You rather have frames
let me see if geforce works
Quarter usually doesn't bother a lot of people
Most noticible is really just security doors
why?
AA in GTFO is broken, and TAA is experiemental
so how is FXAA different?
Less resource usage
You're running a 1660, not a 20/30 series card
More frames >>>
Set shadow resolution to very high -> should help with shadow enemies
That's the only thing that should be maxed out regardless of card to improve base gameplay
enable player shadows or keep it off?
Under display turn off dithering as well
You're good then
quarter textures makes the outfit look bad
let me check fps
I get 245 fps in the lobby @subtle flare
In game you don't even see your own outfit
Lobby doesn't really matter
Most important in level
Unrelated but I wonder where NVidia took that screenshot from, afaik that small warden door only appears in ||R2E1||?
Probably alpha screenshots
banana
Maximized window?
que?
hey guys, im kinda desperate rn, my pc hasnt been able to boot up for ~12hrs and i just want to know if i should bring it to a shop to get it checked
specs are:
gigabyte b360m d2v
rtx 2060
8gb ram dual channel, slight frequency difference
i7 8700 stock heatsink
unknown 650v psu, looks high end
i opened the case to do some cleanup blowing off some dust and to change the position of an hdd and after that the pc just refused to boot, just a flash from the motherboards led and nothing else
Sounds like a short
Unplug the hdd and see if it posts
huh
after leaving the pc to rest for about 8 hours or something it booted
bios got cleared tho
good to hear. maybe u zapped something while touching motherboard and needed an all-capacitors-clear to restore function..
Or PSU is fucked
So I recently got a new PC and I'm in the process of setting it up.
It already runs just fine, however I'm getting one issue that I don't know how to fix. Half of my screen is flickering for some odd reason and I can't figure it out. My drivers are updated so that can't be the issue so I'm kinda stuck. Any help is appreciated, I'm fairly new to PC gaming.
try different display cable
Sounds to me like a graphics card issue, have tried to use integrated graphics?
have you tried throwing out your graphics card
have you tried eating ur graphics card
have you tried letting your graphics card eat you?
Friv
Graphics card vore?
Absorb it's power
Guys I've tried plugging my graphics card into my flesh ports and now I can finally do parallel floating point operations
Crazy
Crazy? I was crazy once

what are these
Steam badges
wait gtfo has cards
lame
A lot of games have cards, just like a lot of games have achievements
would be cool if things looked that nice in game
these card images look incredible
amazingly disgusting
well i mean gtfo doesnt have achievements right?
And? Cards don't have anything to do with achievements, it's a standalone
That sentence was merely a comparison, not a correlation
interesting
i just assumed 🖌️
real
Almost every game on steam has cards
Rattle em boys
rattle me bones
Does GTFO get better frames in Dedicated Fullscreen or Fullscreen Window?
Well I'd assume dedicated but
dedi.. also dont vsync but set target framerate, on my rig the most consistent fps
