That doesn't make any sense considering you have the Sentry, Shotgun Sentry, Minelayer, etc.
The MG actually has more damage per bullet despite having the lower ammo capacity

So, I found this game on steam yesterday and I was impressed by the trailer. I looked up some IGN gameplay and I was more impressed. But since this game is -heavily- recommended by most reviews on steam to be played with atleast 3-4 people, I'd like to know what everyone's thoughts are on the game so far. I know there's probably a lot of fans here, I guess I just want your thoughts on what you think the games future will be like. HOw many maps are there now? Do you see the game having a bright future ahead?

The small size of the development team has me worried it might end up being one of those... very niche games that you dont really hear much from in the future. I do -hope- it gets a lot of attention as so far it looks very unique.

So for content. The maps are set and not procedural, but most spawns are, allowing a bunch of replayability, and this is first day of early access, and the devs so far have been amazing on the content. I wouldn't imagine maps themselves will be too fast coming out at the moment as they seem to have a roadmap for a bunch of key features.
Honestly to someone who is skeptical and wouldnt be able to sell their friends instantly, I would say holding off on it for a bit would be a good idea, just to see where it goes. But between alpha and this early access launch, the devs are showing real promise in their developing
I'll try, but my brother seems onboard already, not sure if we'll be able to hold ourselves off it. We're currently looking at co-op games. And i am a -big- sucker for -good- horror co-op games simply because there is a SEVERE lacking of good co-op horror games lately.
I want to support this project if the gameplay is as good as i've heard, most reviews on steam so far are very positive.
My only concern I guess is whether this type of game has a big enough audience to become ''successful''. By successful I simply mean earn enough sales to further developing the game after launch etc.
Oh, the easiest way to get a general feel for the opening sales. (I by no means have the info, so feel free to disregard it). If you scroll down the voice chats on here. There is no matchmaking in game at the moment, so pretty much all the voice chats with people are squads running in the rundown, and thats not accounting for people on their own discords.
(As a side note) From one coop horror lover to another, you may also want to keep an eye on the next Outlast game - that's also said to be coop although, probably still really really early in development
Honestly, there really isn't enough co-op games in general these days.
@fading grail I'll look at it, but outlast is a very different type of horror game. I kind of like online horror with progression and replayability.

i mean i've watched a guy clear C1 in Alpha alone. I don't want to say it looks easy, but not as "hard" as the idea i've got from this game (i thought soloing would've been hard to the point of closer to impossible, plus it's a C1.. which should be a really hard difficulty if i got it right).
what i'm trying to say is, it just SEEMS like you move when there is no heartbeat and smash heads till you find scouts that mess you up with a horde if you are not carefull.

So I never been able to fully see the monsters or get the names from them and really enjoy seeing this game since I haven't been a able to play the beta and only watch it but are there full on pictured or well art of all the creatures that shows them full? They are quite interesting and I don't know how to look them up separately and see how their anatomy works since it's fun to guess how monsters work
I hope asking this is okay I find the creatures very fascinating since it's a new kind of monster I have seen and i always am excited over creatures made to be their own species in horror

Red dots means the target is moving around, usually a scout if you haven't alarmed anything yet. Red dots can also be tagged for the team but "firing" bioscanner, so IF you fuck up, you can scan a re-enforced door to let your team know how many gangly fuckers is trying to touch your butt.

there's a big red dot moving around, but atm all the white dots have turned into the smaller red dots
White dots is just "dormant" enemies, usually small guys and when they turn into red dots it means they've been alarmed and coming for you.

Depends on the room. If scout is sorta isolated you can foam him up and a heavy melee attack from each players should do the trick.
If he insist on standing in the middle of 3 other fuckers a snipe to the head should take him out.

If it doesn't work, copy another and then go back to the original.

Yes, you can indeed foam the scouts, but the question is more if you can get close enough.
You can foam them when they retract their tentacles and then smash them and they go down really easily
While they are retracting they are stuck there for a good few seconds
Can also do it to prevent them from screaming
Just need to be really quick about it

for sure it can be a little sketchy getting close enough to follow them back to the scout

For some reason some players will be in the same lobby but won't be able to see or interact with each other in game or in lobby. Is there a fix to this?
Were the developers intending to go back to the original design they showed up? or are they scraping those ideas?
Once the developers have ironed out the game the way they are satisfied with, do they plan on implementing full VR support?
As I have said on a form post regarding this topic: To this day I still can't go back to playing The Forest or PayDay 2 normally. I'm especially impressed with how well PayDay 2 tackled it and how good it feels now, the simplest details that they did for example was that the positioning of your controllers were relative with the handle of the weapon of where you'd be actually holding it including the angle, something that I heavily noticed when I tried Fallout 4 VR... I mean, my god when I wielded the minigun for the first time only to realize that my hand was pretty much close to the center of the gun rather than where the handle was.
Games like GTFO, The Forest, and PayDay2 are especially the most worthy things to try and get to have VR support, they are cooperative, have a community, are not separated with a separate version of the game that only allows VR players (along with a bigger price tag) and potentially ends up becoming even more popular.
I really do hope the developers consider this, it can only be a good thing.

Well. You can use models and just add some unique mutated creeps. They evolved and will be a pain in the ass... just think about Diablo RPG elite or rar mobs with traits and abilities

I will mention there are other enemies plannedHopefully they will be more diverse like in L4D2, instead of just "big and lots hp" or "moves faster", etc

If you wake up the sleeper before killing him, it seems that sometimes you need to do an additional hit to silence them... as it seems when they go "online" that the body is active even when head is destroyed

Sweet.... What are all the tactics to use for restarting the reactor.
Our last set up got us to 5 of 8 on the restart. We utilized 3 sentry guns (2 burst 1 shotgun). We set up at the first door where everything spawned and pretty much held that area with 3 people until we were over run. From what we all heard setting up on the bridge is a bad idea.

Yep. We clear the area as best we can - close to full health (between 60 to 80%) and decent stock of ammo by the time we reach the security door requiring the keycard

And @gloomy imp I can recommend to set up everything in advance, can't recall where exactly, but when the reactor ask for a code you should be able to run back to it with 20 sec to spare.
@molten epoch we leave one guy to stay at the reactor at all times. The remaining 3 are spearheading the mobs as they spawn.
The original idea was to use up supplies in one room and then move back to the second room after running out of supplies in the first.
@lunar crag only advice is to makes sure you don't take any unnecessary risks only head for objectives, leave doors and areas unexplored unless you run low on gear

Yes, we have 2 sentries!
I usually put the mines low so all the little dudes that crawl get blown up, since they tend to spawn in large swarms.
Good set up is 2x sentry (one of each, unless level is bad for burst), 1 scanner and 1 C-gun.
By the time our group gets there, we have like 7 or 8 mines stocked and 70% sentries
Sentry gun the big door from the outside
(you are here) -door is here- open space (sentry gun aimed at door)
It helps to thin them out while the door is foamed
Just be aware that sentries can do friendly fire

So having the ground foamed and then having the shotgun sentry will take them put.

But do mind the smaller door in that room too. If you all pile by it. They'll come tearing through it.

Not right now, the reward is the feeling you get when you beat an expedition, which is no small feats. But eventually yes there should be progression reward. More info on the roadmap.

Unsure as to whether this was a change made before the release of the game to meet system requirements, but during the initial trailers for the game the graphics looked a lot better in the trailers for the game. That's not to say that the graphics look bad in the game, but I was wondering whether in future updates if the graphics will be updated or whether it will remain the same
Graphics are a push and pull between performance and looks.
Impo they are currently pretty good for the style of game. The fog and light effects fit the mechanics really well.
Also, not sure if this is the case for GTFO but most trailers are prerendered and not built in engine, This allows for better graphics. Remember it is a trailer, and is designed to make you want to buy the game. So visuals, mechanics, etc. ,will be enhanced for purposes of marketing and story telling. Yeah I get that just the screenshots on the steam store are a little deceiving imo, but completely agree that they still look alright for the setting of the game
I can agree, The screen shots seem to be on a build that was used for presentation/Trailers, a year (2 years) ago. Since then it seems that the direction f the game moved a little more towards a more utilitarian UI scheme with less flashy things. While it does seem a bit ingenuine I think the game had the originally had the idea of being a (Space Hulk + World War Z) style of game where the game was more about trying not to alert hordes unless totally necessary. The game now seems more inline with what the description of the game, and from a setting/lore standpoint it doesn't make sense to have a kitted mercenary team head down when you can just send moderately equipped expendable prisoners, one after another. At least that's my interpretation of it ATM

How easy is it to stealth skill a scout?
Depends of the situation
1 sniper shot to the head will get them, it's tough but pretty reliable to take them out that way
you can hammer then in the head too but that's a far sketchier way to do it
It will alerts the whole room.
But if you clean the room and finish with the scout then we can say it's stealth.
You can still foam the scout and rush him with the hammer
it's still easier to handle one aggroed room rather than that same aggroed roo + more spawned waves from alerting the scout
But it's if there is no enemy near the scout
You can use a C-Foam grenade to freeze the Scout temporarily and then have everyone hammer it to death.

possibly. There's a specific formula for what determines if someone wakes up and how many in what range. While I can't share details, it will require a bit of experimenting. Best to have someone ready to kill them if they do wake up

The trigger detection range is bigger every level you get. (D range is way bigger than A range)
If an enemy heart is beating while you kill an enemy, there is many chances that it would be triggered from the kill
In C level I think this range lay be 10m
Is the visual for the dreamers ranged attacks just a placeholder? Everything in the game looks and feels really nice, but these glowing yellow orbs really look out of place, have no oomph or scare factor.
I think the scary thing is to alarm the whole room.
Aye, but then these horrible creatures turn the dark and scary room into a Christmas party by slinging angry fire flies at you. It's, in my humble opinion, completely out of place with the rest of the design aesthetic, hence why I'm wondering if its a placeholder animation?
True, I definitely agree that it feels real out of place compared to the other medium range tongue attacks, but I think it's to create a more balanced ranged attack. I feel like if they fired bullets or if the light was removed, it would be very difficult to dodge and weave around their projectiles like you currently can. Also, might be because they don't have much to shoot other than their weird....uh...'bits?'
