Theres one guy who started (as a newbie) last year methinks and has been doing every level with bots, there's only two levels he hasn't done but both of those have been done with bots by other players

I think I did r4c2 yesterday during the melee expansion lobby and it wasn't that bad if it's the one with the sustain alarms
unless it's r4c2 that they're running rn

i want some non spoilery tips on how to do R2D1, we've gotten to the extract and just can't for the life of us have enough resources to finish the extract. we haven't entered the 2 alarm doors that we believe have anything useful to us (zone 611, zone 613) and we only entered zones we absolutely needed to to get the cells and dip. we also haven't used a cell to enter zone 614 either. other then that we've seen the entire mission pretty much and have adopted a pretty solid strategy of clearing rooms with just mines so we don't bleed ammo and health where we don't need to. the only time we actively engage are for small rooms with a couple of people (melee only), screamer doors and alarms and when we're working on getting rid of the feelers so we can do our shenanigans

yeah we spent a total of 9 hours doing attempts over the course of 2 days, our latest attempt was the most flawless we've gone and it just wasn't enough to cross the finish line

You can check resource on term, btw. Same w/ cell location.
LIST ZONE_614 or LIST RES E_614 or some other variation.
Gives you more information to decide where to go, recognize if an optional zone is a resource room or not, etc.
And you can query resource packs if you really want to know their exact amounts
how does the hel rifle do into giants? my team doesn't believe in the hel rifle so I'm stuck on sniper duty
hel rifle is decent into giants, and very goood if you get pens
in general hel rifle will be doing more for your team than sniper
sniper isnt that great of a weapon
does it 2shot or 4shot? I know it's great against normals but my team is way too worried about the giants (even though we run a scattergun smh)

But like great value if you are getting pen shots against the giant and killing smalls, or just hitting several of them at once
If your team is that worried about giants, scatter obv, if you want some range burst cannon is also great into them while being able to wave clear and boss kill fairly well
Hel Rifle is really good and basically a much better Sniper Rife and performs that role perfectly. As already said, getting pen is key for getting best from it, and as someone who used it for Giants for a while I can only suggest Hel Gun instead - basically Hel Gun has near same TTK on Giants due to firing way faster despite needing more bullets, and is much better into waves. My 2cents. Takes a while to get used to though, overall I feel Hel Gun is much more flexible

I think I was testing it on the last level on R1 because you spawn into a hallway with usually a buncha Giants
R4b1 comes to mind having a bunch if giants in starting zone

Sniper is very underrated
you'll think the Hel Gun is less powerful than the Rifle at first, and it is, but try to fire at max rate and you will see what I am talking about
that 2 ammo count hurts so bad
(and generally better for hybrids).

It's not as much able to carry giant clear like it used to
I'm sure it'll be a possibility for levels I haven't done, we're still working on R2E1 and going in order so it'll be a while. So far it's been awful for anything in R1 & R2
but Main power creep makes it not nearly as much a detriment to have a Special dedicated to a narrow enemy pool
It's solid on R2D2, but not very impressive anywhere else there.

If you're killing one giant at a time pretty often you might be better off w/ BC, but it depends on how much wave clear you're doing
If you're most of the wave clear on HEL Rifle then bad giant eco is completely fine.
If you're just using it for giants and not getting lines then you're not fully using HEL Rifle
if you're hitting pen lines then you can spam your main weapon to clear up any straggling smalls
Disagree w/ this, falloff makes it a lot worse for giant lines
Also tends to feel like it misses some staggers and gets weird clumping
It was very noticeable on R5E1 in my experience
I watched your video going over the guns with D4RKEVA and others and it helped a lot. Probably suggest people start there tbh, but I'm still learning this game
I'm not sure the exact reason, but HEL Rifle is just significantly more reliable for giants in that level

The extra ammo in the Hel Rifle makes it better than sniper but that's probably skill issue, Sniper just feels bad to me
But if you did that w/ HEL Gun it would take way too long
Once I got used to 1 shotting smalls with Hel Gun I overlooked the weaker Giant performance because it does so good on horde clear

There's jank w/ how these get applied
HEL Rifle cannot get more than 5, both are going to stop after 3-4 (closer to 4) targets most often in practice.
There's a separate cap of 5 limb pens for every pen gun that can trigger multiple times per enemy and ends up affecting higher pen weapons.
Does any of that play into being the Host or not like Scattergun does

I have read that not being Host with Scattergun gives advantage because it'll lag and you'll get multi-hit instead of 1 hit as host
so better to take as Client

There is a difference between how host and client interact with a few things in this game A very big one thats mainly noticeable on shotguns is bodyparts (in this case tumors on bosses) breaking immediatly once their hp is depleted as host vs staying in place for a bit when client. It's all fine and good to read the best strategies and uses for Hel Rife/Gun/Sniper on Giants but in practice I just panic and unload 3-4 sawed-off into it most of the time
Tbh R2D2, R1C1, and maybe R1D1 are really the only levels w/ substantial big density in waves.
It's very encounter specific even past that
R2D2 I started with Hel Rifle which was great but personally I found myself doing better with Hel Gun to give me more ammo on horde. That's me though, what a pain in the ass level
we are stuck on R2E1 currently and I'm Buckland/Combat to even have a chance, it's worse than R2D2 by a mile
Revo is my 4-fun pick there (but w/ Sawed-Off).

Issue we are having is Surge Alarms, killing doesn't seem to matter as much as control because they'll just insta-respawn anyway so doesn't matter much
Insta-respawn is still much further away from you than right next to you
It's more about when you kill
If you're sticking a scan (or a few back-to-back), killing as much as possible is ideal.
If you're waiting on scan draw, ignoring and kiting is usually better
First surge has a lot more kiting, third surge has basically no kiting
that's been our strat for the first one and we got it, we're mainly getting stomped on the second one that spawns in big shooters
we had a perfect run and because we're idiots that have 2 bots, they glitched and wouldn't get in the scan. So that was that
You can try kiting through spawn, it's a lot better than trying to survive in that room
Otherwise if you can game out you play to full stick and hope you have the clear speed for it

You go down ladder and let enemies catch up to you at the corner that dips in elevation a bit
then finish the loop and run to scan
It gathers all of the enemies in that room and on one side of it + it's a much better room for stalling in

In scan room you get flanked no matter where you stand
and anywhere you run to scan from, enemies will ride your ass
It's the main reason sticking all scans back to back is so difficult
the tile is just super harsh
It's really the only part that is giving us issues with how random it can be, everything up to that scan has been figured out pretty much

yeah i'm aware, i made an entire document for my teammates to understand the terminal better. we just never thought to check into that room because we were so sick of the mission that we didn't want to actively commit to exploring another zone that we've never seen before and we just wanted to end the 1.5h run at that point (and also we all had to go because it was late on a sunday)
originally after posting the question i was going to hop into the level solo quickly to check what's in that zone but then i got an answer that that zone has resources so i didn't bother anymore
I always recommend going to 614 since the cell is almost always in 614B for me and there's going to be a ton of extra resources there

how is burst rifle ammo efficiency wise
theoretically you can get 18.8 striker kills per ammo use on client
in practice you're probably getting about half that on either client or host if you hit close to all your shots
(because the 18.8 requires hitting all 3 pellets in a single burst into head)

All Mains are basically the same. In practice, pen is significantly better and autos are significantly worse.
I would not think in terms of the on-paper eco almost ever, though.
It makes more sense for Specials since they actually have major differences, but you still have to put it into context (Short Rifle and Revo are much better eco than the MGs in actual gameplay, for example).
You can also point to burst clear like High-cal as being a lot more efficient than you'd expect because it's such a consistent one-tap to body.
There's a much smaller difference between High-cal and Revo than you'd expect from just what the stats tell you.

frol the very back wall of the first room to the end of the northern door i would guess its not enough
tiles are kinda - restricted in size i believe since the game loads them with a set of similarly sized squares, one 'big tile' its always around the same size if it takes a whole room
in the case of b1s it also inclused the start i think so it is smaller
but i think its 40 m still so kinda lingering on the edge
or maybs im just being stupid
Full size tile is 64x64, so most big rooms are 64 units front to back
So PR one-shots about halfway across some big rooms
less reliable if you shoot across the diagonal

in vanilla, therent arent really many good ones
but there is a mod called scout playground
r2e1 there is a scout immediately as you drop
r2d1 for vanilla also sometimes has a scout right at the beginning and then there's zone 611 with 7 scouts in it
I suck at scout playground, only ever make it to zone 88 so far (EDIT: I finished it and it was a lot easier than I expected)
I just need to be better at jump kills
and more patient
What you could do is do r1a1, dont kill the scouts, do checkpoint then go kill scouts, die and repeat

The logger can give you some info on that if you got all your logs all time
Also, modding was super easy to set up! I set it up to practice fighting scouts and it was ez to set up and totally worth it

Achievement stats are for every play who played the game, but are only counted after r8 came out

so people who played before r8 came out wont have their achievements
as you can probably tell, more than 30% of players have filed an expedition lol
also i looked at the steam charts and damn the game has been pretty steady with players for the past 2 years
i want to do R2E1 eventually but i skipped it initially because i was new to the game and there was no way 2 of us were beating it.
although i did do a few solo attempts to check it out first and i made it to the part where the lights temporarily black out.

clients do not sync hp information of enemies so as a result orange kill markers do not operate correctly - u only get them if your weapon one shots an enemy with a single bullet
its one of the mechanisms used to fix orange kill hit markers on client
its bundled separately to killindicatorfix because it has modded uses outside of hit markers such as for healthbar mods that display enemy hp on clients

start out with 0 mods for them, with the right loadout theyre actually pretty good
bots can unironically beat the entire game relatively consistently, you just have to learn how to play around them and use them properly

theres only a few mods that wont allow you to get achievements, youll get level clears regardless though

once youve completed the game id recommend the mod "all vanity" since it gives you all of the vanity, currently you cant get like 10 of the apparels because the game has more apparels than is given

Fr, that's why the fps might be slightly dropping..... it calculates all the "rays" of sound bouncing off the entire Complex, when they die out, when the sleepers are glowing and whether this specific sleeper's personality is sensitive enough to wake up his neighbours (trust)

I wanted to download some mods since I'm starting a fresh steam account and lost all my progress. I definitely want the apparel mod and unlocking all levels mod. Any else would you guys recommend that I could use?

it's the backend modded framework that a lot of the deeper end type of mods operate on. It's not necessary for any of the bugfixes listed there, but it's disclosed so that you know when you can still get achievement progress. It was originally created to help 10 Chambers out to get better data and to separate vanilla lobbies from heavily modded ones
there is 1 fix on there that requires it to be installed but not enabled because that one is LGTuner which is another backend modded framework that is being used to correct some colliders to prevent some softlocks
for modded rundown devs it gets additional utility for their purposes making levels, but in vanilla we get to enjoy a few random pipes having misaligned colliders not randomly softlocking us when we walk over the floor grate where they are (If everyone in the lobby runs it of course)
unfortunately that's the reality of fixing softlocks: it requires touching how a level generates and that throws off the checksum process. That is all disclosed on the page as well. If everyone in the lobby doesn't run LGTuner + BCGF (Navmesh and tile generation fixes), then both should be disabled

I mean medals mod is genuinely a pretty solid quality of life mod even if just used for the clear time saving
I probably should disclose that about the crosshair... it's not entirely accurate if one is not at default FOV setting and accurate crosshair ensures it always is + after you fire you see how large + the shrink back down between shots, as in most games
In a way but its also a rly good qol mod as it makes stuff accurate while not changing actual spread
something else accurate crosshair does is disclose another hidden mechanic, first shot perfect accuracy

the pop of accurate crosshair is not up to scale at all and the pellets of shotguns can land outside of the crosshair because of shotgunconesize
good to know... in the case of shotguns, is it only accurate for the initial blast or is that also inaccrate

although it does seem like there is somewhat of an attempt to implement shotgunconesize
it's just not good enough to be a perfectly accurate representation of the crosshair
therefore if a kill needs all pellets like a c scout back damage shotgun kill then you can fail it despite the crosshair provided by the mod showing that it is completely inside

core is the menu thing, mostly downloaded alone if you plan to use the in game config feature as it adds a mod settings
essentials are the things auri did (and got help with I'd imagine for some cause there's a few that are the same as on TS)
rich presence is the most optional one, literally just a discord only thing that adds compatibility to discord rich presence API that they use and that anyone can use
reason hikaria's has so many downloads is because each download and update of the mod is a download added to the count
any rundown with a massive amount of updates will accumulate thousands of downloads even though only really like a thousand at most have downloaded them
just that an update requires a re download of the full package for thunderstore
(this is why we should switch to modworkshop fr)
there's no other thing that thunderstore
the modworkshop comment I made would require an entire migration to their server with the current packages and would have to be agreed with most of the people

There's any recommendation on how pass the alarm that is in 602 in r2e1?
We are two players trying to pass it with bots using c-foam, 1 turret, biotracker and mines and we tried a lot of times pass that part and we cant do the alarm somebody has any clue on how to do it?
you could try using multiple sentries and dropping the mines and foam, an auto sentry placed as shown should do a lot versus the alarm wave
foam doesnt do that great in r2e1 unless you use it to ladderfoam and even then its meh

- it doesn't allow you to properly learn how to deal with surge alarms without relying on it
- it seems like it would, but doesn't really help during the 2nd surge alarm, because once 1 of those three doors breaks down, the rest is useless, and you would have been better off with another sentry
- third surge is honestly way more fine than it may seem even if you don't ladderfoam cheese it, the tile just works out well for enemy flow and giving the team a chance to move to largely avoid getting pincered
- doesn't help at all in the alarm to get Neonate HSU
- you cannot consistently predict where the waves spawn during the error alarm, you may very well lose the critical doors for the 2nd to last surge, and they may very well spawn in the right room even if you ladderfoamed the left
- final surge wants the door downstairs opened anyway

an experienced team can go with only one sentry, a less experienced team might want to put another sentry down

We finished r4b1 over the weekend. we've done all sectors in r4 so far. They have significantly lengthened the amount of time it takes for us to finish an expedition, but I feel like doing all this extra work is going to make r2d2 much simpler when we do go back and deal with it
