I think you need to do something with the old version to get the saves working but not sure

Pretty sure you need to put the folder where the ACTUAL gtfo folder is

Then you can rename the old rundown you are tryingg to play to "GTFO", and the actual GTFO folder to something else

then when you are done just rename the actual gtfo folder to "GTFO" and the old rundown one to whatever

R2A1, R2B1, R7A1, R8A1 with people from discord.

The people from discord are clearing these levels for me, but they are not going with everything I’ve seen about stealth from YT.

Pre and Post apocalypse are vastly different in means of storytelling, and the game itself (at current) doesn't have... most of the original worldline lore, and some logs it never had—being exclusive to ambassador emails and the santonian industries website

it throws A LOT at beginners. Be it objectives, enemies or the like

it also might make them expect a few things in earlier rundowns which just throw off their perception

Learning the lore of what you so in gameplay is easy enough... play the game.

Learning the lore of the universe and what came before (the what, where, why, and how) is a fucking mess

If the first, play the game. If the second, go to the lore channel, read the "for dummies" documents in the pins, then get back to me with any questions you have that it didn't answer

There are over 220 total logs (yes, the steam achievement is much less—the game doesn't have all of the lore in it and never did) and piecing it together yourself is a herculean effort

There is a caveat here: going from alt://R6 to OG://R7 will leave pretty much all new players entirely confused.

This is because the game completely and totally fails to convey the difference or even the concept of worldlines without a deep knowledge and investment into digging into the lore

Just know that R7 is a different universe from all the alt:// rundowns entirely, and so is half of r8.

People who have played through GTFO since early access will be deeply familiar with this original universe, but new players are not and cannot go back to experience it (bar downpatching the game) excluding r7.

The gameplay between the OG and ALT versions of the rundowns are mostly the same, but the lore and story isnt.

In OGr6, 10cc, the developers, decided to make GTFO into a multiverse.

This might sound somewhat vague, but when do you know you are good at gtfo? I am reaching the 800 hour mark on this game, and yet I feel as if I have plateaud a long time ago. While I am more experienced in regards to level design and enemy distribution due to having cleared levels 4 or 5 times, when it comes to actual skill, I feel like I'm lacking severely. I've seen players with 100 or 200 hours who play just like me, sometimes even better. I feel like every approach to a level I take is flawed despite having played the level time and time again. Maybe it might just be impostor syndrome, or a literal skill issue, idk.

"good" is an arbitrary standard, in the eyes of someone who just bought the game you're the vet that carries, and in the eyes of the best players you're probably an ok but not amazing player

if your improvement has just been memorising level data stuff it's evident to me that you're just not pushing yourself mechanically and decision making wise to take risks that lead to learning and development

like, your decisions are probably always wrong because you're complacent and just do the thing you are comfortable with rather than the risky play that has more difficult execution

I get that it's subjective, and there will always be room to improve, but having so many hours, you'd think that at some point some things should come naturally, especially with how many hours I have. And it's not like I haven't done challenging levels repedeatly, or tried to pull my own weight, it just feels like I'm always in need of specific circumstances or teammates in order to show genuine skill.

Of course it's a collab game, so it's to be expected, but certain things, such as kiting or killing giants on your own are possible, and yet I fail to deliver on such things.

I guess being consistent is important. Any suggestions when it comes to kiting? I feel like in spite how well I can sometimes maneuver around enemies, I always end up underestimating their range in high pressure situations.

take tight corners, if you end up with enemies in front of you, make a sharp turn or jump over, take shortcuts like jumping railings or over waist high obstacles

do as much as you can to make sure enemies have as little line of sight to you as possible, and avoid giving them a straight line to catch up with you or get free damage

you also need to try and anticipate what the enemies will do rather than react to it when it happens

like say there are 6+ strikers running at me, and i dont have a weapon loaded for some reason (am dumb)

you would want to prematurely begin strafing to the side and around them to force out their tongue attacks while avoiding damage wherever possible

also anyone who's better at the game than me please correct me where im wrong

For sure. Especially about dodging prematurely. What I noticed is that if you begin to move the side of the enemy as they begin their tongue attack, eventually you fall outside of that area, and the tongue ends up missing entirely.

that's a key strategy in avoiding taking unnecessary damage from both regular and big enemies

when you're talking about long kiting it's easiest when you're working with big enemies

because of how slow they are and because by baiting out attacks you force them to stop entirely

Like, at all I don't care if it "feels powerful" or whatever copium you've been inhaling. If you're bringing that glorified noise-maker Into a mission with nightmares, you might as well be speedrunning your own team wipe.

First off, ammo economy. This gun chews through bullets like it's on an all-you-can-eat buffet and doesn't know the concept of restraint. Sure, you can dump a mag into a nightmare and hope for the best, but guess what? That's your whole reserve gone, and the nightmare's probably still not dead. Meanwhile, your buddy with the HEL Rifle tapped It twice and went back to popping strikers like it's a casual Friday. GG.

Second, the recoil is a crime against ergonomics. You're fighting the gun more than you're fighting the monsters. Unless you're channeling the literal ghost of a CS:GO pro, your shots are gonna go everywhere except where they're supposed to. Try tracking a nightmare whille it's phasing through the floor and teleporting around like some kind of budget Slenderman. Now do it with a machine gun that kicks like a mule. Yeah. Exactly.

Third-and this is for the people in the back-sound matters in GTFO. It's not Call of Duty, bro. This isn't a "spray and pray" simulator. Stealth is king, and the machine gun is like rolling into a library with a boombox blasting dubstep. It turns every fight into a loud, messy, borderline unwinnable alert fest. You wake up the room, the room wakes up the floor, and the floor wakes up the entire complex. And guess who's responsible? That's right. YOU. Mr. "High RPM equals high damage," congrats on alerting every nightmare in a 5-mile radius.

Fourth, let's talk role overlap. The machine gun doesn't bring anything unique to the team. Need sustained DPS? That's what the HEL Gun or Sniper is for. Need burst damage? Shotgun and Revolver have entered the chat. Crowd control? Get yourself a Choke Mod and stop pretending the machine gun is anything but dead weight in disguise.

Look, I get it. It looks cool It sounds cool. And for about five seconds you feel like a minl-gun-wielding god. But that feeling ends when your screen fades to black and you're spectating your teammates while yelling "he was one shot bro" over Discord. Newsflash: he wasn't.
