hel shottie is very very good against swarms, lemme break it down
dmg is enough to two shot sleepers consistently, spread hits many targets at once, HEL makes it so pellets go through enemies and hit more, big mag makes it so u shoot a lot, and it's automatic so u keep going, plus it has high staggering so they won't move from there
round it all with very respectable ammo numbers, and an ok reload, it's very much a great weapon for a lot of missions
just some require more individual guns, more range, etc etc

it's pretty good, it's a shotgun so it has the spread thing of course but medium range of 10 or more meters [way more than u usually expect]
the main issue is it has only 4 shots in mag, and even tho the reload isn't long u do it a lot
it probs lean a bit more over hel rifle but if u find the shotgun more comfortable it's perfectly ok and nice

Funny enough backshots on Giants with Revo are better than expected. With each Shot breaking a limp it can dispatch them pretty quickly without giving it time to respond.
So in a Team setting it can be quite decent ( still worse than other Options tho)

If you're host you've a lot more leeway over when to hit
client the timing (speaking about hammer) is usually a bit sharper and I need to hit definitively sooner than I would if I was host
