there are two schools of thought.
if they expand more on the collectors, that gets rid of a lot of the mysterious vibe to them.
if they don't, or just add sprinkles, it only adds to the intrigue as to what they once were.
besides, they've been gone a long time and honestly aren't really that relavant to the story other than just being a set-up for the plot and how the sleepers/virus/parasite got here.

Above/below works the same as on the same level. But if theres a grating/catwalk with holes then it depends on whether they have line of sight
Generally you can actually move over the gratings even if they are throbbing (just dont sprint) due to how the wake up mechanic works as long as they dont have line of sight of you for too long

chokemod is the same thing but with more range and less mag
scattergun is a giant killer with huge dmg that can be sprayed at smalls
and combat shottie it's a small killer weapon with less dmg than the others but more mag more total ammo etc etc
