it's super easy to start a hammer charge immediately after the last hammer hit recovers, because the game doesn't "swallow" your input if you start holding the mouse button early to charge

you also don't need a limb-break stagger

if you start charging asap after last hit (again this is easy), then even if the giant starts a tongue attack immediately out of soft stagger, you will complete your charge and be able to land the hit before the tongue has a chance to connect

and soft staggers interrupt giants' tongue attacks

this has been the case since at least r6 hammer rebalance when hammer charge time was reduced

(I think also back then if you didn't limb-break then you might not have soft-staggered?)
