Most of discords applications are on a per role basis, which allows for great fine-tuning in who can see and access what.
Discord uses a hirarchy for roles/permissions so if roles are above another those permissions take over whats below

by tying depth and new discoveries to difficulty, seasoned players wouldn't have the same experience in playing levels closer to the surface

Yep, the creation of the levels themselves are randomly generated, then refined. The enemy encounters are randomized for each playthrough. Even between team wipe and retry.

This is where they have the hardest monsters in the game as a random encounter
on the first level
I believe there are limits to the difficulty of the enemies at each sublevel. The deeper you go, the harder the enemies will spawn.
Kinda like Bloodborne/Dark Souls dungeons in that sense

Chalice dungeons in Bloodborne can get really, really hairy

My greatest gaming experiences have been in games with static maps.
I think there will be a large enough variety of maps that it will feel fresh every time you play... plus, as stated, enemy encounters will be dynamic

But I like a map that is at least different in terms of layout adjustments.
It doesn't have to have constant changes to its objective
But I don't want to be playing the same 10 maps.
Or the same mode
I think there is a lot more that can be done with ten thoroughly designed, cohesive maps, than ten with random parts that change every time.
I think a lot of linearity removes the fear-factor from games.
If it's LINEAR
And replayable.
And not a single-player experience

At some point, you're basically just re-designing the same map; may as well just make a brand new one.
And there will be nothing to be scared about.
Because you know the map.
You will know where enemies can spawn.
You'll know when they spawn.
