Sure, you can dump a mag into a nightmare and hope for the best, but guess what? That's your whole reserve gone, and the nightmare's probably still not dead. Meanwhile, your buddy with the HEL Rifle tapped It twice and went back to popping strikers like it's a casual Friday. GG.

Second, the recoil is a crime against ergonomics. You're fighting the gun more than you're fighting the monsters. Unless you're channeling the literal ghost of a CS:GO pro, your shots are gonna go everywhere except where they're supposed to. Try tracking a nightmare whille it's phasing through the floor and teleporting around like some kind of budget Slenderman. Now do it with a machine gun that kicks like a mule. Yeah. Exactly.

Third-and this is for the people in the back-sound matters in GTFO. It's not Call of Duty, bro. This isn't a "spray and pray" simulator. Stealth is king, and the machine gun is like rolling into a library with a boombox blasting dubstep. It turns every fight into a loud, messy, borderline unwinnable alert fest. You wake up the room, the room wakes up the floor, and the floor wakes up the entire complex. And guess who's responsible? That's right. YOU. Mr. "High RPM equals high damage," congrats on alerting every nightmare in a 5-mile radius.
Fourth, let's talk role overlap. The machine gun doesn't bring anything unique to the team. Need sustained DPS? That's what the HEL Gun or Sniper is for. Need burst damage? Shotgun and Revolver have entered the chat. Crowd control? Get yourself a Choke Mod and stop pretending the machine gun is anything but dead weight in disguise.

Look, I get it. It looks cool It sounds cool. And for about five seconds you feel like a minl-gun-wielding god. But that feeling ends when your screen fades to black and you're spectating your teammates while yelling "he was one shot bro" over Discord. Newsflash: he wasn't.

In conclusion, if you're bringing the machine gun into a nightmare-infested level, you're not just trolling-you're actively fighting against your team. Do everyone a favor, leave it in the gear select screen where it belongs, and pick something that won't make your squad consider kicking you mid-expedition.

always ask to not be carried, make sure that everyone joinin ur lobby joins ur voice channel

Hello! Just bought this game and made 3 other friends buy it too. Anything we shoudl really know before we get started? I'm aware it can get very hard and there's some ||timeline|| shenanigans going on with the characters but other than that I am pretty much in the dark.

lorewise you're going to be mostly drip-fed information in the form of logs in the terminals, up until r6 where the lore becomes much more prevalent to the gameplay

the story will be pretty slow to start off

in terms of actual gameplay, dont get discouraged by struggling

the game's meant to be punishing

if you need clarification about mechanics, just ask around - lots of knowledgable people on the server

otherwise id say just experiment and have fun!

The reason its implemented as events and not an error alarm btw is because you use a "Deactivate Alarms" command later in the level, and if this was an error alarm it would get rid of the snatcher error, but because they are events it doesnt get rid of them

The bug was caused because the specific type of event comboed with the EventsOnActivate for Terminal Command would trigger for all clients and the host

Desync would drop some of the extra snatchers sometimes, but it would pretty consistently spawn a snatcher for each player in the level

I cannot remember if they actually fixed the host/client issue or just moved the waves to WavesOnGoToWin

Flowaria figured this out like a month after R7 dropped (so like summer 2022) and they submitted it to the bug list but it never got fixed. I found it on my own in fall 2023, talked with a bug hunter I knew about it and he made sure 10CC knew about it

so they fixed it with the R8 drop
