my first advice is to bring a lot of patience into the game, because as a beginner I recommend you to take it slowly and kill the enemies 1 by 1 in stealth, also try different weapons out and avoid using full auto guns because they are bad in every situation

And to be honest if I had a group that could be as consistent to play with I would not do it with mods except the few cosmetic and quality of life mods. So no I wouldn’t have modded if I had consistent comrades to struggle with. There in lies the crux the community and people who make up that community aren’t retired and can’t dedicate that much time to such a task. I’m retired all I have is time so I wanted to finish the game before new years hence why I modded to accomplish that mission regardless of the cost.

Yeah it’s wild bro even when I did solo with no bots it was with God mode and still was crazy. Kraken didn’t spawn like 3 times. Had to restart multiple times until one of my boys helped me through it, had God mode on he went down quite a bit because the timer was up he had to leave a few times so I could get scans done then on the final couple of scans he hung in there long enough for the teleport.

one thing I can recommend regarding sentries is to not close doors when you dont have mines

because they just bunch up and then you get like 20 to deal with at once when they break through

another thing is to do the scans for doors as quickly as possible, because you're just gonna keep draining resources if you take too much time

and yes, mine explosions are a 5 meter wide, 12(?) meter long cylinder

when you have small doors, it's good to place them facing into the door, because the explosion will be more concentrated on the enemies - for large doors (and small doors that have nothing in front of them you could put a mine on) it's usually good enough to just put it in the frame, at about knee height

also if you take c-foam along with mines and only have one door/they all go to a single door, you can keep foaming that door as you do the scans so they don't even get in while you're scanning and then all blow up when you're done

you can put 9 blobs on a single door before it caps (additional ones dont do anything)

well, it heavily depends on the level

but mines and foam are generally good when you have alarm doors to defend with not too many entrances into the room where you're scanning

Like R1A1, which has 1 entrance for the first alarm (though it's class II, so you don't even need to foam) and 1 relevant entrance for the Class IV

(the second entrance has two doors and sleepers prefer the path of least resistance, so chances are they're all going to the main door)
