Try in steam right clicking on GTFO and open the Properties. Go to the controller section and make sure the Override is set to "Enable Steam Input". If that works already then it should be alright. You can then open the Steam Hub with Shift + Tab to open the Controller Configuration for GTFO and set the keybinds there. Be aware that you probably need to assign keyboard keys to your controller buttons

Something that you might not know at first is that if you touch the tentacles you have about 2 seconds to kill it before it screams so if you approach it and you see the tentacles turn red, it's speedrun time so you can still save your ass
