like recently, i played through a game called "Republique" and while its not a indie game it had a full crew behind it with david hayter voice acting, the game was recieved poorly and wasn't exactly a huge game in the market, going back to it im absolutely blown away at the amount of detail, research and clear dedication to literature the devs had in mind with it. the entire game has references to crazy specific philosophers and the writing is infinitely more intelligent then any modern telltale game. idk just feels like we stopped trying to push the envelope
